Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas! I hope you enjoy your holiday!
Larry and Jewel ran from the attack. They looked back and noticed the dinosaur no longer chased them. They took a minute to breath, as they leaned against the doorway. A nearby painting of a young woman watched them, but turned away. They walked up to the north wing, a big room awaiting them.
"You start on the right, I'll start on the left?" Larry asked.
"Good idea," Jewel breathed out, the parent and child heading in separate directions.
The female guard turned over paintings and felt around the walls, hoping to find a secret door. Nothing was there, but she was determined to look. So she searched on in hopes of finding something. She had to keep looking if she wanted it all back. Jewel already had a hard time trusting where she was- What if Viktor really did send them there? What if he was coming for another round? It was all full of what ifs.
"Find anything?"
Jewel saw that Larry had been talking to her. He hadn't looked at her, but he was waiting for an answer.
"Not yet."
"We'll find something in no time," Larry reassured.
The man snooped around cases of medals and guns. The unique designs would not lead them anywhere. If only he had the eyes of a young man, he could spot a clue. If there was one in the grand room. Then he stumbled upon something- an old bookcase. Larry had a hunch about it- and he was right. When he moved it away, a locked door was revealed.
"Nice one, Larry!" the girl said excitedly.
"Thanks, Jewel," he glanced around," Alright- there's gotta be a key somewhere.
While he searched around, the girl pulled a bobby pin from her mangled up hair. She tugged it out, and fixed it up. She picked the lock in a few swift seconds. Jewel smiled and pushed the door open with a gentle hand. Her stepfather looked curiously, wondering how she knew the trick.
"I'm a writer," she explained," I know the weirdest things."
Larry smiled at her response. He got out his flashlight and looked up the set of stairs. They were covered in dust, and made of weak wood (as far as they could tell) His light shined on up into a dark attic. The two looked around, seeing dust, boxes and nothing more. As they went for the stairs, something behind them fell. Larry flashed the light in the direction of the noise. And in the corner, he saw a young girl.
Her dress was maroon, matching with white stockings and black Mary-Janes. He noticed the Star of David on her collar and a diary in her hands. She had a terrified look on her face and watched as he reached to her. They knew who she was.
"Don't be afraid," The guard said," we're not gonna hurt you. I'm Larry Daley and this (he pointed to Jewel) is my daughter Jewel."
"Are you with him?" She asked.
"No," Larry said," I'm actually Jewish and no where near with 'him'."
The girl smiled and looked around. She stood from her spot, just as Jewel came over to her.
"Are you okay?" she asked softly.
"Now I am," the girl said with a German accent," My name is Annalies- but you can call me Anne."
"Well Anne," he said," we're looking for our friends. They have big crowns, one has a staff, they look like Ancient Egyptians."
"There was one with ze guard und another man," she exclaimed, still holding tight to her diary," he looked very young."
"Ahkmenrah," Jewel mumbled," can you tell us what happened?"
The young girl went on and told her story. They had the pharaoh in cuffs, while an older man carried the tablet and the guard held a staff. They came to the family and demanded that they joined the army. The statue of Otto, however, refused to let his family be entangled in such a mishap. Ahkmenrah begged the two men to leave the family alone, but the guard was not going to have any of it.
Jewel and Larry looked at each other with fear. These people were going to hurt Ahkmenrah and several others. Maybe it was to lure the team into a trap of hellfire. That had to be the master plan of the enemies. It was put aside as Anne continued.
"Afterwards," she said," they left with my family und locked me up here. I want to stop their army und save my family...but I don't know where they went to."
"You can help us stop them," Jewel said, as she comforted Anne" and return to your family."
"You think we will?" the girl sniffed.
"I promise. All you need to do is come with us. I don't think it's safe to be alone right now."
Anne was the least bit hesitant as she obliged. She put her diary in a satchel and slung it over her shoulder. The three went down the stairs and left the room, glad to have Anne Frank on their side. As they walked, she asked how they knew what might be going on and how they knew the boy. Larry explained that the magic tablet (made by the Egyptians) had brought the museum in New York to life every night. He then explained that it was stolen by Germans working in the museum and how they might use it for evil.
"And as for the boy you saw," the older girl said.
"Who is her boyfriend," her step father butted in.
"He he was the pharaoh of Egypt," Jewel smirked," and just a friend. He was a loved prince by his people. But his brother- we should get going. It's already 10:52."
Jewel and the other two walked on as she pondered. Surely Larry knew about Kahmunrah and his guilty thoughts. And the crimes he committed. After all, he was a history teacher. Perhaps, however, maybe there were some things even he didn't know.
