Chapter 14
APOV
I sat upright and still in my chair watching as Dumbledore tried to struggle against the restraints on him. Harry came and sat next to me in the chair that Carlisle had previously occupied. Everyone gasped as they recognised who had come to sit next to me. "Isn't it amazing a human-drinking vampire sits on a wizarding throne? I had thought that there were conditions to this kind of thing, not just letting any old trash take the position." Dumbledore said, confident that he was going to anger me. I looked down at him and smiled, "I may be a vampire now, but I was a witch when I came of age. Therefore my right to the throne is still secure and despite my lack of a heartbeat, my magic is a strong as it always was." I told him. He frowned; clearly he was hoping that I was not as controlled as I had been.
"I will give you the opportunity to answer the questions that I have for you, without the influence of veritiserium. I will warn you however if you lie more than three times I will be forced to administer the serum. I will know if you are lying as my mate and husband is skilled at detecting these things." I told the courtroom, but I wasn't willing to tell them how he was skilled at it. The Wizengamot nodded and gestured for me to proceed. I turned back to look at Dumbledore to see him smirking up at me, he clearly thought he could get away with this. I tilted my head slightly as I used to do at school, making it seem like I was thinking. "Why did you wait until now to have these four men arrested?" I asked.
He blinked and I smirked inwardly as he clearly hadn't been expecting that question. "I guess with age it had slipped my mind." Jasper coughed, "I thought you were told to tell the truth. Please tell us the real reason that you waited so long after the war to bring these men in to custody." He drawled the question out and I watched as Dumbledore bristled. "I resent the fact that you seem to think I'm lying. I guess it had just slipped my mind." I looked at Jasper, who shook his head and I sighed heavily. "That's two of your three chances gone Headmaster, now please answer the question truthfully. I will not ask again."
His face began to turn slightly red under his beard. "I waited this long because I wanted to make sure I had all the evidence needed to have them tried." Jasper sighed, "He is still lying, there was nothing but deceit in that sentence." I closed my eyes briefly, then opened them and nodded; I summoned the vial of veritiserium and gestured to Peter. "Three drops on his tongue." He nodded and we watched as he went to administer it, but found that Dumbledore wouldn't open his mouth. I saw Harry smirk slightly from the corner of my eye. "Your majesty I believe that Albus has a way of working around veritiserium, you know what a manipulative bastard he is. Perhaps there is another course of action that we could take, perhaps a muggle way?"
I pretended to think about it and watched as Dumbledore opened his mouth to object and Peter struck lightning fast, placing the drops on his tongue before Dumbledore could react. I smiled as Peter said, "Isn't my mate just so devious?" He chuckled at the look of outrage on Dumbledore's face before he strolled back into the box and handed me the vial again. I nodded and looking back at Dumbledore, I began my questioning again. "What is your name?" He frowned, but answered me. "Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore." I nodded and then asked the original question again, "Why did you wait until now to have these four men arrested?" I watched him try and fight the serum, but found he was unable.
Clearly he forgot how good I am at potions. I thought and heard Jasper chuckle in my head. You made it stronger somehow didn't you? I quirked my lips slightly in answer and tuned back to Dumbledore. "I waited so long, so that I could be sure to have complete power at the ministry and have the outcome of the case be in my favour." I raised an eyebrow and asked, "And what exactly have these men done to you that would warrant them to be placed on trial for something they haven't done?" I watched as he snarled at me and snapped out, "They knew too much, they knew exactly what I had done during both wars." I frowned slightly and asked, "What did you do during both wars?"
The room was silent as we waited for him to answer. "I manipulated the situations within the last war. I made sure that the Potter's changed secret keepers, I made sure that Snape heard a fake prophecy, I made sure that the Potter's will was never read by anyone but me and deliberately ignored their wishes to put the brat with the muggles, knowing that would treat him badly. I paid them to do that, I paid the Weasley and Granger to befriend the little shit and manipulates him into doing all the tasks I had set up. I knew that during the Tournament the Moody was an imposter and that he was going to place Potter's name in the cup and turn the cup into a port-key at the end. I had hoped the little shit would die, but he just wouldn't." The room was silent after Dumbledore had finished.
I looked at him and said softly, "Did you ever intend for Harry Potter to survive the war?" I watched his lips curl into a nasty smirk. "No I didn't I had hoped that both he and Tom would kill each other. Or if Potter died, it would weaken Tom enough for me to kill him, claiming the glory." I matched his smirk and looked at him, "You didn't count on me though did you?" He snarled, "No I hadn't counted on you. You taught him what no one else would, you held him beyond what I was allowing. You ruined everything!" I smiled sweetly at him, "So sorry about that. Now you mentioned something about paying people, whose money did you use?" The smirk on Dumbledore's face was still present and I longed to wipe it off.
"Why the Potter's of course. Why would I use my own money on the Brat-who-wont-die?" I tilted my head and looked at the Goblins. They were frowning and talking in hushed whispers, it seemed they weren't aware of this. "How did you have access to Lord Potter's vaults?" The smirk grew wider. "I edited the will to make it look like I was Potter's magical guardian as Black was in jail. It enabled me to take the money from his vault as I pleased. It paid for many things and the books I found in there were particularly useful." I stared into his eyes and asked, "Useful how?"
He stared back into my eyes, barely blinking. "They were useful as they enabled me to get rid of you. Of course I had to modify the spell when I cast it at you. It would defeat the whole point of me sending you away if you could find your way back. Although the spell itself should have killed you, it's such a shame it didn't." A growl rumbled around the room, I looked over at Jasper to see his eyes were completely black and I knew he was trying incredibly hard to keep control of the Major. "You don't seem too surprised that I am still alive. You were monitoring me weren't you?" I asked, my tone clipped.
He smirked and nodded, "I monitored you from this time to see what you were up to, I was intrigued to know that you were still alive. To top that off it looked like you were settling in to the time I had sent you to, becoming all domestic and getting engaged. It was all to easy to manipulate things after that." He smirked and sat back in his chair. His comment triggered something Ragnok had told me when I had first been contacted by him on my island. "It was you. You came back to the night before Jasper left for Galveston and you took whatever you needed to grow a child inside a golem. Our child." I placed a hand on Jasper's arm as Dumbledore nodded.
"It was so easy you both had cried yourselves to sleep. I just had to extract what I needed and plant it inside the golem I had brought with me. The effect was instant; I brought the golem back with me and watched as the child grew. I gave her to a family I knew would join Tom and left it at that, I hadn't realised that they would moved to America before the war began; only coming back for deatheater meetings." He grumbled. Gasps went around the courtroom as Aría stepped between Jasper's chair and mine. "You knew that people would come after the family you placed me with. You knew that they would die and take me away to be a weapon. You're a monster, just like them." Aría stated looking Dumbledore right in the eyes. Jasper and I both put our hands on one of her shoulders.
I turned to look at Dumbledore and saw something flicker in his eyes. "This is not the first time you have done this with a child of my bloodline is it? You did it with me as well didn't you?" The smirk dropped off his face. "Your parents would not choose a side. They refused to do what I wanted and they stayed clear of Tom. They wanted to remain neutral, but to have people of their power on our side would have made a big difference to us. They refused so they had to die. I waited until you were born and cast a spell on you r mother, to make sure she rejected any of the healing magic and I placed an untraceable poison in your father's drink, making it look like his heart had simply stopped. I then placed you in a house that I knew would mould you into a weak child, making you easy for me to manipulate. I didn't realise it hadn't worked until you came to Hogwarts."
I inhaled deeply and looked down at him. "That was twice that that train of thought failed you then. It didn't work for me and it didn't work for Lord Potter. I have a few questions left for you. Do you know where Lucius Malfoy and his followers are? What are their plans?" Dumbledore blinked at me before smirking. "They are in the last place you would look and as for what their plan is I would have thought that was obvious, they want revenge." I nodded, looked at the Goblins who smirked and nodded.
"Albus Dumbledore, I find you guilty of theft, abuse of power, blackmail, dangerous alterations to spell, the use of dark magic, child abuse, neglect, endangerment of minors and murder. You will receive a sentence from me and one from the goblins." Harry chuckled at the dumb founded look on Dumbledore's face. "I have done nothing against the Goblin Nation, so why in the name of Merlin must I serve a sentence with them?" Dumbledore demanded. I sighed, "You stole from the Potter Vaults, which lie directly in control of the Goblin Nation. At nearly 120 you would have thought that you would have been aware of this." I stated snidely, fed up with his attitude. "If High King Ragnok could join me in the ante chamber we will discuss sentencing." Ragnok nodded and the pair of us left the room.
A/N: Right my mum is encouraging me to enter a competition to have your own novel published. If I were to adapt my Cowboy Take Me Away even more, changing names and editing the plot slightly. Would any of you read it as a book? Answers as Reviews would help my decision immensely
