Chapter 14: Late night walk….
On the way home….
The Dragneels has finished dinner at the restaurant and were making their back home now. Since Igneel came from work, they drove back instead of walking.
As the pulled into their driveway Natsu noticed Lucy standing in front of her front door, she was looking through her bag.
They park and exit the car. Lucy notices them. "Good Evening" said Igneel. "Good Evening" She said back. Natsu looked at her and felt that weird feeling again. He looked away. He mad is way to the front door when he overheard Lucy mumbling to herself.
"Where is it?" She said as she started to pour out the contents of her bag on the porch.
Zeref notices as well. "Everything alright?" Asked Zeref.
Lucy looks over. "Yes, everything is fine" She said and smiled. Zeref nodded and entered the house and Natsu followed.
Lucy looked at her phone it was now 9:00 pm. She walked locked out of her house, she must have forgotten to check if her key was with her. "Great, now what I am going to do?" She asked herself. She walks down and sits on one of the steps. It was getting a bit chilly since night time was approaching.
Lucy's father was gone on business trip, he left this morning and will be back in a week and her mother went to go visit her family back in the capital. She was going to live alone for a week, but know she cant even get into her own house.
"Hmmm, is there anywhere I can go spend the night?" She thought.
She pulls out her phone and quickly looks for s friend to call. She dials the number and waits for a response.
"Ring…ring…ring…Hello?" Said the voice on the other end.
"Hi Levy" Said Lucy.
"Hi Lucy, what's up? Why are you calling so late?" Asked Levy.
"Well I have a bit of a problem..." She said.
"A problem? What happened are you alright?" She asked in a worried voice.
"Yes I am fine, I just made a silly mistake. I forgot to take my keys with me and now I'm locked out of my house" She explained.
"Oh wow, what about your parents will they be coming home soon" Asked Levy.
"They are both gone for the week, my dad is on a business trip and my mom is visiting family back at the capital" Explained Lucy.
"Ohhh I see, that is a problem, you want to come over and spend the night then?" Asked Levy.
"If it is alright with your parents, I just no where else to go" Said Lucy.
"It should be fine, I'll explain the situation to them, don't worry my parents are really nice and understanding" Levy said.
"Thanks Levy, just text me your address and I will make my over" Said Lucy.
"Yeah no problem, see you soon Lu" Said Levy. Lucy hangs up and waits for Levy's text.
XxX meanwhile in the Dragneels house…
"Hmmm that's strange" Said Igneel.
"What is it?" Asked Zeref.
Igneel pointed to the window. "our neighbour Lucy is sitting on the steps of her porch" Said Igneel.
"What?" Asked Natsu as he looked up from his phone. Zeref got up and walked over to where Igneel was. He looked out the window and saw Lucy talking on to phone.
"You think something could be wrong?" Asked Zeref.
"I'm not sure, but we got home and hour ago and looks like she has not moved since we got back." Said Igneel.
"Anyways I'm going to go take a shower now" said Igneel as he turned around and went upstairs.
"Natsu" Said Zeref.
"Yeah?" answered Natsu.
"Maybe you should go if everything is ok" Said Zeref.
"Why me?" Whined Natsu.
"Because you're classmates, and you seem to know her a bit better than us" Explained Zeref.
"Uhhh fine" said Natsu as he got off the couch and made his way to wards the front door.
He opens the door and steps out. "Hey" He said. "Lucy stands up in surprise. "oh Natsu!" She said.
"You ok?" He asked.
"Yeah….its' fine" She said.
"Doesn't seem like everything is fine" He said.
"hahaha, to be honest its not going so good" Said Lucy.
"Why?" Asked Natsu.
"I forgot my key and locked myself out, and my parents are gone for the week" Explained Lucy.
"Oh that sucks" Said Natsu.
"Yeah, by the way do know where SunnyBrook Drive is?" She asked.
"Yeah it's the street to the right of our school" said Natsu.
"Oh really thanks" Said Lucy as she started to take a few steps forward.
"You going there now?" Asked Natsu.
"Well yeah, I'm going to spend the night at Levy's house." Said Lucy.
"Oh I see, well then guess I'll see you school tomorrow then?" He asked.
"Yup" She said.
Natsu looked out into the street and saw how dark it already was. "Hey" He said again.
"Yes?" said Lucy back.
"Want me to walk you there?" He asked.
Lucy was a bit surprised… she could her face getting at warm. "You sure?" She asked back.
"Yeah its no problem" He said.
"Alright then, thanks Natsu" she said.
"One sec let me go put some shoes on" He said and stepped back into his house.
Zeref was already standing there holding Natsu shoes and a sweater. "How did you know?" Asked Natsu.
"I was listening to your conversation; you didn't close the door all the way so I over heard everything" Explained Zeref.
"Ok that was kinda creepy. of you to do" Said Natsu. He took his shoes and put them on.
"By the way, you made a good choice" said Zeref.
"huh?" Asked Natsu.
"On never mind, just go already, I'll tell dad where you went, just get back home as soon as possible" said Zeref.
"Ok, see you" said Natsu as he took the sweater and left.
"Sorry about the wait" He said.
"Oh, don't worry about it" She said.
They start to make their way. At first it was a bit of awkward silence between the two of them. "So…" Said Natsu. Lucy looked at him. "Yeah?" she asked. "Uh…did you find a job?" He asked.
"Yeah, I did, hey by chance were you at The Blue Moon tonight?" She asked.
Natsu then realised it. "So I was her!" thought Natsu.
"Uh yeah I was" He said.
"Oh nice, I thought I saw you there" she said.
"Haha yeah me too, I was a bit surprised at first when I realised you were there too" He said.
"Oh really…. Well anyways I got hired there! I start tomorrow" Lucy said with a smile. "Are you excited to work?" He asked her.
" Hahaha not really, but I am excited to make some money of my own" She explained.
By the time Natsu noticed they were already passing by Magnolia Academy. They reached the end of the street that their school was on. "Which way again?" She asked as she yawned. "Right" said Natsu.
"Oh yeah" She said.
After walking for a w few more minuets they make it to SunnyBrook Drive.
"So what's the house number?" Asked Natsu.
"Let me check her text again…. it's number 174" She said.
"Ok so its further down that way" Natsu said as he pointed in the direction. Lucy nodded. "So do you have a way to get into your house?" Asked Natsu. "No, I think I am going to have to call a locksmith tomorrow after school so they can let me in" Said Lucy.
"Oh I see" said Natsu.
"Oh there it is!" said Lucy.
Natsu looked to confirm it was the correct address. "Thanks Natsu, I really appreciated this" said Lucy.
"No problem" He said. Lucy walked up to the front door and knocked, about one second later the front door swings open and Levy steps out. "You made it!" Said Levy as she went to hug Lucy. Lucy returned the hug.
"Hey Levy" said Lucy.
"How was it getting here, did you get here alone? You know that it's a bit dangerous to walk around at night alone!" said Levy.
"No Natsu was nice enough to walk me here, were neighbours" said Lucy.
Levy leans over and sees Natsu in the distance. "Thanks Natsu! See you tomorrow" Yelled Levy as she waved her hand. Natsu just nodded.
XxX Insides the McGardens home…
Lucy enters Levy's house and is greeted by Levy's parents. "You must be Lucy" Said her mother.
"Yes, its nice to meet you and thank very much for letting me stay the night" Said Lucy.
"Oh, its no problem at all" Said Her mother.
Lucy took off her shoes and followed Levy. They enter Levy's room and to Lucy's surprise there a blow up mattress set up on the floor. "You really prepared for this" Said Lucy. Levy laughed. "ha-ha yeah I guess so" said Levy.
Lucy sat down on the mattress.
"So you got Natsu to walk you" Said Levy as she gave Lucy funny look.
"It's not what you think it is!" said Lucy.
"Sureee its not!" Levy said in a teasing voice.
"Really, we live next to each other and he offered to walk me" Explained Lucy.
Levy raised her brow. "So that's how it is" Said Levy.
"I mean Natsu's a nice guy so I'm sure he would have done that for anyone" Said Levy.
"Exactly, he was just being kind because we are classmates who happen to be neighbours" Said Lucy.
"ok ok, so what are you going to do about your house?" Asked Levy.
"I'm going to call a lock smith tomorrow after school" said Lucy.
"Ok that's good, just one more problem, you don't have your school uniform or any of your textbooks or notebooks" Said Levy.
Lucy's eyes widened when she realised that. "That's right!" Said Lucy.
"outside clothes are not allowed in school only uniforms" said Levy.
"Yeah I know, I guess I am going to have to go to the principle and explain my situation and hope he lets me get away just this once" Said Lucy.
"yeah, I think that's a good idea, I mean worst case you have to wear your gym clothes all day" Said Levy.
"Oh that could be a possibility" Lucy said.
They both laughed. Levy then yawned. "I'm getting a bit sleepy, so I think we should go to bed know, we have to get up early tomorrow" Said Levy as she walked over to her light switched.
Lucy took her jeans and socks off. "You sure you don't want to borrow something?" Asked Levy.
"No, I am fine, besides Levy you're so tiny I wont fit in anything" Said Lucy laughing.
"That is true" Levy replied.
Lucy climbed under the blanket and Levy switches the lights off.
"Night Levy" Said Lucy.
"Night Lucy" replied Levy.
After a few minuets, Levy fell a sleep. Lucy was just lying there thinking.
"I'm sure that Natsu was just being nice, I don't understand why at first Levy was being so teasing about it" Thought Lucy. She started to slowly doze off.
