Chapter Fourteen:

Nicole smiled as she rested her head on Mitch's chest, her fingers tracing patterns on his stomach. She couldn't believe how easy it had been to get Ruby to sneak into Casey's room to sleep.

"What are you thinking about?" Mitch ran his fingertips through her hair.

Nicole snuggled into Mitch more as she smiled. "How lucky I am to have you."

Mitch grinned as he kissed Nicole's forehead. "I love you."

Nicole looked up at Mitch in shock. "What did you just say?" She asked.

"It's okay Nic if you don't say it back. I've just never felt this way about anyone before." Mitch told her.

"No, it's not that," Nicole said. "It's just that I'm surprised."

"Nic, you're beautiful, sweet, kind, caring, everything that I ever wanted." Mitch replied.

"You are so sweet," Nicole told him, her fingers entwining in his. "I love you too."

Mitch grinned again as he pulled Nicole into a kiss.

"You said what?" Brax asked Charlie, who was sitting on their bed, a book in her hands as she stared at Brax, tears threatening to spill from her eyes. "Why would you say that Charlie?"

"I don't know!" Charlie exclaimed. "Why am I such a bitch? She went so cold on me."

Brax exhaled. "Of course she went cold on you. You reminded her of a time I am sure she wants to forget"

Charlie nodded. "I am so sorry, Brax"

Brax saw the tears spilling down her cheeks; he quickly moved over and pulled her towards him. "I know, shh, don't cry"

Charlie hiccupped. "I can't help it. I don't want her to hate me"

Brax placed a kiss on her forehead as he wiped her tears away. "She won't. I promise"

Nicole sat upright holding the purple sheet tightly around her body, her eyes widening at the sight of Emily, the teenager looking at her with a grin. "Em. Em. Emily!" Nicole called her name.

Emily giggled. "Brax is gonna be pissed." Emily giggled as she turned around and went to leave.

"Emily. Don't. Please don't"

Emily turned around, a smirk on her face. "I won't tell, but it's gonna cost ya."

"What?" Nicole shot a helpless look to Mitch. "I'm not going to bribe you."

"What choice have you got?" Emily asked her. Nicole's eyes widened. "You don't want Mum and Dad to know, so…"

Nicole sighed. "Fine. What do you want?"

"Fifty bucks," Emily said, and then looked around Nicole's room. "Plus your iPad for the week."

"Em, I don't have fifty bucks." Nicole sighed.

Emily smirked. "No deal then" Em glanced at the door. "Daaaaad!"

"Emily!" Nicole hissed as she scrambled to find her pyjamas. "What the hell? Are you trying to get me killed, little sister? Mitch, get dressed…this is going to be bad"

Emily giggled. "Dad is gonna kiiiiiill you"

Brax shuffled out of his room. "What is all the yelling? I am with your mother so this better be important"

"Is tattling on my sister important? Cause' if not she could end up pregnant"

Brax looked at the teenager with a raised eyebrow. "Em, what are you talking about?"

Emily looked back into Nicole's room. "Mitch stayed over last night!"

"What?" Charlie asked as she walked out behind Brax. "I told her specifically there was no chance she could have him over."

"Obviously she didn't listen." Emily said.

Brax glared at Nicole stepped into view. "What do you think you're doing?"

Nicole gulped at the pure rage in his eyes. "Uh, nothing?" She spoke innocently.

"Nothing? You're doing nothing?" Brax swung the door all the way open and looked at Mitch who was pulling on his jeans. "I suggest you get the fuck out of my house. Now!" Brax boomed.

Charlie stared at her daughter. "Why would you do this? I specifically told you that he couldn't stay over"

Brax glared daggers at Mitch as he quickly scurried out of the room and past him. "I see you here again I will kick your ass"

"Uh, yes Mr Braxton"

"Where is Ruby?" Charlie asked looking past Nicole into the room. "Oh she didn't, did she?"

Nicole looked down at the ground, she didn't want to rat her sister out.

"Casey!" Brax boomed, opening Casey's bedroom door without warning. "What the fuck!"

Ruby quickly sat up, wrapping a sheet around herself.

"Oh shit." Casey groaned, putting a hand on his forehead.

"In the lounge. Now!" Brax yelled. "You too Nicole!"

"What the hell have I told you guys?" Brax asked the three teenagers, who were sitting on the couch, Brax standing in front of them.

"That I can't stay in Casey's room." Ruby said quietly.

"And why didn't you listen to your mother Nicole?" Brax asked. "You know how disrespectful that is? You had sex didn't you?"

"It's not really a topic I want to talk about."

Brax glared. "Not a topic you want to talk about? I don't care what you don't want to talk about!" Brax thundered. "Your mother has been sitting in our room crying all morning and instead of comforting her, I am instead dealing with the three of you who I am meant to trust!"

Casey looked up. "Brax…"

Brax looked over at him. "Shut up Case, you knew the rules"

Nicole shuffled. "I'm sorry; they did it for me so you really shouldn't be mad at them, Brax"

"What are you talking about?" Brax asked.

"I asked Ruby to sleep in Casey's room so I could spend the night with Mitch." Nicole admitted.

Brax looked at Ruby. "Is that true?"

Ruby squirmed in her seat. "Yeah."

"Emily wanted me to bribe her." Nicole told Brax.

"I'll deal with her later," Brax said. "Right now I'm dealing with you three."

"Will I ever see Mitch again?" Nicole asked.

Brax glared at her.

Nicole sunk bank in her seat as tears sprung to her eyes. "I love him."

"Uh oh." Casey muttered under his breath.

"You what?" Brax thundered.

"Brax, chill the fuck out!" Nicole exclaimed.

"Oh shit." Casey said.

"You disrespected me and your mother!" Brax said. "Charlie told you that he couldn't spend the night and you snuck him in and asked your sister to sleep with Casey! You got two other people in this house in trouble!"

"Did you nark on me?" Ruby asked.

Nicole shook her head. "They figured it out."

Brax banged his fist on the fire place causing them all to look at him. "Let's get this clear. Nicole, you're grounded until your mother and I decide otherwise. No phone. No computer. No going out. Am I understood?"

Nicole slouched in her chair. "Yeah"

Brax leaned forward. "What was that?"

"Yes Sir"

Brax looked her dead in the eye causing Nicole to squirm. "No Mitch. None. Not now and not until you can prove to me that you respect your mother and I"

"Brax!" Nicole exclaimed. "That's unfair"

"No! What is unfair is how you went about this" He turned to Ruby and Casey. "You're both grounded"

Casey chuckled. "You can't ground me"

Brax raised his eyebrow. "Really? I recall you live under my roof. If I can ground Tamara who is the same age as you then I can damn well ground you"

Casey leaned back in his chair at the angry look in Brax's eyes. "I don't think this is fair."

"Yeah?" Brax asked. "Get over it."
