Injection two! Not much talking... :/ But we'll get to that :) Re-watching the episodes where they cure Crowley to make the next chapters good. Yay! Anyway, continue on. :D
An hour. That's how long Joanna had to wait. A whole hour of listening to Dean joke about and taunt her. She could barely stand it and there were times when she had only just refrained from hitting him; usually by Sam walking in and calming her down.
"Oh Joanna!" There it was; Dean calling out to her in that sing-song voice, never relenting.
"Shut up Dean!" She shouldn't have responded, after all it only goaded him on. But then, so did not responding. She couldn't win in this.
"Hey, Jo?" That was Sam and like every other time he had walked in during the past hour, Jo hurried to his side. Anything to ignore Dean for a little while. "He behaving?" Sam asked quietly, watching his brother who was trying to turn around to see them.
Jo grumbled, muttering under her breath before looking up at Sam, "He won't shut up." Her voice was almost whiny, like a child's.
"I can think of a few ways to shut me up!" Dean called to them, smirking and sending Jo a wink over his shoulder. She poked her tongue back at him and he chuckled, turning back to the front of his chair.
Sam laughed quietly, turning it into a cough when Jo glared at him. "Nothing…" He mumbled, glancing away. "Oh." He turned back and Jo noticed the take-away coffee cup and bag in his hand. "Just bringing you these; I got a case from Garth not too far from here." He shrugged as he handed over the food.
Inside the paper bag was a croissant and donut, both sprinkled with sugar. The coffee, when she took a sip of it, was really sweet. "Thanks Sam," She smiled, and reached up to give him a quick, one-armed hug.
"No problem," Sam shrugged and started to walk away.
"Hey Sam?" Jo called out and he stopped, looking back over his shoulder. It reminded her of when Dean had looked back over his shoulder, just moments before, even though Sam didn't have the anger or rage that his brother did. No, his face was just filled with endless sorrow.
"When are you coming back?" That question; Jo didn't want to be there, all alone and with no-one to scare away the demons, stuck with a madman. Sam shrugged again; he seemed to like doing that.
"No clue," And with one last concerned look at Joanna and Dean, Sam walked out the door.
"Left unattended. What do we do? What do we do? Alone again, naturally," Dean was singing again and when Jo turned to him and walked so she could see his face, he was smirking and watching her intently. "Alone again, naturally." He laughed and looked her up and down, watching as she spun the id bracelet around her wrist.
"What to do now that the adults are out, eh?" He smirked that smirk of his and Jo huffed, turning to the table set up at the far end of the church and putting the paper bag and coffee on its surface. "This is boring," Dean murmured, pursing his lips before sighing loudly. His head rocked back and he laughed loudly before looking back at Jo.
"So…" His head tilted and he watched the blonde, saw the way she stood and how, with a flick of her head, that golden, honey hair swept over her shoulders and down her back like a cascade of water.
Dean leaned forward as best as he could and Jo folded her arms, looking at him expectantly. He grinned before asking in a low, questioning voice, "What were you praying about?" His fanfiction green eyes twinkled merrily and there was a small curl to the corner of his lips.
"Why would I tell you?" Jo asked back, raising an eyebrow condescendingly. Dean leant back and shrugged his shoulders as best he could, the look on his face made him seem bored but Jo knew; she knew just how curious he was.
"You know the whole, might make me understand better and such." He raised an eyebrow as well, and it arched perfectly. "Feelings, whatnot." He scoffed and looked away before rolling his head back to look at her.
"So when do I get my next happy injection?" He smirked and she shook her head, looking at the watch Sam had left behind for her. Whatever she read, she didn't tell him but the way she started preparing the next syringe told him all he needed to know.
With a wince, Joanna took the pure blood from her body and wiped away the tiny fleck of sanguine that bubbled up upon her fair skin. She turned to Dean, holding the syringe carefully as though it held a toxin.
With precise steps she walked over to Dean and put one petite hand to the side of his face, turning it to show his neck. There was already a small pinprick in the skin, surrounded by a drop of blood. Jo itched to wipe it away but refrained, instead pressing the needle to a spot beside it.
She pressed down and the metal sunk in, vanishing into the flesh. Dean let out a tiny exhale of air that one could argue was a hiss of pain as the plunger depressed and the pure rushed to meet the impure.
Jo took out the needle and her thumb unwittingly pressed for a moment to the slight wound, stemming the blood. With a downward glance, to where Dean's black eyes watched her from the corner of his eye socket, she pulled away.
As she started to put away the syringe, Dean shook his head vigorously and grinned that Cheshire grin.
"Oh this is much better! Purity's a bit much… So irritating. But the compassion, I can feel the righteousness surging!" Jo caught him grinning at her from the corner of her eye and he winked. "Hey, you wanna have a rousing discussion about truth, honour, patriotism? God bless America!"
He stopped there, happy, and started his humming again; a song that she couldn't recognise as he was so quiet. With an eye roll, Jo turned away. She'd have to talk to Sam about revoking Dean's quote privileges. When both of the brothers came back, though.
So did you like? I liked. And the Thor 2; World of Darkness quote at the end :D Love it. Anywho. We've got work to do. Goodbye.
