(The Honeybone Inn, Day 2 of the Tournament)

Erza awoke to the sounds of loud chatter coming from the busy streets below their second story room, music from buskers at the side of the street, towns people selling their goods to tourists who have travelled from far and wide to witness some of the strongest wizards duke it out for the much sought after title of S-Class wizard. A wizard seen powerful enough to hold their guild on their shoulders in the darkest times and carry them through situations that seem too grim to pull through. A title that every wizard who has ever been part of any guild across the globe is after.

Deciding that it must mean the crowds are starting to gather inside the large arena build to host the S-Class tournament and the Grand Magic Games, Erza finally decided to rise.

Pulling her chest up, perpendicular to her legs, she let out a rather large yawn and stretched her arms out as far a possible and above her head. After letting her limbs return to a normal position, she looked over to Natsu's bed to see him sitting cross legged in the center of it with huge quantities of magic omitting from his relaxed being. Or, at least he looked relaxed. Inside Natsu's head was running rampant with anything and everything his emotions could lay their grubby, metaphorical hands on.

"Natsu?" Erza called to stir the Dragon Slayer from his strange state.

Opening his eye, Natsu gave Erza a soft smile and pushed himself to his feet with one swift motion and stood tall on top of the bed as he pulled his abandoned vest top over his head.

As Natsu pulled the Vest over his head, Erza spotted something. The Guild mark on Natsus shoulder was still moving as though it were alive, but it was beginning to change. The iconic Fairy Tail mark was becoming clouded with faint scales and cracks in his skin, however before Erza could question him about it Natsu spoke up.

"So, what do I do today again?" Natsu inquired as he hoped off of his bed and sat next to Erza who was sitting up with her legs under the rather comfy quilt.

"When we arrive, you will be given a number. Afterwards there will be numerous reporters there to question you if they want to. They may not take an interest in you but that is not necessarily a bad thing, as it means you can keep more confidential information about your magic. That is until the second event of the day. You are to take to the Arena and perform a short magical presentation for the crowds. This will also likely involve some sort of destruction so you will get to break something today-" Erza said before being temporarily interrupted by Natsu who said a simple

"awesome"

Erza glared at him for interrupting before she continued. "As I was saying. You'll demonstrate your magic and finally, you will be placed into your categories. This will determine who you fight in the later stages of the tournament so, Natsu, I mean it when I say this. Pay attention to your competition during this event so you know who may pose a threat and who will not." Erza ended with a stern voice aimed at Natsu, who at this current moment in time, was staring back at Erzas strict eyes, with ones that can only be described as boredom of the highest proportions.

"Meh, whatever." Natsu shrugged off as he stood in the centre of the room.

"RE-QUIP!" Erza yelled, exchanging her pyjamas for her usual silver breast plate and blue mini skirt before joining Natsu in the centre of the room.

"Ready to go? CHAOT-" Natsu began to chant his dimensional ripping magic but it was swiftly canceled as Erza smacked his jaw closed.

"Hygene. We talked about this Natsu." Erza scolded like she would to a child as she pulled Natsu by the ear towards the bathroom. Safe to say that Natsu wasn't too happy with being dragged off by the ear, but he knew better than to piss off Erza by this point. Not because he was scared, not because she was stronger than him. As a matter of fact, Erza was likely more afraid of Natsu that he was of her, not to mention stronger too. The only reason Natsu didn't like annoying Erza was because she was the first person to look past the monster that he is and try to see the person that he could be, if not under the total control of a sadistic dragon.

After cleaning themselves up to get ready for the day ahead, the two decided to simply walk to the Arena rather than have Natsu use his spell Chaotic Rift to conserve magic. Erza hadn't actually understood the spell until a while back when she asked about it. Natsu had said : "My magic destroys almost everything. That also includes dimensional walls, meaning I can break through into Edolas and my empty space that allows me to transport anywhere, so long as I have the magic but the spell is difficult to use because the heavier an object is, the bigger an object is and the more objects that there are, all contribute to making it a lot harder to actually transport things between the dimensions."

'When Natsu finds the time to teach me the Spells of a Dragon Slayer, I will likely gain a much clearer understanding of how the spell works.' Erza said mentally, recalling the explanation Natsu gave of his dimensional rift.

Upon arriving at the Arena, Natsu was rather impressed. Something that was no easy feat, mainly because Natsu has seen Acnologia his entire life and not many people see him and live to tell the tale of their encounter with the Chaos Dragon of Apocalypse and the Strongest Creature from the infamous Book of Zeref.

"It's quite a spectacle, isn't it Natsu?" Erza said, craning her neck to look at the huge structure before them whilst Natsu, who stood slightly behind her and to the left did the same, his eyes settled on a marking he'd seen before that was engraved on the side of the structure. He had seen it somewhere before but where?

"Ah, you must be the competitor from Fairy Tail I presume. No?" Called a woman standing at a desk with a check list and several numbers laid out on the desk in front of her.

"Yes, this is Natsu Deathbringer." Erza said, holding a hand out, gesturing towards where Natsu was standing.

"It's a pleasure to Mr. Deathbringer." The woman said, holding out her hand to shake as a greeting.

Recalling what Master Makarov told him the first time he was offered a hand shake, Natsu took her hand and gave it one firm downward shake before letting go and having it return to his side.

"Well, now that, that's over. I'll find your number." The Woman said with a smile before her eyes found the paper below her and she began scanning the details for the name 'Natsu Deathbringer' and the associated number.

"Ah, here it is." She said as her finger stopped three quarters of the way down the page. "You're actually our last contender, 54." She said, placing a stamp that said '54' on the palm on his left hand.

"If you just head through into room 67, when the reporters arrive you'll be called out and they'll be able to approach you if they want to. Are there any questions?" She asked with a smile

"Is Lycanthrope in my group?" Natsu asked with a curious gaze.

"Let me check." She said before her finger once again glided swiftly down the page. "Yes, he's in Group 6 with you."

"Good, I get to kick his ass sooner." Natsu said, cracking his knuckles before smiling and uttering "I'm all fired up"

(Quick time skip into Room 67)

The room that they'd been told they had to report to until they were called upon was rather small. For an Arena so big, it was surprising to see such tiny rooms but it would suit their purposes for now, at the very least. Once Fairy Tail show up after setting up the Lacrima in the town square they'd be hightailing it to the Arena, hopefully in time to see Natsu's entrance and the crowds reaction after he demonstrated his immense magical power for the first time.

"This sucks" Natsu whined with a childish pout

"Why would you say that Natsu? It's an honour to be in this tournament." Erza said, requipping out of her Armour and into a lighter, white blouse.

"Cos I haven't hit anything yet." Natsu said, leaning against one of the 6 walls of the small hexagonal room.

"Very well. So long as you don't use magic, you can take out your pent up energy on one of my stronger sets of armour." Erza said, giving in to his childish attitude. Then Erza had an idea. She quickly requipped the pillow she'd stored earlier and threw it at Natsu who almost instantly caught it and buried his face in the soft sack of pure perfection, in his mind. Natsu was now laying on the floor, hugging the pillow to his face with both arms wrapped protectively around the pillow.

"You're very strange Natsu." Erza said with a gentle smile as she gazed down at the Chaos Dragon Slayer.

*knock knock knock* came the sound of someone on the opposite end of the collection of wooden planks.

"Excuse me, but the reporters are ready to begin the interviews now." Said a man with a very annoying voice on the other side of the door.

"Well then Natsu, let's be off." Erza said, trying to pry the pillow from his hands.

"No, I'm taking it." Natsu said, rolling to the side so he was on his back and kicking his legs into the air to propel himself upwards and nimbly flipping his body to allow his legs to land on the floor. All whilst hugging the pillow.

As the two entered the room filled with reporters, Erza guided Natsu to his correct seat and then joined the rest of the crowd in the seating area. The room was currently filled with whispers and quiet murmurs between different groups of reporters.

As the final few mages entered a man stepped up onto the centre of the stage where the large line of mages were located and spoke "Hello everyone to this years S-Class wizard tournament. In this years event we have" and the reporter started to read out the mages guild and then their name, at which point the mage would stand and give a bow or a polite wave to the crowd. Constant flashes from cameras began to bug Natsu and his superior vision, especially when it came to Lycanthrope. This guy was said to be the strongest mage here 'Let's put that to the test' Natsu thought.

"... and finally we have, from Fairy Tail, Natsu Deathbringer." The man concluded and there was not a single camera flash nor word spoken when Natsus name was announced, maybe due to the fact he was still hugging the pillow.

Natsu didn't bother standing to wave or whatever, he sat and gave a simple nod of his head.

"Well, if there are any questions, you may now present them." The man said, stepping off to the side of the stage to give the mages full view of the crowd.

A reporter stood up and cleared his throat. "This may seem a bit rushed, but may I ask who here is the strongest?" The woman said, flipping to a new page in her notebook to take notes.

A few of the wizards raised their hands, some didn't. Whether it be out of shyness or simply they didn't know if they were really the strongest. Natsu eventually stood up and cleared his throat. "I'm gonna say this once. I'm the strongest mage here, no questions asked. You don't like it? Tough." and with his simple words over, he sat back down but, unfortunately for him, he missed the chair and fell to the ground causing the reporters to giggle and laugh at the supposedly strongest mage's clusy actions.

Another reporter stood up and turned to a woman close to the front "Mistress, may I ask what is the most powerful creature you have in your arsenal right now?" The tall male inquired.

"I suppose there's no harm in saying it but I have a tremor worm with me." She said with a smile and instantly Natsu stood up and turned to face her "Bull shit. I can't even kill those things without verging death, let alone tame them!" He yelled at the Woman accusing to have tamed a tremor Worm.

"That's cos you're an idiot." She said calmly whilst flicking her wrist in a dismissive way towards Natsu

"I may be an idiot, but I'm the second strongest Dragon to have ever lived." He said, narrowing his eye at the woman.

"You're a human, moron. You think you're a Dragon, huh? How foolish can you get? Seems as though Fairy Tauk is just fool of idiots these days. This is why no one takes Fairy Tail seriously nowadays." She said.

"Why you little" Natsu snarled, his magic flaring up in anger.

"You wanna go now, pinky?" She mocked as she finally turned to face Natsu and let her hands glow a dark Red that was tinted with yellow streak.

"I'd end you in the blink of an eye." Natsu threatened, gritting his teeth

"That sounds like a challenge. I'd like to see you try." The Woman also grit her teeth

"ENOUGH!" Yelled Erza from the crowd.

"Natsu, sit down and stop behaving like an imbecile. You, Lady Mistress, stop provoking Natsu if you know what's good for your health." Erza said with a serious tone.

Natsu sat down with a sigh and crossed his arms. The woman now known as Lady Mistress also sat back down but her mind was locked in Erzas last words. 'if you know what's good for you. I'm gonna make that kid regret ever talking to me, however, if he is a Dragon things could get interesting. I might just keep him' she mused mentally before smiling at her plan.

The questions continued and not a single one was aimed at Natsu the whole time, something Natsu was grateful of because it seems he doesn't fit in well with people who think they're stronger than him.

"And now everyone that concludes the conference. Any private interviews may be arranged afterwards but for now, we shall move onto the second phase of todays events. The Magic introductions!" The man yelled in a cheery mood, ending the conference and dismissing the reporters.

Erza approached Natsu who had now stood up and had the pillow hanging in his hand.

"What was that about? You made a total fool of yourself." Erza scolded with a sharp voice at Natsus idiotic and childish behavior.

"Those things are created to kill Dragons Erza, imagine what it could do to a human." Natsu warned "If she pulls that thing our then I'm going to need to use a full transformation to even stand a chance." Natsu said with a determined voice. His will to win clearly showing through the fact he was fighting against a Dragon killing creature.

"We'd better get going. The rest of today will hopefully give you a chance to put actions to your words." Erza smiled, knowing he would impress all those who doubted his abilities because of his display at the conference that occurred a few moments ago.

Natsu and Erza followed the large group of people that were heading towards the Arena to begin the second phase. Natsu could already hear insane amounts of cheering, clapping, yelling and stomping coming from the crowd that were surrounding the Arena.

As Natsu stepped out of the tunnel they were currently walking through his eyes were hit with the blinding light of the midday sun. Upon adjusting to the huge wave of light, Natsu realised he was above the large Arena at this moment on a stone balcony.

"NATSU, ERZA!" Came a yell from behind them and as Natsu turned round he seen all of Fairy Tail bar a few members waving flags and banners of numerous different shapes and sized in the air.

"Natsu! Knock em' dead!" Makarov yelled as a simple phrase of encouragement "But not literally!" He added quickly, remembering that Natsu might take that seriously.

"Will do Gramps!" Natsu yelled in return as he turned back around to face the crowd again.

"He's already calling me Gramps. He's a true member of Fairy Tail" Makarov said with teary anime eyes at the common name for him among mages of his beloved children of Fairy Tail.

"Hello all and welcome to the first event of this years S-Class wizard tournament!" A small man with a pumpkin over his head announced to the unruly crowd who began to cheer louder as he finished the introduction.

"This will be a simple test of strength and a mages knowledge of their own abilities! In the Centre of the Arena there is a 300 Kilogram block of tempered Obsidian. A substance that is often used to make safe rooms against the Magic Councils weapons Vault. Each mage will come out on at a time and predict the number of spells it will take to create a dent that is 6 centimeters deep in the Obsidian. The lowest Number will be in the next edition of Sorcerer Weekly with the lovely Mirajane Strauss for a photo shoot, kabo. If you predict, say for example 6 and the mages takes over 6 attacks to dent the obsidian then they are removed from the preliminaries. Now, for the first mage. Kayaba Mikano!" The small man with the pumpkin for a head announced, holding his hand towards the multiple viewing lacrima around the arena that were focused on Kayaba Mikano.

And so the second event began. Most of the mages passed the test and it was clear that many mages were playing it safe and going for numbers within the one hundreds. Some mages were eliminated because they got too confident, others were just on the line of being eliminated. Thus far 5 mages stood out from the crowd. Lycanthrope who managed it in 20 spells, a blonde man with black fire who did it in 18, Lady Mistress who achieved it in 15, Licheo Juan who dented it with 23 spells and a coloured woman who dented the obsidian in 20 spells also.

"Now, the final mage of todays pool, Natsu Deathbringer!" The announcer proclaimed but after the loud introduction there was absolute silence as Natsu leapt over the barrier and nimbly landed on the sandy floor.

Natsu approached the small panel in the centre of the arena where mages were inputting the number of spells they'd use and stared at it.

"Hey Pumpkin man. I can't read or write so can I get a hand?" He asked in an attempt to be polite and at which the crowd burst out laughing at his inability to do something that children could do.

"You're gonna be S-Class?! In your dreams!"

"Hahaha, see honey, you're better than that mage" a woman said to her daughter.

"A cyclops that can't read? How pathetic!"

Were the insults aimed at Natsu from the crowd.

"Fuck this" Natsu snarled as he turned swiftly to head for the exit

"NATSU!" someone yelled from within the crowd causing Natsu's eyes to turn to the familiar voice.

"You can't quit! I've got money ridin' on you pal!" Jerry exclaimed "So don't you dare let me down. You still gotta pay me back for that Cigarette I gave ya'"

Hearing his new friend's voice made Natsu smile and turn back to the panel, where the pumpkin man was standing now.

"Put in the lowest possible number of spells." Natsu said calmly

"You want to go with one?! That's impossible, kabo!" He yelled in surprise.

"Just do it." Natsu sighed and watched as the number one was tapped and a green tick was also pressed, causing a large black "1" to appear in the sky, once again, causing the crowd to laugh at his idiocy.

"Hey Pinky, show me the power of a dragon" Lady Mistress mocked.

Natsu ignored the comment and closed his eye calmly. His mind becoming flooded with emotions to boost his magic. His senses flared up and his magic shot into one of his fists.

"Alright, here I go!" Natsu yelled as he clenched a fist and began sprinting at the obsidian block that was close to 20 feet away from him. His magic boosted hand dragging behind his body whilst his legs pushed him towards the Obsidian at incredible speeds. His eye narrowed on the target ahead of him as he accelerated towards it. 'Just you watch and you'll see a fraction of the power of a Dragon' Natsu then smirked as he got within 2 feet of the Obsidian he "CHAOS DRAGONS ANNIHILATION FIST!" and put his weight on his front foot, rotating his hips and pushing his right shoulder towards the target and then swinging his fist round to meet the Obsidian that was instantly engulfed in Natsus magic, the silhouette of the block began to crumble and break apart sending shards of the material flying in all directions, some of them hitting the crowd. The block was now just dust and shards but his magic kept going and plowed through the Arena walls behind the Obsidian and directly out of the, thankfully, unoccupied area that Natsus magic obliterated.

As the dust and magic cleared Natsu was left standing there with a smoking fist and a huge hole in the Arena wall where his magic had hit.

The crowd was silent once again, sweat appearing on all those who mocked him. Even Fairy Tail were silent. They'd seen him use his maiming claws attack but never the fist. The power was insane.

"How's that for the power of a Dragon?!" Natsu yelled at Lady Mistress who was now sweating profusely at the fact that she'd almost fought him without preparation.

Without another word Natsu turned and left the arena and headed back up to Erza. Not waiting for the likely chants of "he cheated" or "it's a trick" to start being tossed around.

Natsu approached Erza who greeted him with a crushing hug, one stronge enough to bend some of the metal plates of Erzas armour. "I knew you could do it." She whispered as her fingers found Natsus salmon hair and her chin rested on his broad shoulders.

"Do what? All I did was break something." Natsu said with a small, friendly chuckle at the end as he too wrapped his arms around Erza, only this time, doing it right.

"I knew you'd show everyone that you're serious. That anyone who doubted your ability would regret it." Erza said as she pulled back and moved her face in front of Natsu's face to look him in the eye, only this time, it was different. There was a tear. A small, single, crystal clear tear was now pooling in Natsu's eye.

"Natsu, why are you crying?" Erza asked with an amused smile.

Natsu pulled his head back slightly in confusion before bringing his hand up to investigate the accusation and sure enough, he had shed a tear. "I... I don't know." Natsu whispered out.

(700 Miles North East of Fiore)

"Runts wake up!" Acnologia yelled, waking up the small children in his care at this moment in time

"Hey dad!"

"Yo, old man!"

"Stop that, it's annoying. Anyway, today you're going to become half dragons. I have 2 Dragon hearts with me and I will merge them with your body, giving you the ability to take the form of a Dragon." Acnologia finished

"Then we can beat him! The bastard that destroyed our homes. I'LL KILL NATSU DEATHBRINGER!"

"One day, the two of you will. I have no doubt in my mind that, that idiot will fall pray to you one day." Acnologia mused with a sadistic grin.
