Ch.12
Rome wasn't built in a day, but the blood its spilled could fill oceans. The betrayals countless, lives ending under its wrath. My weapon of choice however was, and its blood flow would be much greater than that of even that great nation, that I know. Its steel familiar yet foreign, the way it filled my hands was strange, as if it was a new weapon to my form. But I knew that it wasn't different, its body, physical form, yes but its soul, the spiritual aspect was all too familiar to me. It was a twin, no, an identical clone. With the same bloodlust and fury that was within the last, which I was all too willing to supply.
I didn't want this weapon, it wasn't out of want, it was out of necessity that I held this weapon now. I needed this weapon, for it was to be my partner in this world. I needed something powerful and familiar, I couldn't be outclassed for the simple fact of not having a weapon. This…this was my last resort. It is unfortunate that my hands now lie upon the weapon, a small sharpener grinding along the side of the blade slowly and with little noise. But I never cursed it, it was to become part of me, a part of my soul yet again, but this time…it was to be different. This blade was not to be used for evil, I will not let myself fall down that slope again. I would be in control this time, the weapon, nor will anything else control me.
Although the weapon was just as much as a monster as I was, it was beautifully made, that I had to thank Ruby for. Even though I recognized some parts of the forge, most of it was unknown to me. She…she really helped, I wouldn't be holding this weapon right now if it wasn't for her. I would repay the favor one day, hopefully soon, I hate owing people.
Running the sharpener along the blade a final time, I took a look around the room. It was a rather large room, maybe an old classroom, outfitted to be a housing for the students as of now. Cots and blankets in rows stretching down the rows, each being occupied by a student.
I spotted Ruby and Yang in two beds a few away from my own. The sisters now talking about something, Yang looking around the room with a predatorily look, Ruby turning her nose at the look. Jaune, oh poor Jaune, the boy was walking to his bed with what seemed to be a one-piece pajama suit with bunny slippers…that boy is to become a warrior? That I really doubt, he won't probably survive the initiation, people like that die in this type of work, unless he can prove me wrong. I would be seriously surprised if he did. I also spotted one more individual, Blake, leaning up against the wall, reading a book. She didn't seem to notice my presence, but I knew that to be a lie. She knew I was here just as much as I knew she was. I had to hold in my anger once again, how could she be so smug? The helping people story is just a load of bullshit, she is and always will be a terrorist, just like how I will always be a monster. But at the very least, I can use my anger against those that would hurt others, she would never be able to hide or completely abandon that rebellion of hers. She will encounter that one day, and I will be there to see her downfall.
I looked back at my H.U.D., after getting some info from Ruby, I found the right time for this place. Now it was around ten, curfew. Unless you're me of course, invisibility was working…but only slightly it seemed, it didn't seem like even Smoke could bring it up to full capacity. After Beta…after Allison was lost from my grasp, the hardware to run it seemed to be lost. But if it could work, even for a few moments, I could leave this place and get to Argum that much I knew. All I needed was to leave at the right time.
Hearing a loud noise and shaking myself out of the daydream I was in, I looked up to see Yang and Ruby fighting, looking as if they were in a ball of dust. Great, with that going on I was never going to be able to leave this place. Standing up with a small internal sigh, I moved to separate the two girls. Ruby and Yang, both somehow not noticing me, were very light surprisingly as I lifted them off the ground. Both girls looked at me sheepishly, a small and weak smile pressed on both of their faces. With that action and a small growl escaping my lips, both girls knew what they had done wrong due to the look upon their faces. Ruby however was the first to speak, "eh, sorry Augusta."
"She started it."
"Did not!"
Are they children in disguise? They could have fooled me, that's for sure. But with another growl, the both of them quickly silenced. Looking only ever slightly ashamed as I put them back down where they came from. Looking back forwards, I caught the eye of Belladona, a mental message from her telling me not to start anything. And by her luck I wasn't in the mood to. Well that was until I heard a piercing voice coming from my right. "What do you think you are doing? Some of us are trying to sleep!"
Dropping the two children and turning towards the face of the noise, I found myself looking downwards upon a woman. She was fairly pale, white hair accompanying, dressed in some sort of silk, long, shirt, it looked expensive. But the way she carried herself, the way she was staring at the three of us now, she was a brat. Even from the distressed look in her eye I could already tell she would be trouble, great.
She then turned towards Ruby and a look of horror passed through both of their faces, both of them shouting at once, "oh not you again!"
"Oh not you again! I should have known you were the one causing all of this, simpleton that you are."
Oh, it seems someone has read their word of the day today. Glad she could sound a word with three syllables. Turning to Ruby, she had already turned a shade of red and fired back at the girl. "It wasn't my fault-."
"It sure seems like it!"
"Hey just back off of my sister alright?"
"What are you trying to defend her you disgrace of a-!"
I needed to stop this, how was I supposed to get out of here with this ruckus going on. And this might be my only chance to stop it before it goes completely out of control. Stepping infront of Yang, looking a little mad herself, I stood infront of the new woman, my stature greatly surpassing hers. The air of dominance quickly turning to my favor as a loud and piercing growl escaped my throat, quickly silencing the new woman. She looked at bit shocked at the motion and realized that the argument was quickly turning into my favor without even having to say a word. And desperately tried in vain to return that power. "And just who do you think you are? Do you even know my name?"
I shook my head no, didn't care, don't care.
"What? My name is Weiss Schnee…Weiss Schnee! Do you not understand, are you brain-dead?"
No but someone is about to be.
"My family owns the country's supply of Dust and you think you can threaten me?"
Doesn't really matter to me who you are, you need to back off.
"God what breed you must come from, can't even talk back? What whore your mother-."
She didn't get a word past that. My hand already upon her throat, pure rage enveloped me. I saw nothing but a red haze as hatred coursed through my veins in an instant, the woman now at least a few feet above the ground, my right hand clasped upon her neck, my left moving for a punch. Several students gasped at the movement, Ruby and Yang two of them, but Blake only watched, seemingly wondering at what I was going to do.
I couldn't hold it back, I wanted her dead. I wanted her blood to flow upon the carpet; I wanted her screams to fill the night. Instead I poured it into something else, something much more horrifying. I couldn't hold it back, before I knew it the rage filled voice filled the night, an all too familiar voice to my ears but bringing a look of surprise to the people around me. "NEVER TALK ABOUT MY MOTHER!"
Sigma…Sigma's voice filled the night and for the first time, I wasn't afraid, I was glad with the look of horror that passed through the girls face, of everyone's face. But some deep part of my mind saw this as wrong. No, it was wrong, what was I doing? I quickly let the girl go, Weiss falling to the ground coughing, quickly being assisted by none other than Ruby, the young girl giving me a questioning look, she was scared as well. The white-haired girl turned to me, a look of regret and pain in her eyes, "you will regret that."
I didn't care, her words held no meaning to me. I just…I needed to leave. I turned for the door, my vision catching Yang looking at me harshly, and Blake…smiling. I left as quickly as I could, the door falling softly behind me.
