"We would like to discuss some new elements that have come to light in the accident investigation", said Voight calmly.

Emma had never met them, but she knew that Kelly had spoken to some detectives after the accident. She nodded and told them to come in.

They all sat down in the living room. Erin had a quick scan of the place. She couldn't help but notice all the pictures of Kelly and Emily as well as both of them with some of the rest of the fire squad. It was clear to her that this relationship was very different for Kelly than any one he probably ever had.

Voight took out his notepad and looked at Emily.

"Dr. McHolland, would you say you have a good memory"?

Emily shrugged. "Well yes. Why do you ask"?

He pulled out a picture in black and white and handed it over to Emily. Kelly's heartbeat accelerated as he recognized Wendel.

"Have you ever seen this man before"?

Emily looked at it for a brief moment. "Yes Detective, I have. What has this got to do with the accident"?

"Where and why did you see this man"?

"At the hospital, he came for a consult. His father died a couple years ago of a heart attack and he wanted a full cardio check-up. Why are you asking me about a patient"?

Voight took the picture back. His eyes met Kelly's. Voight didn't have to say anything, Kelly knew exactly what that meant. Wendel had been to see Emily before the accident. Somehow he must have found out about her couple of days off or if not had been following Emily, knowing exactly her routine and known exactly when and where to strike.

"Dr. McHolland, we strongly believe that this man is the one behind your accident".

"Why would a patient of mine suddenly be involved in my car accident. Out of all the people living in Chicago, my patient would be responsible for my accident? I find that really hard to believe. I mean why? Was he on the scene when you arrived"? Emily asked Kelly.

"I don't know. When we got there we focused on the accident and the rescue".

Erin gave Kelly a sarcastic look that caught Emily's attention. She looked back and forth from Kelly to Erin then to Voight. Something was up.

"Ok.. What the hell is going on here"?

Kelly took her hand in his. "Nothing".

"Nothing? So why the hell do I feel like the odd man out in this room"?

Erin had enough. She was so jealous of Emily, so jealous of what they had, when all she had ever wanted was Kelly. It was time to rock the boat.

"You have every right to feel that way, because you've been taken for a fool. Kelly has been lying to you from day one"!

Emily's eyes widened and her mouth dropped. Before she could even turn her attention from Erin to Kelly, he stood enraged.

"What the hell do you think you're doing"?

Erin stood in turn. "Doing what you should have done, the minute we came to warn you at the station"!

"You have no right coming into my house and implicate her in this".

"She's already implicated Kelly. She has a right to know"!

"I'm protecting her. If only you had been doing your job properly and kept tabs on Wendel, none of this would have happened".

"Oh screw you Kelly. So that's what it's coming down to.. I was there for you when you hit rock bottom after what happened to Katie, you truly think that I would deliberately let Wendel try to commit murder"!

Emily zoned out… Multiple words were spinning around in her head. 'lying, implicated, I was there for you, murder'! Murder?!

"Oh don't you dare bring 'us' into this..you've got some nerve talking about that in front of her…."

Voight stood up in the attempt to calm things down. "You two are both out of line and none of this is helping the situation. Now I want you both to sit down". He looked at Erin. "The minute we leave this house, you are suspended and removed from this case. This is the second time your conduct has been out of line. Now Dr. McHolland, I would like…." He turned his attention to where Emily was sitting on the sofa and paused. The seat was empty.

Kelly and Erin who were still standing and staring each other down, realized that Voight had stopped in mid-sentence, turned their attention. Kelly looked at the empty seat. He looked quickly towards the stairs thinking she may have gone up but then he realized that the front door was wide open. He looked at the wall at the key box that hung and realized that Emily's keys had disappeared.

He turned to Erin and Voight infuriated. "Are you happy now"?

"Detective Voight, I'd like to raise a formal complaint against Detective Lindsay"!

"It won't be necessary Severide. I'll do it myself. Would you like me to put out an APB so we can locate Dr. McHolland"?

"NO. I think you've done more than enough here tonight. If I ever see Detective Lindsay around my girlfriend or me, your internal complaint will not be where I stop, is that understood"?

Voight nodded. "Loud and clear".

"Good. I'll stop by tomorrow so we can continue on where we are with the investigation, but as you can imagine right now, I have more pressing matters".

Voight nodded comprehensively and nodded to Erin to exit the house as he trailed behind her.

Kelly rubbed his forehead. Where was Emily and how was he going to find her? What would he say to her? He knew he wouldn't be able to find her alone, he needed help. He made two quick phone calls and after hanging up opened a map on the kitchen countertop. Fifteen minutes later there was a knock on the door. He went to open it and Jeff and Matt followed him inside.

"Thanks for coming so quickly. I thought we could break up into three sectors. I'll take this one, it's rather large but it groups different key points like the hospital, Matt you can take this one, it's got a good perimeter around Molly's and Mouch's and Jeff, the one around the firehouse".

"What about at Mouch's"?

"I can't call Mouch and if that's where she was, knowing him, he would have called me already by now if not to beat the crap out of me, at least to tell me she's safe".

Matt looked at him. "What if she left the city"?

Kelly sighed. "Right now I don't even want to think about that option. I just hope that she's confused, angry, hurt and she's not impulsive enough, I would hope to leave Chicago".

"What do we do if we find her"?

"Just le me know, try to keep her wherever she is until I can get there and explain everything to her".

He banged his fists on the table. "I wished I had never had to explain all of this to her. She doesn't deserve to be thrown in the middle of this".

Jeff put his hand on Kelly's shoulder and squeezed it. "I know buddy"!

All three walked out of the loft and headed to their respective cars and headed towards their sector. It was going to be a long night the only thing that Kelly hoped was that when the light of day arrived, it would bring light at the end of the tunnel.
