The feel of soft linen under him was the first thing he was aware of.
"Where am I what is going on?" he said softly aloud when no reply came he slowly opened his eyes and what he found was that he was in a room filled with shades of silver and gray the bed was simple but very well made. He thought it looked like some kind of white oak. Brian felt an odd sense of comfort around him the fire that he had felt earlier was gone. He felt weak but at least he was alive. Slowly he tried to sit up only to fine he lacked the strength.
"Awake are you good, at least i know my healing wasn't in vain." A male voice came from the doorway using what little strength he turned to look at the man talking to him. The sight that awaited him was not what he expected. Standing was a man that he could only describe as beautiful. His long black hair reached his mid back hung in a curtain around a more feminine than masculine face he ember colored eyes seem to glow as he walked over to the bed. He was dressed in both a red tunic and trousers. He also had on kid slippers and he was carrying a tray with what looked like herbs and a bowl of what smelled like porridge.
"Is this your house? where are my friends?" Brian asked when the man sat next to him.
"They are fine they are most likely still. It's only just after dawn. My name is Alex you are here because you had a mage fever i was able to break it but you are still weak so your staying. The wolf that came with you is paying for your stay." Alex said as he mixed some of the herbs in the bowl. "Think you can sit up with help? I won't feed you" he continued as he help Brian sit up before handing him the tray. As soon as the sheet fell away from Brian's chest the cowards brand showed and Brian held his breath. "If you are worried about that i have already seen it and frankly i don't care. Can you control your powers?" Alex asked.
"No not really i wasn't even aware i had powers until about a week ago. Midnight said i posses the gifts of wind and the Sight." He said when he heard Alex's breathe hitch. "Did i say something wrong?" he asked.
"No it just normally your kind of mage is already found before your powers wake up. Do you have a familiar? No of course not you just got your powers well you be here for a while ill if i can find the spell. I will be back in a little while to collect your bowl and help you change wind mage." Alex said walking out of the room muttering to himself, leaving Brian to eat alone lost in thought.
Meanwhile back in the swamp
"My lady it's dawn you wanted to be awake." Wraith said as he slither up the bed coiling up by his mage's head.
"Thank you my pet" came a sleepy reply. Slowly Sky untangled herself from her bed sheets her dark hair cascaded down her naked back. Her plan for the day was to try and reach the mind of the young wind mage even through the void created by the traitor. She ran a bone comb through her hair before she walked over to her crystal bowl. Carefully she filled the bowl with water called from the living thing around her leaving plants around her brown and lifeless then with a quick prick of her finger she let a few drops of blood fall into the water staining it pink. Muttering a spell she began to slowly swirl the water using her still bleeding finger. After about five minutes of waiting her patience running thin she threw the bowl across the room shattering it.
"CURSE HIM! CURSE HIM!" she shouted the spell she had cast had not only failed but the backlash had singed her hand leaving a large burn on her hand. She turned to the steaming remands of her bowl. "Fine have it your way I will come to you." she laughed. Her eyes grew more and more crazed with each passing second. Wraith just watched curled up his own silver eyes reflected madness as well. "Wraith come here we have work to do." She purred reaching her hand over to the to him as he slithered up her naked body to settle on her shoulder.
