Clary could feel herself going in and out of consciousness. She could feel herself in Jace's arms, then suddenly people were yelling and rustling, then she was lying down on something. She heard more yelling and then more rustling but she couldn't get herself to open her eyes. She felt like she was in a bubble, where she could faintly hear what was going on but she felt like she was closed out and something was keeping her from getting back on the outside. She wanted to say something or do something to let everyone know that she's okay, but all she could do was lay there and partially listen.

"Jace seriously, you need to calm down."

"Izzy do not tell me to calm down."

She put her hand on his knee in an effort to stop it's shaking, "Fine be freaked out, I don't care just stop fidgeting so much you're making me ansty."

Jace clenched his fist and glared at Isabelle, "Oh Gee Isabelle, I am so sorry that my being nervous due to the fact that MY GIRLFRIEND IS IN THE HOSPITAL IS MAKING YOU UPSET. PLEASE FORGIVE ME!"

"Jace lower your voice," Maryse said while grabbing his hand, "don't worry Clary will be fine. She's a tough girl and your father said that as soon as they find out what's wrong he'll let us know." She started to rub his back soothingly.

Jace was thankful that his father was working the night shift tonight, he immediately took Clary to the back and promised to tell Jace everything as soon as he found out what was wrong. Jace then called Maryse and Alec and they arrived minutes later. Simon came too-he was hanging out with Alec-and now they all sat in the waiting room and Jace couldn't stop fidgeting. He hated hospitals, the last time he was in one was the night he found out his parents had died. He did not have good experiences with hospitals and all he wanted to do was hear that Clary was alright and that they could go home. But unfortunately that wasn't the case and now he had to spend his Friday night-well technically Saturday since it's now 3 AM-sitting in a hospital waiting room praying that his girlfriend is alright.

Just then a family of four walked in, a man and woman and a young girl and boy. The girl looked like she was about eight years old and the boy about three. Jace realized who it was as soon as he spoke, "I'm here for my sister, Clarissa Fray." Clary hardly ever talked about her brother but after looking at him for a little Jace could tell they were related. Although Jon's blond hair and tall and muscular build was very different from Clary's red headed tiny body, looking closely at them the relation was clear and you could tell they were siblings.

"I'll be right back," Simon muttered and got up and headed towards Jonathan. Jace could tell by the way Jonathan was talking that he wasn't getting the answers he wanted to hear.

"Please just take a se-" The nurse said trying to calm down Jonathan.

"Take a seat?" Jonathan nearly yelled, "I get a call in the middle of the night saying that my sister is in the hospital and nobody can even tell me what's going on with her."

The woman now holding the boy said, "I told you coming here would be pointless and that we should just wait at ho-"

"You know what Jamie? I'm sorry that I can't just go to sleep and pretend nothing happened when I find out my sister is unconscious and in the hospital okay? If you want to go home fine I don't care but I am not going anywhere until I know that Clary's okay." Jamie rolled her eyes and went and sat down across from Jace.

The little girl was tapping on Jonathan's leg, "Daddy I'm scared, is Aunt Clary gonna be okay?" She sniffled like she was holding back tears.

Jon picked her up and gave her a kiss on the cheek, "Yes dear don't worry Clary is going to be fine," he then turned to Simon as the girl nuzzed into her father, "where the hell is he?"

Simon just shrugged, "I called him and he said he was coming, but that was hours ago."

"Fucking typical," Jonathan muttered.

"Jonathan language," Jamie scolded from her seat, "can you please just sit down and wait; pacing around and cursing is going to do absolutely nothing."

Jonathan rolled his eyes but then went and sat down next to his wife, he then looked at the Lightwoods, "Sorry about that."

"Oh please don't worry about it, this is very stressful for all of us," Maryse responded with a smile.

Simon took his seat next to Alec when Jonathan asked confused, "Are you all here for Clary?"

When they all nodded Jonathan looked surprised and muttered a quick wow before saying, "Well I'm Jonathan, Clary's brother. I'd shake your hand but," he nodded towards his daughter before saying, "this is my wife Jamie and my children Austin and Lily."

"I am Maryse Lightwood and this is Alec, Jace, and Isabelle my children and I assume you already know Simon."

Jon nodded before looking at Jace, "Ah yes, the boyfriend. Clary told me about you."

"Good things I hope," Jace spoke up.

"Would you still be alive right now if they were bad?" Jon smirked.

Jace smiled and said, "Good point," thankful for the slight relief of tension.

"So what exactly do we know?" Jonathan asked shaking his leg.

"She kept feeling these pains in her chest but kept saying she was fine but on the car ride home she passed out," Jace explained.

"Pains from what?"

"From her lung collapse." Everybody stood up and turned towards Mr. Lightwood. He was dressed in all scrubs and looked completely exhausted.

"What do you mean her lung collapse?" Alec asked.

"A collapsed lung. Occurs when air escapes from the lung and fills up the space outside of the lung, inside the chest."

"That sounds so serious," Maryse asked suddenly very worried.

"It is, but fortunately it wasn't as serious for Clary. The fracture in her rib isn't too bad. After giving her extra oxygen she started responding normally, and simply must rest."

"What rib fracture?" Jonathan jumped in.

"Well I was hoping you could tell me that. Clary's body is filled with multiple bruises, the biggest one being on her right side right by her rib. It appears she was kicked in the side and it caused slight damage to the rib causing her lungs to collapse."

"Who could possibly kick her so hard that it would cause rib fracture?" Isabelle asked pissed off.

Simon suddenly snapped his fingers and said, "It's the art program she just joined. In order to raise money they decided to play soccer events and that's where all the bruises are from. And at practice the other day she was knocked down and one of the girls missed the ball and accidently kicked Clary in the ribs!"

"How do you accidently kick someone in the ribs?" Jamie asked from her seat gently rocking Austin.

Simon just shrugged but Jace wasn't convinced, "Why wouldn't she tell me?"

"She knew you'd freak out, she didn't want to worry anyone so she asked me not to tell you."

Before Jace could respond Robert nodded and said, "Well next time you should probably tell us that information immediately Simon," Simon shrugged and Robert continued, "anyway Clary woke up and is responding very well. Luckily it wasn't as serious as it could have been and Clary simply needs to rest. We'll keep her here for the night and as long as she takes it easy at home there really shouldn't be any more problems. I'm sorry guys you can see her later but for right now it's family only, is her father here?"

Everyone shook their heads no while Jonathan awkwardly raised his hand and said, "I'm her brother."

"If you'd like to see her you can follow me," Robert said. Jon nodded and carefully set down a now sleeping Lily on the chair next to Jamie and followed Robert. Jace sat down slumped in his seat, knowing that there is something not right about this. He knew about the soccer events but he didn't know she was getting beaten up during it, why wouldn't she just tell him? Also, Simon wasn't a very good liar either and he could tell that something wasn't right about that story. Something was definitely up and Jace was going to find out what.
