Chapter 14
Sacrifices' of the Innocent
Sesshomaru has a low growl in his chest as he neared the center of the village. He then took quick note of the situation: seven heavily armored and armed Ogre type demons, one severely injured miko Priestess on horseback, and Kagura in the center with a single Miasma.
'Impossible!' thought Sesshomaru. 'How is it Kagura lives?
Only when the rest of the group, minus Inuyasha and Kagome, stood behind Sesshomaru, did Kagura walk out a few steps toward them. The Ogres' pawed the ground just itching to tear into their opponents. But Kagura held out her arm to stop their movements.
"What manner of trickery is this Kagura?" snarled Sesshomaru. With his usual calm demeanor gone, Sango and Miroku clearly saw just how similar the half brothers really are.
"Where are Inuyasha and Kagome?"
"Release the Priestess at once!" It was a growled demand. "I, Sesshomaru, will not ask again." And with that, Sesshomaru went into a semi-crouch similar to Inuyasha's as his electric wipe came out. Miroku and Sango followed into their own battle stance. The Ogre holding the reins to Kaede's horse let go. Slowly it padded its way over toward Sango but stopped in the middle of the two groups.
"As you wish."
About twenty minuets after arriving into her own time, Kagome had her pack back over stuffed yet again.
"I wish mama was here to tell her she'll be a grandma soon. She's going to be so happy. Sota's going to be disappointed he missed out on seeing you, you know. I'm going to leave her a small note letting her know we were here and that everything is ok."
"Feh, that's just going to make her want to play with my ears all the more. You know I only like it when you play with them." Inuyasha grumbled.
With her back to him, he didn't see the slow smile on her lips. Setting down the note for her mama, Kagome slowly turned around to face her mate. Taking a couple of steps toward him, she leaned over slightly and began to rub both his ears. When his chest began to rumble with his purr, Kagome slowly slid her right hand down to un-tie his clothing. Smelling the excitement growing in Kagome, Inuyasha groaned as he gently pulled her small hands away from his ears.
"If we weren't in such a dam hurry, I'd take you right here and now koi. Are you ready to go home?" Inuyasha whispered huskily in her ear. Holding her in his arms, he slowly grounded his aching manhood against her belly that contained the life of their pup. He would have to wait until a better time. He so enjoyed making slow love to his mate.
"Unfortunately yes. I have everything we will need for the time being. But do we have to go back so soon? Couldn't we take a little time for ourselves? I'm scared."
With infinite slowness, Inuyasha bent his head to Kagome's soft lips as he replaced her hands to his ears. Completely lost in the gentle yet fire filled kiss and caressing those so soft ears, Kagome didn't feel him unclasped her bra to cup her breasts. Nudging her toward the bed, Inuyasha had her sit on the edge of it. Still in a slight daze from the kiss, Kagome just stared at Inuyasha as he slowly undressed himself in front of her. After a second, Kagome shook off the daze and looked at her mate as if for the first time.
He was magnificently handsome; a perfectly chiseled chest. Not too broad shoulders, a muscularly back ending in a nice tight ass with thighs as hard as rocks. But the one thing that fascinated her the most was how his manhood felt as though it's wrapped in velvet over steel.
Taking a step toward Kagome, Inuyasha tipped her chin up to look at him.
"Touch me." He whispered huskily.
How could she not touch him! Curling her small fingers around his thickness, she began a slow stroke up and down. Putting his clawed hands on her head, he began to thrust his hips into her hand. Then using her left hand she gently cupped his balls as she slowly slipped the head of his now throbbing manhood into her mouth. With her right hand now free, Kagome slid it around to grip his tight ass.
It was almost too much of a strain to keep from cumin inside her hot and moist mouth. Groaning out loud as he pulled himself out of her mouth, Inuyasha took hold of her shirt and slowly pulled it off.
"Do you have any idea how much you make my blood boil koi? How much you make me want to take you over and over again?" Giving Kagome a slight nudge, he had her lay down on the bed.
Placing his hands on either side of her head, Inuyasha lowered his head and began raining small kisses on her neck and slowly down the valley between her round firm breasts. Kagome cradled his head as he suckled on of her dark peaks. Only when Inuyasha lavished attention to each of her breasts, did he start placing kisses down her stomach to where there was a very slight bulge that contained a new life. Closing her eyes as he slowly took off her pants and panties, she opened her legs to him.
But instead of feeling his hot and moist mouth or the head of his thick penis, Kagome opened her eyes to him placing one soft triangle ear over the bulge in her belly. Inuyasha clearly heard the tiny heartbeat within.
The fiery passion that only his mate could evoke in him was gone in an instant. Closing his golden eyes, Inuyasha savored the cozy feeling he was experiencing. 'Who would their pup look like? Will it be male or female?' Inuyasha wondered. Instinctively he knew it was too early to know the sex of the pup, but already he knew he wanted a daughter. A daughter that would mirror her mother and inherit his fighting spirit.
"What are you thinking about?" Kagome whispered as she reached Inuyashas other ear to gently rub it. There really was no need to ask what he was thinking, for she was already wondering about the same questions.
Placing a soft kiss to her belly, Inuyasha opted to lie down on the bed and snuggle closely to his heart the two most important beings in his life. With a soft purr rumbling his chest, Kagome drifted into a peaceful sleep wrapped in her mates strong arms. He too, then drifted off.
It was about forty minuets later that Inuyasha's ears twitched toward the approaching sounds of Kagome's mother's car. Nuzzling into her neck he whispered into her ear.
"Koi, time to get up. Your mother's home along with your brother and Grandfather. We have time enough to tell her and then we need to get going." Softly sighing Kagome lazily stretched herself out.
"Yeah, your right of course. And of you'll excuse the pun, a cat nap is just what I needed."
With in minuets, the pair had dressed and was entering the kitchen just a Mrs. Higurashie brought in the last of the groceries. She was smiling as she turned to face her daughter. Without a word the two women hugged as Sota walked in.
"Hiya Inuyasha-nii-chan! Can we go for a run? PRETTY PLEASE!?" begged Sota with his hands together and his best sad-n-soulful eye look. Inuyasha was about to say he didn't have any time to, but Kagome spoke first.
"It's ok Inuyasha. I can talk with mama while your gone. But no more than ten minuets I should think, being that we really do need to get going. And Sota has his homework to do."
"Only if I get double ramen tonight." Inuyasha said with a smirk. He really didn't have the heart to say no to the lad who literally worshiped the ground he walked on. Like sister, like brother, he thought. Never in his life since his mother's death, could he have thought to ever experience such love. A family's love. And Kagome just stood there with her bright smile shining on him knowing Inuyasha would never realize the full extent of how tight she and her little brother have him wrapped around their little finger.
"HURRAY!!" Exclaimed one very excited little boy.
"Oh, this is good timing dear. I went shopping last week and have a couple bags of your usual supplies. You know; body wash, shampoo, tampons, color books for your son ext…ohh and a 2 boxes of ramen for Inuyasha." Mrs. Higurashie turned to head toward the stairs and her room where the bags were.
"Umm… thanks mama. Although there's one supply I won't be needing for sometime, why don't we sit down in the living room and talk?" As Kagome turned to leave out of the kitchen, she kissed Inuyasha's cheek, told him to have a safe run and ruffled her little brother's hair. Sota was all smiles as he took his hero's hand and led him out t the back of the shrine for their run.
After making sure Sota was as secure as possible on his back, Inuyasha leaped up to land atop the Higurashie's home roof. Once deciding on their direction, the hanyou clad in red started off. Sota squealed in delight as his hero leaped from rooftop to rooftop and through a few trees in between. And before the exhilarated little boy knew it, he noticed they were heading back in the direction of the shrine grounds.
Jumping down from the roof of the house, Inuyasha stood at the back door and eased Sota off his back. The said little boy was grinning from ear to ear as they walked back through the kitchen area and toward the living room. Sota stopped so suddenly at the doorway to the other room that Inuyasha nearly knocked him over. Turning around, Sota clutched the dog-demon clawed hand.
"Inu-nii-chan, when you and my sister come back next time, can we go for a run again? Maybe a little longer one?"
"Only if you stay on top of your homework young man. Your math grades could use a little more improving." Mrs. Higurashie said as both women stood up for the couch.
"I promise to work hard on my math!" And with that said, Sota was off running up the stairs to start his homework.
With tears shining in her eyes, Mrs. Higurashie embraced her now very grown up daughter. Turning to her new son-in-law, she also hugged him. Taking step back she had to hide her hands behind her back to keep from rubbing those ohh-so-adorable ears. With a small sigh and a rueful smile, Inuyasha sat down on the couch and braced himself for what was to come. Kagome smiled a beautiful smile at her mate as she slightly leaned forward.
"Have I told you how much I love you?" She whispered. Striating back up, she now looked at her mama. "Mama, you know how sensitive his ears are so please be-" Mrs. Higurashie squealed like a schoolgirl as she made her way toward the triangular appendages, arms stretched out.
"Mama," Kagome patiently said in the same tone she uses on Shippou. "You don't need to sit in his lap either." Mrs. Higurashie stopped in mid-step as she lowered her arms.
"Arigato Inuyasha for allowing me the honor." With a smile as bright as her daughters, she walked up to him and gently rubbed his right ear. Knowing how mortified her mate would be if his purring kicked in, Kagome cleared her throat. It was time to go.
As soon as Kagura lowered her arm, the Ogre that had had a hold of Kaedes horse reins, walked away from his comrades and stopped about two feet behind the horse and the old Miko. Kaede already sensed what was going to happen. It just saddend her that she wouldn't be able to see her one and only miko-in-training bloom into the next Shikon no Toma guardian. Kaede was not yet born when Kikyo's training was completed.
Sitting up as best she could in her saddle despite the slashes, bruises and the stab wound in her abdomen, Kaede attempted to speak in a clear tone.
After a short goodbye, Kagome and Innyasha made it back to the Feudal Ear. But before Inuyasha could leap to the rim of the Well and help his mate out, a very loud and dangerous growl was coming from his chest. She was about to ask him what was wrong when he knelt down indicating to her to get onto his back. Putting the over-packed bag and other bags down, she climbed on. She barely had her arms around his neck when Inuyasha jumped out of the Well to stand next it. Tugging his left ear, Kagome was about to ask him again as he sniffed the air.
"Blood," He grimly stated. "Lots of blood… and fear!" Inuyasha immediately leapt into the trees, keeping down wind. As they came up to where the center of the village was he stopped when they heard Kaede speak.
"Shh…" Inuyasha whispered as Kagome gasped at the scene below them.
"It matters not what happens to me," the wounded Miko stated to the Wind Demon as she looked in the direction where Inuyasha and Kagome sat hiding in the trees. "Only that now that the Shikon no Toma is once again complete, Kagome's powers will very soon become mature, and that vile creature Naraku be destroyed from our world once and for all. Ye must leave here now! It is a trap-"
At that moment, the Ogre that had been standing behind Kaede, removed the sword that was strapped to its back and cleaved both the old miko and the horse in half. The collective gasps from the small group as well as Inuyasha's and Kagome's, echoed through out the now deserted village. Kagura hopped on to her feather and followed the single Misma back to its Master.
'Dam you Naraku! It wasn't necessary to kill the old woman! You could have still attempted your way with them, but then, you didn't figure Sesshomaru into your little grand scheme of things did you! Enduring you wrath towards me will be well worth it when I can finally witness your destruction.' Kagura thought to herself.
"Inuyasha, get you Pack out here now! You know where to go. This Sesshomaru will dispatch these pests quickly and then find you on your way." But before anyone was able to make a move, the Ogre that had killed Kaede tossed out a wooden stick a few feet in front of it.
"GET BACK!" Hollered Sesshomaru. But even with his speed, Sesshomaru couldn't move fast enough from the tentacle that slammed into him and drove him through several trees. Miroku and Sango were already on Kiria and out of dander as the puppet form of Naruku appeared.
"DAM YOU NARAKU! YOU BASTERED!!" Snarled Inuyash as he jumped out of the trees drawing the Tetsusaiga out. Taking a swipe at a nearby tentacle, Inuyasha as well as the others failed to notice that one of the Ogre's could no longer seen. But then how could one see with so many tentacles flying through the air at you.
"HIRAIKOTSU!" Sango yelled as she let loose her weapon. The bone boomerang flew in a wide ark taking out several tentacle limbs, at the same time Sesshomaru's true Dog-demon form loomed up from where the first tentacle left him. Then Kagome's terror scream froze everyone on the spot.
"INUYASHA! HELP!" Sesshomaru was growling and barking at Inuyasha. Miroku and Sango were already heading toward Kagome's scream, but were too late. As they approached the tree she was at, an Ogre had their friend in its clutches.
"KAGOME!" Screamed Inuyasha. Nodding to Sesshomaru his understanding, he turned around toward his mate's cries. But just as the younger brother got to the Ogre that held Kagome, it flung her into the air where Naraku's puppet tentacle wrapped around her.
"NO!!" Was yelled at the same time from everyone. Yanking the Shikon no Toma from Kagome's chain around her neck, the tentacle flung her away like a rag doll. And for the second time in Inuyasha's life, he watched the flying form of Kagome soar overhead and out of view.
"BASTEREDS!! WINDSCAR!!" By the time the dust had finally settled from the Tetsusaiga's attack on the remaining Ogres, Sesshomaru had already made short work of Naraku's puppet. As the giant Dog-Demon lord and the others looked on, Inuyasha went after Kagome. Kiria landed in the center of what was left of Kaede's village. Transforming back into his humanoid form, Sesshomaru started toward the direction his younger brother went, but then stopped. He realized he needed to relay what he had already told Inuyasha.
"We must regroup and make all haste back to the Western Lands. Naraku will now be hard pressed on our heels. Priest…I mean, Miroku, gather the Shikon no Toma and let us leave this place." He then moved on in Inuyasha direction. Just by scenting the air, Sesshomaru knew this was not going to be good.
Taking one last sad look around the village they had spent so much time in, Miroku, Sango and Shippou, climbed back onto Kiria and followed the Demon lord to where Kagome was. Once they got there, all three of them released the breath they didn't know they were holding as they all saw Kagome leaning against a tree. No worse for wear.
"Hurry back Inuyasha." Kagome shakily called out as she watched him run off.
"KAGOME!" Cried out Shippou and Sango together as they both embraced her. She didn't register anything around her as she placed her small hand to her belly. Sango stood back up as Miroku approached the more-pale-then-usual miko. Shippou hopped onto Miroku's shoulder, sniffing the air around him.
"Thank Kami we found you Lady Kagome. I see at least this time you are not as injured as you were before." Miroku said as he knelt in front of the young woman. But when she looked into his violet eyes, the tears Kagome was desperately trying to keep from falling, finally fell.
"Hey Miroku! Why do I smell Kagome's blood but don't see her bleeding?" the small fox-child asked.
"Kagome's injury is not so much of the physical type young pup, but that of the emotional type." Sesshomaru quietly said as he lowered his head.
"I still don't get it. Why do I smell a lot of it Sesshomaru?" Miroku then stood back up, as he to, pondered the innocent question. Looking to the elder brother of their hanyou friend, the demon child and Monk didn't have to wait long for their answer.
"She has miscarried her unborn pup."
