Author's Note

So sorry for the wait! I feel like that's how I open every author's note… Anyway, I will try to make this one longer and I think I will succeed; at least I hope I do.

Thanks oskaret1215, sonofmagic57, Georgia (guest), Rakiba Sultana, Artemisgirl12345, iamawesome237, KendraPJO, The Unknown, InfinityFireryFox, May A Chance, MarissaTodd, yo-naruhina, Jayden Daughter Of Eris, guest, RowanRoseandCelestleJackson, rainbowchameleon, xXThalia-GraceXx, Jasper is Golden, dragoncrimson30539, The 379th Hero, Forever-Fangirl-PJO-HP, MusicalPhantasy, AnnaCromwell, Lost Daughter of Poseidon, and Jess for reviewing.

This is a Hunters of Artemis one-shot. Princess of Flames came up with the idea and We're All Okay, guest, May a Chance, Pinecone Face1, and ink2parchment requested Hunters, so here it is! Quick note: This is going to focus on just being funny instead of serious. I've done a few… serious ones these past few times and I am going to focus on making this funny.

Disclaimer: Still not Rick Riordan; just a fourteen year old girl…

One Shot #16: Sometimes girls are SCARY!

Ren Angel's P.O.V

I walk down the halls of Canyon High School, saying hi to everyone that I see with most people saying hi back. I'm popular at Canyon High, but not for the reason most teens are popular; I'm kind to everyone and that's why many people like me. There are people at school that bully other kids to be popular, but I don't. In fact, I get bullied everyone once in a while, but I couldn't care less.

"Sarah?" I watch as Hillary McLynn walks up to her oldest friend, Sarah Fey.

"What's up Hillary?" Sarah brushes a chestnut brown strand of hair out of her jade green eyes.

"We have a bunch of transfer students and we need help showing them around," Hillary explains. "Do you mind helping out?"

I tune her out as Sarah assures her that she won't mind helping out. Hillary has cocoa brown eyes, light brown skin, and jet black, coarse hair that is normally braided. She always wears black pencil skirts, a fancy white blouse, and black heels, her face void of makeup, and today is no exception. She has a 4.0 GPA and is the top of all of her classes.

Sarah has chestnut brown, curly hair, jade green eyes, and a pale complexion. She has freckles on her nose, but no where else and wears contact lenses. She normally wears a fancy blouse that is normally pale purple or light blue (today's is pale purple) and some type of skirt. Today she has on a black pencil skirt and black flats. She also never wears makeup and has a 4.0 GPA.

I'm the exact opposite of them which is why they despise me. I always wear a leather jacket, black t-shirt, and black skinny jeans with whatever tennis shoes I can scrounge up. My jet black hair is messy and falls into my dark brown, almost black eyes; I also have light brown skin. I manage to get at least a 'C' in all my classes and get detention at least once a month, most of the time more. I'm not part of any clubs and I have no interest whatsoever in joining one.

"Ren?" I look up, startled from my thoughts. Hillary, the girl who never talks to me, is talking to me right now.

"What's up Hillary?" I ask.

"We have some transfer students and we need one more volunteer to show them around. Would you mind helping?" she asks, though it is obvious she doesn't want to.

"Of course not," I reply. She nods once and leads Sarah and I down the hall to the office. Inside the office are about a dozen girls wearing the strangest outfits. They are all wearing white shirts, silver jackets, silvery camo pants and black combat boots with their hair braided down their backs. One girl has a tiara in her hair and she glares at me dangerously.

"Alright guys," Hillary addresses the six other students here, beside herself. "This is Thalia, Rebecca, Atlanta, Leanna, K.C., Tabby, Violet, Isabelle, Penny, Yvette, and Eileen. You will each show two students around. Eileen, Yvette, you're with Riley; Penny and Isabelle, Georgia offered to show you around. Violet and Tabby will go with Willow, K.C. and Leanna, you're with Sarah, Rebecca and Atlanta are with me, and Thalia is with Ren." Everyone else leaves the office after finding their partners, leaving me with the girl with the tiara. She has jet black hair and electric blue eyes and glares at me so fiercely it's a wonder I'm not dead.

"Hello Thalia, I'm Ren," I offer hesitantly. "May I see your schedule so I can show you around?" She hands over the paper and I scan it quickly.

"Well?" she prompts.

"You have the same classes I do," I announce.

"Let's go then," I nod and lead her down to our Science class. For the rest of the day, I show Thalia around. I learn more about her and realize she's kinder than I thought. She tells me that she has a younger brother named Jason and two cousins named Nico and Percy along with a friend named Annabeth who she thinks of as a sister. In return, I tell her about my older sister Zia and how my parents immigrated here when I was three.

Over the course of the school year, I get to know the rest of the girls a little bit, but they all seem wary of me and all the other boys. The only people they outright hate are the jocks and the only people who outright hate them are Sarah and Hillary.

When grades came out a month after Thalia and her friends, she told me to call them the Hunters, had better grades than Hillary. Thalia was top of our class and K.C. and Penny were second and third. Hillary came in twelfth with Sarah in thirteenth, the Hunters taking the top eleven positions. After that, Hillary and Sarah hated them and did everything they could to sabotage them. They couldn't stand the idea of anyone one upping them; though the Hunters never retaliated. In fact, they acted like they couldn't care less about what the other girls thought of them.

The only other people that hated them were the jocks. The jocks were constantly flirting with them and wouldn't give up, even after getting insulted daily. One day, the Hunters snapped…

I was walking along the track after school, lost in my thoughts. I'd had five tests today and I had three more tomorrow, plus my parents and my sister were fighting at home. All in all, I was extremely stressed.

Anyhow, I was walking along the track and attempting to memorize a poem for my English class when Thalia walked up to me. The other Hunters were close behind her though they pretty much ignored me except for K.C. who gave me a small smile.

"Hey Ren," Thalia greets me.

"Hey Thalia. What's up?" I reply.

"We were wondering if there are any good archery ranges nearby," Thalia answers casually. Archery ranges? I think to myself. Why on Earth would they want to visit an archery range. Well, I mean besides the obvious. I wonder if they're any good…

"I don't know of any," I admit. "But I've never really looked."

"It's fine," Thalia assures me. "We'll find one."

Just then, the captain of the basketball team walks up to us. His name is Brent Hollindred and he is downright evil. He has three girlfriends currently, I think. He's slept with half the school and bullies the other half. I hate him.

"Hello Thalia," Brent flirts. He's wearing a leather jacket, but no shirt and you can see his six pack. His light blonde hair is styled in spikes and his hazel eyes roam Thalia's body. Thalia scrunches up her nose as five other basketball team members, Rudy, Ralph, Paul, Isaiah and Malachi, walk up. They stand in a 'V' behind Brent and sneer at Thalia.

"What do you want Hollindred?" Thalia snaps. The Hunters are inching closer to us and glare at the jocks.

"You, me, my house this Friday," Brent announces as if it's the best thing ever. "My parents aren't home and I know where they keep the liquor."

"Hmmm…" Thalia pretends to contemplate the offer. "How about… Never."

"Ooh, playing hard to get," Brent sidles up closer. "I like that." He purrs. He places a hand on Thalia's shoulder and she tenses up. A minute later, Brent is on the ground with a bloody nose. Thalia has her knee on his chest and is glowering at him.

"Never touch me again," she growls dangerously.

"You broke my nose!" Brent whines.

"You smacked my butt!" Thalia argues. "It was defense!" Rudy marches up to Thalia and shoves her off Brent. I don't know what happened next, but all of a sudden, there is a full out war. K.C. is fighting Rudy one-on-one and the other Hunters have teamed up against Brent's friends. Brent has gotten up and is fighting Thalia. I watch, mesmerized, as the Hunters beat the basketball players up and leave them in a heap on the ground.

The next day, the Hunters don't come back to school and I find a note in my locker:

Ren, sorry for not giving you a heads up, but we dropped out. We would've been expelled any way for beating up the jocks, so we just left. Hope to see you again soon! You're not that bad of a man.

Thalia

When Brent and his friends return to school a week later, they all have one broken arm, two black eyes, a broken nose, and scratches all along their bodies. For some reason, they can't remember what happened. But I do and when I saw Thalia three years later with her brother, cousins, and friend I congratulated her on a job well done.

And that's how I learned to not mess with the Hunters, ever.

Author's Note

So I started this yesterday, but didn't have time to finish it. It's not as long as I hoped, but I hope you enjoy it. Let me know!

I have a request: I love reviews, don't get me wrong, but I do not like it when people review and all they say is "Update". I want feedback on my story. I want to know if I can improve anything. If it is a month or two weeks after I last updated, then I wouldn't mind a reminder to update. Perhaps a "Please update! It's been (insert how long it's been since last update)". But please do not just say "Update". I don't mind if you add "Update soon please" at the end of a review, but PLEASE do not JUST say "update". Please?

Until next time,
