Disclaimer: I own nothing...sadly

Don't worry! This is actually a REAL update! I hope you like it!

Jake was listening intently as both Tsu'tey and Neytiri explained the old legends to him. While he had been living amongst the Omaticaya for over a year there were still so many things that he didn't know.

"So you mean to tell me that this has happened before?" he asked, still reeling from the discovery of Ash's powers.

"It is called The Light." Tsu'tey explained, "We believed it was only a legend, the elders and our parents would tell us stories of brave warriors who carried great power in their hands. It was believed to have existed in our world many, many years ago, until it was extinguished."

"What do you mean extinguished?" Jake asked.

"At first those who carried The Light were revered, believed to be the Blessed of Eywa," Neytiri continued. "One of our own had been the one to discover it, his name was Ey'tkasan, the Father of the Light, and he taught those in our village how to harness it and soon it was used as a defense for our village. It was because of him that the Omaticaya had the longest standing army in Pandora's history."

"Why have I never heard of this?" Jake asked, "And why haven't I seen any our people doing this?"

"Because it is forbidden." Neytiri continued. "The people grew to fear those who carried the Light, and many civil wars broke out amongst the villages, until the elders of all the villages decided that the Light was no longer welcome on Pandora."

"You mean they killed them?" Jake asked in disbelief, unwilling to believe that the Omaticaya was capable of turning against their own people.

Tsu'tey nodded solemny, "It was a brutal time, many died, many were killed without proof that they had the Light."

"What about Ey'tkasan?" Jake asked suddenly, "What happened to him?"

Neytiri shook her head, "No one knows, when the massacres began he disappeared. Many believed that he was too overcome with grief by the death of his students and he died of a broken heart."

Jake was still trying to process all of this. He looked over to Ash and saw him through the cafeteria window, eating quietly with Mewtwo.

'Who the hell is this kid?' Jake thought to himself.

"How long ago was this?" he asked them.

"The Omaticaya do not keep track of time the way humans do." Neytiri said, "but when we told Grace this story she had told us it would have been five...m-milena?"

"Millennia?" Jake confirmed.

Neytiri nodded her affirmation of the word.

"Five thousand years." Jake said to himself, then in a louder voice. "None of this makes sense! How is any of this even possible!"

Neytiri and Jake knew Jake wasn't expecting them to answer, so they said nothing. Then he noticed Max and Norm waving to him, he turned to Tsu'tey and Neytiri.

"Looks like Norm and Max need me for something," he said, "Neytiri, talk to your mom, see what the council his saying, Tsu'tey stick with Ash and Mewtwo and keep and eye on them."

Tsu'tey bristled.

Jake put on a stern look, "I know you don't like it, and I'm sorry but the People are scared, and so is that kid, not to mention his bodyguard would snap at the slightest threat. You're the only person I can trust to keep the peace between them and our village, and to keep his...friend under control."

Tsu'tey softened, and bowed his head, knowing that Jake was entrusting him with an important task.

"What of the other villages?" Neytiri asked, "What if they discover the child's existence here."

"We remind them that he is here because Eywa has shown him to us, and that he is here under my protection." Jake said firmly. He dismissed them and walked over to where Norm and Max were.

"Hey, what's up?" Jake asked.

"Hey," Norm said, "We just talked to the kid. Did you know he could do that?"

"We were in the council room when he did it." Jake answered. "The elders aren't happy about it."

"That's what we wanted to talk to you about." Maxwell said, "Norm and I remembered Grace telling us a story about that sort of thing only it was the Na'vi doing it."

"She was right," Jake answered, "I just talked to Tsu'tey and Neytiri about it and they told me the same thing."

"There's just no way right?" Max said, "I mean there's no way that a kid-a human kid, should be able to do any of this."

"Apparently we're wrong." Jake deadpanned.

"We won't know for sure until we do some more tests." Norm said.

"Whoa, wait, wait, tests?" Jake asked holding his hands up, looking between the two. "What tests?"

"We asked the kid-

"Ash," Jake interrupted, "His name is Ash."

"Right Ash," Norm continued, "We asked him if we could perform a few tests-

"Why the hell would you need to run tests?" Jake demanded, interrupting again. "He's not some lab rat. He's a kid, a kid whose probably scared out of his mind right now."

"Hey you know that's not what we're trying to say," Norm said angrily, "It's not like we're going to be cutting him open and dissecting his organs."

Jake blew a breath and put his hands to his head, "I know that, I'm sorry but tensions are running high around here. None of the villagers are happy about having a Sky person here so soon after they're supposed to be gone, and the Elders aren't happy about the fact that a human child has a power that was supposed to have gone extinct on their planet over five thousand years ago."

"Look we know you're under a lot of pressure," Max said, "And that's why we want to do some tests, so we can prove that Ash isn't a threat. We promise we're not going to do anything to make Ash uncomfortable."

"He's not the one I'm worried about." Jake said, looking back up at them. "It's his shadow."

"You mean the big cat with the funny tail?" Norm asked.

Jake snorted at that analogy, but it was the first smile he had done all day.

"I'm sure you guys have noticed by now that he's pretty protective of him." Jake said, and he's got some powers too, and I just don't want some type of fight to break out between the village and them."

"Ash seems like a nice kid," Norm observed, "He's got a good head on his shoulder I'm actually surprised at how he's taking all this in stride, and the big cat seems to listen to him."

"That's not what I mean." Jake said, "If a fight breaks out in the village, the other villages will hear about it and they might come to investigate."

"And then they'll know that you're harboring a human child." Max said catching onto his train of thought.

"That could mean trouble for the village," Jake explained, "Even more so if they find out about his abilities."

"What do you mean?" Max asked.

"The people who had this power were killed Max." Jake explained patiently, "What do you think will happen to Ash when they find out about him?"

"Wait...they wouldn't would they?" Norm asked, "I mean he's a kid for Christ's sake."

"You and I both know that doesn't matter to them Norm." Jake said seriously, "That's why I want you guys to keep this as under the wraps as possible. The less people who know about this the better."

Both Norm and Max nodded in agreement.

Ash was pushing his food around on his tray barely picking at it.

"You need to eat Ash." Mewtwo prompted.

"I'm not very hungry." Ash said.

"You should still eat," Mewtwo urged. "You must keep your strength up."

"Mewtwo they won't hurt us." Ash explained.

"I do not trust scientists Ash." Mewtwo said, "Believe me, I've seen the darker side to what they are capable of."

"I'll be fine," Ash reassured, "Besides you'll be there right."

"You are not leaving my sight, for even a second." Mewtwo said.

They were startled by loud footsteps and surprised to see Tsu'tey sitting on the floor next to their table.

"Hi Tsu'tey." Ash greeted.

"What are you doing here?" Mewtwo demanded.

Tsu'tey scowled. "Jake has instructed me to watch over you and the Sky Person and keep you from causing trouble in our village."

Mewtwo immediately rose out of his seat, "You dare to accuse us of causing trouble when you and your people have done nothing but attack and provoke us!"

"Creatures like you do not belong here in the first place!" Tsu'tey snarled, raising his head above Mewtwo's. Even sitting down he still towered over both Ash and Mewtwo.

Ash slammed his hands on the table, and stood up, causing the trays, cups and silverware to clatter.

"Would you guys knock it off." he snapped, "Things are bad enough around here in the first place. You two fighting it out isn't going to fix that!"

He heard some whispers and looked over to see some of the Omaticaya looking over at them pointing and whispering at Ash. They did not look friendly.

Ash deflated, He swung his legs over the bench, "I'm going for a walk."

He walked out the exit of the cafeteria and into the forest, Mewtwo glared once more at Tsu'tey and moved to follow Ash. Tsu'tey scowled behind them and then grudgingly got up and followed them as well.
