Chapter 13: A Talk
Back at Satellite, Crow and Yusei were rejoined by Trudge and the twins. Almost immediately after, they took off for the Giant Tower and Kalin. Yusei was silent, trying to think of what he was supposed to do.
"Yusei, are you really going to die after this fight? No matter what," Crow asked. The said man merely looked away. "Yusei, you can't expect us to accept that. And to die by being ripped apart? Not even you could be ready for a fate like that."
"Crow, I've known about this for years. I've had plenty of time to prepare for tomorrow," he responded, still not looking at him. "And it's not something I can change."
"Bullshit!" he retorted. Yusei knew the only time Crow swore was when he was ticked beyond measure. Yusei looked at him. "I can tell you something, Yusei: the Crimson Dragon would not have chosen you to be a Signer if it knew you were going to die right after."
"We don't know that, Crow," Yusei argued. "After all, the Signers were originally created to fight the Dark Signers specifically, with a small possibility of other darknesses. And considering the egg will be hatching after the battle against the Dark Signers are finished, I'm not sure the Crimson Dragon thinks there'll be more than the Dark Signers coming in the future."
"Yusei, I know you better than anyone here. And I know that in all reality, you aren't ready to die like what's being planned for you," Crow fought back. "I don't care how long you've known about it, no one could ever honestly be ready to die like that. And besides, there has to be some way to change that fate. Even you know there is some way. I can see it in your eyes."
"Yusei, do you know a way?" Luna asked.
"The only way anyone has been able to do it has only happened twice and those happened centuries ago. When people known as Magic Weavers roamed these lands," he replied. "Only Magic Weavers would know the way to do it. And they're long gone."
"What's the way?" Leo asked.
"There's a spell they knew. I don't know it. But I know it takes two people who have to be connected to the guardian. They use the spell to reach into the guardian and take the egg out of the guardian themselves. The process could risk killing the guardian if it isn't done properly and is beyond painful for the guardian. Probably even more so than being ripped apart," Yusei explained. "I couldn't take the egg out of myself at that time, but if at least one of the people knew the spell, they would be able to do so themselves." He shook his head. "But that way is impossible by this point. There's no way to know the spell anymore since there are no Magic Weavers left. The only way for the egg to hatch and ensure the world stays alive is for Rarunga to tear me apart and eat me."
"But, Yusei…" Leo trailed off. He didn't know what to say.
He hadn't even known of "Magic Weavers" being a part of this world's history. No one ever knew by the look on the rest of the others' faces. They had truly completely vanished. And if they had completely vanished, then the Magic Weavers most likely were long gone. If that was so, then there really wasn't a way to save Yusei.
"Are you sure you don't know the spell, Yusei?" Trudge asked. "I mean, if you know about the spell and what has happened in the past with it, surely at least the egg would know and be able to tell you."
"I don't, Yusei. It's too long ago in my history to remember the spell with how young I am," the egg told him. "Once I hatched, I would most likely be able to remember it. But by then, it would be too late."
The man sighed. "The egg just said it doesn't know. It's too long ago in its history to remember it, especially with how young it currently is. It thinks it would most likely be able to remember it after it hatched, but by then…"
"By then, it would be too late," Crow finished. "I'm sure we can figure something out, Yusei. You don't have to die like that." Yusei looked away, uncertainty on his face.
They turned as they saw Kalin by the tower which came into view. The Dark Signer revved the engine of his duel runner and sped head on in front of Yusei. Both Yusei and Kalin swerved their duel runners to one side, avoiding the collision.
Kalin gave a maniacal grin and said, "It's time for us to settle the scores, through the last Duel of the Enforcers. The one that never was completed back then."
"Last duel…" Yusei muttered before reflecting back on the incident when they were the Enforcers.
Kalin laughed again and raised a finger. "Let's get things started."
Crow and the others arrived at a broken bridge a few blocks away from the tower, giving them a decent view of the turbo duel about to take place.
Kalin chucked off his cape, revealing his dark mark, and said, "This will be the last duel." His mark glowed and the purple flames erupted and shaped the Giant geoglyph. "I can see the events of this duel. I will kick you into the middle of the inferno of vengeance from the depths of death, with the power of my Earthbound Immortal!" Kalin called.
'Kalin was never like this. He had cared for his friends. He kept me from falling off a building, saying he would never leave his friends. I'm going to save you in this duel Kalin,' Yusei thought.
Both duelists lined up to begin the shadow turbo duel. They activated Speed World and took off.
