Chapter 14

She ran towards the guild door, opened it, and ran away. She didn't even manage to close the doors, she was too eager to find him.

Come on, where are you when I need you the most? She panted as she looked for him in different places.

Finally! She smiled as she saw the guy she wanted to see, "I see you're only here, Natsu!"

"Oh, hi Luce! Why? Were you looking for me?"

She nodded and sat next to the fishing fire mage, "What are you doing? Are these for Happy?" she asked as she looked at the basket of seafood.

"… Yup! We kinda fought a little earlier…"

"I see, you want to make up for what you did." She chuckled.

"Well… he's my best pal, I can't just sit here and do nothing while he's angry at me. Why were you looking for me anyway?"

"… Nothing, I just… I just want to talk with you; it's been a while since we last hang-out…"

"Oh, okay. But what about Gray? Won't he get jealous? Or… did you two fight again? Don't tell me you need me again to bring you to his house and—"

"No," she waved her hands, "Gray and I… we're over. Well to start with, we were never even actually going out."

"What? Wait! Is your fight really that serious that you even pretend as if nothing happened?"

"No, Natsu. I'm actually telling the truth. And I'm sorry for deceiving everyone, including you."

He scratched his head, showing how puzzled he was, "I don't get it."

"Too cut the long story short, Gray asked me to pretend as his girlfriend to drive Juvia away from stalking him. Once she stops stalking him, we agreed to stop too."

"Ohh, so Juvia already gave up?"

She nodded.

"Okay, so what's the problem?"

"What problem?"

"Come on, Luce! I know you came here because you have a problem, otherwise, you won't run your way to me! Look at all that sweat!"

She was flustered as she wiped her sweat from her neck, "I don't have a problem, seriously. But I'm confused. Gray said he likes me… but when I told her that Juvia talked to me and told me that she won't bother him anymore, all he said was 'Well then I guess you're free'"

"Well, if he really said that he likes you, he should've told you 'Okay, but I don't want this to end yet…', right? Is that what you're thinking? I guess you have a point. But Gray's really a moron, so don't get shocked if he throws random fits at times." He laughed.

"Natsu!" she puckered.

"What? I wasn't kidding!" he stopped laughing, "Okay, I am not really an expert when it comes to these kinds of things so I don't get why you're asking me this. But from my point of view, if he likes you, there would be a reason for why he said that…" he looked at her and then brighten up as if he had an idea, "Say, what did you reply when he told you he likes you?"

"I… I told him to stop because we agreed to not fall in love with each other while doing the act."

"And when you finally stopped, did you give him the chance to at least show his feelings for you?"

"Well, I don't think so… actually I think I might have said something that could've really shut him up…"

"And what might that be?"

She quite reddened, "I told him… I kinda told him that I like somebody else…"

"You did what?" he scratched his head again, "Why did you say that? Was that an alibi or—"

"I don't know!" she sighed, "I don't know if that was only an alibi or if that was true. I mean, that wouldn't come off my mouth if that wasn't true, right?"

"So, you're saying that you might and might not like someone else…" he then laughed, "You're funny, Luce."

"Natsu, stop kidding around!"

"It's your fault, it's too obvious and you can't even figure it out?!" He pat her on the back, "Luce, the way I see it, Gray likes you and as long as I'm concerned, I think you like him too. If you don't like him in the first place, you could've said no to his proposal, you won't lose anything anyways. If you don't like him, you wouldn't have did all those things and 'fought' for him during the festival, etcetera. And lastly, if you don't feel anything for him, you wouldn't come to me looking like that."

"Then, then what about what I feel for… for the other guy…?"

"I don't think you really like that guy. Perhaps you only liked him for what he did and not for who he really is. Perhaps you liked him because he did so many favors for you, or maybe you also think you like him because you've been spending so much time with Gray that you miss whoever that him is."

She stared at him for several seconds, and he did too. Their staring contest ended when Natsu felt something at the bait of the fishing pole.

He stood up and tried to pull as hard as he can, "Looks like this is a big one… Well, what are you still waiting for? Go now!"

She smiled and nodded, "I knew I could count on you, best friend!" she gave him a peck on the cheek before she left.

"Woah, Natsu! That looks like a big one!" a flying fellow came out from behind the tree.

"Happy?! You're still here? Didn't I tell you to leave?"

The he-cat leaned on him, "Did you seriously think I would leave you alone with Lucy? Of course I would listen to your conversation with her!"

He hurtfully chuckled and mumbled, "Silly Luce… thinking she actually likes me. When I truth, I'm the one who likes her ever since…", as he slowly stopped struggling and let the big fish go.

"Hey, why did you let that go?!"

He dropped the pole and placed his hands behind his head, "That's your punishment! I told you to leave earlier!"

"Well, if I left… there'd be no one to comfort you…"

"Comfort me?" he forcefully laughed, "You don't need to comfort me! I'm fine!"

"Aww, Natsu, don't be like that. I know the truth, there's no need to hide it from me. Why didn't you tell Lucy you were fishing those for your plan to eat with her? Why did you lie?"

"… There's no point in confusing her. She's already with whom she belongs to."

"Am I seeing tears in your eyes? Don't cry, Natsu…"

"I'm not crying!"

"You don't need to hide it from me…" Happy further teased.

"I said I'm not crying!" he shouted as he munched a few of the fish he caught.

"Hey, that's unfair! I should have my share too!"

To be continued…

A/N: Sorry for cutting it here! My next update to this story would already be the last chapter! Please look forward to it! So, how was it? I hope it's okay! I'm sorry too if you see mistakes! There's no more Juvia and no more Natsu, so Lucy and Gray are the only ones left! Or are they? What would be the best ending for this story? I wonder… Tehee~ please feel free to review! Thank you! \(◦'')/
