The Kiss

Chapter 14

Maura and Jane walk into the precinct. Jane still not steady on her feet , Maura holds onto her arm supporting Jane. They enter an empty elevator to go to see Korsak who had called Jane.

Jane wraps her arms around Maura pulling her in for a tight embrace. As all the memories of the night Jane was attacked by Erin floods Jane mind she lets out a small sob as she puts her head down on Maura's shoulder.

Maura holds her "It's going to be alright . I'll be right by your side through it all. If it gets to be too much just touch my hand. I'll get you out of there okay?"

Jane takes a shaky breath nods her head on Maura's shoulder and softly says " Thank you...I love you."

Maura gently pushes Jane back and her head off her shoulder. She brushes Jane's hair away from her face and smiles at her. "I love you too, I always have." Maura kisses Jane.

They break their kiss stepping away from each other as the elevator doors open to the homicide squad room. Korsak raises his head seeing Jane and Maura walking toward him.

Korsak waves them over to him. Maura leads Jane over to his desk and they sit down. "Jane how are you doing?"

Jane nods at Korsak "I'm okay . How is Sharon?"

Korsak rolls his eyes as he shakes his head . He can't believe Jane is worried about her. "Sharon , well she's crazy … Jane she raped a woman. You can't really be here to defend a rapist are you Jane?"

Maura puts her hand on Jane's shoulder to comfort her. Jane was confused why she was really there too says "Korsak I ...I don't know. I need to talk to her. I need to know what happened and why. Maybe she had a complete psychotic break. She was an abused woman . I need to find out for myself please Vince, let me talk to her?"

Korsak takes a deep breath thinking about whether Jane should talk to Sharon. He lets out the breath says "Okay Jane, you can talk to her but only until her shrink and lawyer get here."

Maura helps Jane as she gets up slowly . "Thanks Vince."

"You guys go wait in interrogation room #3 , I'll send her in." Jane and Maura nod as they walk toward the interrogation room."

Jane sits down at the table in the interrogation room. She is nervously drumming her fingers on the table as her left leg is bouncing wildly up and down under the table. Maura pulls up a chair and sits closely next to Jane.

Maura puts a hand around Jane's waist and then tries to calm her down "Jane it's going to be okay. I think Sharon has had a psychotic break ,we can get her help."

Jane furrows her brow looking at Maura "But she raped a woman Maura. How could she do that ? Crazy or not ...I ..I just don't understand how she cou.."

The door opens as a guard brings in Sharon . Her hands and feet are shackled together. They listen to the chains rattling against each other as the guard sits her down at the table across from Jane and Maura. The guard leaves locking the door behind her.

Sharon is wild eyed and trying to focus on Jane . She tries to reach her handcuffed hands out to touch Jane " Jane you're here , you're here thank God. Get me out of here Jane."

Jane looks at her trying not to let her emotions show "Sharon I can't get you out of here. You … you raped a woman. How could you have done that Sharon? After Erin raped you and did all she did to you . You do the same to another woman. Explain that to me please Sharon?"
Sharon shakes her head no . "No rape...no, no , no I didn't rape her. She wanted me to do it to her...Erin told me she wanted it and liked it. "

Jane and Maura look at each other not believing what Sharon was saying to them . Jane rubs her face in frustration with her hand "How could you possibly believe she wanted ….. Erin is dead Sharon . You shot her don't you remember that?"

Sharon smiles "She's still around though. She talks to me all the time. She talks about you a lot."

Maura is furious she stands up and yells at Sharon "That's enough! Stop it right now! Erin is dead I did her autopsy. She is not talking to you. You need psychiatric help Sharon."

Jane grabs Maura's shirt and eases her back down into her seat. "It's okay Maura , I'm okay. I need to hear this please." Maura calming down nods as she stares at Sharon still upset at her.

Sharon plays with the chains on her handcuffs "I didn't think you'd be upset with me Jane. Erin told me how much you enjoyed it when she did those things I taught her to do to you. So I don't see how you'd be mad now."

A hot flash of bright light went through Jane thoughts . Did she hear that right ? Sharon taught Erin? Jane shakes her head still not believing it. She stares at Sharon asks "You taught Erin? What the fuck are you talking about?" Anger is building throughout Jane's whole body.

Maura holds Jane down in her seat as she looks at Sharon waiting for her answer.

"Yes Jane of course I did. Admittedly Erin ..." Sharon laughs "Erin said she didn't like it at first either when I did all those things to her. But after a few months she told me she liked it. Especially when I told her she had to do it to other women. She really liked doing that... Really liked doing it with you when I told her to. Oh and sorry Maura I told her to do it with you but she wouldn't . I punished her for not doing it don't worry Maura ."

Jane and Maura's bodies were shaking with anger and confusion . They were in shock just staring at Sharon. Slowly Jane got up but Maura tried to pull her back down .

"No Maura it's fine I need to talk to her. I can't sit down anymore." Jane paces around Sharon trying to get her emotions under control.

Sharon laughs watching Jane circle her. "C'mon Jane when are you getting me out of here. I'm bored."

Jane turns away from her . She is so angry she punches a hole in the wall with her fist. Maura stands up and goes to her.

Jane brushes her off "I'm fine Maura really go sit. I'm fine." Jane walks slowly up to Sharon . She gets almost nose to nose with Sharon. "I would fucking kill you now if I had my gun. You shot Erin didn't you? It wasn't self defense was it?"

Sharon bends down and puts her hands over her mouth as she giggles "No it wasn't . I shot her. But Jane I asked her very nicely to go pay Maura another visit and try again. She said no to me Jane. No one says no to me. So I had to kill her. You know what I'm saying right Jane?"

Jane is ready to erupt as she rubs her hands on her face. She takes one look at Maura's face that looks horrified at the thought of what Sharon had planned for Erin to do to her. That was enough for Jane.

"No one fucking hurts Maura!" Jane clenches her hand into fist then swings and backhanded hitting Sharon hard across her face. Then she kicks out the chair out from underneath Sharon and watches her fall to the floor. Jane towers over her and spits down on her face.

Sharon is laying on the floor bleeding from her mouth. She still has a smile on her face. "Jane no one tells me what to do. I 'll do what I want to do. Since Erin won't do it to Maura I guess I'll have to do it. She'll love it just like you did." Sharon laughs loudly

Jane starts taking a run toward Sharon to kick her but Maura stops her. "No Jane she's not worth it. She's insane leave her."

"But Maura I …." Jane looks into Maura's eyes starts to calm down a little. It starts to sink in that Sharon will never be free again to hurt Maura. Sharon will either be in prison or a psychiatric facility for the rest of her life. Maura holds Jane in her arms trying to calm her down.

Sharon manages to sit upright on the floor. She spits out some blood smiles "Awww how cute you two are. See now I could teach you Maura how to treat Jane just like she wants if you let me."

Maura furious yells "Shut your mouth ! Not another word or I'll let Jane hit you again."

Sharon chuckles and holds up one finger "Just one more thing. If you won't let me teach you . Well you can just watch the tape of when Erin and Jane were together . You can learn what to do to Jane from the tape. How's that sound Maura?"

Jane and Maura turn in horror looking at Sharon . Furious at the thought of a tape of Jane being raped by Erin was out there somewhere.

Jane bends down grabs Sharon by her prison jumpsuit bunches it up in her hands "Where is the tape ?"

"Get me out of here and I'll tell you." Sharon looks over to Maura and smiles. "I have your tape too Maura. But I don't like it . It was just sex really boring."

Jane clenches her jaw she was so mad she grips the jumpsuit and lifts Sharon up off the ground and slams her down on a chair.

Jane gets in her face and says "Listen to me carefully . Either you tell me where the tapes are or I'll fucking k.." Jane stops when she hears a noise.

It was the door opening hitting back against the wall as Korsak and Frost walks in the interrogation room.

Korsak sees the blood on Sharon's face. He looks at Jane and Maura "Is everything okay ?"

Sharon looks at Korsak "Yeah I just fell off my chair." She laughs.

Jane and Maura look at each other confused and relieved Sharon said she fell.

Frost seeing Jane's fist is bloody knows better but decides to handle the situation. "Ah Jane if you guys are done talking with your friend. Korsak and I will take over and you can leave ...now."

Maura takes Jane by her arm as they both nod and start walking out toward the door. Jane touches Frost's arm says "Thank you." Jane and Maura leave the room. Korsak closes the door.

Maura and Jane walk out and leave the precinct. On the drive back to Maura's "Maura we have to find those tapes. I think we need to tear apart their apartment today."

Maura nods " But it's illegal without a warrant Jane. Sharon might have been lying about tapes . She was trying to get out of there with your help right?"

Jane thinks for a second "Yeah maybe not I just can't take the chance that there are tapes ."

"Jane didn't you set up the video camera at Erin's?"

"Um yeah but I didn't see any camera already there that could have taped us. I put the camera in after we were there. So maybe she is bluffing us."

They get to Maura's house and plop themselves down on her couch. Maura is worried "What are we going to do Jane if there are tapes?"

Jane holds Maura's hand "Don't worry I'll figure something out." Jane leans over and gives Maura a kiss.

Maura smiling "We will figure something out together." Jane nods and smiles.

Jane's cell rings "Rizzoli...yeah...but ….how? We'll be waiting here at Maura's house."

Maura looking worried at Jane "What Jane ? Who was that?"

Jane takes Maura in her arms and gives her a quick kiss . She gets up "Wait here I need to get my gun. I'll be right back."

Maura shook her head no got up and follows Jane "Tell me Jane you're scaring me."

Jane finds her gun checks to make sure it's loaded . "Come sit with me and I'll tell you."

They sit down on the couch again . Jane looks at Maura "Korsak was who called me. He has sent squad cars already they are on there way here..."

Maura nervously asks "What is it Jane? What happened?"

Jane clears her throat and chokes out "Sharon escaped, they don't know where she is."

Maura panics "Oh no Jane!"

Jane holds her tight "They are sending squad cars Korsak and Frost are coming. Don't worry they'll find her. And I'll protect you until then okay?"

Maura nods and whispers softly "I love you Jane."

"I love you Maura."

They hear a something crash against the front door...
