Okay guys, so I'm back! You guys will find out about what's happened to Nina and learn about the Leader's life story. Or I could totally just be psyching you out right now. Or not. Idk :3 And btw, I have a TWITTER now so if anyone would like to follow me, then I will leave it on my profile IF… at least ten people ask. If ten people don't ask, I won't give it up. And don't just leave ten guest reviews. But anyway… on with the chapter!

I DO NOT OWN HOUSE OF ANUBIS OR ANY OF ITS CHARACTERS

NINA POV:

I tried to gauge her reaction once more, but it was blank. I didn't know if she would be happy or upset that I accepted. Maybe she wanted me to decline so that I wouldn't meet such a fate.

"Are you sure this is what you want? Once you accept this fate, you cannot turn back from it. You will be stuck with your destiny with no change."

"I don't believe in a destiny that can't be changed," I said automatically, before I could even begin to think of a more, proper, response.

She chuckled darkly. "I used to be like that. So optimistic. Full of youth and hope. Now, I just have one mindset: fight. I need to keep fighting, whether it be for the offense or defense, I keep fighting. I keep moving forward and never looking back because the alternative brings so much pain. I don't want you to experience what I have, Nina, but it truly is inevitable. Please, don't rush into this because you fear for the safety of those you love. I will respect your decision if you wish to leave."

I couldn't prevent the smile that made its way onto my face. "You spend all this time trying to get me to join, and now that you have me where you want me, you want to let me go?"

"I don't want you to get hurt. You remind me so much of myself. And I don't want you to face what I have."

"Um, no offense, but you're younger than me. I'm not trying to doubt your credibility or anything, but… yeah."

She laughed, tossing her head back. "Let me tell you something, Nina: don't judge a book by its cover. You think I'm fourteen, yeah? Maybe newly turned fifteen?"

Hesitantly, I nodded. She chuckled, clealy amused. "Nina, I'm one hundred twelve."

My eyes widened, and I shook my head. "I'm sorry. I think I misheard you. You're how old?!"

She laughed again. "The story behind my ancestry will explain."

"Then do tell!" I said hoarsely.

"My ancestor's name was Arete. Greek. It means beauty. As her name would suggest, she was a beautiful Greek maiden. One day, in her city, a neighboring island attacked. Her mother hid her away in a cave. They were both wounded and heavily bleeding. Her mother was a sorceress, and using the last ounces of her strength and magic, she used it to protect her only daughter. She healed her wounds and gave her very essence to protect her. Months later, once the battles were over, both cities were destroyed, both to the people living there and to history. There is no record of any of it. But anyway, she woke as soon as it was all over. She sees her mother, dead in front of her. She was the same as she had always been, except now there was an ugly, jagged scar that marred the once flawless skin of her arm.

"She sobbed for days, clutching the corpse of her mother. After she finally let herself stop, she took her mother's cloak and left the island using one of the boats that had been hidden away for emergency. After making it back to the mainland, she ran away into the wilderness. She practiced after her mother, perfecting earth magic, becoming one with nature. One day, she ran into some hunters who had captured a wolf. She used her magic to free him and he offered her his services. He became her guardian and she used magic to change him into a part-human, part-wolf being.

"One day, they got ambushed. In order to save his savior, he gave her some of his blood, and he took hers. In doing so, two races were created. Your race and mine. My race is exclusive to my bloodline. We cannot simply pass it on as simply as you."

I looked at her arm, staring at the jagged scar adorned on her forearm.

She followed my gaze and nodded. "It's sort of a birthmark. It's passed down in our family."

"So, your family created us. You made us how we are today and vice versa."

"Exactly. We need you just as badly as you need us."

"Why aren't you more like us?" I asked. "He exchanged blood with her, so wouldn't she have gotten that wolf side of him?"

She shook her head. "Not necessarily. He was in human form when they exchanged blood. She got the wolf instinct rather than the wolf. I have that as well."

"Really?" I asked, swinging my fist at her. The dagger I didn't even know she had blocked my fist and another made it's way to my throat.

I gulped. She smirked and put the daggers away. "Don't worry, Nina. I would never hurt you. Intentionally."

"Gee, that's a real confidence booster," I said sarcastically. "But Leader-"

"Faythe. Call me Faythe."

"Faythe, I think we should stop putting it off. We have to do this now before we both lose our will."

She sighed. "I was hoping you wouldn't catch on. Here, stand here next to pool of water."

I did, moving to stand next to it. Suddenly, I was falling forward. I slid into the water. It burned my skin. I opened my mouth to scream only to get water into my lungs. I tried to make my way up, but strong arms were holding me down.

As I slowly slipped into unconsciousness, I heard Faythe's voice above me: "Here lies Nina Martin. Newly born as a Lycan Laetus. All hail."

That's it. We now know what happened to Nina. And we know about the Leader. Sooooo, yeah. Not exactly my best work, but it's decent. Right? *utter silence* Nevermind.
