A/N: Hello everyone! I am soooooooooooooo sorry that it's been forever since I posted another chapter. I'm trying to get on a schedule of how often I update but it just hasn't worked out in my favor.

So, just curious, would anyone read an Elijah/OC/Marcel Originals story. I haven't seen too many of those and lately those two have been my fav characters on the show. Please let me know! J

Thank you guys so much for reading and reviewing.

Special thanks to .1884 for your thoughts and input. I really appreciate it! J

Stefan's POV

Alcohol is a wonderful thing. It numbs emotional pain. However, it doesn't last, it eventually fades and now I'm stuck with knowing how much of an idiot I truly am.

After the fight I had with Ellie I couldn't stop thinking about it. I should have told her about Klaus. Why didn't I tell her? Why did I think it was smart to lie to her?

I know I said I'd give her time to think but it's only been three days and I'm missing her like CRAZY. The other night she went over to Klaus' but I guess that didn't go as planned either. She called saying they had a 'disagreement.' Now she's back at the lake house with Damon helping train Jeremy. She said she forgave me, but I know she's still angry and hurt, so I think the training would help give her a distraction. To be honest I can't blame her for how she feels or wanting to get away for a bit.

I was currently at the grill, drinking and thinking of how I can make it up to Ellie when Caroline called.

"Hey, you just missed the mandatory all-school assembly."

"Well, that's because I'm at a mandatory all-day drinking party."

"Seriously? You decide to go on a ripper binge now?!" She asked.

"I lied to Ellie. We got into a fight. I haven't spoken to her in three days. It kinda puts a damper on things."

"Okay first, just give her time. She's hurt and angry but she'll come around. Second, Tyler is spiraling so he gets top priority." She said. If that was her attempt at comforting it was really crappy. But it was a good try.

"His mother died. What do you expect?"

"I'm his girlfriend. I expect him to talk to me. Instead he's all angry, and it doesn't help that everyone keeps referring to his mother's death as an accident, which is just a really polite way of saying she was drunk… do you think Klaus had something to do with this?" She asked. I wouldn't put it past him.

"Well I don't think he and Ellie 'disagreed' about table settings."

"Ugh, just get it together. I can't do it alone." She said. What did she expect me to do?

Jeremy's POV (Gilbert Lake House)

Damon was on the phone probably listening to the voicemail from my sister that he keeps playing over and over again. Ellie was sitting on the picnic table watching Matt and I spar.

"Alright. Go ahead, come at me." I said preparing to fight.

"I drove up here to be your wingman, not kick your ass." Fine then. He wanted to be smart so I flipped him over and grabbed his arm to keep him from moving.

He tapped out once he realized he was stuck. "Okay I get it I get it. You're a badass."

I let him go and looked at Ellie. "Did you see that?" I asked probably a little too excitedly.

Damon stuck his fat head in, "You couldn't miss it. It was in slow motion."

"Shut up Damon." Ellie spoke up. "It was good Jeremy. Still need a little work, so you're potential badass. It's obvious you can take down a human, but you need to be quick enough to put down a vampire."

"She's right." Damon said and threw me a stake. "Take a seat at the bench quarterback. Kid wants a shot at the title."

"Jeremy, you're not ready for this." Matt said sitting next to Ellie.

"He needs to fight a vampire if he wants to beat a vampire. I'd rather he fight Damon then a vampire that would kill him." Ellie said to him.

"We don't know he won't kill me." I told her.

"If he does I'll kill him. Let that be his incentive."

"I'm not gonna get stuck with a hunter's curse anyway. So for now, you're safe." Damon said.

"Comforting." Ellie muttered under her breath.

I ran towards Damon trying to catch him off guard. It didn't really work because he ducked. When I turned around he grabbed me by the throat.

"Now all I gotta do, is apply a little pressure under your jaw." He said putting pressure under my chin closing off my air way.

The pizza delivery truck drove up. "Really. Again?" Damon said and I tapped on his hand to release me.

"Double pepperoni three days in a row. You guys eat anything else?" The pizza girl asked.

"Why are you offering?" Damon asked her.

"Damon." Ellie warned. I loved Ellie being here. Not only was she great company and a really good trainer, but she controlled Damon. It was fun watching Damon be put in his place. We've also gotten closer because of the whole hunter/protector thing. She's a great girl and a great friend.

"Fine." He said to Ellie. He pulled out some money from his pocket. "That's something extra to cut off the pizza pipeline for a couple of days. No matter how much they beg, don't come back." He said to the pizza girl.

"Sorry guys." She said and left.

"What, you're going to starve us now?" I asked him. Just because he's in a mood because of Elena doesn't mean he has to be a dick.

"If that's what it takes to make you a hunter." He said.

"I won't let you starve. However, you guys have had way too much pizza lately so I'll take this because I'm hungry." She said taking the pizza from Damon.

"And you guys can run around the lake, twice." Damon said.

Matt and I looked at Ellie hoping she would save us. "Just humor him and then you can eat."

Stefan's POV

I was still at the grill, still drowning my sorrows when I got a call from an unkown caller. That was never good.

"What?" I answered the phone irritated.

"Guess who?" Rebekah answered. Fantastic. "I'm back, dagger free, and I'm holding Elena hostage at the high school. Just thought you should know."

"Who the hell was dumb enough to pull that dagger out of you?"

"I'll be asking the questions today. See you soon." She said and hung up.

I may not be with Elena anymore but that didn't mean I was going to leave her to the mercy of Rebekah. I finished off my drink and called Caroline.

"I'm only ready to talk if you're ready to rejoin civilization." She answered.

I stood up walking out of the grill. "How would you like to help me save Elena from the hands of Rebekah?" I knew Caroline would try to use the white oak stake, but no matter how much I wanted to I was already on the outs with Ellie for trying to kill Klaus. I didn't want to give her more reasons to hate me.

"If it means that you're not drinking your way through the Mystic Grill, sure." I got to the school and started looking for Rebekah. Caroline texted me saying the second floor was clear. I hadn't noticed anything odd on the first floor until I heard the faint 'woosh' of air. I texted Caroline telling her where I was when I saw Rebekah.

"Hello Stefan."

"I'm here. What do you want?" I asked her.

"The same thing I wanted when you helped Niklaus dagger me."

"The cure." I said. She pushed me against the lockers but I spun her around and pinned her by her neck.

"I hope you're not waiting for Caroline to show up and stop me…" She said and pulled out the white oak stake. "because I already found her."

Shit. I would've asked her why she was doing this to her friend's boyfriend when I realized she didn't know we were together and I didn't really want to tell her at this point. I just want to get the hell out of here.

She pulled me into the library where she was keeping Elena, Caroline, and April.

"Stefan." Elena muttered and stood up.

"Did I say you could move?"

I pulled my arm from Rebekah's grip and sat down.

"Class is in session. You've all been compelled; you know the rules. Answer my questions honestly, no disobedience, no one leaves. April, my sweet, take notes. This is how you get answers in this town. Let's start with a little quiz. In the year 1114, my brother learnt, thanks to yours truly, about a brotherhood of vampire hunters with tattoos that grew with each kill. These tattoos revealed what, Elena?"

"A map."

"Which led to… Caroline?"

"A cure for vampirism."

"Perfect. So we're all caught up. Stefan Salvatore, the last time we saw each other, you had a vampire hunter, but in order to decode the map, you needed the location of the hunter's sword, which you got out of me using some very dirty tricks. Assuming you found the sword, you also found the cure, and yet, you're all still vampires, which means something went wrong." Rebekah said pacing around the table. "What are you doing?" She asked April.

"Oh, you asked me to take notes." April answered.

"I wasn't being literal darling. But now that you mention it a flow chart would be nice, which means index cards and push pins. Go fetch." She shooed April away.

"You're wasting your time. We don't know anything." I told her. I really didn't have the time or patience for this.

"So you just gave up? I thought you would do anything to save Elena, even if you have to drive Jeremy to kill vampires?" Rebekah asked trying to get to me.

"Things changed."

"I'm missing something. What is it?" Rebekah asked.

It was quiet until longer until Caroline spoke up. "They broke up okay!"

"There's something else though. Come on you're compelled to tell me so say it."

"Ellie and I are together." I finally told her.

Elena looked up surprised. What?

"Now you know alright? So let us go." Caroline said.

"Well what do you know? I can't really say I didn't see that coming. All that sexual tension between you two at our dinner was suffocating. Congrats. I'm happy for you two. I actually like Ellie and I'm glad she's happy." Rebekah said.

She glanced at Elena seeing the surprised look on her face. If I didn't know any better I'd say she looked hurt too but I could just be imagining things.

Rebekah must've seen it too because then she asked, "Why do you look so surprised?"

"He just moved on fast that's all." Elena muttered.

"And you didn't? You slept with my brother right after we broke up. You can't expect me to not move on too." I told her kind of angrily.

"She only slept with Damon because she's sired to him." Caroline tried to defend Elena.

"A sire bond? Even more fascinating!" Rebekah exclaimed and sat down excitedly like she was about to watch a new movie for the first time.

"I didn't sleep with Damon because I'm sired to him, I slept with him because I love him." Elena said.

Oh I figured as much.

Damon's POV (at the lake house)

Jeremy was loading wooden bullets into a gun chamber, rather slowly, and Ellie was sitting on top of the picnic table while I was trying not to lose my patience with the hunter. Honestly if Ellie wasn't here I would've lost my patience by now and strangled him.

Jeremy finished loading the gun and handed it to me. I took the chamber out and started taking the bullets out. "Good, now, do it like your life depends on it, cause it does."

Jeremy stood up. "Don't act like you care about my life. You care about the hunter's mark and curing Elena so she's not sired to your ass."

"Both require you to be alive. Which is why I updated our relationship status to 'it's complicated.'"

"Hey now girls, no need to fight, you're both pretty." Ellie said from where she was sitting. I cracked a smile and she and Jeremy shared a look. They've blossomed a good friendship since she's his 'protector' now.

Lucky for me Ellie had 'basically' forgiven me for lying to her. I know I still have some making up to do but we're basically how we were which I was thankful for. Out of everyone, she was one of the few people I needed on my side. That and when she's pissed off… beware.

"I'm sorry. Did I interrupt play time?" Great. Klaus is here.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Jeremy said and Ellie stood up.

"I'm simply appreciating the sights and smells of nature, neither of which presently include rotting vampire flesh, so I'm a bit concerned. How many vampires has he killed?" He asked. I notice the looks he was sending Ellie. I knew they got into a fight, it was also part of the reason why she was here, but Ellie didn't react.

"If we throw Jeremy into the real world now he's chum." I explained to him.

"Yeah, see, that's not a number. Twelve: that's a number. That's how many of my hybrids I slaughtered with my sword. Three: that's how many days it took to quell the urge to kill your brother after he knowingly watched as I walked into a death trap. One: that's the number of purposes you serve. You are here to help the lovely Ellie grow Jeremy's mark, so I'll ask again… How many vampires has he killed?" Klaus asked.

Just to piss him off I whispered, "Zero."

He smirked at me with his stupid face. "That's a pity. I'm going to need that cure sooner rather than later… hybrid shortage and all. How can I help?"

Ellie spoke up from her place next the table and slightly in front of me. "You know, since you mentioned it… observe Little Gilbert." In the blink of an eye Ellie grabbed the gun, loaded it and shot Klaus three times. "That's for Carol Lockwood… jackass." She stated calmly and walked away.

Jeremy had a look of sheer awe on his face and for once I could agree with him. I can honestly say I have never been more proud of Ellie.

Stefan's POV

"So Stefan finally dropped the doppelgänger bitch and found someone who is truly worthy of him. And since Elena is so "in love" with Damon I guess it all worked out for the best. But that doesn't explain why Elena would be sooo hurt that Stefan has moved on himself. So Elena what do you have to say about this?" Rebekah said looking at Elena.

"I say you're sad and bored and in desperate need of a hobby." Elena avoided the question.

"You're hiding something. Fess up." Rebekah compelled her.

"Ellie stole everything from me. She waltzes in and next thing I know Stefan's falling for her when he's supposed to be in love with me. I think she's a bitch and I can't stand her." Elena said. After she finished talking she had a look on her face like 'I can't believe I just said that.'

No amount of words could explain how angry I was at what Elena just said. I kept my mouth shut because I knew if I opened my mouth I would explode. Everyone's attention was on me while I just avoided their stares trying to rein in my temper.

Caroline finally broke the silence. "What does any of this have to do with the stupid cure?"

"You're right we got off the point. Stefan, how do I find the cure? Unless you would rather talk about Elena's raging jealousy issues." Rebekah asked me.

I answered her through clenched teeth. "There's a professor. He knows where the cure is."

"Thank you. And, uh, where do I find this professor?"

Tyler's POV

I was at home drinking, more, when my phone started ringing from the table in the hallway. It was Caroline. Ugh.

"I told you, I don't wanna talk." I answered.

"I heard, and you're keeping all that rage bottled up inside. Caroline's worried sick about you." A voice that wasn't Caroline's said.

"Rebekah?"

"Hello, Tyler. I heard my brother made a real mess of your life. Believe me, I can relate. You have my condolences. In fact, why don't you come down to the high school so you can accept them in person?"

"And why would I do that?" I asked the crazy lady.

"Because I have your girlfriend. Maybe you have a better shot saving her than you did your mother. Bye now." She hung up.

All I wanted to do was throw my phone against the wall and drink more at the reminder of my mother, but I had to help Caroline. However, I knew I couldn't do it on my own so I called the one person who I knew could help. Ellie.

The phone rang a few times before she answered, "Hello?"

"Ellie. It's Tyler Lockwood. I need your help."

"Why what's going on?" She said starting to get worried.

"Rebekah has Caroline at the school. I wouldn't have called if it wasn't urgent but no one else can handle an original like you can." I explained.

"No, no, don't worry about it I'm glad you called. Stefan's not answering his phone either which makes me assume that she has him too. Look I'm still at the lake house so it will be a little bit before I get there. But I want you to go ahead and go to the school and find out what she wants. Call me as soon as you know what's going on."

"Thanks Ellie. I appreciate it." I told her. I have a feeling that even if Stefan wasn't involved that Ellie would still be helping me.

"No problem. Oh and Tyler? I'm sorry about your mom. She didn't deserve that. I know this won't really help but I shot Nik a couple times for it."

"Thank you. Wait… you shot him?" I asked surprised.

"Yeah three times. Once for your mom, once for you, and an extra for the fun of it. He deserved it."

I had to laugh. It was just too great. "Thank you Ellie. That means a lot."

"You are quite welcome. Now get to the school and call me when you find out what Rebekah's up too." She said and hung up.

I know it wasn't going to bring my mom back, and it's nowhere close to even half the pain that Klaus has caused me, but the fact that he suffered at least a little bit of pain for what he did really did help.

Now to save my girl.

Stefan's POV

Rebekah had called Tyler to the school and Kol brought Shane. I had a feeling that we might not be seeing him again.

Now that Rebekah knew all she could about the cure she decided to get rid of the rest of us so there's no competition. So she compelled Tyler to turn. We were all running for our lives and Elena and I made it to a classroom away from Tyler. The room was filled with nothing but awkward silence.

"Stefan we have to talk about this." Elena said.

"What's there to talk about Elena?" I said turning to her and throwing my arms out. "The fact that you hate Ellie or that you think I should still be in love with you?"

"I don't hate Ellie. I just don't like her." She said frustrated.

"What has she done that's so horrible? You mean how she brought me happiness and love? Is it such a sin for me to be happy WITHOUT you?!" I exclaimed.

"She broke your heart Stefan! She walked away all those years ago, and you just take her back like it's nothing."

"I did not just 'take her back.' I had my own frustrations and problems that I worked through in getting over that. She came back, she apologized again and again and made up for it. I've moved on, I am finally happy. I'm in love with Ellie, and I'm happy. You're in love with Damon, and you're happy! What is the problem?" I asked her.

"I just don't see how you can look past those things."

"You mean like you did with Damon?" I asked snidely.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Look at all the things Damon has done since he walked into your life. He used your friend, tried to kill her, he DID kill Jeremy, fed you vampire blood against your will and you looked past all of that, yet you have the nerve to tell me that I shouldn't accept what Ellie did? You're a hypocrite Elena." I told her angrily.

"What about the things she's done to me?" She asked angrily. That's all there was in this room right now was anger and frustration.

"What in the hell has she done to you?"

"She took you away. You're supposed to be in love with me! Not her!" She yelled like she was finally letting go of the information.

The silence in the room would have drove the sanest person mad at this point.

"And you can't be happy unless both Salvatore's are begging for your attention can you?" I asked her with venom in my tone.

She looked lost. Like she didn't know what to say until she finally came up with, "That's not what I meant."

"Oh I know exactly what you meant Elena. I'm not allowed to be happy, unless I'm in love with you. You're more like Katherine than I thought."

I looked out the window of the classroom and noticed that it was quiet and Tyler was no longer around. I'd take my chances anyway because the thought of being in the same room with her for another minute was too much to handle. I was about to lose it.

I walked out of the classroom silently and angrily, throwing the door open on my way.

"Stefan. No wait Stefan." She said following, asking me to stay. But there was no way I was listening to her anymore. I'm done.

(Salvatore Boarding House)

I was sitting on the couch nursing a bottle of bourbon. I still hadn't heard from Ellie. She might have tried to call me but my phone was held hostage by Rebekah at the school and there was no way I was going back there.

I had barely started on the bottle when I heard the front door open.

"Stefan?" Ellie said running into the room looking worried.

"Ellie!" I exclaimed and flashed over to her pulling her into my arms. Now that she was here I felt a million times better. I pulled back, grabbed her face, planted my lips firmly on hers and she responded immediately. Based on the kiss I could tell that she missed me as much as I missed her. Knowing that my girl missed me was an amazing feeling.

When we were finally able to pull away from each other I set my forehead against hers and stared into her amazing blue-green eyes. The eyes of my angel. I couldn't wipe the smile from my face, nor could she.

"I have missed, so much." I told her softly caressing her face.

She put her hands on mine. "I've missed you too."

We were sitting on the couch snuggled up together while I explained to her what Rebekah wanted and why she took me, Caroline, and… Elena. Even her name right now didn't settle well with me.

"Why did you come back? I thought you would still be at the lake house with Jeremy?" I asked her while I played with her fingers.

Her other hand was in my hair while massaging my head and honestly it took every ounce of will power I had not to jump her right there. Even though we're together again we still hadn't been… together. There just never seemed to be a right time what with everything going on, especially with our fight the last few days, but lately the urge was just constant.

"Well I had tried to call you and you weren't answering. Then I got a call from Tyler telling me that Rebekah had Caroline at the school and I knew she had you too. So I left the lake house and went to the school but by the time I got there you were gone. I found Caroline and Tyler in the gym and they said they hadn't seen you so I came straight here to find you." She explained.

I gave her a sly look. "So you were worried about me?"

"Just a little." She winked at me. "So there's something I've been wondering while I was away at the lake house…" She trailed off.

"Yeah? What's that?"

"It's just this whole cure thing. I know you've wanted nothing more than to live a normal human life. To grow old, get married, have kids, and die human. So if we do find this cure… would you take it?" She asked a little shy.

"You're right. There is nothing I've wanted more than to live normally. To have a wife and kids, go to work after dropping the kids off at school, come home to my family where we all have family dinner at 6 o'clock while we talk about our human day. And then I met you, and I found you again. Now all of those things don't mean anything unless I have them with you. So if living normally means living without you then I don't want to take the cure."

She looked at me with tears forming in her eyes. I started to worry and thought back to what I said that could've upset her. But I lost all train of thought when she leaned forward and kissed me.

When she pulled away she looked at me with the most loving eyes and it made me feel like the luckiest man in the world. To have this amazing woman look at me the way she does and love me the way she does is enough to make me happy for the rest of my life.

Of course I've thought about taking the cure. Who hasn't? But when I thought about it I realized I didn't want it unless I had Ellie by my side. And I would never make her do something that she didn't want to do, like taking the cure.

"What about you? Would you want to be human again?" I asked when we separated.

"Ya know honestly it's been so long that I don't even know what 'human' feels like. And I've never been normal, I mean I was always a witch. But I have thought about taking the cure, and I have fears about it." She explained.

"Like what?" I was confused on why she would be scared about the cure.

"When a witch turns into a vampire they lose their powers. I kept mine. And since I'm some, protector of the five kind of thing that means that I was always meant to be what I am. The malefica mortus. What if it doesn't work on me? What if the cure doesn't make me human again because I was always meant to be this? Or even worse, what if it kills me?" She asked to herself.

Her last statement was like a bucket of cold water to the face. I understand her fears now and she's right. The magical realm or the witches or whatever it was that made Ellie the way she is, part vampire part witch, made her that way for a reason. And we all know how judgy witches can be, so what if they punish her for trying to change what she is by… killing her.

"Then you won't take it. Simple as that. Put all thought of taking the cure out of your head." I told her simply. Problem solved, there's no risk if she doesn't take the cure.

"But what about you? I want you to be happy Stefan. I want you to get the life you wanted and if you won't to that without me… how can I take that away from you?"

"I will NOT take the risk of this cure killing you. What if we both take it and it ends up killing you? Then I'd be human, miserable, and without you. I would never be able to live with myself knowing you took this cure for me and you died because of it. I would never be able to lose you over something we could have prevented. So we will not take the cure, and we will live the rest of our eternal lives together. I don't need kids and a normal life to be happy anymore. All I need is you." I told her seriously.

She started placing tiny kisses all over my face while I laughed at her. Then she looked me in the eye and said, "You are the greatest man I have ever met. You have no idea how truly amazing you are. So if we're not taking the cure do we just… give up looking for it? I mean it kinda sucks that we spent all this time and struggle going after it to just give up."

"Well Damon and the rest of them aren't going to give up looking for the cure. And no matter how much I can't stand Elena right now, I still owe it to her and my brother to find the cure."

"Can't stand her? Did something else happen at the high school?" She asked confused.

I was about to answer when the front door opened and Rebekah walked in.

"Please, let yourself in." Not only did I hate it when she did that. But her interruption caused Ellie to move away from me and stand up to talk to Rebekah.

"Well, I need someone on my team for the race for the cure." Rebekah said stopping in front of us.

"Why should we help you after you trapped Stefan and let a werewolf loose after him?" Ellie asked.

"Because you are my only friend and you love me. Plus Tyler didn't get Stefan and we found out some lovely things from Elena today."

Ellie turned to me and I gave her a look saying I'll tell you later.

"You still want to find the cure?" I asked Rebekah.

"More than anything. But Shane's dead, and you're useless. So, I'm right back where I started."

"Shane's not dead." I told her.

"But I watched Kol impale him."

"Bonnie did a little spell. He's perfectly fine. However, Elena is still sired to my brother, and he deserves real love, not some sired love. He has to know how she really feels about him. So we still need to find the cure." I explained to her pouring a glass of bourbon for the three of us.

"Well, if you really want the cure, you should know that Shane has an agenda, and it's a dark one. He said he organized dozens of people to die in sacrifice, he admitted to the council explosion where twelve people died, and I'm guessing it's not a coincidence that twelve hybrids died at the hand of my brother.

"Twelve." Ellie said. "Channeling the energy from mass death is used in witchcraft to perform dark spells. It's called Expression, which is dark magic. Shane admitted all this to you?" She asked Rebekah.

"Proudly."

"Well then I guess we'll have to figure out how to manage him while we find the cure ourselves. Now Ellie and I don't want the cure, so we'll leave it up to you to decide what to do with it, who gets it and what not. As long as you leave enough for Damon and Elena."

Rebekah looked hesitant.

"You either except our terms, or you're left to search for the cure on your own." Ellie said then held up her glass. "Do we have a deal?"
