Chapter 14
Recap
"Gwaenchana, gwaenchana.(it's ok) There no need for you to pretend." She said lightly slapping him on the arm.
Choi Young Do was confused as to what the ajumma was referring to but he just gave a slight smile while nodding before walking away.

Choi Young Do sat in his usual seat in front of the convenient store when suddenly someone covered his eyes with their hands. He placed his hands over the icy fingers that lay over his eyelids.
"Ya, why are your hands so cold?" Choi Young Do asked, the worry in his voice surprising him
"I'm not sure but… I think it might be the weather." The girl answered sarcastically as she let go of his eyes and walked around to stand in front of him.
Choi Young Do raised an eyebrow with a smirk on his face, "So that's the reply I get for caring?"
"Aye… chodeunga!(elementary kid) Come on, I feel like eating noodles." The girl said as she grabbed his arm, pulling him into the convenience store that he was currently sitting in front of.
"This one tastes good."
"Ani,(no) I like this one."
"Ya trust me. This one."
"Ya trust me." she said mimicking him, "I'm buying so I pick."
"Well what if I buy it then?"
"Well then I won't be eating anything."
The two glared at each other for a few seconds before Young Do felt himself give in. He wasn't sure if the person he was right now was actually him because he would have never given in like that. He wanted to keep arguing until he got his way but it seemed he had no control over his dream as they were already heading to the counter.
"You two look good together." The lady at the counter said smiling as she scanned the food,
"Did you hear that? I look good with the devil." The girl said shoving him lightly
It felt weird but at the same time a pleasant feeling settled within Choi Young Do as he watched the girl laughing while paying for the food before once again grabbing his arm and dragging him to the seat that he had previously occupied.
"I still don't understand how you've grown so tall even though you basically eat junk food. It just doesn't make sense."
"Well….. firstly… because I'm Choi Young Do….. secondly because I'm Choi Young Do 'the devil' as you liked to put it and thirdly because I am the one and only….. Choi Young Do." At the last Choi Young Do he raised his arms in the air as he looked around pretending there were people all around him.
Choi Young Do felt himself smiling as she smacked him from across the table while he just laughed.

Young Do sat down in his usual spot with his packet of steaming ramen as he ate and watched the sun continue to rise. He felt that the dream he had awoken to had been a sign that today was going to be a good day. Although there was something that kept nagging at the back of his mind which was that despite feeling familiarity in the dream he could not recognise the girl.
Choi Young Do continued to eat as he looked out the window when he saw Cha Eun Sang, solma?(maybe?) was it just a coincidence that Cha Eun Sang was here? He couldn't believe his eyes, he stared at her as she walked towards the aisles before he followed and quietly stood behind her as she glanced in the direction that he had just been. He watched as she picked out something and suddenly remembering the dream he took it out of her hand and placed something else.
"This is better." He said as Cha Eun Sang looked at him with wide eyes,
"Trust me. I've tried everything here." He said
He had expected her to argue just like in the dream but surprisingly she didn't argue and just went to the counter paying for it, Choi Young Do quickly went back to his ramen and started gulping it in order to finish before Cha Eun Sang left. He finished his bowl in record time before hurriedly walking towards Cha Eun Sang's disappearing figure.
The ajumma at the counter watched as he hurried after Cha Eun Sang, "what's with the guys these days? One girl isn't good enough? They need to have more?" she clicked her tongue in disappointment as she watched him.
"What's wrong with him? The girl from yesterday suits him more anyways."

"Joshimhae Joshimhae" (take care/ be safe) Su Jin continued to repeat this to herself as she fell into a mantra,
There was no way she was going to get near Choi Young Do any time soon, she just wouldn't be able to deal with it. He was doing weird things to her and it seemed that he wasn't the only one changing. She had a feeling that she knew what was going on inside her but there was no freaking way she was going to admit it.
She took all the crowded corridors to her destination and in class she didn't even look at him once which wasn't too hard since she sat in front of him and thankfully he didn't approach her either. Despite trying so hard, everywhere she had looked he had been there and she was going crazy. That was why as soon as school was over Su Jin was out the front gates and on her way to release her frustrations.
Su Jin had worked twice since she had got that job at the taekwondo centre and she had called up the manager during the day and asked if it was ok for her to come and work to which he had agreed without any hesitation.

Su Jin sat down on one of the benches along the wall, her feet aching slightly from standing on them for 3 hours as she taught the little kids. She had originally planned to physically release her frustrations by hitting something but seeing the little children's faces had a relatively positive and calming effect on her. So despite still being slightly agitated she felt better than before. Su Jin walked into one of the practice rooms when she noticed a familiar head.
You have GOT TO BE kidding me
There stood Choi Young Do in taekwondo attire as he sparred with what she assumed to be his teacher since she couldn't see his face. Su Jin stood there while she observed from the sidelines as he was continuously tripped. Despite him losing every time, Su Jin felt a sense of admiration at his ability to continuously get back up and along with that her frustrations grew as well. Why did he have to be here? Why was she still watching him? Why was it HIM? Questions like this kept flowing through her mind as she continued to watch him, Su Jin hated to say it but he looked good in his current clothes. They seemed to fit him perfectly due to his tall build.
Su Jin stayed put watching Choi Young Do as he lay on the mat breathing heavily after the man had gone. After Su Jin felt adequate time had passed for him to recuperate she walked up to him placing her face in his line of vision.
"Fight me." Su Jin said, determination shinning in her eyes,
She was going to beat him to a pulp which will show that he's weaker and all her interests in him will go flying out the door since she had told herself a million times that she would never accept anyone weaker than her.
Choi Young Do looked genuinely surprised as he sat up immediately turning around to face her.
"What are you doing here?"
"None of your business. Just fight me." Su Jin answered becoming less civil by each passing second, she had to beat him as soon as possible.
"I don't fight girls." Choi Young Do dismissed her, he wasn't in the mood for playing around
"Wae?(why?) You never had any problem bullying them?"
Choi Young Do was confused, what was wrong with her? He had never seen Su Jin so…. Catty.
"Don't be such a little baby." There was no humour in Su Jin's expression as she said that.
"Fine."
If Su Jin was going to be like this then Young Do was going to knock some sense into her. He had originally come here seeking pain in order to forget what had transpired between Cha Eun Sang and him and meeting her mother. If it hadn't been for the dream he had then he wouldn't have asked her to eat noodles with him and that meant he would've have never found out. He wasn't sure if the dream was a bad thing or good thing. He just couldn't forgive himself for being born such a jerk and felt the only way he could forget was to feel pain and the only way he could think of was here. So maybe a little more sparring wouldn't hurt.
The two of them fought for a while as neither of them had fallen yet, no words exchanged just blows and efforts to trip one another. Halfway through Su Jin had started throwing kicks because she was frustrated that she hadn't placed him on the mat yet. It was starting to eat her away and she was really going crazy. She threw kick after kick as Choi Young Do barely blocked each one. After a few more kicks Choi Young Do grabbed the leg that was kicking at him and wrapped one of his legs around the foot that was still on the mat making her trip. Before she could get up Choi Young Do pinned her to the mat, his hands holding hers above her head and his legs pinning hers together.
"Let go!"
"No."
"I said get off of me!" Su Jin shouted trying to wriggle out of his grip,
"Not until you tell me what's wrong." Choi Young Do said as he watched her expression
"You! Last time you said I was the problem right? Well for me you're the problem. Do you get it? We are both a problem to each other so why don't we just avoid each other that way we will both be happy." Su Jin said turning her face away as she felt her eyes start stinging.
"What are you talking about? I said I was sorry. I didn't mean those things."
"Well I do." Su Jin said softly
Choi Young Do was surprised to see her eyes watery, why was everyone crying today? First Cha Eun Sang and now Su Jin. He wasn't sure what to do in this situation, not to mention that he had never seen anything even close to this emotion on Su Jin. He continued to just look at her dumbfounded as her eyes glistened in the light.
"Ya, what are you talking about." Choi Young Do after getting over his shock,
"I hate you… I hate everything about you…I want nothing to do with you."
Choi Young Do just couldn't wrap his head around her sudden change from yesterday, what had he done wrong for her to suddenly act like this? Choi Young Do slowly released her arms as he got off of her slowly backing away. He stood there for a few seconds before walking out.
Su Jin continued to lay there as she glared at the lights on the ceiling as she smacked her fist into the mat, "It's better this way. It's not like if I told him I like him he would like me back. After all he likes Cha Eun Sang and I can't deal with this friends then strangers then friends again thing."
Su Jin slowly sat up rubbing her wrists where Choi Young Do had held her, "it was definitely better this way… wasn't it?"
Either way there's no reason for her to regret it any time soon since she won't be seeing him for the next two days.
Choi Young Do stood in the hallway just in front of the locker rooms after getting changed, why does everyone that he cares about always end up leaving him or hating him? He wondered if he really was that bad of a person? He had thought Su Jin had become someone that he could rely on since they had gone through ups and downs and somehow she had always come back to help him. Yet here he was standing here after she said that she hated him. It had never occurred to him that she may someday hate him and he felt a slight pain in his heart.
"Choi Young Do."
He jumped at the call as he turned around to see his father standing there.
"How can you take so long to beat a GIRL?" his father's tone condescending as he watched Young Do
"if you can't even beat a girl fast enough how do you ever expect to beat me? I thought you may get somewhere but it seems you are still stuck in the same place."
Choi Young Do felt numb, he heard what his father said but it had no effect on him, his mind was still circling around what Su Jin had just said to him. His father continued to say things but slowly Young Do's hearing disappeared and all that his senses picked up was the movement of his father's mouth. The blood rushed through his body as he stood there vaguely aware of what was going on.
"Why does everyone always leave me? Even when they say they won't?"
It was a question that caught both him and his father off guard, he had thought this question multiple times but never had he dared ask the question because he was afraid of the answer.
"You need to get rid of that soft heart that you have, this is seen as weakness and it will definitely be used against you. You're not a child anymore. Grow up."
"But I was never a child. Never had I felt like a child."
"You're inability to control your emotions and heart is what will bring you down. You're inability to use people or cheat is also a consequence of your lack of control. You'll never beat me like this."
Unbeknownst to both father and son Su Jin stood just around the corner, she had heard what Choi Young Do said and it was truly breaking her heart. Maybe she was already regretting her decision. Before Su Jin knew what she was doing she had walked up to the two figures before she grabbed Choi Young Do's hand pulling him away. She kept pulling him through the hallways until finally they were outside, the cool air drying of the sweat that was still clinging to her from their spar.
Choi Young Do's senses were still dysfunctional as he just stood and stared at Su Jin, he wasn't quite sure what had just happened, he wasn't quite sure if she was really there or he had suddenly started day dreaming.
Su Jin turned around facing him, no matter how hard she tried or how many times she tried to distance herself from him something kept pulling her back. It seemed the little child within him was calling out to her again, the one that had no one to protect him and that was when she made her decision. No more running away. She was going to protect and help him regardless of whether she was going to get hurt in the process. He needed someone and she just couldn't stand to see him hurt. Like his father said, despite the way people see him he had an honest heart that portrayed feelings which are hard to cover.
Choi Young Do looked down to the hand that was still holding his, once again her warmth spreading through his fingertips and to the rest of his body bringing back his senses. He pulled her to him as he tightly wrapped both his arms around her.
"I thought you left me too." He mumbled
Su Jin patted his back softly, her heart aching from the dimming of his voice as if he was afraid that if he said it louder it would be true. This side of Choi Young Do was probably what brought her back each time, this childlike innocence that somehow coexisted with his messed up nature. How many people had seen this side of him? If they knew then they wouldn't be nearly as scared as they are.
"Well I'm here aren't I." Su Jin replied in return
"Komawo,(thanks) for coming back." He said as he continued to hold onto her
"Mian(sorry) for saying those things. But I guess now we're even huh…"
After a few minutes of the two just standing there while Su Jin softly patted his back, Choi Young Do released his hold on her stepping back. "I swear if you ever do that again you're dead. Araseo?" (understand?)
Su Jin gave a light chuckle, "araseo." (understood.) she said as she gave him a quick salute.
Choi Young Do wasn't sure what it was that he felt for Su Jin and why he felt he needed her so much. He had been thinking about this for a while and came to conclusion that it was some sort of familial love that he felt for her … after all he liked Cha Eun Sang and it seemed that she had an interest in Myungsoo.
