Oh? What is this? A SECOND update in one month? Just kidding, I've been working on this chapter for over two months on and off. And since I got back into a writing groove with this story hopefully I can update it alongside my other ones (and get into writing grooves with those ones as well).
When Sola woke up that morning, she got started on her usual routine. After a quick shower and brushing her teeth, she got dressed, gave herself all her morning injections, and then disposed of all the needles on her way to her office.
Plopping into her large pink and black polka dotted office chair she grabbed her white cat-eared headphones, turned on her computer before logging into her classes and then picked up her cardigan-in-progress as she waited. Sola got started on the sleeve of the ombre gray cardigan as the sound of the intro video reached her ears.
Blah blah blah, she mouthed as it played.
"…And now, welcome students, to Advanced Biology. I'll be your teacher this semester Miss Narukame," the teacher on her computer screen said. "If you don't mind, we'll start class once a majority or all students sign in."
Yeah yeah whatever, she thought.
While she continued to work on the cardigan and waited, Sola noticed an Onli chat window pop up on her screen. Once she saw it was her friend Naminé she smiled and clicked into the chat.
Such_Creative_Chaos: Hey! How are you Naminé?
The angelically dressed dove waved a wing at Sola's white fox avatar.
Soaring-Artist: Hey there! I'm good and you?
Such_Creative_Chaos: Sitting here waiting for my first class of the day to start
Such_Creative_Chaos: Savvveeee me! ):
Soaring-Artist: XP
Soaring-Artist: Haha only if you save me from Calculus class
Sola chuckled.
Such_Creative_Chaos: It's a deal
Such_Creative_Chaos: XD
Soaring-Artist: XD
Sola giggled as the two continued to chat during both their respective classes, completely forgetting to continue working on the cardigan, only stopping to take the occasional note or answer a question. Before she knew it class was over and Naminé had to sign out temporarily to head to her next class. Sola bid her goodbye and good luck while she herself signed off to make herself a snack.
Kairi twirled her pencil between her fingers as she stared down at the paper. She was so focused on it, she almost didn't realize Selphie was talking to her when she asked the question of what she and the rest of the girls were planning on what to do after school.
"Huh? Oh, I dunno. I was just honestly planning on what to do for the next round of the competition," Kairi said.
"Well how about we just head over to this awesome little family restaurant I found out about the other day?" Selphie said. "They have this awesome menu so we can work on our stuff there while eating some delicious food."
"That sounds like a good idea," Naminé smiled. "So long as we don't let the good food there distract us."
"Oh we'll be fine," Selphie said, waving off Naminé's comment. "That being said, what is the theme for the next round anyway?"
"According to the email I got, the theme is party and I got two weeks to figure out just what to do about it," Kairi sighed. "Because so far I got no ideas whatsoever."
"Don't worry, I'm sure you'll figure it out in time," Olette smiled. "Do you at least have any idea on what to do in terms of performance?"
Kairi shook her head.
"Not really. I don't have any ideas for that either. Really hoping it'll just come to me soon though."
"All the more stuff for us to work on while we eat," Selphie said, gathering up her stuff as the bell rang. "Just a few more classes and we can go."
Olette laughed as they began to leave the cafeteria.
"Well, see you guys then!"
Sola hummed as she did her homework. Taking little interest in it however, she merely thought back to the conversation she had with her older brother earlier via Onli during his lunch break.
You want to meet someone in person that you met in Onli? she had typed, her avatar showing a confused expression. You realize how much of a bad idea that sounds right?
Sora's avatar made a pouting expression.
Yeah, of course I do, he typed. I was just saying how nice it MIGHT be to meet her. Doesn't mean I actually plan on doing that.
Sola clicked for her white fox to cross its arms.
I mean, what all do you know about this girl? IS she even a girl? Who's to say this person isn't catfishing you?
Well, she goes to our school and is taking part in the Sing Your Heart Out for one thing.
Sola blinked and frowned at that. She said nothing and just let Sora continue.
We have the same taste in music too. She's grown up on an island like us but a different one, she's an only child, and she's also unsure what she wants to pursue while at school like me.
Sola puffed up her cheeks as she furiously typed back.
Um, that doesn't really mean you KNOW her. Just stuff about her. You realize that right?
Yes, I know that.
Sooooooo, why do you think you want to go ahead and meet her?
Sora's lion made a thoughtful expression as its blue eyes gazed up with a paw on its chin.
Honestly? I feel like I already know her personally and just don't know it. Does that make sense?
Sounds like a cheesy Cinderella story but sure.
Both the lion and fox avatar started laughing at the joke.
Haha, yeah no kidding. But now do you see why I think it MIGHT be nice to meet her? See if I really do know her. Because asking for a picture and a name would still be weird.
Sola rolled her eyes but gave a smile none the less.
So what are you gonna do? You keep going on like you got some kind of plan.
For now, just plan to do nothing. If I figure out I know her, I figure it out.
Sola's white fox started laughing again.
Sounds like the smartest thing you've said so far!
Sora's lion made a rage face.
Hey! What's that supposed to mean?
The white fox made a sly expression.
Oh, nothing. Anyway, isn't your lunch break almost over?
Yeah, but don't think that this over!
Sora's lion made one last face with sticking out its tongue before it walked out of the chat window. Once Sola got the pop up that said he officially left she closed out of the window and turned to her homework.
Nearly finished now, she started to also wonder if Sora knew this girl he kept chatting to. He did meet a few new friends this year. According to him, there was the studious Olette, rumor and knowledge-loving Selphie, their shared friend Naminé (she already knew it wasn't her), and then Kairi.
Sola blinked when a thought came to her. Kairi was new to Tadhana Island, came from Destiny Islands, and was taking part in Sing Your Heart Out. If it was her…
Sola grinned when a devious idea came to her. But first, she had a question for Naminé to confirm her theory. And if she was right, then boy howdy things were going to get interesting.
Kairi was confused when Naminé asked her what her Onli account name was. Confused, she reminded her what it was and then asked why she wanted to know.
"A friend of mine is just curious," she said with a mischievous smile.
Kairi wondered what she meant but merely shrugged it off and returned to her homework. As she did, Selphie took a sip of her sweet tea and then frowned at her textbook.
"Are we sure the answers are in here?" she asked. "Because I feel like I've read this chapter at least four times already."
Olette looked over her shoulder at the textbook.
"Um, the answer is right there, actually," she said, using her pen to point it out.
"Whaaaaaat? Selphie narrowed her eyes at where Olette's pen was pointing. "Oh, that's the answer? Lame."
"Hey, do you guys know where to find the answer for number twelve?" Kairi asked. "I've been looking throughout all of chapter two but can't find it."
"Look on page twenty-six," Naminé said. "I found it there."
"Nice to see you all still working hard," Yuna said, walking over. "So, have you decided what you all want to order or do you guys want me to come back?"
"Oh, I'll have the chicken bacon ranch penne," Selphie smiled.
Yuna nodded as she wrote that down on her pad. Olette glanced at her menu again before turning to her.
"I'll have the maple glazed salmon with a side of Caesar salad and garlic mashed potatoes."
"Sure, no problem," Yuna smiled.
"I'll have the alfredo pizza please," Naminé smiled. "Thank you."
"No problem. And what about you Kairi?"
"The BLT chicken Caesar wrap please," Kairi said. "Oh, and can I also get a side of pasta salad?"
"Of course," Yuna said, nodding as she finished writing on her pad. "I'll go put those orders in right away for you guys."
"Thanks, Yuna," Olette smiled, handing her her menu.
Yuna gave one last nod as she collected the rest of the menus and then left. Not long after she was gone, Selphie leaned over the table.
"So, moving to another, more serious topic, we gotta help you decide what to do about the next round of the competition," she said. "Do we have any ideas?"
Olette pouted as she looked at her.
"Shouldn't we finish our homework before we talk about that?"
Selphie merely sat back down and waved off her comment.
"We can easily finish this stuff. But Kairi still hasn't made any progress on what she's going to do since we talked at lunch. Am I right?"
Kairi pursed her lips and slumped a bit in her own seat.
"Yeah, I still got nothing," she sighed. "I mean, for such a simple theme it's proving hard to come up with an idea for it."
"Well, when you think of party what do you think of?" Naminé asked.
"Uh, literally a party?"
Selphie rolled her eyes at Kairi.
"Geez, that's obvious but that doesn't help us," she said, puffing up her cheeks.
"Would it help to simply listen to a party song playlist? See if that helps?" Olette asked, continuing to work on her homework.
"Yeah, maybe," Kairi said. "But speaking of parties."
Kairi looked to Naminé. "What are we doing for your birthday coming up?"
Naminé looked up from her textbook, still chewing on the tip of her pen.
"Er, I wasn't sure really," she said. "I mean, you know me, I'm fine with a small get together. Doesn't have to be anything grand."
Selphie stuck her tongue out.
"Lame," she said. "Just let us plan your party. Like, maybe if we start focusing on that, maybe it can help spark some ideas for Kairi."
Naminé shrugged. "Fine by me. So, any ideas for that at least?"
The girls kept bouncing around ideas as they worked on their homework. Before long Yuna returned with their food so they moved aside their work and began to eat as they continued chatting away.
And there we have it, another chapter after soooooo long. Hope you guys enjoyed!
