Fourteen: In The Country Pt.1

Bruce and Clark needed to go out of the country for their jobs and they couldn't take Dick with them and they couldn't leave him with Alfred because he went on vacation to England. So they decided to take Dick to his Grandparents house, they would have let him with the League but Bruce still didn't trust them to much with Dick.

"You're going to have fun." Clark said.

"Uh-huh I get to help Pa." Dick told him with a smile.

"If there is any trouble you know how to contact us, right?" Bruce said.

"Yes, Daddy." Dick said. "Ace is going to be a good boy too." he said petting the Great Dane.

"He's going to be with Krypto." Clark said.

"Yeah, they're best pals." Dick said. it had been a years since the other dog came into the picture and both Bruce and Clark had decided to keep Krypto on the Kent farm because he would be to noticeable in Wayne Manor and they already had one dog that got dotted on by Robin they didn't need two and it would not be noticeable that both Bat-Hound and Superdog lived in the same home.

"We're here." Clark announced, his parents were already waiting in the porch. The three of them got down and Ace got down. The first one to come forward was Krypto who took Dick gently down and began to lick Dick in the face.

"Hahahaha…." Dick laughed.

"Thank you, for taking care of Dick, Ma, Pa." Clark said.

"Don't be silly Clark we'll be happy to take care of our grandson." Ma Kent said.

"Thank-you anyway Martha." Bruce said and he got hugged just like Clark, it was something he had gotten used too.

"Don't worry sweetie." Ma Kent said.

"We'll be back for him in three days." Bruce said. "I hope Ace won't be too hard for you."

"Of course not having two dogs would be something good to have." Pa Kent said. "Richard will be fine."

"Okay." Bruce said.

"Ma, Pa." Dick said and ran to his grandparents to hug them both.

"Sweetheart." Ma said and gave him a kiss in the forehead.

"Are you ready to help me with the farm?" Pa Kent asked.

"Uh-huh." Dick said.

"Alright, Dick we're leaving." Clark said. Dick looked at both of them and he knew he had to be brave his parents had left before, well one of them had; this was actually the first time they both would be leaving. Dick hugged Bruce first.

"Bye Daddy." Dick said.

"Be good to your grandparents." Bruce told him it was code for (I'm going to miss you.)

"Yes, Daddy." Dick answered. He was put down and Clark scooped him up.

"We're going to call every day, okay." Clark told him. Martha and Jonathan Kent couldn't help the smiles that came to their faces, seeing strongest superheroes trying to say bye to their child in such a way it made them seem really human.

"We'll pick him up." Bruce told them. Clark put Dick down and Dick walked over to his Grandparents and looked at his daddies.

"Bye." Both Clark and Bruce said at the same time.

"Come inside, the pie is ready." Martha said with a smile just as the car left the drive-way.

"Okay." Dick said with a smile.

They all walked together inside and Jonathan was carrying Dick's bag and went to put it in his room.

"I'm going to go fix my clothes." Dick told Martha.

"Okay, honey, come back and get ready to eat some pie." She told him.

"Okay Grandma." Dick said and ran after his Grandfather. Martha smiled even after all these years she hadn't imagine she would get a grandchild and she did.

"Well here you go boys." Martha told Dick and Pa Kent for she had finished putting pie in their plates.

"Thank, Grandma." Dick said.

"You're welcome sweetie." Martha told him.

Dick showered and changed to his pajamas; he washed his teeth and went to his room, where Pa Kent was ready to put him in bed.

"Now you remind me of your Papa." Pa Kent told him.

"I do?" Dick asked.

"Yes." Pa Kent told him. "No you get a full night sleep this time, no patrol."

"Okay." Dick said and closed his eyes, but he felt the kiss on his forehead and smiled. Pa Kent saw as Ace came and curled himself at the end of the bed.

"Take care of him." Pa Kent said and went out of the room.
