Recap: I know that the way I'm acting is incredibly selfish. Usui never had the love he wanted from his family but now that his family wants him back, he should be happy that he's finally accepted. However, Usui was the first person I've ever let into my heart ever since "the incident." He was the one that broke down the barriers that I've tried so hard to keep up. I believed in him, but now he was leaving me. Before I wouldn't even care, but now I don't want him to leave.

Misaki's POV

"NO!" I screamed at the doctor, "I want to see my mommy and daddy right now!"

"I'm sorry, sweetie, but your parents are in critical condition and you can't see them. You're also injured yourself so you shouldn't be going anywhere for a while," explained the doctor calmly.

"No!" came my reply as I ripped off all the wires and tubes from my body and sprinted out of the room.

"Someone get the girl!" shouted one of the nurses.

I ignored everything. I ignored the screaming nurses and doctors. I ignored the fact that I was cold with only a thin robe on. I ignored the pounding in my head. I ignored the pain that was going through my body. I just kept running. I needed to see my parents.

I abruptly stopped when I saw a man covered in blood come out of a room with disappointment written all over his face. I felt like this was the place I had to be so I quickly hid around a corner and watched the man.

A woman covered with blood came up to the man from the room right across from him, "Did you save her?" she asked.

"No, her injuries are too severe to be healed. You?" replied the man.

"Same here," she replied.

My doctor came running up to the two doctors, "Did you save them?" he asked.

"No," they both replied.

"What about their daughter? Is she okay?" asked the female doctor.

"Yeah, she had many injuries but none were as severe as her parents. But while we're on the topic of her, did you guys by any chance see her?" asked my doctor.

"No, why?" responded the male doctor.

"She ran out of the room trying to find her parents," explained my doctor.

"Well we better quickly find her and explain to her the news," said the woman.

"No, we shouldn't do that," said my doctor abruptly,"she ran out of the room like a madwoman. I think we should not tell her anything until she's mentally stable. That crash gave her a concussion."

The doctors continued talking, but I stopped listening by then, trying to decipher what I had just heard.

Does that mean my parents are dead? No! They can't be dead! They can't be dead! THEY CAN'T BE DEAD!

The scene suddenly changed from the hospital to my old house.

I ran up the stairs, ignoring Kaori who told me to slow down. I sprinted all the way upstairs and banged on one of the doors.

"Suzuna! I'm home!" I shouted as I opened the door. I looked into the room shocked: there was nothing there. The room was completely empty without any furniture and worse, without Suzuna.

"Suzuna!" I screamed, running throughout the whole house.

"Stop it!" yelled Kaori, grabbing on my arm, "Your sister isn't here! She moved to an orphanage."

"What?!" I asked in disbelief.

"Your sister was moved to an orphanage since your parents died," explained Kaori.

"Wait, but I'll be able to see her right? You told me I was going to an orphanage too," I said worriedly.

"Sweetie," started Kaori, " since you were in the hospital, you couldn't be transferred to an orphanage with your sister. The orphanage she is in now is full and it has no room for you. You must be moved to a different orphanage then her," explained Kaori soothingly.

"Why?" I said as a tear came down my cheek, "Why must we be separated when we already lost half of our family?"

"I'm so sorry," Kaori said hugging me, "but she was lucky she wasn't in the car with you guys. Because she is so young she might not have survived like you. Just be thankful that she's alive alright."

I nodded my head instead of verbally responding afraid that I would burst into tears once I opened my mouth; I didn't want to hear any more of my sobs. I've cried too much already, I must stay strong.

"Alright, now go get your stuff first. Then, we'll head over to the cemetery and afterwards I'll take you to the orphanage, okay?" said Kaori.

I meekly nodded and trudged upstairs to get my belongings. Not only have I lost my parents, I've also lost my sister.

The scene started to change once again, but this time I was now in Seika.

I looked around and spotted Usui sitting in the corner sucking on a lollipop.

"What are you doing here baka?! There's no eating in the student council room!" I scolded.

Usui ignored me and continued staring out the window.

"Oi, are you listening?!" I yelled.

Usui slowly turned to face me and I was shocked. His eyes were cold and menacing and the scowl on his face sent a shiver up my spine. What was wrong with him? He never looked at me that way before. Did I do something to upset him?

"Oh, so now you're talking to me?" asked Usui as he raised an eyebrow.

"W-what are you t-talking about?" I stammered. Gosh what was wrong with me! Why am I so afraid of him?

"I left you remember. I lied to you and returned back to my family. After that you started to cling to me and it annoyed the hell out of me. I was only nice to you before because I was so lonely and desperate for a friend that I turned to you. I don't know what I was thinking back then, befriending a mute. I must have been stupid. Since you kept annoying me I got my grandfather to shut down the orphanage you lived in and that shut you up. You stopped talking to me ever since. Don't you remember any of that, you idiot?," he said with an evil smirk on his stupid face.

I winced upon hearing his harsh words, but what really got to me was the fact my orphanage got shut down... because of me... No! This can't be!

I glared at Usui, silently demanding him to take back what he said and act like it was all a joke, but I didn't get what I wanted. Usui stared at me with a cold gaze, daring me to accept the fact and break down. And I did just that. I fell on the ground and broke into tears.

"Misaki! Wake up!" I heard someone shout in the distance.

I woke up with a start. I was sweating like crazy with tears running down my face and I was panting like I had just ran a marathon.

Sakura was shaking me, "Misaki, are you alright?!"

I weakly nodded as I took a look at my surroundings. I was still in my room, but most of the orphans were present, staring at me with concern.

"Are you sure you're alright?" asked Satsuki sitting on the edge of my bed.

"Yeah," I replied quietly as I looked at all the worried faces around me. I caught Usui's eye. He was also staring at me with a worried look, but after that nightmare, I was too upset to care. I must have screamed during my nightmare and woke everyone up.

"I'm sorry, everyone," I apologized softly, "I didn't mean to wake you all."

"It's alright," Shizuko also replied quietly. She sat right next to me and caressed my hand, "Do you want to talk about it?

I quickly shook my head and apologized again for waking everyone up. In the end, everyone left our room, but still gazed at me worriedly. I took a deep breath before slowly laying back down.

"Misaki, if anything ever bothers you, you know you can tell us right?" whispered Sakura.

I nodded without looking up and tried to go back to sleep, which was impossible.

That nightmare was a reminder of what happens when I let people through my barriers. Now I must build them up again, stronger and firmer than the last.

~Next Day~

The following morning I woke up with dark circles under my eyes. Of course I hadn't gotten any much sleep. I quickly ran downstairs, grabbed a banana, and speed-walked out the door before someone tried to talk to me. I wasn't in the mood to talk to anybody or even see their faces. I know it sounds a bit cruel, but I can't help it. Those nightmares just gave me a huge reminder that I shouldn't be trusting anybody.

I continued walking down the street when suddenly a limousine pulled up beside me. Thinking it must've been Tora, I ran away from the vehicle. However, I was proven wrong when two men dressed in a formal suit ran after me, grabbed my arms, and shoved me in the limousine. I started to shout at them but stopped when my eyes landed on a foreign guy with black hair and blue eyes who had a shocking resemblance to Usui.

"Wow, it's finally nice to meet you. I never thought you looked like this. You looked a lot better in the picture, you know," stated Usui's look-alike.

"Who are you?!" I shouted, "You know, you shouldn't go around kidnapping people."

"Oh right. My apologies, Miss Ayuzawa. My name is Gerard Walker and if you haven't been able to tell by now I am Takumi's brother," responded Gerard, "and I am not kidnapping you. I simply want to discuss things with you. That is all."

I stared at Gerard for who knows how long before slowly relaxing my tense muscles that were ready to punch anyone who dared to touch me.

"What did you want to discuss?" I asked, putting on my formal act.

"I just wanted to talk to you about my brother," Gerard stated while folding his hands in his lap, "If you didn't know, Takumi will be rejoining our family again."

"I've realized that," I said blocking out the pain of last night's argument,"so why are you telling me this?"

"I'm not talking to you right now to gloat. In fact, I was the first person who wanted him gone. It's not like I want him back, but the company must move forward. I'm talking to you right now because Takumi is willing to do anything in order to protect you. Even if that means rebelling against us. Therefore, I came to you to propose a deal," said Gerard.

"What are you talking about?" I inquired, "Usui never cared for me at all. That's why he wants to return to the family right?"

"Foolish girl. I thought you were smarter than this. The reason Takumi is leaving is because he wants to protect you. His first answer when told to return home was 'no,' however Grandfather threatened to hurt you if he didn't comply," Gerard responded with an annoyed look on his face.

So Usui does care for me? Is that was he was trying to tell me when I selfishly ran off? Gosh, I am such an idiot! I should really apologize to him.

"Wait, what's the deal you were talking about?" I asked nervous.

"How would you like to see your sister again?" asked Gerard.

"My sister? What does this have to do with my sister? How do you even know about her? Why are you involving her in this mess?" I questioned in one breath.

"Would you calm down?! I can't answer all those questions at once!" scolded the exasperated boy, "I'm giving an opportunity to see your sister again on one condition."

Finally! I get to see the sister I lost so long ago! "What is it?" I asked with a little excitement creeping into my voice.

"Promise to leave Takumi as well as your past orphanage," stated Gerard with a monotonous voice.

"Wait, what?!" I exclaimed.

"Promise to leave Takumi as well as your past orphanage," he repeated as if there was nothing wrong with that statement.

"I can't do that. All my friends are at that orphanage. The people who've taken care of me as a baby are in that orphanage... Usui is in that orphanage," I stated, whispering the last part.

"Well, you always have the other option," said Gerard.

"What's the other option?" I asked looking at Gerard suspiciously, knowing it might be something worse.

"You could stay with that orphanage of yours and stay with Takumi, but we will later shut down the orphanage and everyone will have to be separated anyways," Gerard said.

I looked at him horrified. Who would do such a thing?! "How would this benefit you?" I asked.

"Like I've said before, Takumi is willing to do anything for you. Even if that means rebelling against us. I've come to realize that Takumi's weak spot is you and without you, Takumi would crumple. And you would have to be a true idiot to not realize what a genius Takumi is. Sooner or later, he will find a way to abandon the family and the company just to get to you and I can't have that," explained Gerard.

"So that's why you want to get rid of me," I whispered, finally realizing what this was all about, "You want to get rid of me so you can have full control of Usui without me getting in the way. But why do you have to involve the orphanage?"

"It's a threat so we can get you to do things our way. I was hoping it would just be a threat, but I would have no problem shutting it down for real. You people don't matter to me," stated Gerard matter-of-factly, "Well anyways, I'm being very generous right now. You could benefit from this if you choose to go live with your sister. You get to reunite with your only relative and the orphanage is safe. Which do you pick?"

I was so confused and my head hurt from the lack of sleep joined with the headache that's pounding my skull. However, I was still able to make my choice even with this pain in my head. I'm sorry, Usui.
