"Ah…another for the hole." Aedan said out load, he was currently serving some customers from the other districts. Word had gotten around about a new place that had opened a medium size building that was hosted by a big, kind man. It was the type of place that you could come in after work for a few pints with the gang, or the type of place that you could take a wife to. The atmosphere was kind, usually, this night was different.
The patrons all seemed a little bit nervous, something that told Aedan to expect trouble. The bartender kept an eye out for suspicious characters, well at least until he heard a gunshot. It was barely audible over the hustle and bustle of the city, only a keen set of human ears could make it out. Aedan was one with those kinds of ears, years of fighting had both blessed him with great senses and cursed him with many complications to his personal health.
"The bloody hell was that?" He said as he stood up from his bar, worried about some sort of trouble. The cautious man looked outside his door, trying to figure out where the gunshot took place. He searched and searched, but he couldn't seem to find the source.
"Must be hearing things, getting to old for this." Aedan said as he closed the door, in the back of his mind, though, he didn't dream up the sound of a bullet. The man walked to the bar and was pouring out more shots when suddenly a man in white burst in.
"Anyone not working here, clear out!" The man who was obviously a thug ordered, which, to Aedans shock, every patron ran out. Apparently, this man was bad news.
"So, I hear you're new in town," The man said as he ran his hand along the bar, "You're new, and you haven't heard the rules. So I'll let this slid once, you don't own this bar. The man Torchwick does, you just work here. Every week, I'll come by and you pay me fifty percent of your profit, and we all walk away friends. Got it?"
The man was surprised when Aedan started laughing, and the man was furious.
"What? You never hear of Roman Torchwick? The man who…" The thug tried to get out before Aedan cut him off.
"I know who he is laddie, I just don't care," Aedan said through his laughs, "Tell your boss to jack off."
The thug was flabbergasted; he had never heard someone insult his boss so openly.
"You better pay up old man," The thug said with rage in his voice, "or me and a few other boys are gonna make you wish you never came into town."
"Bring em, I'll give them a reason find better employment than a greased up hooligan and his faithful band of ass kisser," Aedan said to the once again shocked face of Aedan, "Now, you want to buy something, or are you just gonna stand there like a idiot?"
The thug stormed out, already planning his revenge on the bartender.
"Fools didn't even ask my name," Aedan said as he reset the bar for the noon customers, "All well, gotta get me exercise somehow. I wonder what the gangs up to, classes start tomorrow."
Meanwhile in the Beacon cafeteria…
"How can you eat that?" Emily asked Rick, who was at this point eating his third serving of ham, which consisted of five thick slices each.
"Its ham, the only thing more precious is bacon," Rick said as he tore off another bite, "Besides, what about Ben over there. He's eaten more than this before."
"Don't pin this on me," Ben said as he casually took a bite of his tuna fish, "I only eat that much after a mission."
"Rick, didn't you once almost kill someone for taking your ham?" Richard asked as he took a swig of his can of soda.
"He did, wasn't it like…your older sister who took it?" Shaun asked, having already finished his meal.
"Pretty sure it was…I remember the story." Owen laughed out, much to Micca's disgust.
"Do you really have to talk with your mouth full?" The snake said as she sipped her cup of tea.
"Don't be too hard on him, I've done a lot worse!" Alex yelled as he fell out of his chair.
"You know, I would be surprised by that. If not for the fact that I pulled the chair." Rick burst out laughing, to Alex's as well.
"I hate you." The fox barely said, too focused on his return to his chair.
"Hey, Rick. We still all going shopping at two?" Emily asked, annoyed at the current events.
"Yep," Rick answered after a swallow of ham, "We have to pick up supplies: ammo, books, meat, whetstones, pencils, and some books."
"You got a list?" Ben asked, focused on finishing his sandwich.
"Yep, made it this morning." Rick replied, though his attention was suddenly focused on a table near the two teams. Ruby Rose had just slammed down a huge binder, and started a speech.
"I sure hope this doesn't involve explosions." Micca mumbled, hoping that something big wasn't going to happen.
"I do…" Alex answered, all ready for some adrenaline.
"As long as…" Rick started but was cut off by Yang saying, "I always start the day off with a Yang."
Rick stopped and picked up a knife, lining it up for a throw.
"No, none of that, shame on you." Richard said as he plucked the knife out of his hand. Rick settled down with grumbling about how bad that pun was, the speech continued on with Weiss getting up and talking about doing things as a team. Then the pie hit her in the face.
"Oh snap." Rick said as Weiss eyes darted to Nora, who was trying to direct suspicion to Ren.
"This should be good," Ben laughed out as he blocked a sudden apple to his face, "Rick…you getting involved?"
"Nah, I'm eating ham," Rick said as he took another bite, "Besides, what the worse thing they can do? Build a barricade?"
Roughly five seconds later…
"Come on!" Rick yelled as Nora was on top of a giant barricade made of tables, ROSA and EMBR's table was thankfully left untouched. Nora was currently singing that strange castle song, while Ruby yelled something about justice.
"Off with their heads!" Nora yelled as the jumped off the fort for combat.
"That escalated quickly." Rick commented as the two teams fought, the two groups of friends fighting with various foods. ROSA and EMBR just watched as they commented.
"Turkey gauntlets?" Ben yelled as Yang suddenly picked up a pair of turkeys as started punching with them.
"Oh, he's gonna feel that in the morning." Richard said as he winced at Jaune get slammed with said gauntlets.
"Dat bread…" Alex said in awe as Pyrrha and Blake fought with two pieces of French bread.
"Table slide!" Owen yelled as Ruby zoomed across the remaining tables on a tray, almost taking Rick's ham in the process.
"Did she just weaponize ketchup?" Emily asked, Weiss had literally just used ketchup to trip up Lie Ren.
"She's got a pole!" Shaun yelled as Nora suddenly jumped into the air and ripped out a metal flagpole, "Won't that ki…never mind."
Nora had stabbed a watermelon and was using it as a hammer head.
"Why is there a swordfish?!" Ben yelled as Weiss attempted to stab Nora with it.
"Could you be more subtle?" Micca yelled as she saw Ruby grab Weiss from certain doom of falling pillar.
"You know, I am starting to have concerns about the quality of the food we eat." Rick said as he took another bite, watching Ren and Yang fight with leeks and turkey.
"Homerun!" Shaun yelled as Nora suddenly launched Yang out the building.
"Dodge!" Ben yelled as Blake used a sausage to beat Nora into soda machine. One problem, it kinda came at ROSA and EMBR. All the teams dodged, except for Rick who just pulled up a knife and cut it.
"Why didn't you dodge?" Ben yelled from the floor.
"I am eating…HAM!" Rick yelled with such force that the table seemed to tremble.
"Soda grenades?" Richard yelled, he was witnessing Nora chucking those things at Blake.
"Now Pyrrha uses her semblance, blasts off Blake, and then…" Rick started, but was interrupted by his ham being hit by a stray soda can. He fixed Pyrrha with an evil glare then.
"You done goofed!" Rick yelled as he launched over the table, grabbing bread, and charging Pyrrha. The two exchanged blows; Pyrrha had no way of predicting the rage filled psychos' attacks, and was launched across the room. Rick was about to celebrate when he heard something, he turned to see that Ruby was charging JNPR…with all the cans, plates, and food with her.
"Oh crap." Rick mumbled as he stabbed the ground with his baguette, withstanding the violent storm of cafeteria. Ruby was pretty proud; she had just taken out JNPR by herself. Though she could have sworn she saw five people in her way…
"Hey!" Came a voice on other side of the rose, she turned to see Rick with two baguettes in his hands.
"I was in the middle of something!" Rick yelled as he leapt across the room to attack Ruby, who used her speed to grab her own baguette. The two started exchanging blows; Ruby clearly had the upper hand. Her speed was starting to trump Rick's rage, so he tried a different tactic. He broke free from the engagement and ran to a table, with Ruby following closely. He then ripped the table up, forcing Ruby to run up it.
This normally wouldn't be a problem, but Rick had an idea in store. As Ruby passed over him, he slammed a watermelon into her face. The redhead face was completely encased in melon; Rick didn't give her a chance to pull it off.
"Hey batta, batta, hey batta batta swing!" The teen yelled as he swung his baguette into the melon, sending her flying to the window side of the building. He landed in the other, the two locked eyes. They both started to charge and battle cry when the door to the cafeteria slammed open. Glynda came in with a growl; she quickly blocked some food and started to reassemble the cafeteria.
"Please, children…do not play with your food." She ordered, much the teams fear. Then Yang fell from the sky…onto Rick.
"A little more than two minutes, nice." Ben said over Ricks groans of agony.
"Sorry Rick." Yang said as she got up, revealing the broken teen.
"It's OK," Rick said in a barely audible voice, "Just never do that again."
"All right." Yang said with a laugh.
"Hey guys, it's two. Last one to the airship a rotten Beowolf!" Shaun yelled as he took off, followed by most of ROSA and EMBR, all except for Rick who was still dazed.
"What? Two o'clock? CRAP!" Rick yelled as he took off as well, leaving RWBY and JNPR laughing their asses off.
In the city of Vale…
Emerald was having a blast! She was literally stealing stuff left and right, picking pockets, and of course…she had gotten rid of Mercury for a while. Yep, things where good right now, and better yet…she had found her next mark. A group of students, all of whom wore a Beacon uniform, most of them where in a group but two where separated. One was looking at a merch booth, his hair covered by a fedora. The other was a little more intimidating; he was broader and had a thick dark beard.
Emerald knew to pull this off she had to time it perfectly, she waited until the bearded ones head was turned and stumbled into the fedora wearing one.
"Sorry!" She lied, quickly taking the money he had in his pocket.
"Hey, no problem," The teen said with a grin, "Things happen, you didn't break anything."
Emerald walked away, before turning around and reproaching the pair. She needed another distraction; the bearded one was looking at the merch as well. She closely observed him, making sure his eyes where off of her. She smiled as she approached, and she reached for his pockets…
Only to have her hand grabbed by the teen, he looked into her eyes and grinned. Emerald gasped, the teen had teeth.
"Nice try, but no cigar." He said as he shoved her hand away, Emerald quickly took off as soon as she could.
"Hey, Rick…you know that chick just stole your money, right?" The wolf chuckled to his companion.
"What?! Ah come on! Shaun, buy the thing while I find that chick." Rick said as he took of towards the direction of the girl.
Meanwhile…
Emerald was scared, that teen had just picked her out of nowhere. Better yet, she thought that he had sicced his friend on her. Oh well, at least she could outrun and outthink anyone. That's what she though until she heard a sickening scraping sound, Emerald had run into an alley that she thought was safe. Apparently the fedora had other ideas; he had a look of rage in his eyes. His axe scrapped against the wall, and in his other hand he carried a machete.
"So, you're the one that took my cash," the teen said to Emerald, who was suddenly paralyzed with fear, "Look just give it back and I walk away."
Emerald almost gave back the cash when suddenly a voice broke out, "Emerald!"
The thief turned to see that Mercury had come running down the alley, much to Emeralds thanks and annoyance.
"So, the master thief is caught in a net, classic," The gray haired teen walked with confidence, "What you too scared to ask for help?"
Emerald would've been furious at that comment, but she couldn't stop her fear of the teen from letting her speak.
"Look, buddy." The teen said with a calm voice, "This is between me and the girl, if she gives me back my money I'll walk away."
"Seriously? This is the guy who caught you?" Mercury asked Emerald, who still couldn't talk.
"Emerald?" Mercury asked again, this time showing a little concern. While he certainly didn't like her, she usually talked back. The teen that was with her turned to face Mercury, who got into a fighting stance.
"You don't want to do this, trust me." Fedora said, hoping to avoid a fight. Mercury answered with a kick, which fired a bullet at the stranger. Fedora dodged and charged the teen, only to get a roundhouse to the face. The teen went to his knees, and Mercury attempted to pop a cap in him. Attempted is a key word, as the opponent parried the leg to deflect the bullet.
Mercury flipped backwards to avoid the machete strike, and proceeded to launch a flurry of shots at his opponent. Fedora merely dodged the bullets and proceeded to charge down the alley, to which Mercury did a jump kick. Fedora merely countered and slammed his fist into Mercury's face, stunning the fighter as he fell to the ground. Mercury was quick to rise, and tried another roundhouse. This time, though, Fedora locked his weapon into Mercury's.
Mercury tried to loosen his foot, but the teen didn't let go. Rather than that he slammed his fist into Mercury's crotch, the teen cried out in pain but his opponent didn't let up. He grabbed the kickster and slammed him into the wall, knocking him out. His focus then turned to Emerald, who had just opened a door into a random building.
She slammed the door shut, and was thinking about her next move. The door would hold him for a little, but she needed a plan. Her thoughts went to the White Fang, they weren't far and they could…then she heard the revving. She quickly turned to the door, only to see that a chainsaw was sticking out of it. Emerald turned to try and escape but the door was blasted off its hinges. The thief fell as the individual came in, she felt that fear again.
He walked into the building, his eyes full of rage.
"Should have just returned the money," The teen said as he grabbed Emeralds wallet and took out his twenty lien, "Wow, that's lotta cash."
Emerald was shocked that the fear was gone, not only that…but the stranger threw her back her wallet.
"But…" Emerald began but was cut off by the laughter of the stranger.
"Oh, you though I was going to kill you? Nah, I don't roll like that." He said with a howl of laughter.
"Why would you come after me for only twenty lien? Isn't it a little much to try to hunt me down and…" Emerald started too asked before the teen cut her off.
"Didn't you see? They had Michaels heist for twenty! Do you know how hard it is to find that?!" The teen said as he offered her a hand, which she took.
"I know that we all have to get by and stealing is sometimes necessary, I just really wanted that video," The stranger began as he pulled her to her feet, "Anyway, now that that's done, I'm Rick. Rick Grimmes."
"Uhhh, Emerald…" The master thief replied, still in shock over the sudden kindness.
"So, who was your buddy?" Rick asked, looking back into the alley.
"He's not my buddy, his name is Mercury." Emerald said with contempt in her voice.
"Ah…tell him next time to not fight a dude with a machete and an axe," Rick said with a laugh, "Anyway, I gotta go. Nice to meet you and hope to see you again!"
And with that he took off, leaving Emerald to her lonesome.
A few hours later at the warehouse…
"What happened to you two?" Cinder said as she came down from her balcony, the pair had returned from the market and were annoying Roman.
"Yes, what happened to the kiddies?" Roman said with mock concern.
"We were attacked…by something." Mercury said with a shudder.
"What he means to say is that he got his ass kicked by a student of Beacon." Emerald said with a grin.
"Was it little red?" Roman said with a snicker, to which Emerald shook her head.
"No, it was someone named Rick Grimmes," Emerald replied, that name seemed to get a reaction from a few of the White Fang workers.
"Rick… that kid is still alive?" Cinder said with a smile, she had heard the name through her sources. He was the infamous Axman, and she often heard him mentioned.
"Excuse me…Did you say Rick Grimmes?" Said a White Faunas who had walked up, her hair was bright orange and her eyes slitted.
"Yes, I did…why?" Emerald asked, suddenly suspicious.
"Did he have someone named Micca Sol with him?" The girl with a threatening tone.
"Uh…yes, I think I heard that name mentioned." Emerald replied, to which Cinder suddenly took interest.
"I have heard that name…" She began as the White Fang cut her off.
"You should have…she betrayed the White Fang a few years back. She betrayed her people and her family; she is also a snake fauna." The girl replied with venom.
"How do you know so much about her?" Roman asked, a little skeptical.
"Of course I would know…I am her sister after all." The girl said with a grin.
