Miku: Yay! Track 14 is up!

Luka: Thank you so much for reading and reviewing!

Rin: You're what keep us going, so please keep it up!

Len: Elise-sensei does not own Vocaloid; she just writes stories about us. Enjoy!

I walked into my classroom with a spring in my step. Yesterday I had finally finished work with Kaito on his "Cantarella" MV, and he had treated me to dinner afterwards. So needless to say, I was in a pretty darn good mood!

Sitting down at my seat by the window, I could hear my classmates chattering around me and a couple walked up to me. "Hey Hatsune-san, you were out all of last week. Is work going well?"

"Yep!" I answered with a nod. "Sorry if I made you worry."

"Did you hear we're getting a new student today?" a female student asked.

My eyes widened at her words. "Really?! A new student?" I exclaimed, standing up suddenly which startled my classmates.

"Yes Hatsune-san, now settle down," Hiyama-sensei said from the doorway with an amused smile.

"Y-Yes, sensei!" I said with a flushed face, causing some laughter as I quietly sat down.

Once we had all settled down, Hiyama-sensei told us, "As you've probably already heard, a new student is joining our class today. Come on in!"

At sensei's urging, the door opened and I leaned forward in anticipation. This is so exciting! I hope it's who I think it is! I thought.

Sure enough, a girl with short blue hair, blue eyes and a light blue scarf walked into the classroom. She faced the class with a small smile and introduced herself. "Hello, my name is Kaiko Shion. Nice to meet you all!"

Suddenly, the class started chattering like crazy. "Wow! It's Kaito as a girl!"

"She's so cute!"

"She looks so cool!"

"What's with the scarf in summer?"

"I think I'm in love!"

"Hands off, she's mine!"

"Think she's Kaito's sister? Or cousin?"

"Omigawd, I've got a girl crush now!"

In spite of all this, Kaiko seemed to ignore them as her eyes suddenly lined up with mine. Smiling, she shot me a salute. "Yo, Hatsune-san!"

"Shion-san!" I cried, once again hopping out of my seat without thinking. "We're in the same class!"

"Awesome, right?" she replied with a grin. "And Kaiko-chan is fine."

"Oh, you two have met already?" Hiyama-sensei asked, looking back and forth between us.

"We ran into each other a while ago," Kaiko explained, apparently deciding not to mention that on the day we met, she technically wasn't supposed to be on campus.

"I see," sensei muttered, letting the subject drop. "Well, the seat behind Hatsune-san is empty, so you can sit there. Just try to behave yourselves!"

"Thanks, sensei," Kaiko said with a bow before walking over to her new desk and sitting down. "Ooh, right by the window. Perfect!"

"You like window seats?" I asked, glancing back and keeping my voice low as Hiyama-sensei gave the morning announcements.

Nodding, the blue-haired girl said, "Uh-huh, gives me an excuse to space out."

She was sleeping on the roof when I first found her. Something tells me she doesn't care much for class, I thought, wisely keeping it to myself.

"Don't worry, I'll try not to skip class too much," Kaiko said, almost as if she had read my mind.

By the time lunch came around, I was getting ready to head out to the chain-link fence when Kaiko tapped my shoulder. "Hey Hatsune-san, when is math class?"

Cocking an eyebrow, I answered, "Uh, it's the last period of the day. Why do you- Oh!" I cut myself off when I noticed the girl's blushing cheeks and my mind made the connection.

"What? Hiyama-sensei's hot," Kaiko said with a shrug.

"Expect some competition, Shion-san," Neru piped up, appearing in-between us. "Hiyama-sensei is pretty popular with the female students around here."

I made an annoyed face as Kaiko looked at the dark blonde girl. "And you are…?"

"Oh, where are my manners? I'm Neru Akita, president of the Kaito Shion fan club here at Hikari Gakuen," Neru said with a confident smile. "It's an honor to meet you, Shion-san."

"No, I don't have any candid photos of onii-chan," Kaiko said bluntly as she tried to get around Neru.

Laughing, Neru blocked my friend's path. "Oh don't worry, I wasn't going to ask you anything like that!"

"Good, then I'm going to lunch with Hatsune-san now," Kaiko said as she moved around the desk next to her. "C'mon, let's split!" Nodding, I followed her out of the classroom as a bewildered Neru watched us leave.

I couldn't help giggling. "Hee hee, nice one Kaiko-chan!"

"Thank you, thank you," the blue-haired girl said with an exaggerated bow. "So that was Neru Akita, eh?"

"Yeah, that's her," I grumbled with a sigh. "We haven't gotten along since middle school. I really don't know why she dislikes me so much."

"I think she's jealous that onii-chan's got the hots for you," Kaiko teased, which resulted in my face turning red and my fist hitting her arm.

"W-W-We don't know that for sure!" I shouted, causing her to laugh. Quickly changing the subject, I suggested, "Hey, do you wanna eat lunch with my friends? We always meet by the chain-link fence."

For some reason, Kaiko seemed a little stunned by the offer. "S-Sure!" she said with a small smile.

"Great! Follow me," I said as I led her to the fence. "By the way, you can call me Miku-chan if you want."

"Okay, Miku-chan," she replied quickly as we moved.

The twins and I had already made it to the fence and were waiting for Miku. It wasn't long before the teal-haired girl showed up. "Hello, Miku-san," I greeted before noticing her companion. "Ah, hello Shion-san!"

"Hi, Megurine-sempai," Kaiko replied as she sat down.

"Ooh, who's this Miku-nee?" Rin asked curiously.

Oh yeah, the twins haven't met her yet, I thought as Miku introduced them to each other.

"Rin-chan, Len-kun, this is Kaiko Shion, Kaito nii-chan's sister," she said.

"Nice to meet you!" Kaiko said before opening her bento lunch.

As Rin started asking Kaiko various questions, Len and Miku suddenly made eye contact. "Um… how is your day going, Len-kun?" Miku asked with a small smile.

"Meh, pretty uneventful," the male twin replied with a shrug. Ever since Len confessed to Miku about a week-and-a-half ago, things had been a little awkward to the point where he couldn't even look at her for a few days. Now he was at least talking to her again, so they were slowly getting back to normal… sort of.

Deciding to break the tension, I piped up, "Oh Miku-san, any new songs lately?"

Her eyes lit up. "As a matter of fact, I have been working on one!" She quickly pulled out her notebook and opened it while the rest of us leaned in to see her latest work. "My newest song 'Magnet' is all about forbidden love."

"Ooh, I like the sound of that!" Kaiko said, already looking pretty interested. "Huh, some of the verses are written in different colors. I'm guessing this is a duet?"

"Yeah, but I can't figure out who to ask to be my partner," Miku answered.

Leaning against the fence, the blue-haired girl said, "If you want my opinion, your partner should be a woman."

"Eh?!" the rest of us exclaimed. What exactly was going through that girl's head?!

"Think about it: it's a song about forbidden love," Kaiko explained. "There are a lot of people who are fascinated with same-sex couples, which to some could be considered forbidden. Sure it can apply to other types of couples, but the song will have a larger impact than if it's a heterosexual couple. And it can't be just any woman, either: she has to be your opposite, and at the same time be able to compliment your voice."

"She makes sense!" I muttered in fascination. "Now if only we could find someone like that…" My voice trailed off when I noticed Miku, Kaiko and the twins all staring at me. "…What?"

"Of course!" Miku exclaimed, grabbing my hand and staring purposefully into my eyes. "Luka nee-chan, will you be my partner?"

"Eh?!" I replied as my face flushed, embarrassed by her choice of words.

"M-Miku-nee, you realize that could be taken the wrong way," Len muttered, blushing up to his ears.

"Actually, sempai would be a perfect candidate," Kaiko said with a nod of approval. "But ultimately, it's your decision. What do you think?"

"Well, I…" I thought about it for a minute. I had actually never done a duet with Miku before, so it sounded like fun. Nodding, I answered, "Alright, I'll do it."

"Yay! Thanks, Luka nee-chan!" Miku cheered, hugging me tightly and pressing her face into my breasts. Normally I wouldn't mind, but considering the subject of the song I couldn't help blushing again.

I could hear Rin giggling at my reaction. "Hee hee, this is gonna be interesting, eh Len?"

"I'm not responding to that," he muttered. "You girls are nuts!" And that comment resulted in Rin and Kaiko bursting into laughter.

We didn't have work today, so Kaiko had suggested that Luka and I try to get into the spirit of the song by going on a date after school. To be honest I was a little nervous; I mean, sure Luka is my childhood friend and everything, but we've always hung out casually. This time, we had to try to act like a couple and Kaiko had even suggested that we kiss at some point. I've only kissed a guy once, I had never even thought about kissing a girl!

I was waiting for Luka in front of the school, and it didn't take long for her to show up. "Have you been waiting long?"

"No, not at all," I answered. "So, uh… what do you wanna do?"

"Hmm…" Luka tapped a finger to her chin as she thought. "Ah! Wanna get some takoyaki?"

"Ooh, that sounds good!" I replied, nodding eagerly. It seemed simple enough, and I had seen couples sharing takoyaki before. "C'mon, let's go!"

"Okay!" Luka said, following me down the sidewalk. After a minute of walking, Luka suddenly asked, "Um, do you want to hold hands?"

For some reason, I blushed a little. Is it normal for two girls to hold hands in public? I mean we're playing a couple, but… I quickly shook the thought out of my head. It should be fine! I mean, love is love, right? "S-Sure." And with that, Luka took my hand in hers and we continued walking hand-in-hand.

We managed to find a takoyaki stand and almost immediately, Luka offered to pay for the food. "It's okay Miku-san, I'll take care of it."

"Aw, thanks!" I told her. At that point I figured that Luka was trying to take on the "seme" role in the relationship. As we sat down on a bench, I couldn't help commenting, "That was really nice of you, Luka nee-chan. I've noticed you're becoming a bit more confident lately."

"You think so?" the older girl asked with a smile. "Well, I guess show business does that to you. I've even been able to talk to guys a little easier now."

"Wow, that's awesome! Way to go!" I praised before taking out a piece of takoyaki. "Here, Luka nee-chan. Say 'ah!'"

Luka's eyes widened before she let out a chuckle. "Okay. Ahhh~!" She ate the takoyaki right off the toothpick and smiled. "Mmm…"

We continued feeding each other until the box was empty before deciding to take a walk in the park. "Hey Luka nee-chan, have you ever kissed a girl?"

"Eh? Why do you ask?" the pinkette asked.

"W-Well, Kaiko-chan did tell us that we should kiss at some point," I reminded her, suddenly feeling nervous all over again. "I was just wondering if you had any idea of what it was like."

"Oh. Well, actually…" Luka glanced away as her cheeks turned red. "I wouldn't know. I've never been kissed before, not by a boy or a girl."

This caused me to stop in my tracks. My beautiful childhood friend had never been kissed?! "Ehhh?! Are you serious?!"

"M-Miku-san, you know I've never dated anyone, so of course I've never been kissed!" she reminded.

"T-That's true, but…" Before my retort could commence, I noticed someone dart behind a tree. "? Uh Luka nee-chan, do you get the feeling we're being followed?"

"Now that you mention it…" Luka muttered, glancing behind her when she heard bushes rustling.

Crouching down behind the nearest bush, I spoke into my walkie-talkie. "Moneypenny to 007, Moneypenny to 007. Do you read me? Over."

"Are code names really necessary? Over," Len's voice responded, and I had to try not to giggle. I just couldn't resist the James Bond references!

"I think they're getting suspicious," I told them. "I saw Luka-nee look in my direction. What's your status? Over."

"I'm behind a tree, I dunno if they've spotted me yet," he replied. "Rin, why are we doing this again?"

"Kaiko-sempai asked us to keep an eye on them, remember?" I reminded as quietly as I could.

"Yeah, but I'm pretty sure that didn't mean playing James Bond," Len retorted.

Ignoring him, I peeked out from my hiding place to see Miku and Luka walking again. "They're on the move. You're closer, can you tell what they're saying?"

"…They think they've got stalkers after them," Len informed me. "Should we abort?"

"Nah, let's stick around and see what they do," I answered with a mischievous grin.

"I'll say it again: you're nuts," my brother grumbled into the walkie.

"Hee hee, I'll take that as a compliment," I replied. "Moneypenny over and out." Cutting communication, I moved as quietly as I could behind Miku and Luka, trying not to get noticed.

"Luka nee-chan, what should we do?" Miku asked as we walked at a slightly faster pace than before. Her grip on my hand had tightened; she was scared at the idea of a stalker.

"Don't worry, I've got an idea," I told her, although to be honest I had just thought of it. "Come with me." Thinking quickly, I led the younger girl to a more secluded place in the park. Glancing around, I figured it was just us and the stalkers, and if Miku was okay with it, what I had in mind was the perfect way to scare them off.

"So what's the plan?" Miku asked, still looking around nervously.

Instead of answering, I pulled her close and gazed into her eyes. "Listen to me, Miku-san… In a minute, I'm going to kiss you." She opened her mouth to object, but I placed a finger to her lips. "It's the best way to chase off our stalkers, to make them believe that they don't stand a chance."

"B-But your first kiss…" the teal-haired girl muttered, glancing away with flushed cheeks.

I cupped Miku's cheek in my hand and turned her head to face me again. "You're my best friend Miku-san, and you know how loyal I am," I whispered. "If protecting you means I lose my first kiss to a girl, then so be it." I had seen enough romance movies to know what to do, but I gave the younger girl a reassuring wink.

"Luka nee-chan…" she whispered back with a smile before giving me a nod of approval. "Go ahead."

Channeling my recently-acquired acting skills, I made my voice as husky as possible. "Miku-san…" I muttered before pressing my lips against Miku's and wrapping my arms around her slim waist.

"Whoa… that escalated quickly," Rin commented via the walkie. "You're not getting a nosebleed, are you 007? Over."

"B-Baka!" I retorted, my face bright red thanks to what I just saw. Miku and Luka, two of my childhood friends (one of them being my former crush), were kissing! I knew it was just an act, but it didn't help my already-confused mind.

Ever since Miku rejected me, images kept appearing in my mind of me and Rin together not as siblings, but as a couple. I thought something was wrong with me, so I tried to block out the idea and act like nothing was wrong, but then the topic of forbidden love came up at lunch and I found that it was getting more and more difficult.

"…llo? Earth to Len!" Rin's voice cut in.

"Nothing!" I responded instinctively, saying it a little louder than I meant to and giving myself away.

Miku and Luka spotted me and both girls blushed. "L-Len-kun?!" they exclaimed as they quickly pulled away.

Realizing I was exposed, I pushed any of those strange thoughts to the back of my mind and gave the girls a sheepish grin. "Uh, heh heh… looks like I'm caught."

"Aw, nice going, Len!" Rin groaned as she too came out of hiding.

"Rin-chan, you too?!" Miku asked.

"Yeah, sorry we scared you guys," my sister apologized. "Kaiko-sempai told us to follow you. Things were going well until somebody couldn't handle the thought of two girls kissing!"

"Wha-! I can so handle it!" I argued.

"Cannot!"

"Can too!"

"Yeah? Then why's your face all red?"

"T-That's cuz I got caught first!"

"Len is a pervert~! Len is a pervert~!"

"You're one to talk! You were watching, too!"

"Pfft… HAHAHAHAHA!" Suddenly, Luka started laughing which stopped the argument. I couldn't tell if it was relief or the hilarity of the situation that caused it, but it was certainly the loudest laugh we had ever heard out of Luka.

"Uh, are you okay Luka-nee?" Rin asked, cocking an eyebrow.

"Ha ha… sorry," the pinkette answered, wiping a tear from her eye while still clutching her side. "I'm just… I'm glad it was you two and not a stalker!"

"Hee hee, same here!" Miku giggled, resulting in me and Rin joining in on the laughter. Needless to say, today was one crazy-ass day.

"Alright, excellent work you two!" Gumi told me and Luka as we exited the recording booth the next day. "You two work really well together."

"Thanks, Gumi-chan!" I said before grabbing a water bottle and taking a swig from it.

Before we left, Gumi stopped us by saying, "Hey, if you don't mind my asking… What was it like kissing a girl?"

Cue two blushing Vocaloids. "Uhhh… SeeyoutomorrowGumi-chan!" I blurted out before dashing out of the room.

"Bye, Gumi-san!" Luka added before running after me. I later learned that Gumi was snickering to herself after we were gone.

Once we were outside, we ran into Kaiko. "Yo! How'd it go?"

Catching my breath, I took a minute to answer. "Recording went great! And yesterday's date was pretty fun, too."

"Although I never thought I'd give my first kiss to Miku-san," Luka commented.

"Omigosh, you two actually kissed?!" Kaiko asked, her eyes widening in surprise. "I was joking when I said that!"

"…EHHH?!" Luka and I exclaimed before we started chasing a laughing Kaiko around the lobby.

Next time…

Len: Hey Kaito-san.

Kaito: Hmm?

Len: Have you ever fallen in love with someone?

Kaito: I think everyone has at some point.

Len: Well, what if your love was considered wrong?

Kaito: Eh? Am I missing something?

Next time: Track 15 – Butterfly On Your Right Shoulder
