Chapter 14: Love Land Part 2Tensions and Trust

Location: Love Land, in the Love Land Inn, Room 424

Time: 7:30 A.M.

Rays of sunshine peaks in from the window into the room. Banjo was still in bed snoring, but Kazooie was already awake and out of the backpack. She looks at the clock on the wall above Banjo's head, and remembers that breakfast has already started. She walks over to the bed Banjo was sleeping on, but as she was about to wake Banjo up, an idea began to pop up in her mind. A mischievous one. She jumps up on the bed post, facing Banjo. She clears her throat, and takes a deep breath. And then…

Kazooie: "SQUAWK!"

Banjo: "GAH!"

Banjo was immediately awaken from Kazooie's wake-up call and fell out of the bed with a thud. He moaned out of slight pain and dizziness, and rubbed his head. Kazooie comes up to him and smiled.

Kazooie: "Morning, Sleepyhead."

Banjo sighed and chuckled a little, knowing how Kazooie is more of a morning person than he is and would always find a way to get him out of bed. He gets up off the floor and yawned. He looks behind him, checking the clock.

Banjo: "D'oh… is it time to go already?"

Kazooie: "Yep! Come on then! I don't wanna miss breakfast!"

She walks to the coat hanger and flies into Banjo's backpack. Banjo rubs his eyes and picks up his pack, bringing Kazooie along. He locks the door and walked though the hallway to the elevator. He pushes the 'down' button and the elevator door opens. As he walks in, pushing the 'L' button, the doors close and moves down.

Banjo: "How are you, Kazooie?"

Kazooie: "Huh? Oh, er… I'm fine. Why do you ask?"

Banjo: "No reason. Just wanted to know if you slept well."

Kazooie: "Uh, yeah… I slept pretty good."

Banjo: "Alright then."

Kazooie was a little confused as to why Banjo would suddenly ask her how she is. Was there something on his mind? Before Kazooie could ask, the elevator doors already opened and Banjo stepped out.

Location: Love Land, in the Love Land Inn, 1st Floor

Time: 7:35 A.M.

Banjo and Kazooie are in the lobby and they see Kaleb was reading sign-ins on his clipboard and Faline was dusting the place. Kaleb soon noticed Banjo and Kazooie, and smiled.

Kaleb: "Good morning, our dear lovely lovers!"

Banjo and Kazooie just looked at them in silence, not smiling but not frowning either. They don't even bother correcting them, since it's only going to make them gush even more.

Faline: "Breakfast is just right around the corner, dearies!"

Faline points the pair to the same restaurant they had dinner in. Banjo walked in like last time. This time however, there were several changes. The tables were replaced with a more picnic themed tablecloths, and have a bouquet of mixed flowers. There were also now wooden chairs with red pillows for seats. There were also serving counters near the entrance instead of having waiters serve for you at your table.

Banjo and Kazooie can already see their friends are here. Klungo is sitting on the table right next to the kitchen, munching loud and fast on his bowl. Humba and Mumbo are at one of the serving counters, arguing over the last breakfast cereal of their choice—'Magic Munchies'.

Mumbo: "Mumbo get cereal! Was at counter first!"

Humba: "Mumbo wrong! Humba first at counter! Ran here faster than rubbish shaman!"

They continued their argument without taking notice of Banjo and Kazooie. Bottles then came up to the bear and bird, with a full food tray, and he greets them.

Bottles: "Morning, Banjo!"

Banjo: "Hey, Bottles! So, is Mumbo and Humba—"

Bottles: "Ugh, please don't talk to me about those two. They've been at it for quite some time now. By the way, L.O.G. wants to see you two after breakfast. He says he'll be right at the entrance to the fairground."

Banjo: "Oh, okay. Thanks, Bottles!"

Bottles: "Now you'll excuse me, I'm just gonna go eat somewhere else, away from those bickering shamans."

Bottles left through the restaurant doors. Banjo and Kazooie looked back from their left at Humba and Mumbo. They seem like they won't stop for a while.

Kazooie: "Well, that counter seems to be preoccupied by them. Let's find another one, Banjo!"

Banjo: "Alright, sure."

Banjo turned right to another food counter. He picks up a tray and takes some seed buns, a small box of 'Honeycomb Oats', a carton of milk, some napkins, and a bowl and spoon.

Banjo: "Is this enough seed buns for you, Kazooie?"

Kazooie looks over Banjo's shoulder, and sees three of them in his tray.

Kazooie: "Yeah, that's good. Thanks."

Banjo: "Alright then. What drink would you like?"

Banjo gestures to the drink containers on his left. There are three of them, each containing a different beverage. One has water, another has lemonade (pink lemonade at that!), and the last one has orange juice. Kazooie takes a moment to think.

Kazooie: "How about… some orange juice?"

Banjo: "Okay, me too!"

Banjo grabs two plastic cups and two straws. He fills the cups with orange juice, and places the straws in each cup. He walks to a table close to the window and puts his tray down. He looks back at Kazooie.

Banjo: "Why don't you have a seat, Kazooie? It'll be more comfortable."

Kazooie: "Uh… okay, if you say so, Banjo…"

She flies out of the backpack and walks to the chair on the opposite side of Banjo. He takes a seat, unfolds one of his napkins, and places the seed buns on top of it. He hands her the buns and her drink. Banjo then prepares to eat his cereal. Kazooie looks at him oddly. His behavior seems a bit different than before.

Kazooie (thinking): "What's going on? Banjo… he's nicer than usual. I mean he's generally a nice guy and all, but this… something about him feels… different…"

Kazooie was a bit reluctant to ask Banjo, but her curiosity was beginning to bother her.

Kazooie: "Banjo?"

Banjo was about to take a first bite on his cereal, but after Kazooie spoke and he stopped and put down his spoon.

Banjo: "Yes, Kazooie?"

Kazooie: "I… uh… are you okay?"

Banjo: "Huh?"

Kazooie: "It's just… you're being nice to me. Like, more nicer than how you are to me. I mean I appreciate the hospitality, but… I was just wondering if there was something on your mind…"

Banjo just shrugged and smiled at her.

Banjo: "I just want my best friend to enjoy herself and have a good time, that's all."

For a moment, Kazooie thought she felt her heart had skipped a beat. She looked away for a bit.

Kazooie (stammering): "O-Oh… o… okay…"

Banjo stopped smiling the moment she turned her head, worried he might have said something wrong.

Banjo: "What's wrong? Am I embarrassing you?"

Kazooie looks back at Banjo again. Their eyes met and Kazooie realizes Banjo is extremely concerned for her.

Kazooie (stammering): "No-no-no! I… I was just… just curious… that's all… t-thank you, Banjo…"

She began to take the first seed bun with her beak and started to eat. Banjo smiled again in relieve and went back to eating his cereal. But Kazooie was still feeling a little weird after what Banjo had said to her. She wasn't sure what to make of from his generous tone of his words. She can feel her whole body shaking and the back of her tail feathers standing up while she's chewing her breakfast.

Kazooie (thinking): "What should I do? Am I just gonna let this pass? Should I just go along with whatever Banjo is doing? *sigh* I don't know… I'll just eat up my food and forget about it"

When she was done with her breakfast, she looked across the table at Banjo. He finished his cereal, but his cup was not empty. Instead of sipping his drink, Banjo was looking out the window next to him. Kazooie did the same, wondering what he was looking at. They see Kaleb and Faline outside of their fairground, already getting ready for the annual treasure hunt, as they set up their stage platform and a couple of chairs.

Banjo: "We should get going."

Kazooie: "Yeah…"

Banjo finishes what's left of his drink, places all disposable items in the tray, and gets out of the chair. Kazooie jumps from the table into Banjo's backpack in less than a second, with the top half of herself not inside as usual. He heads towards the nearest trash bin, which just so happens to be close to the restaurant doors, and throws away his tray and other rubbish. Banjo and Kazooie proceed to head outside of the inn.

Location: Love Land, near the fairground

Time: 9:50 A.M.

There were plenty of people gathering around in seats in front of the stage platform. Banjo and Kazooie arrived at the entrance to the fairground, where they encounter the Lord of Games.

L.O.G.: "Ah, you've arrived at last!"

Banjo: "Morning, Mr. L.O.G.! You wanted to see us?"

L.O.G.: "Yes, I did. As you can see behind me, this is where your treasure hunt will start."

From behind L.O.G., there is the Love Land Amusement Park. No one is in any of the rides or playing any of the games.

L.O.G.: "From what I've gathered from the generous canine and feline couple, this is where the hunt will start. The both of you will be able to participate in mechanical rides and the pleasure of miscellaneous entertainment."

Banjo: "Oh boy!"

Banjo jumps up and down in excitement, but only for a short time, knowing that he's shaking Kazooie. He looks up at her, smiling.

Banjo: "Kazooie, we can go try out the Ferris wheel and see the view below us!"

Kazooie smiled back at Banjo.

Kazooie: "I guess that's something worth trying."

L.O.G.: "Let's not get too excited. There's still more to this event than here at this pleasure ground. You will also get to travel to other locations, such as the central town."

Banjo: "Oh, they have a town here? How nice! I wonder what sort of shops they have?"

Kazooie: "I don't know, Banjo. Seeing as how this world is all lovey-dovey and stuff, it might be worse than Showdown Town."

L.O.G.: "In any case, the two of you should find your seats at the gathering."

L.O.G. gestures to his left, where the couples are gathered in front of the stage platform. Kaleb and Faline are already on stage, with the sound of microphone feedback heard.

Banjo: "Alright then! Thanks again, Mr. L.O.G.!"

Banjo waves 'bye-bye' at the Lord of Games and heads to the nearest chair. Most of the chairs seemed to be taken. Luckily, there was one empty chair at the front row in the middle, so Banjo chose to sit there. On his left was a young mice couple, and on his right was an elderly turtle couple. Faline was the first to speak.

Faline: "Hello, dearies! And welcome to our annual treasure hunt!"

Kaleb: "We're very anxious for this event! This year, we'll provide you lovelies our finest prizes yet! Like our previous hunts, we will provide you all notes that contain riddles and hints on where you need to go or what to search."

Faline: "There are a few rules to follow however. The first rule is to always work together with your partner. Remember, it's important for a happy couple to always support each other!"

Kazooie looks down at Banjo, but he doesn't look back at her. She blushed a little after hearing the words 'happy couple', which is what she and Banjo are attending as such.

Kaleb: "The second rule is to don't ask for any help from other couples. We should all be fair and any help from one who's not your partner is considered cheating!"

Faline: "And last but not least, the third rule—don't get into fights!"

Kaleb: "Of course, this year we are aware of the fact that a certain individual can make following the last rule quite difficult. We understand that this may cause problems for all of us in this event."

Faline: "Yes, indeed. But that doesn't mean we can let this fiend ruin our special day! So we ask that if you have seen or know about the villain's whereabouts, please don't hesitate to warn us! We will provide certain measures to make sure he doesn't wreak havoc on our fair land!"

Banjo tilted his head in confusion for a moment after that last sentence.

Banjo: "Certain measures? Do they also work as police officers?"

Kazooie: "More like security guards, perhaps."

Kaleb: "And so! Without further ado, let the treasure hunt begin!"

Faline brings out a basket full of notes marked with letters 'K&F', and begins to throw out all of them at the audience. Everyone excitedly grabs one note from the air. Kazooie manages to take one with her beak, and gives it to Banjo.

Banjo: "Thanks, Kazooie! Let's see now…"

Banjo unfolds the first note and reads.

Banjo (reading): "I turn everything around, but I cannot move. When you see me, you see you! What am I?"

Kazooie: "Hmm… Let's go to the fair, and see if we can find whatever it is we're looking for!"

And so, Banjo and Kazooie gets through the fairground entrance in their first step of the annual treasure hunt event.

Location: Love Land, in the center area of the fairground

Time: 10:10 A.M.

There were couples already searching the amusement park. Around Banjo and Kazooie, there were dart games, water gun shooting games, and much more. Banjo looks at the note again, scratching his head.

Banjo: "D'oh… I'm not sure what the answer is…"

Kazooie: "Hold on! I think I do! Go that way!"

Kazooie points to the right, at the pink and purple striped tent just yards away. Banjo follows her direction and arrives at the entryway of that tent. A sign next to it reads 'Hall of Mirrors'.

Banjo: "Mirrors?"

Kazooie: "The note said that when you see it, you see yourself, so that should mean that it's a mirror! In other words, we should find a place with lots of mirrors, which we did!"

Banjo: "Oh, I get it!"

And so, Banjo and Kazooie enters the tent and finds themselves looking around at mirrors of different shapes and sizes.

Banjo: "Wow! Look at all these multiple us!"

Banjo reaches out a hand at one of the mirrors shaped like a regular door. The moment he touched it however, the mirror swirls and both Banjo & Kazooie enters through. Banjo falls down on his stomach, and Kazooie falls out of the backpack, landing on her back. She gets up immediately, and looks back at Banjo, who has his hand on his head after that sudden occurrence with the mirror he touched.

Kazooie: "You okay, Banjo?"

Banjo sighed a little and gets up slowly, with his hand still on his head.

Banjo: "Yeah, fine. Just fine. Where are we?"

They both looked around and see that there are now mirrors the exact shape and size all around them in a circle. This gives Banjo an uncomfortable feeling.

Banjo: "Uh-oh… I think we're lost."

Kazooie: "Alright, let's not panic! Um…"

Kazooie looks down at the ground. Upon closer inspection, she finds the trail marks where both her and Banjo came from. She makes a marking labeled 'entry' and an up arrow above it.

Kazooie: "Okay, I've made a checkpoint so that we'll know how to get out when we're done with this place."

Banjo: "Wow… you're amazing, Kazooie…"

Banjo has that look of admiration in his eyes towards Kazooie. She was a bit startled by this and turned her head a little, hiding her blushing face.

Kazooie: "Er… it's no big deal, really… just gotta be calm and find solutions in situations, you know…?"

Banjo: "So, now what?"

Kazooie: "We should keep making checkpoints at which direction we're going next. Also, we shouldn't separate, since it might be bad if one of us gets stuck somewhere, and it might take too much time off our hands."

Banjo: "Okay then! Um… wait what's that?"

Banjo points at a mirror with something that sticks out of its side. He comes toward the mirror and pulls it out. It's a new note! With the same initials as the last one! Banjo begins to read.

Banjo (reading): "With three eyes and as black as night, I frequently knock down ten men with a single strike! What am I?"

Banjo looks at the note for a moment, and then snaps his fingers.

Banjo: "Oh! I know this one! It's a bowling ball!"

Kazooie: "Alright! So, I guess we're done with this place! Let's get outta here!"

Kazooie heads to the mirror she and Banjo previously went through. But as she touched the mirror, it doesn't budge.

Kazooie: "What the…"

She tries to push the mirror as hard as she can, but nothing happens.

Kazooie: "What's going on? We can't get out!?"

Banjo: "Wha—!?"

Banjo heads towards where Kazooie is and tries to force the mirror as well, but to no avail.

Banjo: "Oh no! What do we do!?"

Kazooie: "I guess we'll have to try a different mirror. Try touching every single one!"

And so Banjo and Kazooie tried each one while going in different directions. Banjo moves toward left and Kazooie moves toward right. About halfway through a circle of mirrors, Banjo found another mirror that moves. But before he could tell Kazooie, the mirror flips immediately and Banjo gets knocked in.

Banjo: "WHOA!"

Kazooie immediately turned around after hearing Banjo's cry and ran after him.

Kazooie: "Banjo!"

She charges at full speed until she breaks the mirror with her beak. She landed on her stomach on something soft. As she wakes up from the crash, she immediately froze. She was on top of Banjo! However, Banjo was in slight pain and have his eyes closed before realizing it.

Banjo (weakly): "Ow…"

Kazooie (nervously): "Ah! Banjo! Y-You okay?"

Even though Kazooie's heart was beating faster than a ticking time bomb ready to explode, her concern for her best friend was keeping herself from moving away. Banjo slowly opened his eyes, and then sees that Kazooie is on top of him. He was unable to move or speak to her as he gazes into her beautiful, emerald eyes for a long moment. Their heart beats are synchronized with each other and their eyes are linked with one another. It wasn't until Banjo realizes that he was staring rudely at her again and turns away slightly.

Banjo (nervously): "Y… Yes…"

Kazooie got off him right away after he answered. She backed away a little to give him space. She hold her wings to her already red face and had raging thoughts running through her head.

Kazooie (thinking): "What is wrong with me today!? Yesterday was bad enough, but this! This is too much for me to handle!"

Banjo moved from laying down to a sitting position. He was also blushing and in deep thought.

Banjo (thinking): "That… something like that happened yesterday as well… Me and Kazooie… having our bodies close together…"

Banjo shook his head violently, trying to get that thought out of his head and gets up. He looks around, being careful not to step on the broken glass that's scattered. He sees mirrors again, but this time there's also some sort of ring in the middle of the area. He goes toward where the ring is located, and brushes off the dirt and sand off. It's revealed to be a trap door!

Banjo: "Wow! Kazooie, look what I found!"

Kazooie was instantly off of her train of thoughts when she heard Banjo call her name. She sees Banjo opening the trap door and comes toward him.

Kazooie: "Well now, that's convenient."

She jumps and fits herself in Banjo's backpack.

Kazooie: "Let's see where this leads us!"

And so, Banjo and Kazooie go down through the trap door into an underground tunnel. They go through a straight path until a dead-end path stops them. As they looked up, there was another trap door above them. Kazooie reaches the door and pecks it with all her might. The door budged and Banjo reaches the door with his hands and pushed up.

Location: Love Land, in the center area of a town

Time: 10:40 A.M.

Banjo and Kazooie climbed up through the trap door, came out of a small alleyway, and arrived at what seems to be a small town. Shops and houses galore fill the village with all the love and happiness for the people of Love Land. Banjo walks around the town in awe and interest.

Banjo: "Wow! It's such a nice town!"

Kazooie: "Huh… it's not bad, actually. So what are we looking for again?"

Banjo: "Oh! Uh… I think something about a bowling ball…?"

Kazooie: "Oh yeah! A bowling alley! Where to find it though?"

Banjo and Kazooie looked around for a bowling alley. It took a few moments until a black feline gentleman in white walked past them carrying boxes of bowling balls with his dolly.

Kazooie: "Hey, Banjo! Let's follow him! Maybe he'll lead us to where we need to go!"

And so Banjo carefully follows the cat man for a few minutes until finally he enters in a shopping mall. It stands just about as high as the Love Land Inn, but also more wider. Banjo gets into the mall, and looks around for the feline gentleman. He spots him going into the elevator to the 5th floor. Banjo and Kazooie pursues and do the same thing. As they got out, they arrived at a large area full of crowded people. Luckily, Kazooie spots the man again and points the direction Banjo needs to go. They moved past through the crowd as best they can, and eventually made it out. Finally, Banjo sees an area titled 'Love for Bowling' and enters inside.

Banjo: "Whew! We made it!"

Kazooie: "Finally! Now to find another note…"

Banjo sees the cat man put down the dolly, along with the boxes. He places the boxes on the floor. But before he could place the last box, he tripped. The box opened and the bowling balls scattered on the floor near Banjo.

Banjo: "Oh! Here, let us help you!"

Black cat man: "Oh, thank you!"

Banjo helps the gentleman pick up the bowling balls and put them back in the box, while at the same time searches for the note. All bowling balls were of different colors, but still the same shape and sizes. Finally, from within of of the hole of the green ball, there was a note!

Banjo: "Found it!"

Banjo takes the note without the feline man noticing, and finishes helping with the bowling balls. The feline man thanks him again and left with the empty dolly to the storage room.

Kazooie: "Quick! Read the note, Banjo! Read it!"

Banjo unfolds the note and reads.

Banjo (reading): "You used to come to me for all sorts of information and knowledge before internet was born. I am the building with the most number of stories. What am I?"

Kazooie: "Most number of stories… before the internet… oh wait! I got it! The library!"

Banjo: "I think I remember seeing one next to the mall!"

Kazooie: "Alright let's go!"

Banjo dashed as his legs could out of the mall. He sees the library on his right, standing tall but not quite as tall as the mall, and runs to the entrance. Unlike other places they've been, this one was quiet. This is normal since it's a library. But there were still lots of people here. There were different sections of books, but the biggest of them all was the 'romance' section, which is not surprising considering the world they are in.

Banjo and Kazooie started searching there and looked around for interesting books. Both of them took out a different book. Banjo found a book titled 'More than Friends', and Kazooie found a book called 'Lovers of Different Species'. Both are a bit reluctant to open their books, but since the situation calls for it, they have no other choice. They flipped through pages, trying to find any more notes. About halfway through, Kazooie stopped when she sees a picture that surprised her. There was an artwork of a brown bear and a red robin lovingly holding each other for warmth and comfort. For a moment, Kazooie envisioned both her and Banjo in that picture. She immediately slammed the book close in embarrassment. Banjo was startled from the sound and looked back.

Banjo: "Kazooie?"

Kazooie (nervously): "I, uh… I was trying to kill a bug."

She puts away the book and goes through a facepalm gesture, as she tries to take her mind off of what just happened. Banjo was still flipping pages, until something fell out of the book. He picks it up and finds another note!

Banjo: "Yes! Let's see now…"

Instead of a riddle, the note now reads 'Congratulations on making it this far on the treasure hunt! Now your next step is to go show this note to the one running the Ferris wheel and he'll let you have a free ride! When you get inside, search under the seat cushions for the last note!'

Banjo: "Oh boy! A free ride!"

Kazooie: "Well, off to the Ferris wheel we go!"

Banjo puts away the book and quietly, but quickly leaves the library. As soon as he gets out, he sees the Ferris wheel at a distance and heads toward the amusement park.

Location: Love Land, in the Ferris wheel area of the fairground

Time: 11:15 A.M.

Banjo and Kazooie arrived and are in line for the Ferris wheel. After a few minutes, it was finally their turn.

Lowell: "Bonjour again!"

Banjo and Kazooie were surprised to see their waiter from last evening suddenly appearing as the Ferris wheel worker today.

Banjo: "Hello, Mr. Lowell! Didn't expect to see you here!"

Lowell: "Yes well, Madame Faline 'ad asked me to 'elp with some of zee entertainments here in the fairground. I assume you are 'ere for zee 'Ferris Wheel of Romance'?"

Banjo: "Ah yes, of course!"

Banjo got out the note and showed it to Lowell.

Lowell: "Tres bien, monsieur. Allow me to take you and your companion to your seats, s'il vous plait."

He leads Banjo and Kazooie to the heart-shaped cable car and opens the door for them. Banjo and Kazooie enters together. Lowell closes the door and operates the wheel. The Ferris wheel turns slowly at first, but then about halfway through, it stops. Banjo and Kazooie are at the highest point of the Ferris wheel. Both of them looked out the window in amazement.

Banjo: "Wow! I can see the whole land from up here!"

Kazooie: "This is a nice view, for a place that's all pinkish and stuff."

Banjo looks up at Kazooie and smiled.

Banjo: "I'm glad to be here, Kazooie. How about you?"

Kazooie looks down at Banjo, smiling back.

Kazooie: "Yeah, Banjo, I am. It's nice to be somewhere where you can take your mind off of things. Especially when you're not surrounded by a bunch of idiotic kooks or something."

Kazooie jumps out of the pack and sits down on one of the seats of the cable car. Banjo sees this and sits next to her. Both of them were silent, enjoying the quietness for a while. Kazooie then remembers last night, about what she wanted to ask Banjo. She thinks about it for a moment. Now should be a good time to ask, since they are alone. She turns toward Banjo.

Kazooie: "Banjo?"

Banjo: "Yes, Kazooie?"

Kazooie: "Um… do you think maybe… there's something we don't know about each other than we think?"

Banjo: "Hmm? What do you mean?"

Kazooie: "Well it's just… I think there may be something about us that we haven't known for a while."

Banjo looks at her with interest and thinks about it.

Banjo: "Well… I guess something does feel different."

The both of them were silent again, but this time they are facing each other. The atmosphere was beginning to get intense, as they get more nervous every second passing.

Banjo: "But you know… you're my friend, Kazooie. My best friend."

Kazooie: "And you're mine."

Banjo: "And best friends are always there for each other."

Kazooie: "Yeah…"

Banjo: "And… enjoy each other's company."

Kazooie: "R-Right…"

As they talk, Banjo's hand and Kazooie's wing starts to draw closer to each other. There was just a slight touch between them.

Banjo: "So… we can always trust each other, right?"

Kazooie: "…Yes, Banjo… I… I'm sure we can…"

After that last sentence, they fall into silence and gazed at each other's eyes. Unconsciously, as if they are under a spell, their faces drew closer. Their hearts pounded louder and harder than ever before. It felt like time had stopped for them.

Suddenly the Ferris wheel started moving again, bringing Banjo and Kazooie back to reality. Kazooie realized what had just happened and backed away from Banjo, removing her wing from Banjo's hand. She turned away from him, and covered her beak.

Banjo: "Kazooie?"

Kazooie did not respond, not even looking back at him. She was breathing heavily from under her wing, as her mind was being filled with raging thoughts.

Kazooie (thinking): "What—!? How—!? Why—!? Why did this happen!? How did it end up like this!? What do I do!? I can't—! I—!"

Banjo approaches closer to her and reaches out his hand to her.

Banjo: "Kazooie?"

He calls out her name again, and as he touches her, she jumps out of her seat. She immediately faces Banjo, who has a look of concern on his face.

Banjo: "Are you alright?"

Kazooie wasn't sure how to respond. She looks away for a moment, then looks outside.

Kazooie: "T-The note!"

Banjo: "Huh?"

Kazooie: "I… I just remembered we didn't get the last note!"

Banjo: "Oh! Oh, right! I forgot!"

Banjo gets up, and removes the cushions of the seats. While he's doing that, Kazooie sighed in relieve for the change in subject. Banjo finds the note just before the cable car they're on stops at the lowest point. He unfolds the note and inside, there was a ticket that was labeled 'Ticket per Prize' on it. Banjo reads the note.

Banjo (reading): "Thank you for playing the annual treasure hunt event! Come to the stage platform to present your ticket and collect the prize of your choice! Hurry before someone else gets the prize you want!"

Right after he was done reading, the cable car door opens with Lowell gesturing them to exit.

Lowell: "Merci beaucoup for riding zee 'Ferris Wheel of Romance'! Come back again soon!"

Kazooie goes back into Banjo's backpack and they both exited out of the Ferris wheel. They head out of the amusement park and back to the stage platform.

Location: Love Land, near the stage platform

Time: 11:30 A.M.

As Banjo and Kazooie arrived, there was a commotion of terror. There were screams of panic and everyone was going hysterical. The stage was even in a bit of despair, with small pieces scattered and broken chairs all around.

Kazooie: "What's going on?"

Banjo: "I'm not sure…"

Before they could talk to anyone, Kaleb comes up to them, with a look of fear on his face.

Kaleb: "Oh dear me! It's horrible!"

Banjo: "What's wrong, Kaleb? What's horrible?"

Kaleb: "My dearest wife! My fairest Faline! She's been catnapped!"

Banjo and Kazooie: "Wha—!?"

Kaleb: "But she's not the only thing that was stolen! Some of the prizes we had were taken as well!"

Banjo: "The prizes!? Does that mean—!?"

Kaleb: "Yes, that includes the golden jigsaw puzzle piece you both wanted. It was taken along with her!"

Both Banjo and Kazooie were speechless. Just when they thought they were so close to getting the jiggy, a thieving villain gets in their way. Soon afterwards, the Lord of Games and the other friends came up to Banjo and Kazooie.

L.O.G.: "I see you two made it back, although it's quite a bit late, don't you think?"

Kazooie: "Hey, we didn't hear you say that you wanted us to hurry, pixel face!"

Bottles: "Anyways, this is not a good scene here! Everyone's all panicky and stuff! All because of that Lovebreaker scoundrel!"

Mumbo: "Mole right! We find Lovebreaker! We stop him! We save people and get jiggy!"

Banjo: "But what should we do? Where do we even start to find the villain?"

Humba: "Ask dog man! Maybe he knows!"

They turn to Kaleb, who's still in a bit of a panic.

Banjo: "Kaleb, is there anything you know about where this Lovebreaker might be?"

Kaleb calms down for a bit and thinks for a few seconds.

Kaleb: "Um… oh hang on! Everyone wait here!"

He ran towards the stage to the table where some of the prizes are slightly broken or in devastation. He comes back with a note and hands it to Banjo.

Kaleb: "This, I believe, was left with me after Faline was taken."

Banjo reads the note out loud for everyone.

Banjo (reading): "To the one who held the treasure hunt, surrender your town to me or you'll never see your dear love again! Come to me personally at my lair on the cliff side of Love Land!"

Kazooie: "The cliff side? I don't think I've seen a cliff anywhere here in this world."

Kaleb: "It's actually pretty far from here, so that's why you couldn't see any."

Banjo: "How will we get there?"

Kaleb: "I have a van that can get all of us their in faster time."

Kaleb reaches into his pocket, and takes out a button. He presses it and a van zooms in from out of nowhere. As with the rest of the world, it's pink with red and white hearts around it. They all get inside, with Kaleb in the driver's seat, Banjo and Kazooie next to him, and the rest are at the back seats. Except for the Lord of Games.

L.O.G.: Very good! I shall stay here to calm the citizens and clean up the mess, while the rest of you put a stop to this madman!

Kaleb: "Alright! Thank you, sir! Let's go, everyone! We're coming for you, Faline, my love!"

And so, they drove off like lighting speed, with their destination set for the Lovebreaker's Lair.

Whew! This chapter was tough. It's more difficult than it looks when trying to build up Banjo and Kazooie's relationship while at the same time trying to keep them and all the others in character. In any case, hope you enjoyed this chapter and don't forget to review!
