Seven Heroines
Chapter Thirteen: Shootout with an Immortal
Panic continued to erupt in the streets in Alfnia. Every citizen was running from Rias' forces. Some didn't make it out as they were captured by their strange beams of light. Everywhere, women and their children fled where they would be safe from harm. Two elf women were in the same situation. One held the other's hand while running. One of them tripped over and landed her knee. The other one stopped and looked back to see her friend on the street.
"Come on Elra, get up. We have to keep moving."
Elra tried to stand but a sharp pain shot up and she went to the ground. "I-I can't move. My ankle is hurt."
The other elf woman reached her hand out to help her friend but she saw a knight of Rias behind her friend. "Elra!"
Elra turned her head back to see the same knight. Her eyes widened with fear. "No. I still haven't told her yet. I don't want to be taken away from her." She closed her eyes to expect the worst.
A shot rang out throughout the air. Elra opened her eyes and looked up to the black knight. The knight had a look of pain on her face and fell to the ground. Both elf women saw the person behind the attacker. She had duel guns, short white hair and red eyes. "Go, now." She ordered.
The other elf woman picked up her friend bridal style. "Thank you." They left the person who save her friend.
Jo gave a small smile knowing that she prevented another innocent from being taken from someone she loved. The scene reminded her of so many memories from her past. She sensed more of Rias' knights behind her. Jo turned around with guns pointed at them. Her mission right now was to save to save the people of this kingdom. "Come on. I'll send you all to hell where you belong." The gunslinger rushed toward the sentry of knights. Rias' forces drew their swords and charged to Jo.
Jo dodged all of their sword attacks and went into the middle of the sentry. She began to fire from her desert eagles. Each shot was powerful enough to knock back a knight a few feet. She fired all around her and made sure each shot made contact with their target. One of the black knights came around behind the gunslinger and shot out the same beam to capture the women of Alfnia. The beam made contact with chosen heroine but unlike with the citizens of the kingdom, the light broke and Jo remained where she was.
She looked over herself to see if there was any change. Once she was sure, she smiled. "I guess those weird lights of yours doesn't work on me." Jo jumped up into the air. She readied her guns and aimed at Rias' forces below her. The gunslinger unleashed a barrage of bullets. One by one, the knights fell. Jo landed on her feet. Jo looked around to see her handiwork and she was quite pleased. "I have to give credit to mummy girl, this energy bullet thing it useful. I haven't to reload once since all of this started to happen."
She saw another small squad of black knights coming toward her. Jo smiled. "Well as long as they're around, I won't be bored." She readied her guns at the new squad. Suddenly the squad was cut in half in an instant. Blood sprayed everywhere and the bodies fell to the ground. Jo has seen a lot but this was a first to her. She then saw a new figure walking toward her. This new person wore a weird outfit with a skirt and it showed a lot of cleavage. Her hair was blonde in pigtails with a large red beret on top of her head.
"Useless fools, all of you. How many does it take to bring one bitch down?!" A shot passed by her head. She turned to Jo and gave out a wicked smile. "It's no small feat to defeat such a large squadron. You're either one of those pesky Rising Knights or you're one of those chosen heroines I heard so much about."
"You're not off but what you did to your own forces was low, even for bad guy's standpoint."
The blonde laughed a bit. "They're nothing more than expendable. More can always replace them." Another bullet passed by her head. "Oh did I hit a nerve? Now what did I say to piss you off? Maybe something that happened in your-" A bullet shot through her heart and fell down to the ground.
Jo put her gun back into its holster. "Not everything is expendable." She turned around and started to walk away.
"Didn't anyone tell you not to shoot when someone is speaking?"
Jo stopped and turned around to see the same girl up on her feet. "What the hell? I'm sure I shot her in the heart."
"Now then, where were we-" another bullet went inside her chest and she dropped to the ground again. This time Jo went up the corpse to make sure her opponent as dead. The shot was dead on so there was no chance she would come back up. She sighed and started to leave the body. "You're beginning to piss me off now."
Jo looked back to see her opponent starting to stand up. "How is she standing up? Don't tell me she's…" A realization hit the white haired girl. "Are you a zombie?"
Her opponent almost fell to the side. She regained her balance. "No I'm not a zombie. What the hell is a zombie anywa-" A bullet this time passed through her head. She fell to the ground a third time.
"There, problem solved." Jo twirled her gun.
Her opponent lay down on the ground for a few seconds. "I've had enough of this." The down blonde quickly stood up with a sword in her hand. She rushed to Jo with a glimpse of murder in her eye. Jo quickly responded and blocked the sword with her two guns. "It takes a few to piss me off and you just did!"
Jo was amazed by how strong her opponent was. She pushed her back and unloaded a barrage of shots into her foe's chest. She stepped back but didn't fall. The blonde just simply smiled and looked at the gunslinger with a crazed look in her eye. "Just what the hell are you then?"
Her opponent cackled. "My name is Kyoko. One of Lady Rias' Devils of Darkness and I cannot be killed by any means. You can shoot me all you want but I'll never die. I am an immortal!"
If Jo ever met this girl back where she came from, then she would think that this chick was out of her mind but after seeing Kyoko rise up after two shots from the heart and one from the head, the gunslinger had no choice but to believe what her opponent said about herself. Now the only question remained from was how to defeat someone that you can't kill. "Hold up. I can't kill this chick?"
Kyoko smiled at the chosen heroine. She figured her opponent knew that she had no chance of defeating her now. Then she saw Jo smile. "Why the hell is she smiling about?" She gave a scowl. "What are you happy about? The usual reaction I get when I tell people I can't be killed is that they get some hint that they can't win. So why are you smiling?"
Jo continued to smile and pointed her guns at Kyoko. "I'm smiling because I can shoot you as much as I want. I don't give a crap if you're immortal, just knowing that you can't die means I can have fun shooting you and fill you with a bunch of holes."
Kyoko didn't expect her foe to say that. Some reactions she received from the opponents she faces was a look of terror knowing that they can't win but with Jo, she didn't care as long she had someone to shoot at. The blonde immortal summoned another sword to her other hand. "We'll see how cocky you are when I chop you up into little bits!" She raised one of her swords up and small whirlwind surrounded the blade. Kyoko swung her sword forward and the whirlwind left the blade. It was headed straight for Jo.
The gunslinger smiled and charged toward the attack. She jumped headfirst into the whirlwind with her arms covering herself. The white haired girl came out the attack with multiple cuts on her arms. Kyoko thought this girl was insane that she jumped into her attack without a second thought. She had enough of her and ran toward Jo with her twin sword ready to cut her down. She swung down one of her swords to slash Jo but the gunslinger looked up and dodged to the side. She spun around and fired a couple of rounds at the immortal. Kyoko retaliated swinging her other sword at the heroine but Jo jumped back and she shot Kyoko a few more times. The blonde roared in pain. Being an immortal doesn't mean she's immune to pain. A white glow appeared on her white arm. She gave a creepy smile and the white glow began to turn into a ball at the end of her. Kyoko sent her sword down the white orb was sent straight at Jo.
The gunslinger barrel rolled to the side to avoid the strange attack. The orb missed its target and it hit a house that was behind the white haired girl. A large explosion erupted and debris was scattered everywhere. "Glad that wasn't me." Jo turned around to face her opponent but when she did, she was shocked that the skin was ripped off from her opponents arm. Jo could clearly see the bloody muscles. Kyoko continued to smile and the skin instantly regenerated. "What kind of freak am I fighting here? First immortality then regeneration, what else does she have?
The same white glow now surrounded both of Kyoko's swords. She slashed the air and this time a light blade was heading towards Jo. The attack came in fast but the gunslinger managed to avoid it but a second light orb attack the first attack. "Shit!" The second attack made contact and another explosion occurred.
Kyoko didn't show it but she was feeling fatigued. She closed her eyes and winced at the pain of her regeneration. Both of her arms were restored but she was now panting. "I have to finish this quickly now. I can't afford to lose any more lives." The blonde tighten her grip on her swords and rushed into the smoke where Jo was hit. She crossed slashed in the center but it felt like she didn't hit anything. The smoke cleared and there wasn't any sign of the chosen heroine. Kyoko looked back and forth to see where her foe went. "Where the hell is she? I know that attack wasn't enough to completely destroy her. Where is she?"
A shot rang out and Kyoko felt pain shoot up from her right shoulder. She quickly grabbed her shoulder but another bullet hit her in the left thigh. She kneeled on the ground with her good leg and started to look up where the bullets were coming from. "Where? Where are they coming from?" Kyoko didn't have to think anymore as a hailstorm of bullets came out of nowhere and shot the blonde multiple times over. Kyoko fell to the ground as she was covered with bullet holes.
Jo came down from above and observed her work. She didn't escaped her opponents last attack unscathed. The damage could be seen everywhere on her body. "I know you're not dead. Get up now!" Just as Jo said, the bullet holes closed up and Kyoko slowly stood up. Though her wounds were now healed, the blonde was breathing heavily now as she tightly held her swords. Kyoko took a good look in Jo's eyes. They were a slightly different shape and there were strange markings on the gunslinger's left arm.
She scowled at her opponent. "This isn't over between us." She sent one more violent whirlwind at the white haired girl. Jo avoided the attack but as soon she pointed her guns at her opponent, the immortal girl was already gone.
The markings on Jo's arms disappeared and she sighed. "Coward." She looked around for a bit until she left the area to fight more of Rias' army.
Meanwhile, Kyoko was running throughout the kingdom. "Damn it! I can't believe she got me down to my last two lives. I can't risk dying again. What's more, those eyes of hers, what the hell? They looked like the eyes of monster killer." She stopped in her tracks. "Eyes of a killer huh? Maybe Lady Rias can put that rage to good use for us, that is if she doesn't kill me first like time."
