SANTANA P.O.V.

The room was eerily silent. It didn't even seem like anyone was breathing.

Rachel touched my shoulder, "I don't know, Santana. I don't know if I'm ready to just jump back into this. Don't get me wrong, I want to. But I'm just not sure."

I breathed heavily, "I'll let you think about it. You can have all the time you want."

I could feel my heart break. I wasn't expecting to get rejected in front of the entire class. I guess Brittany was right. I didn't really understand how bad I hurt Rachel. I didn't care to figure out how bad I hurt her.

Rachel looked down, "Yeah, I need time."

I smiled slightly and went to my seat.

Brittany touched my arm and whispered, "You did the right thing. She knows how you feel, now it's time for her to come to you."

I nodded, but it still hurt. I wanted her to run back into my arms, but I was being oblivious to reality.

RACHEL P.O.V.

I watched the ground, "Yeah, I need time."

I could see the hurt in Santana's eyes, but I didn't let it get to me. If anything, I need to decide how I feel on my own. I can't just get back with her because I feel bad.

Mr. Schue clears his throat, "Well, that was a lovely song, Santana. Now, we need to discuss sectionals. I know a lot of you wanted to do something more modern. I was thinking instead of me coming up here and telling you what our theme is going to be, why don't you guys decide?"

Kurt almost shoots out of his chair, "Let's do love music. Every audience likes a good heart wrenching performance."

Santana snorts, "Or you only like a good heart wrenching performance, princess."

Kurt does a fake laugh, "Laugh it up, Santana. We all just saw that you are a romantic at heart."

Mr. Shue raises his hand, "So, we have one for love music, anything else?"

I raise my hand, "Like you said, more modern music is a great idea. It'll keep us in touch with a younger crowd."

"Agreed", Brittany said while nodding her head.

"It's a great idea", Santana said softly.

I couldn't help but want to turn around and look at her, but I knew I shouldn't. She really seems like she's remorseful for what she did, and I really do miss her. The worst part is, I wanted to tell Santana I love her, also. I might have pushed her too hard.

Mr. Schue begins to write on the board, "Okay, we are going with modern music. Now, I'm not up to speed with all the music the young folks listen to now days. So, I want every one of you to write down three of your favorite modern songs. I'd rather you work in groups and prepare at least one of the songs to perform in front of the class."

The shuffling of chairs erupted fast. Everyone is getting with the person they work with every time we have "group work". I usually work with Finn, because almost always we are put together for duets during sectionals. I guess we have great on stage chemistry, or at least that's what people tell us.

I felt a hand on my back, "Do you want to work together?"

Brittany whispers to me, "This is the perfect opportunity to work with Rachel. Maybe this will push her in the right direction."

I smile at Brittany. She's right. This is the best opportunity to get Rachel on my good side.

I put my hand on Rachel's back, "Do you want to work together?"

She turns around and smiles slightly, "Why not?"

I smile back, "When do you want to meet?"

Rachel ponders this for a second, "We can work together today after school, and my house is fine."

I nod, "Sounds good, I'll see you later."

I grab my things and leave the room before she can change her mind. I haven't felt this happy in a long time, and I'll take things slow. I'll do exactly what Brittany said, let her come to me.

RACHEL P.O.V.

I don't know what made me say yes to working with Santana. It feels like it has been months since she last came over, but I was weirdly excited.

I put out a pitcher of water, and the doorbell rang. I knew who it was, but I couldn't help the butterflies in my stomach. They felt like they wanted to explode out of my stomach. I answered the door to see a beautiful Santana standing on my door step.

I smiled, "Hey."

She smiled back, "Hey, let's get started."

We went up the stairs to my bedroom, and I shut the door behind me. I felt like a stranger in my room, and I couldn't tell you why.

Santana cleared her throat, "So, what songs were you considering?"

I laughed, "I'm not sure. The modern music was a spur of the moment idea. I didn't actually brain storm any good songs."

She nodded and pulled out her phone, "I put down some ideas here in my notes. I don't know if you've heard of any of them."

I grabbed her phone, and I began to scroll through the names.

Santana looked at her phone, "I was thinking of an arrangement that I thought would be cool, and I thought it'd be cool to start with something upbeat. We could try to catch the attention of the entire crowd. I was thinking Because We Can by Bon Jovi. It isn't exactly my type of music, but I like it."

I nodded, "Yeah, I like that idea. How about Unconditionally by Katy Perry after that? I mean, it'll be interesting to see something upbeat to slow."

She looks, "Uh huh, I like that. We could end with a bang with Centuries by Fall Out Boy."

I smile, "I like it. Not only are we doing modern music, we are doing a few different types of music, instead of just all pop."

Santana smiles back, "So, which one would you like to sing together?"

I bit my lip, "Well, let's do Unconditionally."

I knew deep in my mind that singing that song was a bad idea, but I couldn't help myself.

Santana started the song, and we began to practice.

It was my turn to sing, "Come just as you are to me. Don't need apologies, know that you are worthy. I'll take your bad days with your good. Walk through the storm, I would. I do it all because I love you. I love you."

Without even meaning to, I leaned in and kissed Santana.
