The fight continues...The Serenity takes her first big hit since she has been commissioned into active service. For Arnold this is the real deal not like the kobayashi maru simulation, every choice he makes effects his crew and we will now see how he adapts and attempts to shift the odds in his favor.

Hey Arnold: A New Frontier

Chapter 14

An EPS conduit behind a console on the left side of the bridge overloaded from a power surge sending sparks erupting onto the bridge as the deck below then rocked heavily knocking a few crewmembers off balance with a few falling down and catching themselves. "Report" yelled Arnold. T'Ris checked her console for damage to the ship. "Hall breach on decks 5 through 7, sections 23 and 24 beta. force fields are holding." Arnold grabbed hold of the arm rest as the ship rocked heavily from the impact as Gerald spoke up giving the order to evacuate the surrounded sections. But before Arnold could give his next set of orders the ship rocked again not as heavily. "Minor hull breaches along the starboard hull, decks 13, 16 and 18. Forcefields are holding." Arnold nodded as he heard the report from T'Ris at the ops station. "Helm is there anywhere to act as cover?" Movot complied as he ran scans for anything near by. "I'm showing a class 2 nebula bearing 070 mark 034, 800,000km it will disrupt their sensors." Arnold thought that it would disrupt theirs too but it was the edge they needed to gain the upper hand. "Set course full impulse, reroute auxiliary to engines give me all you got." Movot again followed orders and set the ship toward the nebula where they could regroup and find away to defend against the polaron weapons.

Debris from the hull trailed behind Serenity as it made its way at full speed to the nebula, T'Ris was doing what she could to find the data they needed as repair crews attended to the damage caused by the Magellan. As it approached the nebula Sombra was following close behind but still out of weapons range sense Serenity's engines were boosted and Helga's trick had prevented a torpedo lock. "Sir I have something." T'Ris spoke up breaking the uneasy silence on the bridge as the finally made their way inside the nebula as Arnold got up to see what she found. "If we route field power through auxiliary capacitance banks and utilize force field generator banks we can increase field stength from 450.2 megawatts to 2.6 gigawatts, along with an adaptive shield algorithm I can defend against those weapons for short bursts of time otherwise we risk overloading the shield generators." He patted the console housing as he made his way back to his chair. "Good work, Miss Pataki ready all weapons, helm bring us about." The ship turned sharply making a trail in the nebula gases as it changed course to head back toward the Magellan. Everyone on the bridge watched the screen intently as the gasses pealed away from the hull of the ship as they exited the nebula only to come face to face with Sombra closing in on them. He knew it would be a matter of seconds before they were in weapons range so he gave his next set of orders to his crew. "Ready the shield modification Lt, target their weapon systems." T'Ris and Helga followed their orders readying their as they waited confront Sombra.

An alarm filled the bridge as the ships entered each others weapons range as Helga yelled out. "They're firing." It was just enough time for Arnold to call out his orders. "Shields" Right away T'Ris entered the command strengthening the forward shields against the phased polaron weapons. Suddenly a beam if purple and blue energy stretched across space striking Serenity on her forward shields causing the ship to rock back and forth from force impact on the shield generators. "Shields are holding." T'Ris announced from her station as she checked over the ships status read outs on her console. 'Good, we can keep them at bay now' Thought Arnold to himself as he adjusted himself in his seat again. "Fire." he yelled making Helga smiled, she had never seen this side of Arnold before and it was exciting her. "Aye" she said quickly as she pressed the fire command sending a volley of phaser fire and torpedoes hurtling toward the Magellan striking several points along the shields. "Several direct hits on their shields, they're are down to 80%" Suddenly the ridged rocked again from another hit "Shields down to 90% but that last hit damaged the lateral sensor array, I'm routing power to the other arrays to compensate." Arnold nodded as he watched the screen intently. "Bring us about, ready aft launchers." The ship made a turn away from the Magellan so they could regenerate their forward shields but still get a shot in on Sombra's ship. But as Arnold's ship was making its maneuver Sombra fired again but unknown to the crew the weapon he fired. "Incoming sir, readying shields." T'Ris said aloud as she detected the launch but what they didn't expect was how strong the weapon was. The ship rocked ever heavier then before as the hit to the shields caused power overloads all over the ship, even the conduit running by T'ris's station. An explosion sent her into the console knocking her out, Arnold rushed to her side grabbing a medical tricorder from the emergency med kit behind the captains chair. "Medical team to the bridge" Called out Arnold as he tapped his combadge before Gerald helped Arnold get T'Ris out of the danger area. "Reroute ops control to your station Helga and find out what hit us." She nodded and confirmed "Aye." She ran the scans checking the sensors for what hit them and what it did to the ship.

"Sir that was a tricolbolt device shields down to 50%, casualties all across the ship medical teams are responding." Arnold let out a frustrated sigh as he heard the report. Sombra was getting on his last nerve as he gave his next order "Fire quantum torpedoes full spread." Helga nodded carrying out the order and sent a volley of quantum torpedoes as they streaked across space as orbs of blue light and impacting on Sombra's ship as the last hit penetrated the forward shields and striking the neck section connecting the saucer section to the main hull creating a deep hull breach sending various explosive gasses and debris into space. Helga smiled seeing the damage on her read outs. "That last one went through their shields causing a hull breach, their forward shields are down." Then something changed on the sensor read outs. "Captain, their turning about heading for the nebula." After he finished treating T'Ris with the help of the medical team and sent her to recover in sickbay, Arnold return to the captains chair and watched the Magellan retreating to the same nebula they used to recover. Sensing that was his intent as well he decided to follow on knowing that if he let Sombra recover he could bring his arsenal back to attack the green eyes and so he knew he had to stop him.

On board the Magellan the deck plates rattled to a severe intensity that knocked many crew members down to the ground as Sombra himself held on for dear life to the arm rests of his chair. "Report." he yelled to his officers with such hate and rage filling his voice. "Hull breach on decks 9 through 12, force fields are holding, but forward shields are down." Sombra slammed his fist on his arm rest as Arnold had managed to get that kind of hit on his ship. "Suggestions?" he asked his bridge crew for any ideas that he would open to hearing and decide on. One officer turned from his science station to face Sombra "What if we surrender?" Without hesitation Sombra pulled out a Varon-T disruptor that he had in his holster and fired causing the man to scream in agony as he was vaporized before the crew. "No cowards on my ship, now what can we do to fight back against the star fleet dogs." He yelled out to his crew leaving much of his bridge crew speechless. Then his officer at tactical spoke up. "Sir, the nebula." Sombra turned to face him with a stare can could cause anyone to loose their resolve. "What about it?" he asked his fuse notably shorter. "The nebula gasses and radiation interferes with targeting sensors, if we get in there they would have trouble hitting us." Sombra considered what he had to say but then realized the plan wasn't without risk as they wouldn't be able to get a lock either. "It could buy us time, set course for the nebula."

So now Sombra is on the run but isn't out of the battle just yet.
