I don't own Ghost hunt! On with the story!
It took half an hour to set up, and it was already getting dark.
Mai had made her second round of tea. She placed it on a tray she had packed and brought with her, and brought it to the table. At once, both Naru and Yasu stood to get a cup, and Mai pretended not to notice. Everyone else took their time, all muttering a thank you, other then Naru, who just sipped his tea leisurely.
"You're welcome jerk" Mai seethed, huffing and walking to sit with Yasu. Naru flinched, and Lin noticed.
"So while we are here..." Ayako started, trying her best not to grin wickedly "But what should we do about the bed situation?"
"Monk and Yasu in one, Lin and John in the other, I will have the third, and you three will have your own beds" Naru answered, as if it was obvious.
"Nope! I refuse to be in a bed with him!" Monk argued, putting his arms out in front of him, making an X. "I will just stay with Ayako, there are curtains, I am sure the girls wont mind, I will be on my best behaviour"
"If Monk gets to stay with Ayako, then I am staying with Mai" Yasu piled on, putting his arm around Mai, knowing she was blushing.
"No, it's hardly appropriate, this is a case" Naru disagreed, crossing his arms in a no nonsense way.
"Why is that? What do you think is goanna happen big boss?" Yasu asked innocently.
"This isn't up for discussion" Naru glared, his voice becoming rigid.
"Why not big boss? Something wrong with talking about this?" Yasu inquired, tilting his head.
"Did I say that?" Naru turned back to the monitors.
"No you implied it" Yasu shot back.
"Stop this!" Mai cried out. "I will share a bed with Masako, and John can have the spare bed in the girls room!"
"Do I still get to share a bed with Ayako?" Monk asked/half whispered.
"Yes" Mai replied sighing.
"Why does he get to?" Yasu asked pouting. Mai tried not to blush.
"They are married" Mai countered weakly. Yasu pout deepened, and then he sent Naru a nasty glare. Mai felt like sinking into the floor. Naru's glare faded, but only just.
"So more importantly, I'm starving, and I need food" Monk whined, knowing full well the tension in the room, and trying desperately to break it. Ayako knew this, and so played along.
"All you care about is your stomach!" She accused, hitting him upside the head with her ever present purse.
"Goddammit woman! Stop hitting me!" Monk cried back, before seeing real anger rise in his wife's eyes. Monk jumped up, and hid behind Mai, using her as a human shield.
Just as John felt the need to intervene, there was a knock on the door. Mrs Hitachi, the woman from earlier, waited patiently for an answer on the other side. She hadn't just walked in, like most people would have after getting no reply. She knew they were there, and so was going to wait like she was use to.
"Come in" Mai called hesitantly, already knowing who it was. No one else would have knocked and waited so patiently, other then someone who was scared of being disciplined had they not. Her husband was a monster, and so Mai doubted he would have even knocked, and the other girls in the house, wouldn't have been shy about walking in, or had any business going to see them in the first place. Mrs Hitachi opened the door slightly, poking her head in. She opened it wider as everyone stared at her, wondering why she was here. To which the shaken woman bowed her head, and spoke quietly.
"I have just make dinner, and there is enough to feed you all, I hope you will join us" Mai had to admit, her choice to make food before asking was either bold, or desperate. But she quickly guessed on desperate, looking at the woman visibility shaking. This was a woman who wanted SPR at the table for some reason, and was willing to depend on social grace to make them show up. Mai knew that the other girls didn't want to show, and she didn't either... But they couldn't simply forsake Mrs Hitachi.
"We will, thank you so much for your hospitality" Naru bowed, his voice lacking emotion or meaning, and he didn't try hide his distaste for joining. But that sad, almost pleading look Mai was sending him, had convinced him... Like it always had. Yasu's keen eyes missed the slight exchange, as he was busy scanning the bruise on Mrs Hitachi's cheek, that was poorly covered with make-up.
Everyone followed Mrs Hitachi out, apart from Lin who had to watch the base, and who was much happier in his own company, then in others. The walk was rather quite, and only Monk and Ayako, and John and Masako, engaged in small take. Mai was too busy trying to smile, and ignore the uneasiness that had settled in the pit of her stomach. For some reason, she felt rather sick. It was like a bad smell or something... It just made her feel queasy.
"I apologise in advance for my cooking, I have never been the best cook" Mrs Hitachi muttered, unconsciously rubbing her wrist with her left hand. That's when Mai noticed the strangeness of her clothing. She had changed in the last few hours, and while Mai could have been imagining things, the clothes seemed rather covering, more then most people, and more so for in someone's own home. Her top had long sleeves and a turtleneck, it was a dark greenish colour. The skirt was a slightly darker shade, that looked a little more faded.
"Oh no, don't be silly. I am sure its better then you think it is" Mai assured, her smile forced. She could have sworn he had something to do with it. Maybe he had told her to dress like that, while there was other men in the house... How ironic, the cheater with his own mistress, cares about what his wife wears...
"Come on, today please!" A woman called, standing from her seat, walking up to Mrs Hitachi, and taking a hold of her hair... Instead of striking her, like it looked like she was going to do, she licked her ear, and let go. Mrs Hitachi looked like she was about to fall. This woman, wore a cheap, classy looking dress, red, short and low cut, with black heels. She was quick to notice Naru, and her eyes narrowed, before she smirked. She didn't let Mr Hitachi see, she hid her lustful gaze, so only Naru, Mai and Yasu saw it. Mai didn't even know she was doing it, but she glared daggers at the woman... And Yasu glared at Naru, visibly flinching. Of course Mai's glare could have been to protect her friend, but to Yasu it looked like Naru was manipulating his Mai into being this protective. He had no logic behind it, but he told himself that it was.
"Yes Ma'am!" Miss Hitachi called, timidly rushing to the kitchen to serve the masses. Mai followed after her, as well as Masako and Ayako... Being in a room with this harlot didn't exactly thrill them. She didn't seem to touch the boys, her master wouldn't approve. Though this woman seemed to be able to do as she pleased with Miss Hitachi, and they didn't want to be next. Besides, Mr Hitachi's gaze was still very unnerving, even if they were dressed in more covering clothing.
"He will scold me if I allow you to help me, you know that right?" Miss Hitachi joked, trying to smile. As she tried to take something out the oven, a spell of dizziness hit her, and Mai saw it. She was quick to take the cloth, and the try out her hands, put it on top the oven, and lead Miss Hitachi to a seat...
"That young one, with the brown hair... Which one of you fine gentlemen are hitting that?" Mr Hitachi questioned, his voice casual, yet they could almost hear the lust seeping into his words. "By the way you three went to protect her, I am guessing its one of you" He grinned, watching his guests tense, and fill with anger and shock. Yasu and Naru glared at the man, and even Lin and John didn't hide their disgust and disapproval.
"How dare you!" Yasu roared, standing from his seat, and slamming his palms against the table. "She isn't an object!"
"So you are the boyfriend?" Mr Hitachi asked, his ever casual tone present. "But you haven't had her yet... I can tell"
Both Naru and Yasu froze. "I would never take advantage of her like that" Yasu replied, feeling his cool leave him, and a pink set his cheeks.
So they hadn't... Naru had thought they had, due to the picture painted when he went to ask Mai to take up her old job... But maybe he was the reason they hadn't...
"Because she doesn't know what she is missing... Maybe force yourself onto her, maybe she will like it" Mr Hitachi added, smirking at the dark mist that befell on the heads of the SPR boys.
