This needs a little more plot now.

Her mind soared as she slept. She dreamed of narrow and twisting dirt roads with endless mountains on either side. There was some sort of lush greenery surrounding the roads. A large river ran through the trees and an assortment of creatures darted about the branches. Suddenly she was rushing downwards from her bird's-eye view and was moving at top speed through the forest. The animals leaped out of her way, giving her wide eyed looks as she shot straight for a small clearing. There was a tall chain link fence, keeping the forest out. She went straight through the fence and landed on soft dirt. Before her stood a large, bland brick building. There were vines digging their way into cracks in the sides of it and all around the building, crops grew, as if this place could be a farm.

"Mom," she called. "I'm home."

She walked around a patch of herbs and into an area where three campfires were visible. No one was in sight.

"Mom!" She tried again. "Mo-ther!"

There was silence. Then a ghostly screech from a monkey.

"Mom!" Her voice reached a shrill note and suddenly she felt someone shaking her roughly.

"Six! Get up!"

Opening her eyes, the Courier was met by Veronica's worried gaze. "You okay?" Her lips formed a tight line and her brows were knitted tightly together.

"Uhm," Six clung desperately to the tiny shard of memory. Somewhere in Mexico... She tried to picture the mother she had been trying to find. But not a single image came to her. Her eyes shifted to the floor. "Yeah, bad dream."

"Something about your mom?" Veronica sat down, patiently waiting to hear the story.

"She was..." The Courier shrugged. She couldn't really say anything. She still didn't remember anything. "I just couldn't find her is all. I'm sure she's fine. It's probably just the argument that I got into with Boone last night."

Veronica smiled. "I really hope you two are alright. Cass told me what happened the other day. What he said about you." She paused. "I really think he does like you, he just won't admit it."

The Courier shrugged, offering a timid smile, waiting for Veronica to leave. She did, announcing that she'd meet Six in the kitchen.

Surprisingly, they all had breakfast together. Arcade and Cass had made some really simple recipes. Most of the recipes were ones that Cass had picked up from endless nights roaming the wasteland, but they were pretty decent. Six scarfed down her food with no complaints.

Arcade and Veronica were busy discussing different kinds of tech while Hadrian and...

Six stared at the girl with red hair. Her hat angled over her head to show her cocky grin right before she took a swig of whiskey.

Who was she?

Six felt her heart speed up. She was... Caravan? Something to do with "Caravan"... Cassidy Caravans. Cass. Her name was Cass.

The Courier let out a breath and took a quick gulp of her water.

"You okay?" Hadrian asked, eyes fixed on her.

She smiled a bright and confidant smile. "I'm fine."

He returned the smile, completely fooled and returned to the argument Cass was having with Boone about NCR military control over caravans.

She ran her hand across the fur on Rex's head while letting her thoughts drift. Then Rex whined.

"I'm sorry," She told him. "We'll get you fixed up today. How's that sound?"

Rex barked happily, his tail wagging.

This earned her the attention of everyone.

"I'm going to take Rex to a special doctor in Jacob's town."

The dog jumped onto his hind legs with his front legs perched on her lap.

"You let him do that?" Arcade grimaced and was rewarded with a low growl from Rex, his muzzle closing and then opening again with his tongue lolling out once more. It was a subtle warning, but Arcade shut up about it anyway.

"I should get more pets..." Six noted, thinking of the dogs that Old Lady Gibson had.

"I disagree." Arcade took a sip of his water.

Six glared at him.

"You should get a cat!" Veronica suggested.

Rex growled.

Six smiled, "How about a rat?"

He whimpered.

"He hates hats, rats, cats... bats?" She raised her eyebrows.

Rex huffed and placed himself back on the floor where he curled up by Boone's feet.

Six wanted to ask Boone to go with her since he was a damn good shot, plus she just wanted to be near him, but after last night she turned to Veronica and Cass. "Up for some action?"

The two girls nodded.

"Anything to get away from Mr. Doom and Gloom," Cass groaned. Boone didn't react to her jab at him.

"Okay," Six nodded. "We'll leave in a couple of hours. Pack lots of food and water."

The Courier was undressed, ready to pull on her armor when her door opened. There wasn't even a knock. Boone entered and shut the door behind him. She quickly covered her chest as best as she could and leapt onto the bed, crossing her legs.

"Sorry," He mumbled, not sounding like he cared at all. He turned around, not even being polite enough to leave the room.

She tugged the blanket over her body, covering herself to her collarbone.

Boone turned and she wished that he was blushing. She wished that he'd seen her and approved. She wished that he was the slightest bit attracted to what he'd seen.

"So," he began, making his way towards her, sitting himself on the bed. "You're taking the girls with you instead?"

She nodded, willing her cheeks to stop blushing.

"I kind of expected to go."

"Three's already a crowd," She said, looking him in the eyes. He knows I like him. Her blush was back with a vengeance.

"You're not bringing me because of last night."

She didn't expect him to be so blunt. For a moment all she could do was stare. Then she reluctantly nodded.

"Don't worry about what I think of you. We're still in this together."

She bit her lip. He was so close to her. She felt... so alone. "We're in what together, Boone?"

"This... situation. Whatever you decide with the NCR or House. Even if you decide to do nothing."

"So if I just stayed here, you'd still be here?"

"More or less."

"Even if I didn't go fight the Legion? What would you do then?"

He shrugged. "I know you. You couldn't sit still. You'd venture out and bump into them somewhere. I know you don't really like the Strip."

She bit her lip again, then met his eyes. Maybe? She adjusted her sitting position so that she was on her knees, still covered up. Then she put a hand on his shoulder while the other held the blanket to her chest. She waited. He didn't move. Six leaned forward, bringing her lips to his, kissing him tentatively, lightly pressing her lips against his. Still he didn't move. She wiggled so that she was closer and so that more of them was touching. She still held the blanket to her chest, but her other hand moved to his face and she lovingly stroked the stubble on his cheek. She kissed him again, this time pressing her lips firmly against his and feeling their wonderful softness. His mouth moved against hers and he bit her lip as he pushed against her, causing her to lean back.

Her breath caught in her throat when his hands went to her back. He pulled her closer and her heart thundered in her chest. The hand that was holding the comforter was stuck between the two of them so she moved her arm, letting the blanket stay pinned where it was while she wrapped her arms around his neck. His hands slid slowly down her back and her breathing became heavier. He put his hands on her hips and slowly pulled back. His eyes met hers and suddenly something in them changed and he just looked at her. He didn't say anything. He only grabbed the blanket and handed it back to her so that it wouldn't fall when he got up and left.

She stared wide eyed at the door as he shut it behind him, her heart still pounding, and her stomach full of butterflies.

What in the world was that? She wondered, sinking back onto the bed.
