thanks for getting this far. I hoped you like the turnoff for Sky and Kazuma. thing will get a little rough up ahead in the story but stay tuned for what happens. Disclaimer: I don't own Fairy Tail.
I woke up early that morning before the sun started to rise. I sat up and stretched, Gold stirred beside me but didn't wake up. I got up and got my school uniform I had washed and flattened on. It was a little strange wearing a skirt I could never feel but I would have to wear it for a day.
I put in another change of clothes just in case. I woke up Gold and got her dressed in her dress showing off her ears and tail. I smiled as she showed her sharp canines.
Since we got here, she had learned how to use the bathroom in the bathroom and not on the floor or on a tree. She had learned a few words and could express her feelings. But she still had that tendency to bark at passing people and cats even if they were flying.
I hope that when we go back she wont turn back into a dog. I put on my sapphire necklace Kazuma gave me and shouldered my bag and grabbed the cane Porlyusica gave me just un case.
I check again of the stuff I needed in my head. "I got everything I need." I said turning to Gold, "come on girl, to the guild."
We walked out of the building and I dropped my key off at the desk so I wouldn't lose it and head out to the guild. When I got there I saw Kazuma and Gajeel already there waiting. I called out to them and they turned. "Got everything?" I asked him.
He nodded, "yes, I got clothes, I got my Visa, I got spare money, and I have my school uniform." He said pointing to his black uniform.
I nodded, "good did you get what I asked for?"
He nodded and held out several blue Visa passes with pictures, dates and all the other things a Visa needed. "Good, we will need these." I said satisfied.
"what are those for?" Gajeel asked looking at the small strange blue books in my hand.
"You'll find out later, now we wait for the others." I said to Gajeel.
I sat down and grabbed a banana and apple I had in my bag. I peeled and cored the apple for Gold and I ate the banana, as soon as we finished our light breakfast the sun was coming up and the other members of our party showed up.
"Good everyone is here." I said to everyone as they gathered around.
Everyone had one bag except Erza who had her whole giant pile of suitcases. "um Erza, I regret to say this but you can have that much luggage, it might get stolen or lost." I told her.
She looked at it, "please Erza just one or two suitcases that's the limit." I tried to inquire with her.
She looked at her pile of luggage but said nothing. We stood like that and I checked my watch. "Oh shit, we'll be late, okay Erza you can keep the luggage but remember what I said." I said to her reaching in the front pocket of my bag.
"aren't we going to the train station?" Lucy asked me.
I shook my head, "the train isn't going anywhere near our stop." I said, "here it is."
I pulled out my silver and gold key. "open gate of Portals, take me to Naperville, California." I called out and twisted the key like I was opening up a door.
A blue flash of light and a ripple was seen across the particle of the air itself. "be safe my children." Master said behind us.
"we will Master." I said to him as a blue space opened up, "brace yourself for landing. And what ever you do don't touch the other dimensions inside."
They all nodded, and we stepped inside. The space behind us closed and we were floating through the dimensions. The same seen that occurred to me in my dream happened in front of me. I just stared at the scenes around me until we got to a space surrounded by a blue aura.
"Here it is." I said, "watch your step please."
I took a step forward and I appeared suddenly in the park near the cliff I wheeled myself off. The others showed up behind me as I made room for them. "where are here." I announced as an old dude walked by listening to a ipod.
He looked at us strangly. I dug through my bag and produced two hats. I put one on Gold's head to hid her ears and the other on Natsu to sort of hid his pink hair.
"Okay stick with us and what we say goes." I told them as I started walking through the park. A bunch of people stared at Erza's giant luggage cart but we ignored them. I got to the street that lead to the school and saw a bunch of people in the school walking together, chatting with their friends all happy like. I walked on the street heading for school and I stopped outside of the school building itself, "okay guys, wait here just give us a few hours to handle things here. Any volunteers to go with me?" I asked them nervously.
Gray stepped forward, "I'll go with." Gray said cooly.
I nodded, "okay everyone else, stay here." I handed them a few bills, "here in case you get hungry. There's a small convience store down the street. This is just enough to get you enough food to snack on."
I shouldered my pack, "please don't cause trouble. Were off. And Gray put your shirt on before I tape it to you." I said to him.
I walked into the school building with Gray and Kazuma behind me. we came to an intersection one going to the office and I had a note for leaving the school perminantly, and the other going to the classroom.
I turned to Kazuma, "go to the class and tell the teacher I will be there soon. Gray follow me to the office I need your help with things."
They both nodded and we went on out separate ways. Gray and me walked through the halls heading for the office and I a few girls stopped and stared at Gray. A few of them blushed and in my mind I threatened to pull out the tape I somehow had in my bag.
We got to the door and I found that Gray didn't take off his shirt yet. 'Good," I thought, 'now we need to get through this and were home free.'
I walked in the office and the secretary looked up at me. "oh a new student, I presume." She said.
I shook my head, "no, maim, it me Skylar from class 13. The girl in the wheelchair, I'm here to speak to the principal, I wanted to leave the school I'm moving away so." I said to her.
She touched the intercom to the principal's office, "a student is here to see you."
"Send them in." the principal answered.
She motioned for to the door and me and Gray walked in. the principal was a tall man maybe forty. He sat at his desk.
I manovered around the room, "Please have a seat Ms. Fernandes and who might this be?" he asked motioning to Gray.
"he's my guardian, Gray Fullbuster." I said, "I came to say I'm sorry for missing school for the past week, as you can see I was getting treatment."
He looked at my legs with a nod, "it seems like it worked, but I dare say it doesn't take a week to heal parlization." He said.
"My Gran paid before she died." I told him, "Now to get down to business."
I rummaged through my bag and pulled out two letters one for me and the other for Kazuma. Both signed by Master. "I wanted you to pull out all of my of mine and Kazuma Kasai's files please. If you read the letters then you will find the reason." I said to him.
He read the notes and looked at me. "so it seems like you have been chosen out of millions of kids to join a special program in another country and your leaving in two days." He said like he didn't believe me, "and what does your guardian have to say about this?"
I turned to Gray, he looked cool as always in the seat without his shirt on. Without his shirt on. "Gray!" I whispered to him.
He looked down and saw that he didn't have his shirt on again. He grabbed it off the floor and put it on quickly as the teacher gave him a strange look. "ah, yes, the school is called Fairy's House for Gifted Children, Skylar and Kazuma must be really proud to be recuted into the school." He said.
I was glad that before we left I had told them of the cover I had come up with for the school. They had agreed that who ever had to come with me would explain the 'program" to my principal. I think I would have preferred Erza though, I kept having to remind Gray to put his shirt on.
The principal looked over the notes each hand written by Master, "Okay give till the end of the day." He said, "but for now you may return to class and your guardian can go home or take you out of school."
I nodded, "yes sir."
We stood up and walked out of the principal's office and we went to the entrance. We walked out to see Erza, Natsu, Lucy, Gold and Gajeel sitting there eating convienece store sweets like ice cream sandwiches and candy. "Any trouble out here?" I asked them.
Erza shook her head, "none at all." She said bitting into a strawberry ice cream cone with bits of actual cake in it.
I nodded, "Good, I'll be out in a few hours, if you get hot there's some shade around the back of the school."
I walked back into the school my legs starting to ache a little. I leaned on my cane a little and went to class. I opened the door and handed the note to my teacher. A few students started whispering to each other snickering a little. I ignored them and went to me seat near Kazuma. I gave him a thumb's up and he smiled and nodded.
Around lunch me and Kazuma got together and talked, "the principal said he would have the papers ready by after school." I told him.
A few students came over to me. "Hey, wheel freak." One of them said.
"it's Skylar not wheel freak." I retorted to them sitting on my desk, "and as you can see; I'm not in a wheelchair anymore."
They snickered, "we saw you come in late, trying to impress your boyfriend by being a bad girl?" they asked me with mean grins on their faces.
"what boyfriend, I was speaking to the principal. After today you wont see my ugly face around anytime soon." I retorted to them.
My stomach growled and I looked out the window, this morning I only had a banana and I was hungry. All of a sudden a bunch of girls squealed and head for the door. Even the girls making fun of me were at the door trying to get closer to the person trying to get in.
"Hey, get off me. Let me in." a familiar voice said. I looked towards the voice and saw Natsu at the entrance being attacked by girls trying to get in the classroom. His hat was coming off showing his salmon pink hair.
He jumped up all of a sudden and he was by me and Kazuma who was nearby. He dropped a box on my desk. I looked at him, "what's this for Natsu?" I asked him.
"Lunch, Erza told me to bring it to you. Now if you excuse me." he said as he opened the window.
The classroom was on the third floor and the fall would result in broken bones. I ignored him, "thanks Natsu, please don't destroy things and I'll be out in about an hour." I told him.
He nodded and jumped. A few girls gasped and rushed to the window to see if he was hurt. Obviously he was fine, he dusted himself off and walked off. A few of the girls looked relieved and then turned to me.
I was just digging into the lunch erza made for us and saw triangle sandwiches and other delicacys. "what was that all about, wheel freak?" one of the girls demanded to me, "who was that cute guy and what's your conection to him?"
A bunch of other girls agreed with her. "he's Natsu Dragneel, you wouldn't know him. He's a wizard from Fiore." I told them not paying any attention to them.
By their silence I presumed that they were confused by what I said. "what are you talking about?" she asked confused.
Before I could answer someone else came into the door, instead of the girls crowding around some of the boys had nose bleeds. I heard a clank and saw a metal thermos near our lunch. I looked up and saw Erza standing there. "thanks you for the lunch Erza, it's delicious." I thanked her as Kazuma picked up a sandwich and took a bite.
"if you had this food then why did you give them money?" Kazuma asked.
"because it's hot, well not too hot for Natsu, I thought they would like to buy some ice cream." I said to him.
The class room was dead quiet except for me and Kazuma talking. "shouldn't you be watching Natsu and Gray?" I asked Erza. She cursed and went to the open window.
"meet you outside in an hour." I told her. She nodded and lept out the window.
I smiled and poured me something to drink. I paid no hed to the others staring at the scene that happened. Two adults just jumpt out the classroom window like it was nothing. I looked up to see everyone staring at me.
"what, they do that all the time. To them it's nothing." I said to them.
All of a sudden I heard a commotion in the hall. I looked up and the teacher talking with a few people outside the classroom. One of those people just happened to be my mother and Kazuma's aunt. I gulped down the liquid in my mouth and I glanced over my shoulder to see that Kazuma was sweating.
The teacher came in and called for me and Kazuma to step out of the class. I slowly stood up and fingered my cane. For some reason my legs didn't want to listen what I told them. I turned to Kazuma and he was sheet white, his scar standing out on his face.
"Coming." I called to him.
I stood up shakily, afraid of what my mother would say about me disappearing for a week. She would probably yell at me and not give me dinner again. I went to the door slowly with Kazuma behind me. my teacher opened the door for us and we stepped out. There a few feet in front of me stood my mother in her latest fashion, perfect make up on but a scowl on her face.
She thank my teacher and he went inside. I stood there staring at her. She remained quiet for a time, too quiet for me. "Hello mother." I said shakily.
Before she could say anything she slapped me as hard as she could. Her long nails digging into my skin drawing blood. For a split second I was stunned. I lifted my hand to my flaming cheek and drew it away trailing blood. I looked at her, "where have you been, you insolent girl?!" she demanded, "you were gone for a week and never called."
"you wouldn't have cared." I muttered under my breath.
She slapped me again, "you left and didn't care, then came back the other day and threatened me." she yelled at me.
The night my mother was actually afraid replayed in my mind. "yeah, because I hate you!" I yelled back earning another slap across the face.
My cheek was burning and tears threatened to fall. "what did you say to me girl?" she demanded in a sort of shocked tone.
"I hate you." I replayed, "I never loved you, I don't care if you're my mother, I hate you from the bottom of my heart. I wish I was never your daughter. I wish to just disappear off the face of this earth."
She smiled, "then how about I help you." She said.
I looked at her and she smiled like a demon. She raised her foot and kicked me with her high heel shoe, in the stomach.
I kneel over holding my stomach, but didn't cry out in pain. "You insolent girl, after all I gave you. I gave you life and for what saying that you hate me?" she said.
She stamped her foot on me, her two inch tall heel digging into my side. I was pretty sure I heard a few ribs crack. I looked up to see that Kazuma wasn't there to witness this. I smiled and spit out some blood. "what are you going to get out of this. If I report this to the police, you will be charged with child abuse." I threatened.
Her face tightened and she raised her foot and I smiled as a shadow lumed over her body. She turned to see the angry form of Erza Scarlet, Natsu Dragneel and an angry Gold standing behind.
'Just what are you doing to the girl?" Erza asked her politely.
She looked at my slight bloody form on the ground. She picked me up and dusted me off like I fell on the ground. "this silly girl just slipped on the ground and fell. You silly girl you should watch where you are going." She said sweetly, her evil personality changing completely.
I fingered my cane as she explained to my guildmates. Erza turned to me, "is everything she said true?" she asked me.
She knew if I was lying or not, I shook my head, "No she isn't, Erza please take me away from this place." I pleaded with her.
She nodded and pulled out a sword from midair. She pointed it at my mother, "what you have done to this girl is unjust and you must pay for your sins. Release the girl into my custody as of today." She asked my mother.
She shook her head like she was being delusional. "I wont just give away my daughter." She objected.
I leaned on my cane and tried to limp over to Erza. My mother put her hand in front of me to stop me from going. "No you aren't young lady, your coming home with me right now." She said. "But mother what about my bag?" I asked her.
She turned to the classroom down the empty corridor, "go get it. be quick about it girl." She said.
I hurried off as fast as I could limp. I went in the class and grabbed my bag off my table and the half eaten lunch made by Erza. I put it at the bottom of my bag near the dagger I had summoned a few hours ago. For some reason my bag felt light despite all the stuff in it. even with all the stuff in it, it still wasn't full. 'must be a magic bag.' I thought.
I wabbled to the door telling the teacher my mother was here to check me out. He nodded, understandingly. I left the classroom and saw my mother standing there looking at her watch like she was on a time schedule. Erza was still there and I walked by her. I quickly stuffed a piece of paper in her hand.
"Sorry Erza." I whispered to her.
I walked behind my mother as she went to the elevator and went down to her car. She put me in the back and we went home. my little brother almost jumped me when we got home, but with my mother around he remained silent and where he was.
She sent me to my room without dinner again and I sat there in quiet. I looked out the window at the sun setting. "I hope Kazuma's okay." I said.
