Chapter 14
"Who are the five? What are you talking about, Stacy?"
"Well if she's talking about the first time there was an attack; I'm guessing Bonnie, Elena, Judith, Mary and myself." Meredith spoke up as they all looked at me for a confirmation. I looked around dreamily and laid my head on one of the couch pillows, not saying a word. Aunt Judith sighed and looked to the police officer.
"She does this from time to time, I'm sorry. We don't know why so we just let her do this thing." Aunt Judith try to explain but her expression was helpless because we all know what the officer was thinking about me. Oh well.
"Did you report the first attack?" The officer asked, trying to regain composure after my weird words.
"We did but we never heard anything back." Aunt Judith crossed her arms defensively.
"This is the first time I'm hearing this. The only other attack we heard was about the old man under Wickery bridge and apparently tonight as well." Aunt Judith shrugged and went to feel my forehead like I had a fever. I batted her hands around, sticking my tongue out at the mother henning. I stopped once she gave me a stern look. Say what you want about me but you don't mess with Judith once she gets in one of her moods.
"Stacy, what did he look like? The one who attacked your friends?" She asked softly as she retracted her hand, seemingly happy with my none feverish forehead.
"Not a he. A she this time."
"Hmm?"
"You said he but it was a girl. She had on a white dress which was getting very dirty. It almost looked silver but that might've been the moon's fault. She had long hair and I couldn't see her face not even when she tried to grab me. Everything was blurry. I did manage to hit her her with my stick and I fell down. The stick seemed to go through her. It was really scary. She screamed once I hit her but she didn't continue to go after me. She ran off instead and all I could focus on was my friends. I tried to help while I waited for the others. My friends are too young to die. It was strange though. Their attacker was all light but my was just pure darkness. I wonder why." I trailed off before perking up and looking out the window. "When is Hellena coming home?"
"Hellena?" The officer spoke up, confused.
"She means Elena." Bonnie spoke up. "It's just a nickname Stacy came up with today."
"Well, we don't know when she is coming home. We don't even know where she is!" Aunt Judith's voice raised at the end on the sentence and she quickly glanced towards the clock that showed the time was getting later and later.
"She's with Stefan."
"And how do you know that?"
"He left the dance before we did. He went to save Elena from Tyler." I laughed a little and very unsteadily made my way to the window seat to look out.
"Is she drunk? How much alcohol has she drank tonight?" The officer demanded. Well she is completely judgmental. Not a good quality for an officer of the law. I couldn't help but giggle slightly and peered at the lady through the hair that covered my face as my head tilted.
"It's not what you think. She just donated a lot of blood to help her friends that were attacked." Matt said in my defense. Aww, he's such a good friend. I turned around and laid the back of my head against the coolness of the window.
"I'll do anything for my friends. Anything. I won't let them suffer for my faults." I said strongly.
"What do you mean by that?"
"By what?" I asked confused. When did I turn around? The last few seconds were a blur to me for some reason. Maybe I did donate too much blood. Oh well. I'll just take a long nap once Stefan and Elena come in and everything is settled.
"You just said you won't let your friends suffer for your faults." Meredith said slowly. I looked at her in confusion and opened my mouth to contradict her, when the door opened and in shuffled my twin and her boyfriend. The way Elena looked made it seemed she had finally got her way. Just like always.
"Stefan! Elena! I told you they were together. And they've been kissing!" I sang out, giggling.
"Stacy!" Elena said, slightly scandalized before looking around in confusion. "Wait, what's going on?" Aunt Judith rushed towards her and gave her a quick hug before pulling back and looking at her in relief.
"Oh thank god, you're safe. Where have you been? I've been worried sick especially when Stacey and the others came in and said they lost sight of you and then the attack and-" Aunt Judith trailed off and just gave her another quick hug. Elena looked around in bewilderment as I stood up from my seat and stretched.
"I've been at the boarding house with Stefan." She said slowly before coming to her senses and stepped back to grab Stefan's arm. "Aunt Judith, this is Stefan Salvatore; he rents a room there. He brought me back." Stefan smiled tightly, looking a bit out of his comfort zone. I smiled victoriously and looked at Elena's group.
"I told you so." I whispered loudly and they all gave each other these odd little looks.
"Is she okay?" Stefan asked. He even looked concerned about me. What a sweetheart! I covered my mouth so I could try and stop my giggles. Everything seems so funny to me right now.
"I'm just peachy." I let slip out before biting back my laughter again. Imagine if I turned into a peach! Or if there was a giant peach outside! I could totally live like James and the giant peach. That would be absolutely amazing!
"Thank you." Aunt Judith finally said to Stefan once everyone seemed to collectively agree to ignore me without anyone saying anything. Rude. "But your dress. Your hair! What happened?" I walked towards her and looked at her up and down.
"It was Tyler, wasn't it? He's not a nice boy." I asked, tilting my head at her. Elena and Stefan stared at me in confusion and my twin slowly nodded before looking past me to Aunt Judith and the police officer who stepped towards our little family grouping.
"You didn't know? Then Tyler didn't tell you. But why are the police here?"
"For one, both of you were way past curfew. Secondly, there was another attack. Vickie Bennett, Wisty Price, Winny and Justin Di'Angelo were all admitted to the hospital tonight." Aunt Judith said, looking like she was about to cry.
"But that's mostly Stacy's-" Stefan trailed off. I nodded enthusiastically.
"Yep! And I'm the one who found them too! Isn't that... isn't that... oh, I don't feel so good." I trailed off as I saw black spots appear at the edges of my vision. I felt my body start to fall as the black spots spread out. The last thing I remember seeing was a single crow outside the window, looking in.
