-Lovely nights and Lovely frights- Chapter 14 -Part 2
Bonnie and Damon didn't exactly realize just how far into the facility they were; approximately 3 miles into the earth. On top of that it seemed as if they were in the middle of it as well, but what is the problem? Why not teleport again? Well given that the first time she did it, it tossed them around and further in than needed, leaving the both of them lost. No one had any plans of going this far in, so Bonnie decided that teleporting was out of question; she hasn't mastered it enough and had taken a chance. So what now? They knew they were well into the facility and that they were lost and most likely further than others. But did not know just how deep in they were.
"Soooo…..got any ideas where we are?" they were walking along this mine shaft like hallway. Bonnie was ahead of him silent, she hadn't spoken for a while but Damon made sure he kept some words coming so they didn't completely bask in what they witnessed. She stopped and look over her shoulder at him, "I have no clue, nothing, no ideas Damon. If anything my breathing feels constricted. And from the look of this place, we're probably more misplaced than we think. Just—I'm thinking, I need to get us out of here." She started walking faster, it was like they were in a real mine shaft. It looked as though it had been dug, or drilled through, to make it a proper hallway. They came up on a small stairwell, Bonnie made Damon go first. He crept up warily and slowly making sure he didn't expose himself to any guards or personnel of their presence; and the group's presence its self. She followed behind looking back just as cautious as he was as they ascended. When they reached the top but not visible yet, they noticed a sign that read:
SECURITY ENTRY LEVEL 5
EARTH – HIVE 1: SUB LEVEL 3
3 MILES UNDER EARTH SURFACE—REFORMING STATIONS
They looked at each other in disbelief, "We're THAT far in?" Damon exclaimed since no one was there to hear him, in fact they were looking at a double sliding doors with a camera facing it. They came fully up from the stairs and stood away from the entrance, "no wonder you couldn't really breathe, we're miles from the surface!" he whisper yelled. She looked around for any other doors, "What are you looking for? Cause I think we'll have to go through these," thumbs pointing at the double doors. She shook her head, "No I think…wait, I can cloak us. But I don't want us to go in any more than we need to. So we'll go in here, take note of whatever we need, and look for a way back up to the surface. I'm done for tonight." Damon brows were raised and he nodded.
They stood before the doors still away from camera and Bonnie held Damon's hand. And he looked down at her; she'd gripped his hand tightly which surprised him given the bad blood. He thought that that firm a grip for a simple spell didn't require such strength, but maybe it did…he didn't know. Suddenly Damon felt a tingle wash over him and she let go, "Are we good? Are weee-invisible now?" she exhaled, "yeah." Now cloaked, they stilled needed to get through the door and she didn't have anything that would let them walk through the wall. If she did, a lot of time and grief could have been diminished. She looked through her pocket grimoire, nothing for phasing, but something for a diversion.
"Okay, so I think we might need to get someone to come out here. Someone to get these doors to open for us so we can walk on in," whispering to Damon not sure if the camera had audio, "like a distraction or something?" looking at the camera, "Yes. What? Why are you staring at the camera?" she asked now looking herself, "what if you did something to the camera? Like short it out or something, someone from in there would have to come and take a look at it—you think that'll work?" he suggested. Bonnie's brow crooked, "That's actually not a bad idea. Let's try it." She looked over at it and made a motion, the camera wiggled and you could see sparks fly from it; success. Now they had to wait and see if someone would come.
Tyler and Stefan ran in to an interesting part of the facility; a birthing unit. The oddity of this was that, if The Arb was trying to cleanse earth of supernaturals then why try and breed them? It went right against their mission, so the two tried getting to the records room that kept ledgers of what, who, and which targets were going to be used for this part of the operation; because no one knew about this plan, no one. Tyler kept watch at the entrance but out of sight so that Stefan could go in and retrieve any information that he could bring back to the group. Luckily the door was unlocked and he just slid right in, upon entering Stefan was met with two file cabinets. He didn't want to take up too much time so he went to the most recent files that were filed and the ledgers from the year before and this year. He left out with three thick ledgers under his arm not having anything to place them in. Stefan came out just in time too, because there was a crowd of people coming towards the unit. He and Tyler quickly got in and elevator that went up, but they didn't know where.
Rebekah and Elena went up to one of the large tanks filled with blood. Looking inside the blood was being churned, almost like an ice cream maker. It was thick as well, they both took a deep and long whiff; the smell was intoxicating but it also smelled off, like it had congealed.
"You said vampire blood Rebekah. How do you know it's not human blood?" still looking in the tank, "I said I think, maybe it is human blood. Human blood congeals after you die anyway, so it probably is. But it doesn't look like it only smells it…I dunno what this is all about right here but let's go and check out that tower up there." Looking at a room that over saw the unit. They sped over and up the stairs; no one was inside for the moment since there was a warm cup of coffee sitting on the switchboard. Rebekah looked at it; they were controls for the tanks below. Some controls said high temp, low pressure, and others were to stop the churning process altogether. But one really caught her eye:
HOMOGENIZE PRESERVE
This had to be that congeal related thing they were talking about. But what was being homogenized in the tanks? And who's blood, human or vampire? She stood contemplating when Elena's harsh gasp interrupted her thoughts, whipping her head around to her, "What?" she whispered. Elena was looking at one of the monitors on the switchboard; she could very clearly see Jeremy and Klaus in a room. They were in here but in another room, how did their entry coincide with where they were? Rebekah came looking over her shoulder, "SHIT! We gotta let them know we can see them somehow!" now alarmed that their stealth mission was in jeopardy, "How? I bet the guard that was sitting here saw them, and went to alert security or something!" Rebekah ran out the tower door not even sure where to go, "we have to go find them ourselves before they do! And then we need to leave, come on!" Elena jumped down the stairs and they both ran pass the tanks and to this black door.
Not wanting bum rush and get caught themselves, one kicked the door to see what happens, nothing. Rebekah eased the door open poking her head in and fully open to reveal and long blue hall. Everything was blue, the ceiling, floors, and walls were a royal like blue. They rushed down the hall with the only option to go right, foolishly Elena yelled out Jeremy's name, "What the hell are you doing! We don't even know if they're in here!" at Elena, "How else are we going to find them then? We don't have any other options and I'm sure we're running out of time," she ran ahead of an annoyed Rebekah and to this next hall, "Jeremy!" he and Klaus were running fast towards her but they couldn't see her. When Jeremy heard his name called he stopped and looked around but was zapped by something from a far. Klaus sped up to him and picked him up running pass Elena unknowingly and where Rebekah still was. Elena followed screaming out Jeremy's name, they were being chased by guards and this part of the facility was now on high alert. Rebekah uncloaked and then cloaked them all, but after she did that she immediately slapped Elena hard to shut her up, "Be quiet to imbecile! You almost got us, caught!" she yelled whispered with her hand on Elena's throat.
They got back to the entry ways and stopped in the rotunda; Klaus laid Jeremy down in the middle of the floor and palmed his face. Elena ran to Jeremy's side cradling him, "Klaus what happened! How'd you get caught?" she bit nastily at him as if she knew he was to blame. He huffed and leaned against the wall, Rebekah was shaking her head side eyeing Elena.
"Your dear little brother decided to trip the alarm system even when I told him that we couldn't go in this particular room," he sounded fatigued. All throughout he'd been worried about Bonnie and how she was doing, hoping they didn't get found out like he did. But then the human pressed on to see if anything important was in there and the door screamed loudly and brought them a nice present of Arb guards. Rebekah was now looking around every five seconds, "what was in the room?" resting Jeremy's head on her thighs, "From what I could understand; an interview room, interrogation, what have you. I knew that it wasn't half as important as the transport station." He looked at entry 8, the one Damon and Bonnie went in. Elena's tension settled; at least he was still breathing, maybe that zap only knocked him unconscious.
"We left out of the previous entry we went in upon arriving here, all of us. Jeremy and I had to turn back because a security door stopped us from going further, so we went for another door but that was just a utility closet. I was fairly frustrated so we came back out here, and went to the one that Kol had seen with the large gate; I must say something we can all agree to is that the security is pretty heavy around here. Anyway, so for a long time there was nothing but rooms, and rooms, and rooms. But then it got to a point where you'd see a lot of cars, with large metal containers and a lot of chains. These chains didn't look normal either; they look like they were made for…well us," Elena gently took Jeremy's head from off her and got up pacing around.
"So what next?" at Klaus to go on, he looked angry, "I thought I caught a familiar scent of someone, I swear I've smelled it before but we got sidetracked over to the area where you met us; one thing though—how'd you know we were there?" asking either. Rebekah sighed, "We saw you two on monitors in the harvesting unit tower I mean Elena did. We assumed or rather took a chance on you being close…hoping you were close," Klaus shut his eyes tight and covered his mouth, "a guard spotted you," Elena added. Klaus gritted his teeth, "I heard Elena calling Jeremy, and I thought 'well I'm glad you found us but my you're idiot!' And then it hit me that we're all in trouble; most importantly Bonnie could be in trouble. I have no idea where she or everyone else is and how far, but we need to leave soon!" he said through his teeth snarling, scathing at Elena, "I'm sorry, I had to get his attention somehow, and needed to know you were close." He held his hand up and leaned on the wall again not speaking for a fifteen minutes.
Caroline and Elijah were now in a part that looked like an auditorium. There was a massive screen overlooking the entire room, Elijah looked on the walls for any info as to what it was for. He saw a placard that read only: Visual Room 1, Caroline looked up to see where the projector room was. Right behind them like in a theater, Elijah followed as she entered the room. He closed the door and they were met with a wall of reels lining the room. They were labeled only with numbers, Elijah took reel number 8 from the wall rack and placed it in the projector, Caroline flipped it on and it began to play. The screen turned black then blue, and several fast images of a person starting from life to death flashed across the massive screen, "Reform…" Elijah mumbled with his brows furrowed, "This is a reforming auditorium! This is meant to change us; it was in a file we went over. Propaganda…" he quickly switched the projector off and took the film from the reel out of it and wrapped it up in a way to fit in his pants pocket. He hid the empty reel in a cabinet and rushed Caroline out of the auditorium.
"So now what Elijah? We going back?" they were now running, "Yes…we need to leave and get back to discuss all of this." They raced down the hallway, and out of this section of the facility. They came back to the oddly regal room, and getting back to the rotunda. They didn't expect to see Kol and Kendra coming out of their entry just as they did looking alarmed.
It was 12:34 a.m.
"Where's Bonnie and Damon?" Kendra asked, no answer, "I hope she's alright." She added.
After waiting a half second for some sort of maintenance to come and see to the camera, Bonnie and Damon were already halfway back towards the top of the facility. It was lucky Bonnie was a witch that knew some helpful spells; they got to see some escape options and hiding spots for when the time came. They also got to see council member as some of the personnel called him Grey Number 4. He was a mid-height, all suit grey wearing man, with silver hair; cold grey eyes and a tight uncomfortable grin. His skin was as pale and washed out as possible and a large grey trench coat rested over his shoulders, all the personnel seemed to be afraid of him. The two invisible supes made a hard lasting mental image of him and what he was controlling as they went onward to get out.
In a safe and quiet hall they were able to talk again, "How far do you think we are now? Damon asked looking around, "I think we have another flight up and then we should be almost back to the rotunda. At least I hope so." Instead of a stairwell they took a lift, it brought them up to where they needed to be, but they were still a ways off from the entries. Because Damon and Bonnie were in inside the Quarry exterior; they were where all those large white tents were with the mini jeeps whipping around.
"Are we still good to go?" he asked as they ran pass the tents and vehicles close to each other, "Yes! But I don't know which door we—" Damon picked her up and ran fast towards the Quarry mound wall. He raced up feet digging deep and fast into the gravel as it crumbled and tumbled down below, "Damon! Be careful we don't want to alert them!" She screamed, "Shhh! I have a feeling that's already happened. But not with us." Bonnie looked confused yet held on as Damon made it over and slid down the graveled mound.
He ran them back to their idle cars and got the doors open and ready, "I have feeling we might need these open. We need to go and see if everyone is in the rotunda. If not we gotta make a decision..." Bonnie hesitated for a split second but followed after Damon as they sprinted back into the rotunda. Everyone was standing around entry 8, "we're right behind you!" Damon yelled and everyone, now including Tyler and Stefan, looked behind them. Klaus flew over to Bonnie hugging her like a vice grip and cupping her chin, "I was worried about you." He whispered before Tyler and Stefan rushed pass them.
"We have to LEAVE RIGHT NOW!" Stefan screamed only a loud echo as they were close to the outside. Everyone followed suit and jumped into the already open door cars, "See I knew we would need this!" Damon exclaimed. The groups sped down the road as a team of security came pointing flashlights into the empty distance.
"Stefan what happened?" Elena yelled freely now, "Tyler got spotted, and they tried to catch him as we made it towards to the rotunda. He's lucky they got held up in the elevator." They made it back to Klaus' flat and everyone rushed in filling the living-room.
They were all quiet for ten minutes before bursting out laughing, "Well I'm sure we all have interesting stuff to share!" Klaus said getting up before they settled down.
"We came this close," Tyler and Stefan, and Klaus looking at a waking Jeremy, "so did we Stefan…"
A/N: Whew! That was close at the last seconds, now they know (Bonnie x Damon) what another council member looks like. Now Bonnie can get ready. Hope y'all enjoyed, and thanks for reading! Sorry that this chapter was blah ish, I'm getting somewhere tho' J
