Jealousy

22 weeks…

In a bistro outside Storybrooke, Emma and Killian was enjoying their quiet dinner—the romantic kind, the kind with candles, roses and other sorts of romantic decorations on the table. Emma had already lost count of dates that they'd had, but she appreciated Killian's effort at planning evenings out to make her happy.

When a waiter approached their table asking if they're interested in having any wine, Killian quickly refused. "Lady's pregnant, so… no wine on the table."

After the waiter turned away, Emma amused at how Killian reacted. "A little red wine won't hurt, you know. And you can have wine if you want. You don't have to stay off wine just because I'm pregnant."

"I just don't want my mouth smelling like alcohol when I kiss you tonight," he laughed.

Amidst the romantic atmosphere in the bistro with many other couples enjoying the company of their partner, there was a woman sitting by the bar alone. And this woman was looking at a particular man—Killian Jones. She hated how happy he seemed with the blonde. She hated the way he laughed when he's with her.

Killian ceased laughing when he caught a glimpse of a familiar figure. He kept staring at her, not noticing Emma's staring at him looking at some other woman for quite some time. "Killian? Who were you looking at? Some chicks with big boobs?" She snapped at him. A surge of jealousy suddenly rose in her chest.

That's when he was back to himself. "What? What are you talking about, love?" That was the wrong response. It just made Emma angrier.

"You're looking at another woman. Don't you think I'd notice?" She threw her napkin on the table and stormed out of the bistro.

She left before he could say anything. I'm in huge trouble, he thought.

She was leaning against the yellow beetle when he came out of the bistro, the unpleasant expressions on her face faded away.

"I'm sorry, love. I didn't mean to do what I did back inside. I know you're upset about it," he said, in his sincerely apologetic tone.

She took a deep breath. "It's okay… I didn't know why I snapped like that. Maybe it's just hormones. Can we just go home now? I'm tired."

"Sure, love."

As the couple was heading back to their apartment, there was an awkward silence between the lovebirds. Killian sensed the tension between them, but instead of breaking the silence he decided to roll with it. He knew he was the one to blame so he didn't dare strike up a conversation before he knew she wanted one. He took a peep at her when she was driving them back to Storybrooke. She's clearly upset about what happened earlier, even though she said she wasn't. He sighed when recalling his inappropriateness.

Once they stepped inside the apartment, Emma quickly took off her low-heeled shoes and went straight to the bedroom. Killian tagged along behind her, and suddenly he saw her stooped a bit and placed a hand on her stomach. "What's the matter, love? Something wrong?"

She turned to face him. "Killian… She kicked! I just felt it!" She was super excited about this. She finally felt the baby moving inside her belly. "Come feel it!" She grabbed his hand and placed it on the right position. Their baby girl kicked again. "Did you feel it?" she said, followed by a joyful laughter.

He nodded. They were both over the moon at their daughter's movements. He kissed her on the cheek and pulled her into his warm arms. Then he whispered I love you in her ear. The blonde instantly blushed and seductively responded, "Prove it to me, pirate..."

After enjoying a great deal of time of intimacy and sensuality, they both lied on the bed exhausted. Soon they drifted off to sleep…

Emma waked up in the middle of the night. The baby kept kicking her bladder and she finally couldn't resist the need to use the bathroom. She rubbed her eyes and heard some heavy breathing next to her.

She heard him mumbling, "Vera, don't hurt her. Vera, please." He kept repeating the name Vera. It immediately rang a bell. Vera…They knew each other!? That was a total shock to her. How come he never told me he knew Vera? She stared at the man asleep with her brows furrowed.

The sun shone through the curtain and the sunlight pierced the pirate's eyelids, waking him up. He grunted and reluctantly sat up, discovering Emma sitting in a nearby armchair staring right at him, her face completely impassive.

"Why are you looking at me like that, love? Are you captured by this dashing pirate here?" He gave a signature grin and was still being flippant, not knowing what kind of trouble he got himself in.

"Who's Vera?" she said coldly. "You muttered her name numerous times when you're asleep. Care to explain that to me?"

The man silently swore and answered, "She's an old… acquaintance, whom you need not know about."

"Acquaintance, huh? So you're hitting on my friend? Unbelievable!" she lashed out.

He was astonished by what she said. "She's your what?" He thought Vera was making it up. He never thought they'd be good friends.

"A friend. How did you two know each other exactly?" Now she's just like interrogating a criminal. "And why didn't you tell me you know Vera? Tell me the truth, Killian."

"She was… one of my companions back in the old pirate days."

Emma wanted to say something to respond but couldn't think of any, so she held back. After moments of silence processing his words, she finally spoke, "I… I need some time alone." She grabbed her jacket and left the apartment in tears.

Killian angrily punched the innocent mattress, blaming himself for what happened.

What do you think about this chapter? I kind of came up with it while doing revision lol Let me know how I did!
