Chapter 14: Hang In There, Baby

Tony walked out of the armory, stopped and turned around to go right back in. He had two Desert Eagles tucked under his jacket, and a large sniper rifle in one hand. He grabbed a shotgun off the wall, tucked it under his other arm, grabbed a box of shells and walked out to sign out a car.

The Mossad Officers in charge of the vehicles checked his badge and ID. They questioned him about being so heavily armed, and Tony explained to them about being assigned as the NCIS liaison officer. The officers quickly whirled him around and slapped handcuffs onto his wrist.

"Come on! I don't have time for this shit!" Tony yelled, "Call Director Orly, she signed my orders less than 30 minutes ago!"

"He's right," Director Orly said, approaching them. "Release him immediately."

"Y-Yes ma'am," the guard stammered as he removed Tony's cuffs.

"Gentlemen, this is NCIS liaison officer Anthony DiNozzo. He reports directly to me. I trust that he will not have any problems in the future?"

"No ma'am," the guards replied.

"Thank you, Director," Tony said, shooting a dirty look at the guards. The director offered a smile and left, and Tony quickly signed out a vehicle. He stashed the rifle and shotgun in the back seat, and drove back to his apartment.

When he got to his temporary home in Israel, he pulled out his computer and used his new credentials to access Mossad's files. He made a sandwich and started combing through information, mostly old records pertaining to Eli David and Ben-Ami Calev.

For most of the night he read through old Mossad case reports. He silently thanked God that Mossad had a top of the line translation program, as most of the files were in Hebrew. Just as his eyes were getting heavy, and he was about to fall asleep, he came across an old, low priority case that Ben-Ami had been assigned years ago. As he began to read his heart rate increased, and suddenly he was wide awake. There was a small side note in the file; if he had blinked he would have missed it. There was a single sentence in the file about an old safe house Calev used on the case, and there was an address listed. An address that Tony had not yet checked.

It was morning now; the sun was just peeking over the horizon. Tony pulled up Mossad's satellites and got a fix on the property. It was a large, sprawling estate, surrounded by forest about 50 miles from where he was in Tel-Aviv. It was not fenced. Tony climbed into bed, hopeful about the information he'd found. He planned on sleeping through the day, and staking the property out that night. "I'm coming, Ziva," he whispered as he laid down and closed his eyes. "Hang in there, baby. I'm bringing you home."

Ben-Ami Calev sat at a desk and checked his email. He had a message from an old friend who was currently still in Mossad. He cursed loudly and called out to Eli.

"Calev, my friend, hush. Ziva is napping. Now what is it?"

Ziva, who was not sleeping, pressed her ear against her bedroom wall and strained to hear their conversation.

"I've just gotten a message from one of our Mossad contact. Special Agent DiNozzo has just been appointed the NCIS liaison officer to Mossad."

Ziva's heart began to beat wildly in her chest. She had never believed that they had given up on trying to find her. And now, with Calev's news that Tony was not only still in Israel, but assigned as a liaison officer, fresh hope welled up inside her.

Eli sighed and rubbed his chin, contemplating their next move. "We cannot leave here. It is unlikely that DiNozzo will find us. This place is well hidden. Hire eight armed guards, I want them working in shifts, four patrolling the grounds at all times."

"Of course, Eli."

Tony arrived after dark and parked his car deep in the woods, about a mile from the house. He had the Desert Eagles tucked under his jacket, a backpack on, sniper rifle in one hand and shotgun in the other.

After hiking for a while, the house finally came into sight. Tony stopped, knelt down and looked around. When he spotted a suitable tree, he pulled a rope out of his backpack, tied the rifle and shotgun to one end, and threw the other end of the rope over a high branch. He put his bag back on his back, climbed the tree and pulled the guns up. He set up the rifle so that it sat on the branch he was sitting on. He looked through the night vision scope and spotted four guards patrolling the grounds then turned the scope toward the house. All of the curtains were drawn, and the house looked dark.

"I know you're in there, Ninja," Tony whispered. But he couldn't go in with guns blazing until he had proof, solid confirmation that she was there. He waited patiently in the tree for hours, memorizing the paths that the armed guards were making around the property. He munched on granola bars as he waited, and saved his energy for the battle that would no doubt ensue.

Finally, at just after 4AM, before the sun came up, he saw a light go on in one of the rooms. He held his breath and looked through his night vision scope. Someone drew open the curtains, and Tony saw the outline of a pregnant female.

"Ziva... here I come, Sweetcheeks." He took a deep breath, trained his rifle on one of the armed guards, and pulled the trigger.
