Disclaimer: I OWN NOTHING SO LEAVE ME ALONE!
Meg POV
Three days have passed since the opera ghost has awoken. I never imagined him to be quite this irritable but I should have probably guessed due to his mischievous trick to Carlotta and some of the other ballerinas. Mother and Nadir have him restricted to bed rest until he regained enough strength to stand and walk for a short period of time. He is still weak due to the poison and he a slight fever continues to plague him. I guess he is also licking his wounds after the tongue lashing he got from Nadir and maman. I tend to get out of their way but I heard a few words here and there that may or may not consisted of "You utter idiot!" "Self-centered bastard!" "How stupid can you be?!" and a few other sentences that wil not be very lady-like of me to repeat.
Christine is spending as much time she could in the phantom's bedside. It's still hard to believe that Christine's 'Angel of Music 'turned out to be a man whom turned out to be the phantom who turned uot to be my surrogate uncle! It's very confusing and mildly disturbing.
To tell you the truth, I feel a little bit left out. Forgotten.
But it all changed last night though.
It was late and I couldn't sleep. uncle Nadir and maman managed to get Christine to spend the night in her quarters and I managed to get myself the the room of the dreaded opera ghost. He looked like he was sleeping though a little troubled. He had his mask on. Wether for his sake or the others I don't know. I edged closer to his bedside. My hand unconsciously reached for his arm until like a snake, it reached up and grabbed mine!
I gave a startled cry but managed to calm down. He gasped and immediately let go of my arm, I rubbed it with my other hand. Who knew he could grip so hard in hid condition?
"I'm sorry"
"It's alright."
There was an awkward silence between us and I was tempted to flee towards the safety of my room.
"Why are you still awake?" He said while attempting to sit up.
I tried to stop him but the look he sent me changed my mind and I proceeded to help him sit up.
"Glad to know I could still make someone obey me."
Was the opera ghost jesting? I must be dreaming.
"Maman and uncle Nadir were just worried." I wonder if my mouth was directly linked to my mind.
"Uncle Nadir?" He scoffed "Oh, that's right, They told me you and Christine knew about the presents."
Do my eyes deceive me or does he looked embarrassed? My mysterious insomnia must be doing wonders to my brain now!
"I think it was sweet."
I may have imagined it but I think I saw his face a slight shade of red until he cleared his throat.
"Aren't you afraid of me?"
"I was afraid of the phantom."
"But-"
I never thought I would ever in my life cut off the phantom mid sentence! Maybe I really need to go to sleep.
" I was afraid of him because of the tales Buquet told about him" He winced. "but now, I see he was no more than a kind man who is deeply in love."
"I just murdered someone little Meg. I also very well kidnapped your best friend at the night of her debut. You should feel a little bit resentment towards me, don't you think?"
"Uncle Nadir told us that he was caught in one of your traps. Regardless though I think he had it coming sooner or later. His debts were catching up to him and all the women he harassed, it was bound to happen. As for Christine, kidnapping would imply force and as she said to me, she came willingly."
He stayed silent and stared at his hands. He doesn't look like the imposing figure of the opera ghost at all.
"She doesn't hate you."
His eyes widened and he glared at me. if looks could kill, I would have been turned to ashes five seconds ago.
"Do not speak of what you don't know girl!" He snarled.
"She may have feared you but she could never bring herself to hate you. You of all people should know that!"
He muttered something I couldn't comprehend but he seemed more depressed after.
"I need to rest or else your maman would have my head, you should retire as well"
I nodded at the unspoken dismissal.
"I'm sorry if I bothered you, sleep well…Uncle Erik."
Before I closed the door, I could have sworn I heard a familiar sentence.
"Sweet dreams my little ballerina."
xxXxx
"Uncle Ewik, do you think I could weally be a ballewina?"
"Of course little Meg. Why, I believe you danced before you could even walk."
"What if I couldn't? Would you be mad at me?"
"My little Meg, I have no doubts that you would be an excellent ballerina maybe even the Prima Ballerina! But you should know one thing, Whatever happens, I will be proud of you."
"I love you Uncle Ewik!"
"I love you too. Now go to sleep. Sweet dreams my little ballerina."

I woke up feeling refreshed in the morning. I helped Maman prepare breakfast and we all sat down to eat. Christine took an extra bowl and poured some broth into it and went to uncle Erik's room.
The three of us didn't speak as if nothing happened. There was an awkward silence. It seems to be a companion who is always present when it involves the five of us.
As I started to wash the dishes I heard Nadir's voice call.
"we're running low on supplies, I'm heading to the market. Stay alert!"
Then he was gone.
It was odd to say the least. It almost feels normal, domestic.
I smiled and proceeded to wash the dishes.

AN: Uhm hello! I'm sorry for the very long wait. My friend got pissed at me so she sent me half way flying across the globe so I had to walk back home. :D
Not much action here, the next chapter would have some E/C though I promise!
Did you like Meg's chapter. It's long overdue I know and I guess some of you may have thought I abandoned it all altogether but I'm slowly but surely working on it.
Thanks for all of those who reviewed and added my story to their alert lists!
Your obedient friend,
E.M.
