Unexpected
Chapter 13
'May'
Gone: 39 Weeks

"It was just a little over one year ago," Jamie muttered while sitting at the window seat looking at the setting sun. "That was when Spock and I met for the first time. He was entering the gym through the opposite door I was. I felt automatically attracted to him. Not love per say but a mutual attraction. Then we sparred. He was the best sparring partner I'd ever had."

A smile flitted across her pale face as she felt the spring breeze blow in the window. It brushed blonde hair from her face as she rubbed her hand along her stomach.

"Eventually I fell in love with your father. He was the best man I'd ever met. He was kind, gentle yet strong, and determined to keep me safe while letting me have my independence. He knew I had my pride. That's why he kept an eye on me when I was hurt or weak. He'd stay by my side but still gave me room to breathe. Every other guy I'd ever known tried to protect me. They smothered me as if they thought I was a fragile flower about to fall and shatter."

A little hand pressed against hers gently. She smiled at her child.

Just then she closed her eyes to feel Spock's presence through their bond. She smiled sensing his annoyance but also calm.

Sighing she thought of everything she was missing.

Then she decided that it'd been long enough. She stood up and dialed the number of the Consulate. She had it memorized by now, calling every other week repeatedly for nine months now.

They answered and sighed before putting her through the representative. It was then that the same Vulcan male who always communicated with her showed up. He was not alone though.

"I demand to speak with my husband," She stated without using any formality. The other man seemed startled by that. "I gave you nine months. Nine months I've been away from my husband. In those nine months you have blocked me from speaking with my husband. He isn't even aware of the fact he has fathered a child. Now… I demand you allow me to speak with him this instant."

"Is this true?" the other man asked.

"It is true she was on Vulcan when the child was conceived. However, whether the child is in fact who she claims it is has yet to be determined. As for the fact of her claiming to be the bond mate of the Ambassador's son has no verification as no reports have come to me stating that Spock in fact bonded with a human. As such I can only believe this to be a human falsehood of some sort," her normal representative stated.

The other man appeared near livid – or as livid as a Vulcan could be.

"Eight months ago a report was passed through the consulate stating that Ambassador Sarek's son did, indeed, bond with a human. The name on her file was Jamie Tabitha Kirk though it called her Tibby. Is that you Ma'am?" the new man stated.

"It is," she stated feeling suddenly worn out. She went to sit and he looked at her worried.

"You are approximately nine months, are you not?" he asked and she nodded.

"Nine months and a week," she admitted. "As such I exhaust rather easily now."

"Most Vulcan women are no longer able to move around by this point in their pregnancies without help. How peculiar," the new guy stated looking at her puzzled.

"Looking at photos of pregnant Vulcans my doctor and I discovered it's because of the difference in how they physically carry the pregnancy. Where we carry grants humans balance that Vulcan women have otherwise," She admitted. S'Nau had been curious about the same thing.

"That is logical," the man stated.

"Can you get the call through to Spock? I need to speak with him," she whispered while rubbing her stomach absently.

"I am sorry. As of five months ago Spock left the surface of Vulcan. We are unable to locate him as he is off of Vulcan," the Vulcan stated. "I apologize."

She nodded her head at him. He gave her the Vulcan salute and she returned it. Then they both disconnected the Call. With that she collapsed to her knees, sobbing. For only the second time since she left Spock and discovered she was pregnant, she gave into her tears.
