Chapter 13

Another Love Story

Amu Pov.

When I woke up I was laying on the hospital bed, Dr. Ootori and Rima gazing over me. After blinking a few times to let my eyes a just to the light, I sat up and rubbed my head.

"Amu, are you okay?" Rima asked me nervously before sitting back in her chair. I nodded my head, but my answer was entirely from the truth.

'How did this happen? How in god's great and holy name did this happen? Ikuto and I were so careful. Before I got on the pill he would always use a condom so I don't see how I ended up pregnant.' I thought to myself, but my thoughts were interrupted by Dr. Ootori.

The young doctor sighed before he looked at me sympathetically "Ms. Hinamori-san, I know this is all a lot to take in at one time but, you might want to considering the odds. If you choose to keep the baby then I will be needing to set up appointments with you to closely monitor your first few months of pregnancy. If you don't plan on keeping it then I suggest taking care of it right away, you don't want it to be too late in the pregnancy to terminate. These things are easier to take care of earlier on." Dr. Ootori said in a professional voice that gave not hint to what he thought was best for me.

I couldn't handle hearing what he was saying. How was I supposed to handle my doctor telling me to choose if I want my baby to live of die? I started to feel the air leave my lungs. It was becoming very hard to think, I could only concentrate on my breathing and looking at Rima with pleading eye.

Getting my message, Rima stood up and walked next to me. "Um I think we are going to need a moment to talk things over if you don't mind." Rima said, turning toward the doctor with a firm gaze. Taking a hint; Dr. Ootori nodded and silently left the room.

After he was gone, I looked up at Rima who was in just as much a panic then I was. Neither of us were expecting this, and we especially didn't think we'd have to talk about whether or not I should be keeping my baby.

"Amu-Chan, how did this happen?" Rima whispered as she hugged my side. I looked at her and tried to remember.

'I was on the pill for about a month, so I shouldn't be having this problem. I took them everyday so I shoul-' I was thinking, and then it hit me. 'I had finished my month's supply of birth control and was supposed to get my prescription refilled, but I forgot. I had sex with Ikuto a week after I ran out. I remember I was going to take the morning after pill but… I got distracted with work and I never got around to taking it! 'I thought, my eyes widening in realization.

I looked up at Rima who was waiting patiently for me to collect my thoughts. "I for got to take my morning after pill after my birth control ran out. I must have not remembered and now… Oh Rima, what am I going to do? I can't handle this. Not only am I having to deal with the fact that I am pregnant, but now I am being told that due to my stupidity of staying with my foster parents my baby might not live! How am I supposed to take that! I just… I-I can do this Rima!" I cried to my best friend who let my hold her and drench her shirt with my tears.

Rima patted my back and made soothing sounds until my tears were nothing more then a few hiccups. With a deep sigh she pushed away from me and sat back in her chair.

It was silent for a moment, Rima was probably colleting her thoughts, before Rima looked at me sympathetically but firmly. "Amu, this all really boils down to you and what you want. I can't tell you what to do anymore. So the real question is what do you want to do? Do you want to keep this baby?" she said in a serious voice, not giving me a chance to ponder, she continued.

"Amu, I will support you in what ever you pick, but if for any reason you want to keep the baby, I will do everything in my power to help you make sure this baby lives. I am sure mom and dad would as well. But just think about it Amu, think really hard before you answer. Do you want to keep your baby?" She asked earnestly.

I looked down at my still flat stomach and laid a hand over my lower abdomen. Life, a small life that Ikuto and I created was now growing inside of me. The realization of this was like a slap in the face, it made me think clearly for the first time sense I came to the doctors today. 'I could never kill my baby. Even if it's a small chance that he or she will live, I want to keep my baby.' I thought as a small smile spread on my face.

I glanced up at Rima, one look at my face and it must have given her my answer. She nodded her head, not saying a word. Instead she crouched down to my stomach and said quietly, "Hey there little one. Auntie Rima promises to do anything she can to keep you alive and well." I was so touched by Rima's words that I could feel my tears approaching again.

A few moments later Dr. Ootori walked back in and sat down on his roll around chair. He looked up from some charts in his hand and looked at me with a poker face on. "So Ms. Hinamori, have you decided what you want to do?" he asked in an emotionless voice.

I looked back at Rima for a moment; she gave me an encouraging nod before I turned back to the doctor and said in a confidant voice, "I am going to keep the baby."

It child is a product of Ikuto and I, but the baby is mine, mine and no one else's. This baby is my own blessing from God, and I will be damned before I let someone, including myself, take my child away from me. I would keep the baby — my baby, even if Ikuto doesn't want it, I will keep him or her and make them happy until the day I die! I looked up at the doctor and saw his sad eyes.

'Why? Why does he looked so sad?' Then I remembered. My baby might not live through the first trimester of pregnancy.

"My baby, why won't he or she live past the first trimester?" I asked Dr. Ootori. The young doctor sighed, "I know this is a personal question, but have you ever been abused anytime at all, or in a really bad car accident?" He asked me calmly.

I nodded my head slowly and spoke up, "Umm after my parents died in an accident, I was placed in a foster care. My foster family unfortunately abused me quite a bit, it wasn't until recently they were put in jail. I came here to start a fresh life with my friend here." I said gesturing towards Rima.

I saw his sympathy when he heard my short story, right now I don't want his sympathy, all I want is to know how I can save my baby.

Before, speaking again the doctor typed something in his laptop. "Due to the damage your foster parents caused, your uterine wall is rather weak. It can be caused from hard blows to the abdomen area. If your baby does grow a significant amount, what I'm afraid might happen is your womb might reject the fetus because of all the damaged scar tissue, it's too soft and might not be strong enough to protect your baby as it grows.

But if the baby does manage to survive until your second trimester I can put you into the high risk category. Of course we will still be monitoring you just as much in the first trimester but if you do reach the second mark it will be more urgent to watch. That way we can make sure the baby is stable." the doctor explained.

I nodded my head in understanding. Rima who was standing beside me quietly, finally chimed in. "Um, Is there any thing that she shouldn't do? I mean so there is a better chance of survival?" Rima asked the doctor, her body relaxed a bit when she heard that my baby could possibly

Survive, even though the chances were slim — very slim.

"Yes, you shouldn't carry anything heavy what so ever, Don't do to much if you can help it. Any stress at all could boost the chance of a miscarriage. Amu I am going to prescribe you some prenatal vitamins that you are to take readily. Don't slack off at all with taking them. With your condition you need as much help as you can get. You don't have time to forget. I know it sounds harsh but I know you want this baby and you can't afford to slack off if there is any chance he or she might live. "The doctor replied calmly as Rima and I nodded our heads. We understood he meant well. He was right anyhow; I can't afford to slack if I want to keep my baby.

"Okay, is there anything else I should know and do?" I asked, determined to remember and take good care of the baby. Dr. Ootori smiled and nodded, "Before you leave I want to check your blood presser and set up another appointment for next week. I know it's a little soon but with you being high risk we have to keep a close watch on you." He explained as he wrapped a blood presser cuff around my arm. "Next week I will be doing a lot more testing. I'll be taking some blood, doing an ultrasound, checking your blood pressers again and things like that. We can discuss it more when you come in next week, but I promise we will try to do everything we can to keep your baby strong and healthy Ms. Hinamori." He said kindly

I smiled brightly at the young doctor and gave my thanks. Getting the clear that my blood presser is normal, we left the doctors office and went to the front desk to set up another appointment. We bid the lady at the desk farewell and made our way out of the hospital and back to the car.

When we reached the car we shared a glance and I nodded my head to her. We were going to tell Rima's parents for sure, about the pregnancy and who was father of my baby is. And with that agreement in place we both entered the car and got comfortable for the ride home.

Rima Pov.

I let out a sigh of relief upon hearing that Amu's baby could survive. Even if the chance was slim, I've always believed in miracles and I pray this turns out to be one.

Once we were in the car I relaxed my body into the comfy back seat and just stared out the window as the driver drove away, leaving the white tall hospital building behind.

Both of us glanced at each other after a few minutes of silence. Amu nodded her head indicating what I was already thinking; we needed to tell my parents about Ikuto and the baby.

'I know they will be disappointed in us for not telling them everything from the start but we didn't expect things to turned out like this. I never expected Amu to turn up pregnant. Not that I am not happy that she will have the baby but I just don't know if Amu can handle all of this. Especially when the father is currently out of the picture. Can you really handle that Amu? Can you handle being a single mother?' I thought sadly to myself, looking at my pregnant best friend to my right.

We didn't talk during the journey back to our house, instead I had the driver turn on the radio and let the music filled the silent. Our driver glanced at us through the reviver view mirror a few time, but it's probably because he felt the tension in the air. Amu and I usually are very talkative, we Could be fighting and we'd still be talking, we would end up giggling inside the car and laughed at each other about how stupid the fight was in the first place. But what could we talk now? It would only make Amu's burden feel heavier and I refused to be the one that puts the pressure on her.

We arrived at the house a while later, the driver opened up the door, let Amu and I out of the car before he closed it and parked the car in the garage.

I took Amu's hand inside mine and squeeze it tight, trying to give her some encouragement. We knew my parents were already home, seeing as my dad Mercedes was parked in the drive way.

We walked into the house and found both my parents sitting on the

Couch in the living room, watching TV. My mom was the first to notice our presence. She looked up at us and smiled, motioning with her and to come sit with her and father on the couch.

We both made our way to the love seat next to the couch; we watched as dad turned off the TV and turned to face us. "Welcome home you two. You're pretty late for just getting out of school. Did you have and after school club or something? "My father asked happily while glancing at his wrist watch.

My mother stayed quiet for a moment before she narrowed her eyes. After another pause of silence she finally spoke up, "Did anything happen today my dears?" Amu body's suddenly tensed and I knew she was beginning to stress out and panic which she didn't need happening in her condition.

Determining that Amu wasn't going to be able to do it, I finally spoke up, "Amu and I have something to tell you, all I ask is that you wait till I'm done explaining to say anything and please don't yell and freak out, okay?" My parents nodded their head and waited for us to tell them the problem. My mom is sharp; she can catch if we are up to something in an instant, believed me when I say she never failed at it. I inhaled deeply before I began the long tedious story, from Amu's families' death to how she ended up in the doctors today.

Normal Pov.

Rima's parents were stunned in their spots on the couch. After taking in all of this new information they didn't know how to process it. Tsukiyomi enterprise wasn't only the world biggest corporation also one of their biggest business partners and sponsors. What should they do? They didn't know, but it didn't mean they would throw the miserable girl out. Amu already had too much of a burden to handle at such a young age, not to mention they had grown to love the pink haired girl. After all she was their daughters' very first and best friend.

My mother sighed inn frustration before she spoke, "I'm so sorry Amu. I wish we could do more then just support you but we can't do too much about it. Since Ikuto is our biggest business partner and sponsor, he has a lot of leverage over us, but what we can do is support you and keep everything a secret." Mrs. Mashiro said while she hugged the sobbing pink haired girl tightly.

"Hm, you will continue to live here with us and go to school, act like nothing happen until you're graduate in two months. You can choose to continue your study further after you have had the baby. Speaking of the baby, from what you have told us and seeing as your high risk right now, you are going to have to be very careful and start eating a lot healthier Amu. I am so sorry that you are in this situation but if you want any chance of your baby surviving you must take very good care of yourself. "Mr. Mashiro said calmly and Amu nodded her head.

She though her adoptive parents would abandon her, but they didn't and it was more then she could ever ask for. "Thank you." Amu whispered. She knew the elders heard her gratitude because they both smiled at her. Rima squeezed her hand once again and also flashed her a warm smile.

This was what family supposed to be right? It felt warm and right, Amu had her family back, even though this family was only her adoptive family, they still loved her. It was enough, and she felt blessed.

After a rather enthusiastic talk about baby clothes, cribs and toy with Mrs. Mashiro, the girls and two adults proceeded to the dining room for dinner later that evening. Mr. Mashiro ordered his cooks to serve something that had more vitamins and healthier for the pregnant pinkette, while his missus ordered one of the maids to go fill Amu's prescription of prenatal vitamin for her to take. The family was happy about the baby despite the fact that it was Ikuto's' child and the baby was fighting the odds to survive.

Rima and Amu walked up to the pinkette's room after dinner, they were doing to celebrate the news of Amu's pregnancy. "I am so happy; I get to be an Auntie!" The blond haired girl exclaimed. Amu smiled while she imagined she carried her baby inside her arms, a small life that God blessed her with. But then she frowned when she remembered the odds. "If my baby survives then yes. I will be a mommy and you an auntie." Amu said in a small and sad voice. Rima stopped her celebration and went to hug Amu immediately, "The baby will survive, have some faith Amu. The family and I will take good care of you and the baby so don't worry." Rima whispered in encouraging voice, trying to lift her best friend's spirits.

After a some small talk Rima left the pinkette's room and went to her own. Amu saw the blond walked away and closed the door. As soon as the door was shut Amu let the tears that she had been holding in all evening stream down her face. 'Why is the world so cruel to me? First, I lost my family, then I'm abused by my foster family, then I fell in love with a man who may or may not love me back but still treats me like a toy. Now to top it all off I am pregnant with said mans child and my baby may or may not survive! I just don't understand why I am the subject of all mistreatment!' Amu thought sadly to herself as she laid on her bed. Amu continued to cry until her body felt exhausted and she eventually drifted into the darkest, completely consumed by sleep.

Later that night

"No, give me my baby back! Don't take my baby away!" Amu screamed n the middle of the night. Rima, who was sleeping soundly in her room, woke with a start and rushed into the screaming girl's room. Rima gently shook Amu's body, trying to wake her up from her nightmare.

"Amu, Amu, wake up!" Rima said while she shook the pinkette's' body a little harder, she was definitely having a nightmare. "Leave me alone!" Amu screamed before her body jolted up as she sat on her bed panting heavily. She blinked her eyes several times before inhaled deeply and glanced at her surrounding. That's when she spotted Rima; the blond looked at her with worry.

"Amu, Amu, its okay!" Rima said to the pinkette when she stopped screaming and completely awake. Amu hugged Rima immediately, her nightmare completely rattling her. She didn't want to lose her baby, not to Ikuto or anyone else, the baby was hers and hers only. Nobody could change that fact!

"Amu, what happen?" Rima asked when she felt her Amu had completely calm down, Amu shook her head indicating that she didn't want to talk about it right now. Rima understanding Amu's wishes, hugged the pinkette for the last time before she left for her room. "You know where my room is, come on in if you need anything. I will be here for you." The blond said as she closed the bedrooms' door slowly.

Amu inhaled deeply before she laid back on her bed and let herself submitted to the unconscious once again, praying the nightmares will not come back.

The next morning, Amu woke up to the sound of rain pounding against the pavement. The sound was soothing, almost pulling Amu back to slumber but her stomach had other plans. A huge wave of nausea washed over Amu. She bolted from her bed and clumsily ran to the bathroom down the hall.

After throwing up everything she seemed to have eaten the night before, Amu rinsed her mouth out and brushed her teeth. "Ugh, morning sickness sucks!" Amu said aloud, taking off her clothes and taking a quick shower to start her day. When she was done with her shower, Amu wrapped herself in a towel and made her way back to her room. The pinkette finished drying off and dressed herself in her school uniform. Amu also through on a baggy gray hoodie over her outer jacket, hiding the almost none existent bulge that was beginning to form on her stomach.

Once she finished get dress, she brushed her bubble gum pink haired and added a x-shape Clip on top of it. She glanced at the mirror to check her appearance; once she was satisfied she walked down stairs towards the dining room to join everyone for breakfast.

Today's breakfast was French toast with a glass of orange juice, it looked so yummy! After inhaling everything on her plate, Mrs. Mashiro gave Amu her prenatal vitamins and told her not to forget to take them. Amu smiled in thanks and stuffed the pills into her back pack. Mrs. Mashiro also asked her daughter to make sure the pinkette took her medication at lunch. Rima nodded in understanding before standing up, grabbing her bag and both girls bid her parents farewell. With Amu hot on her trail to the door the two young teenage girls ran outside under and umbrella Amu had grabbed and jumped into the car to go to school.

Amu Pov.

School was exciting as it could get, nothing new, it was just like any other day. Rima and I went to our classes, took some notes and so on. However, when lunch time had arrived that's when things started to take a twist.

Rima and I were in line for our lunch when Yaya came rushing over. "hey guys, hurry up and get your lunches. Yaya has a surprise for you!" She said while jumping up and down in excitement. I was just about to ask her what it was, but Yaya being Yaya didn't give me the chance before running off into the crowded cafeteria.

"what was that all about?" Rima asked, confusion clearly on her small angelic face. I just shrugged and picked up a Chicken César salad and an apple to put on my tray. I also got some lemonade, and a vanilla yogurt to go with it. Seeing all the healthy food choices I was making reminded Rima of something.

"Hey Amu?" Rima whispered quietly, leaning in closer to I could hear better. "Yeah, what is it?" I asked. It was quiet for a moment before Rima just said never mind and to wait till we sat down. I shook my head and walked over to pay for my lunch.

When Rima and I reached our regular table we were surprised to Yaya wasn't there yet. We both sat down and began to eat our lunch. Just as I was about to dig into my chicken salad Rima stopped me. " Um, Amu you better take your vitamins, remember? You have to stay healthy, so no slacking." Rima said quietly so no one over heard. I smiled gratefully at my best friends before giving my thanks to the reminder.

I was leaning down into my bag, searching for my prenatal vitamins, when I heard someone walk up to our table. I grabbed my bottle of vitamins and looked up. Rima was sitting there with her mouth agape. I could see why too. Yaya was standing in front of us, clinging to his arm tightly I might add, with a boy!

I quickly sat up straight and held the bottle of vitamins in my lap. Yaya and the boy sat down and yaya explained her surprise. Apparently this was her keeping her promise to introduce the young man to her friends.

The young man smiles after Yaya explained and turned to Rima. He reached out his hand politely and said, " Hello, My name is Sanjo Musashi. It's nice to finally meet you." he said happily. "My name is Mashiro Rima." Rima introduced herself casually, the green haired boy then turned his attention to me before sticking his hand out to shake my hand.

when he introduced himself I swear I could actually feel the tension spread throughout my body, needless to say couldn't move. He looked a lot like Kairi, one of Ikutos' best friends, and people didn't know any better you could have mistaken them as twins for god sake! The only thing about Musahi that was different was that he doesn't wear eyeglasses.

I gulped down the saliva building in my throat before opening my mouth, "I-I am Hinamori Amu, p-please to meet you." Amu said in a shaky voice, taking his hand and giving it a quick shake. "Nice to meet you too." Musashi replied to the nervous girl.

Normal Pov.

As a quick distraction to keep her mind off the boy sitting across from her, Amu opened her bottle of prenatal vitamins and took one of the lager looking pills out. Unfortunately for Amu, Yaya saw this, thinking it was candy she snatched the pill out of Amu's hand and looked at it. "Amu, is this candy? Yaya has never seen this candy before! Can I have it?" Yaya exclaimed, causing everyone at out table to turn and look at her.

Panic quickly flashed in both Rima and the pinkette's eyes before Amu responding to a hyper active Yaya who was bouncing up and down in her chair. "Um Yaya that is not candy. Can you please give it back?" Amu asked nervously while rubbing the back of her head. Yaya frowned and handed the "Not piece of candy" back to Amu.

"Well If it's not candy, then what may I ask is it Hinamori-san?" Musashi asked curiously. Before Amu could say anything Rima jumped in to save the day. "You remember how Amu was feeling sick the other day Yaya?" Rima asked the baby faced girl. Yaya nodded her head and waited for Rima to continue. "Well, Amu went to the doctor and they said Amu needs to start taking better care of her health. Like taking vitamins, eating better and exercising. This are just some of the vitamins the doctor gave Amu." Rima explained, pointing to the bottle Amu held up.

Thankfully Amu covered the label that said prenatal care on it before shoving the bottle back into her bag.

Everyone seemed to except Rima's answer and went back to eating lunch. When no one was looking Amu too her Vitamin and finished her lunch. About half way through lunch Musashi bid the girls a farewell and left the lunch room.

After he left Amu let some of the tension leave her muscles and relaxed. She turned her attention back to her friends who were chatting aimlessly.

"Oh Amu, Rima, both of you are invited to my family business ball!" Yaya exclaimed, reaching into her bag next to her. She pulled out to Pink envelops and handed one to each of her fiends.

The Yuiki family's yearly business ball would be held next week and all of their business partners and sponsors were going to attend the ball. "So do you think you all can go? Yaya inquired. Both the girls smiled and nodded happily. It would be fun to dance around and have some fun. Rima noticed Yaya was playing with another invitation on her hand. "Who's is that Yaya?" Rima asked and Yaya replied with her bubbly character as usual, "For Sanjo! I forgot to give it to Musashi before he left lunch. Actually, how would you both like to accompany me to his house after school? You know, so I can give him the invitation!"

Both of the girls nodded their heads, it was hard to turned down Yaya's request to got with her because she would probably cry out loud, it was more annoying to heat that than actually accompanying her to Musashi's house.

The bell rang and the girls made there way back to class, after a quick stop to there lockers. The day dragged on, the clock ticking bye slowly until they were in their final class.

When it finally came time to go home, the three girls met up in the parking lot of the school. When they are ready to go they setting off in the direction Yaya said Musashi's house should be.

It took a while seeing as they were walking today, but they finally made it to the Sanjo's household. They arrived at the front gate, Rima pushed a little button that rang like a telephone before some spoke through a speaker, "Hello, What is your business here today." Rima sighed at the wait before explaining, "We are friends of Sanjo Musashi. We are just her to drop off his invitation. He forgot it as school today." Rima said exasperated. After a moment the speaker told up to come in and let the gate open. We walked up the long drive way until we made it to the front door.

Yaya knocked on the door a few times before standing back and waiting with her two friends. A minuet later the door opened it revealed someone that Amu had never wanted to meet again. In front of them, stood the most intelligent boy Amu had ever met, and the best friend of Tsukiyomi Ikuto, Sanjo Kairi.

"Hello Hinamori-san, it nice to see you again." The boy with glasses greeted Amu who was still frozen in her spot at the door. Amu could only think one thing at that moment.

'Fuck my life.'
