"Enjolras, Marius, you have visitors today." Cosette said as she entered their shared room.
Enjolras and Marius both asked in unison, "Who?"
"We, actually. There is something that we'd like to talk to you about." Courfeyrac said, entering the room as well, followed by Combeferre.
"Call me if you need anything." Cosette said, smiling before politely exiting the room. But unbeknownst to the four men, she was actually eavesdropping at the opposite side of the door.
"So Julien..." Courfeyrac started, making Enjolras snap up after approximately 7 seconds; you see, he still wasn't used to being called with his first name yet.
"Yes?" The chief asked.
"We have to tell you two something." Combeferre responded, making Marius arch an eyebrow in confusion, and Enjolras nod, signaling for them to go on.
"But before that..." Courfeyrac said "You, Enjolras, are lucky to have Cosette as a sister."
The three other revolutionaries laughed at the comment.
"Okay, so you were saying?" Marius asked Combeferre.
"Oh right." He said, running a hand through his hair. "You see, about an hour ago, Gavroche informed me and Courf that General Lamarque is ill, and it doesn't look like he's going to get well."
Enjolras and Marius' eyes grew wide in alarm.
"We must focus even harder to get the people of France on our hands; we must schedule more protests, and make more pamphlets." Enjolras said, making Marius, Combeferre and Courfeyrac nod in agreement.
"Even if I would have to die for France, I'd do it." Enjolras muttered, loud enough for the other men to hear, and even Cosette.
Cosette immediately rushed to her room to sort out her thoughts. Enjolras, her brother, was willing to die for France! It didn't come to a surprise to her, no. It was just that she had just found her older brother, and she definitely doesn't want him to die.
And then she realized that Marius is willing to die for France as well, and that worried her even more. And so for the remainder of the day until dinner, she kept herself occupied, so that she wouldn't think of the possibility of her brother and beloved dead, but even as hard as she tried, it still came to her mind occasionally.

It was 9:45 in the evening, and Marius and Enjolras were getting ready to rest, but stopped when they heard a knock at the door.
"Come in." Marius said, revealing Cosette enter the room in a simple white nightgown, her blond hair in a simple braid.
"Good evening, love, what brings you here?" Marius asked, making Enjolras turn to the young lady as well.
"It's just that, I wanted to talk to you both about something." She said while slowly shutting the door behind her, and sitting on Enjolras' bed.
"What about, 'Sette?" Enjolras inquired.
Cosette sighed before responding, "It's just that, you two are two of the most amazing people I've met in my life, and we've just found each other for only a short period of time. And when I learned about you saying that you were willing to die for France, I got a little scared. It's just that...if ever you have no choice than to rebel against the monarchy, I just wanted to say...please, just try to stay alive as much as possible, okay?"
Enjolras and Marius looked at each other uncomfortably, they weren't really sure if they could do that, but they both knew that Cosette had faith in them, and they would certainly try.
"We cannot be absolutely sure that we will go out of a rebellion alive, though. But if ever there is no other choice, then I promise you that we will try our best." Marius replied, kissing Cosette lightly on the cheek.
"Alright. Goodnight." She said, her tone back in her regular happy mood. She kissed them both on the cheek before leaving.
Enjolras sighed. "I honestly am scared that I am going to fail her wish." He said, making Marius nod in agreement.
"I as well. But if barricades will rise, then we'll just try our best, and there's nothing wrong with that." Marius replied, smiling as he went over to his bed.
"Night 'Jol." Marius said, using the Enjolras' nickname only used by him and Combeferre secretly.
"Night, M." Enjolras responded, and with that, they both drifted off into sleep.
