Chapter 14: Summon to Moonset
(Season Finale Part 3-Final)
Channel Jones [*!] had vividly recalled the day Marcus had announced his divorce over the radio. Her husband Jacob had learned of the event the day prior, and like most of the early morning hours the two of them planned out a show around the issue of divorce for their "Lean on the Listeners" segment. Channel herself was invited as a guest host that day to describe for the listener, as well as Mark, her experience in a divorce and what it did to her family. Marcus focused a lot on his seven year old pair of daughters who, as he described, didn't take the news well. The advice given by the faithful listeners those many years ago left a lasting impact, on the three of them.
However, seven years after that incident, a new trial in life hit all three with brute force. Marcus had conceded his joint custody day majority for the time being, after he and Jacobi had had their contracts expire. Although Jacobi had rapport with fans throughout the five boroughs in the city, he'd yet to land a new gig, and Channel still had difficulty with employment. On the night of New Year's Eve however, it was clear that their usual task of enjoying the nights in the club zone would continue especially if someone like Mitix would throw them a few bones.
Mitchell had brought it to the attention of Mark and Jacobi that they could be in the club so that they could catch the ears of other radio stations. However he'd also hoped that their presence in his club would net him at least two rewards. One would be the fan base they left behind, which was in strong numbers to spark popularity. The second would be a long term endorsement of which ever radio station decided to pick them up, although he kept this desire in the dark from even those working with him. Channel had deduced this much however, but held her tongue as the demographic that adhered to the club scene wouldn't get in the way of her and her husbands' financial necessities.
"How's everyone doing tonight?" Mitix said into the microphone after ordering Mark to lower the music and got resounding cheer that echoed throughout the club, "The name is Mitix as you can see it's barely seven thirty! A few more hours and everyone can chime in the next year-now I want everyone here to enjoy the first singer…Ms. Racheal Cove and some of her boys!"
Out of the lightly lit section of the club came a beautiful girl with bright red lipstick wearing a burgundy top as well as a few men dressed in matching kaki pants. Each one of them shook the host's hand proudly and manned their desired instruments. Mitix pointed out Mark who flicked one switch at his disposal and cleared the way for their performance.
Channel held her husband's hand and pointed out the boy she'd met when the doors had first opened, "He's stepping out just like you thought Jacobi."
"Some girl out there is about to get stung," her husband snickered in her ear, "Think so?"
"Oh hush-just watch," she teased.
Lelouch walked past the security guard out of the VIP section while waving his gold bracelet and received only a nod. His companions, even Villeta, had dispersed into the crowd to mingle. Almost immediately after stepping free of the yellow line barrier of the VIP section, he was pulled aside and forced to sit down in one of the plush booths with two girls and a boy no older than him. He gave no resistance, and didn't mind that the large breasted girl beside him had clamped onto his arm. A female weightier, adorned in a purple glitter dress that shone all over when hit by light, set down some food right at the center of the circular table on a tray, while her co-worker set out drinks for the four of them.
"Mr. Sophistication," the boy closest to Lelouch murmured loud enough so that his two female companions could hear while tapping his four fingers on the table lightly, "The names OG Styles."
"It's nice to meet you," Lelouch replied bluntly and watched Styles pick up the green tinted glass in front of him that was filled with soda to take a drink with the help of a hard black straw, "I assume this is for me?"
By the time he'd gotten a nod of affirmation the live music began to play, which Lelouch instantly noted as one of Katy Perry's colorful songs. [1] At first the crowd was silent but the talent behind the microphone didn't disappoint, as those on the dance floor began to move their feet to the beat.
"The sandwich and the coke…for sho-also you should meet my girls," Style's gestured and set down the glass to watch the bubbles of fizz continue to rise.
"I'm Jo-See," the girl who held his arm whispered.
"Call me Loraine."
"I will from this moment forward Ms," He replied to the girl on his left and took a sip of his apparent complementary beverage that had started to accumulate a little sweat, "Styles do you really think what you said of me?"
"Yeah…you're smart-I didn't know half the shit you said on the radio…but I did know it was smart."
"I appreciate that-now," Lelouch paused and looked at the ice float about the sugary drink, "Why did you take me hostage?"
"You don't like us?" Loraine asked and rested her chin on his shoulder.
"I don't mind the accommodations if that's what you're implying," he replied and stroked her hair with his free hand that made her smile and lean back like a child. Styles took one of the french fries off his plastic plate for a bite, taking notice of how he treated Loraine.
"We wanted to thank you before anyone else took the chance," Jo-see said cheerfully as she made a grab for the food she'd requested.
"You were cold with that bucket mouth hoe last week," Styles remarked but didn't take notice of Lelouch who shuddered at the statement but continued enjoying the tune that continued.
"I…I recall each word I told her-but none of the words cut through enough to make a difference it seemed," Lelouch replied and found that both his hands were taken causing him to be less tense, "After all she didn't really change herself after that."
"Sometimes you just gotta give up on people," The boy next to him said bluntly and shook his head as if knowing just what he said was bad, "It's not your fault she's like that."
"Yes I know," Lelouch conceded and interlocked his fingers with that of the girls' beside him, "But I still care enough to pray that she wasn't…I'd like to convince her and everyone else like her otherwise."
"You sound like you care a lot about others than yourself," Jo-see whispered and put his hand onto the table, "You're just you and not them."
"Exactly smart boy," the other girl chimed in allowed him to put his arm around her waist, "Worry about you before someone else-everyone does that…just like Sarah did…don't worry either-you won't end up like her."
Lelouch looked over at Styles as if knowing he'd have something to add and was right, "Sarah just got full of herself…you need this balance…yah feel me? Balance it out…like…imma help this person out and I'm gonna do this for myself."
"You're all wiser beyond your years," Lelouch said to them over the musical troughs, "I'll take what you've said into consideration."
Loraine put a hand on his back so that she could rub some of his stress away and saw him grimace, "Oh are you okay?"
"Yes…my back is just sore-for more than one reason," Lelouch whispered and looked across the room to see some of his friends in the midst of the lively atmosphere.
When Ms. Cove left the stage, to cheers that emanated from wall to wall, her host again took the stage. Clearance was convinced he and Mitchell were on the right track to success booking such young talent as he stepped onto the stage. It was time for him to shine, and with one move worth of Olympic judging, he jumped off the stage with a back flip. Clarence clutched the microphone the entire time and immediately brought it to his mouth when he landed on his feet.
"The man on the table…you're beloved Mark-fresh off the air waves and into the club-will take requests so we keep this party rolling!" Y-per shrieked just as the first of many more tracks began to play, "Move your feet! Robin Thick. [2]"
Ward was the closest to Clarence, whom he met the day before, and didn't know he had such spirit in him, although it was to be expected of hype man. The people around him responded instantly to music, and soon even he was dancing while Clarence cut through the crowd pumping his fist.
Diamond was impressed by her brother's performance as almost everyone around her, even the bar tenders, couldn't help but keep a smile as they too basked in the music. Denise noticed Clarence run up to them with a straight face that oozed happiness.
"I fucking did it didn't I?" he asked his sisters with a tone of cheer and took note of the LA boys he met meet new dance partners on the floor, "Hey where's Lelouch at?"
"Right there with a pimp and two hoes," Denise pointed the boy out then plucked out a water bottle for her brother, "And boy I know you're a hype but that's too much shit-you coulda broke your neck."
"Girl cmon…I'm straight," Clarence laughed and licked his lips after drinking the water, "Let me go hit up Mitix."
"Check the kitchen," his sister ordered set down a whit napkine in front of another customer before placing a blue colored drink atop it.
In the back entrance of the club sat one of the security guards who had finally been rotated in the system so that he could take a breather. Around him the wind blew and the chill of the night splashed in his face. One stick of tobacco, with its brown filter firmly tucked in his lips, shone a bright orange. A cracked open door behind him allowed the music from indoors to seep out, as if luring any stray party goers.
Some took the bait, and like shadows they moved through the darken alley sticking close to the walls. The five individuals moved swiftly and in one line, even their footsteps fell in perfectly with one another leaving only a single trail. With one step around the smoking guard, each and every one slipped through the open door knowing very well they weren't noticed.
The boys slowly but surely made their way down the hallway close to the kitchen where they were greeted by the sounds of workers. A wafting sent of food filled their nostrils and the warmth of the indoors enticed them to continue pressing forward. One of the cooks had stepped right passed them, not noticing their group but they heard one more coming. They'd dodged so many bullets in such a quick time that they thought that their night would be ruined in an instant.
"Kenneth my nigga you made it," one of the men working in the kitchen said surprisingly as he turned the corner.
"What's up dog…we clear?" Kenneth asked and removed his hood.
"Just this gap," his friend pointed out the hall, "Go for it-fast as you can."
"Roll through man roll through," Kenneth heard someone from behind him say and quickly passed through the bright lights into the darker hall.
When Mitchell entered the Kitchen he saw everyone working at a break neck speed, and admired the quick ticket times those outside were getting. He had taken to the room simply for a small meal of his own, while everyone else was enjoying the dancing. However his hired hand, and partner, Clarence had to get in the way of him and his last bite.
"Man it's hot out there!"
"Too hot-I wore myself out," Mitix snickered and rubbed his forehead, "Needed a bite…now go out there and keep your eyes open-I'll be right there."
"Man I'm all ears-eyes everything! I'm better than my uncle out there!" Y-per shrieked amongst the pots and pans that clanked together just as four more young boys took to the same path Kenneth had taken, "Hey Brick-Brick!"
Brick, one of the cooks, put himself in between the open walkway that lie between the route outside to the left and the club to the right just as he heard his name being called.
"Keep it up Brick-hold down this shit," Clarence laughed and played around with the white hat he wore like a toy, "I gotta step back out there."
Villeta yawned walking back from the restroom and paid no mine to the five boys who walked passed her knowing none of them were her own. She was feeling sleepy already attempting to supervise the free spirits that were tethered to her. Lelouch had also taken his leave to mingle, which had disappointed her to the point where she felt it was pointless to even try and find him. Villeta felt someone of his character could be the lifeblood of the party had he merely waived his self-restraint. It seemed that everyone who even met him had wanted to get closer and unlock what was beneath the persona he put on.
"Yo Vili check this out!" Tevan pleaded and flailed his arms before running away.
"What is it Tevan?"
"Look who it is!" he pointed out Lelouch on stage and which surprised Villeta who immediately rushed passed him, "Hey girl you can't just run up in there!"
Again Lelouch found himself in the spotlight, which was all the more real now, sitting side by side with Jacobi and Mark without the barrier of the studio to conceal them. The applause and lights shone on them gave Lelouch the feeling he was more a part of theatre now, with the party goers transforming into an audience.
"These are the famous men I promised would be here tonight: Lelouch Lamperouge, Marcus Teller, and Jacob Jones [*!]."
"Thank you for the introduction Mitix," the youngest said with the mic now in his face.
Mitix knew just what to ask Lelouch after having freed him from Styles makeshift blockade of girls, "First we just have to get into what you said to that bitch who was trying to get into your pants."
The laughter filled the club as they dissected Mitchell's comment, even Kenneth and his friends who snuck in from the rear added their voices. Lelouch closed his eyes trying not to show any emotion but tapped the mic with one finger before he spoke.
"I'm sure I've told Michael and Esther…as well as our favorite radio duo here what I want in a woman," Lelouch said bluntly, "She's got look beautiful…and be nice on the inside-she's also got to be able to fend for herself for when I'm not around."
Villeta found a few of her boys huddled together and from their gestures and appearances she could see how far the parties were on such philosophical differences when it came to relationships.
"Now I've read some things over Facebook and Twitter…even You Tube saying that I was showing off in front of my friends-which is one hundred percent ludicrous because when I erupted," Lelouch began to motion with his hands while speaking seriously, "I was thinking of how much I don't like selfish people...I care more about my preferences than I do about doing things just so people can like me."
Mark, who was sitting on the drummer's chair he had commandeered, looked over at the teenager who was freely speaking to the crowd without worry. Jacobi found it hard to follow his words and had been wondering if his peers felt the same.
"I didn't like her because she was…as my friend Herb captured quite well," Lelouch said and motioned to Herb who stood next to the tall KV, "She was a 'Gold digging bitch' looking only for sex and life she'd live through my money plus plenty of other selfish things-like a whore."
Jacobi at the far end laughed next to the grinning Mark who felt Lelouch was getting out of shell being so relaxed, while the audience erupted in laughter again. Although he got more positive responses from the male half of the partygoers than the females, some of whom felt their planned advances were immediately dashed with that comment alone.
"Hehehe-what's that thing you said in French to your crew after that first encounter?" Mitix pressed and gave him complete control of the microphone to which Lelouch immediately responded.
"I said 'J'appelle un chat un chat' meaning I tell it like it is," He said through the mic while looking directly into his mass of peers who took a step back hearing the beautiful language of French, "What happened after I left was out of my hands-and I stand by what I said to my olf boss…I do not care what she did to Mark and Jacobi's audience…because I wasn't the, to quote Herb again, 'The crazy bitch' who wrecked the place."
Mark pulled the microphone away under the guise of more fan laughter to say, "Me and Jacobi can sort of agree with you Lelouch-I mean don't give this boy…that bad of a time because it was someone acting out anger alone who did what she did."
"My boy here's right it wasn't Lelouch's fault for some crazy lady trying to kill us," Jacobi said with a tone that sounded sarcastic, "No I'm serious-she was just trying to let it all out on whatever he touched. But Lelouch didn't tell her to do that crap and I sure as hell no he didn't tell her call one of his friends and co-workers a 'Nigger' either now did he?"
"Yeah she called me that!" Ward shrieked aloud and stepped towards the stage into the light, and saw that Jacobi had lowered the mic down to him to speak, "I aint even sweating though- I mean your girl Esther took it to her and knocked her eyes straight-so I took it all in stride you know what I'm saying"
Villeta passed by the chuckling girls who sat behind her near the stage as Ward passed the mic back and watched Lelouch's grin grow continuously.
"Whomever said she was 'Crazy' was right-I mean she was in there breaking the hood off of her car…and the part I just liked the most out of all that stuff-is at the end where she's dragging all of the chairs under her car and one of your friends said, 'Did you get all that?'"
"Oh yeah my homie Brandon said that-and it had perfect timing," Ward said into the mic still chuckling
"Hahaha okay let's move on now to Mark and Jacobi!" Mitix said and turned to the pair of men next to him.
A resounding applause, that even Lelouch contributed too, shook the club as the two DJ's raised their hands to wave. Mitchell however felt a tug on his long sleeved shirt that came from Lelouch who seemed to be asking for the mic.
"Oh do you mind?"
"Go for it," Mitchell consented and relinquished the microphone to Lelouch before he stepped back.
"I shall ask you the questions all of us want to know," Lelouch murmured into the microphone, "I had heard from Y-per…as well as your fans in the city…of a petition to save your show."
"Yeah and the boss man didn't give a damn about it…he still kicked our asses to curb and the show," Jacobi reacted and shrugged at the question hearing the boos, "Guy's name is Keith."
"How did you two not know your contracts were going to expire-isn't something like that you should've kept tabs on?"
"We forgot-it's that simple," Mark answered the question, "We only saw our contract one time and that was back in 1999…what do you expect?"
"So what is next for you in this free agency period?" Lelouch posed another question nearly everyone had wanted to ask, albeit differently.
"We just don't know yet-both of us," Jacobi answered seriously knowing he left the fans uneasy, "But me and my boy here have no plans to drop the mic at all though."
"Well…I'll ask everyone else," Lelouch said into mic and walked to the center of the stage to ask, "How many of you here would switch over to another radio station just to hear your favorite radio men Mark and Jacobi?"
"Hell yeah I'd do that!" The security guard nearest to the front entrance shrieked and raised his hand along with everyone else in the room that erupted with similar responses.
"I'll be sure to find some way of hearing your voices when you both do land that new job-you can guarantee that," Lelouch said happily to the duo, "Los Angeles or not."
"One more round of applause for all three of these men! In one way or another they conquered this city!" Mitix said into the mic that Lelouch handed off like a baton, "Now it's time to get the party goin-Mark hit the next track! Lelouch go back to your seat! Jacobi-your girl want's yah hahaha!"
Two of them did leave the stage in high spirits except for Mark who didn't need to travel far to touch the red button lit laptop. The DJ, whose smile was wide as could be, searched the desired song Mitix had requested of him and glided his finger about the square to control the arrow. Mitchell tossed the microphone in the air over to Y-per who ran to take command the moment he caught it. With one left click of the laptop's mouse pad, and Clarence's stylish performance the entire mood of the club changed for the better.
"Can this ceiling hold us! Macklemore! Ryan Lewis [3]! Get to your feet!"
Lelouch had no opportunity to walk clear out of the way as Villeta pulled him onto the dance floor as if she'd come right out of the blue. Trotting passed him were a few of his friend's, as well as his driver Jason and Styles with his girls. He had extensive knowledge of dance and didn't disappoint his boss who kept him in close proximity.
Music enticed all the attendees to move about the floor to its every rhythm. The bar tenders Diamond and Denise swayed from side to side in the small space they had while the security had melted away into the crowd. Behind the lavish decorates, in the kitchen, the cooks danced in place as they continued to exercise their knowledge of culinary arts. One speaker alone, which hung atop the white wall, amongst the foodstuffs was enough to satisfy the chefs who were amongst the shiny reflecting silver of their kitchen.
The energy of the entire building was electric and the number of flashes from the cellphones of the partiers, wishing to capture the moment, only personified it. Mitchell, who still stood atop the stage, saw the swarm of people grow and almost move as one. With every sway of the foot, and darting dance moves, eyes met and skinned touched. The music encouraged even those waltzing around to sing along, adding yet another flavorful ingredient to the atmosphere that looked impossible to ruin.
By the time Richard had checked the clock on his phone, it was already eleven. It was only a miracle that even he noticed the time as he was already drunk and loaded after having fallen victim to the fumes of a joint he'd purchased for himself. His drunken state came from some beer that his relatives had snatched away from their parents down stairs. The sheer amount of fumes brought about by a single spark had done a number on everyone. Only he and Nick remained awake but were a far cry from alert, as their vision and reflexes had become impaired.
Richard used the remained of his strength, ignoring the strain he felt in his chest, to sit up in the recliner and check the one text that sat in a white box in the top right corner of the phone's glowing screen. By just gliding his thumb down he brought up the message, noting that it was from his friend who lived in Queens. Attached was one picture that was clear as could be, displaying Lelouch who sat on stage with a few prominent people he'd only heard via the radio.
"What is it Rich?" Nick asked and sat up from the bed just enough to notice the other boys lying about the room.
"Lelouch is in a club…with those niggas again…Ken-sent a pic," Richard said clearly but weakly and tried his best to show him from where he sat but Nick simply laid back feeling the effects of so much smoke.
"We should…should get over there and fuck the whole place up-ah…fuck it," Nick sneered and coughed, "Fuck Lelouch…good riddance…ah-I can't even move."
"The guy who gave me this shit…said it was stronger than the pebbles he always pushed…it's fucking great," the other boy said to him but to no avail as his cousin had already fallen into a deep sleep. He too surrendered to the drowsiness and allowed the screen to fade in color because of time. Richard was so sleepy and feeble that the phone slipped from his grip and onto the floor with Lelouch's picture still on full screen. His cousin's portrait only disappeared as more time dripped away and faded to black.
The party showed no signs of dying out from Kenneth's perspective, as the local talent continued to take to the stage at YOLO-ISM. Although he and his friend's couldn't necessarily enjoy it to the fullest as he'd become drunk. When he saw the square Lelouch walk by with Villeta around his arm, he flinched a little as if knowing he knew that he didn't belong. Yet he was surprised as Lelouch paid him no mine and thought only that he wasn't noticed.
"Want to listen to the next group coming up together?" Villeta asked him sweetly within the pause of music.
"Sure I'd love that right now," Lelouch answered and walked close to a pillar so that the two of them could rest their against it, ignoring the minimal pain that still lingered on his back.
"Ladies and gentlemen…OG Styles-with his girls Jo-See, Saint Loraine and the rest of their crew," Y-per said with a lighter but happier tone, "J. Cole with the Crooked Smile. [4]"
Lelouch immediately grinned at the sight of the same trio he'd been with and rested his head against Villeta's shoulder. After so much time on his feet participating in the merriment, he had grown tired but there was an urge to chime in the New Year with everyone around. The boy felt Villeta prop him up by getting behind him so that he could lean back on her even though he was drifting into sleep. The opening beat of the song, sung by the two girls, was so soothing that he and the entire mass had reacted with quieted silence.
The woman stared at the performers on stage and held her young worker up by his waist. She pressed her breasts up against his back, knowing he was so powerless to move away. A bright blush filled his cheeks and the tempo of the lyrics that swayed in and out were relaxing enough that he let his reserved nature soak them up. Villeta put her chin on his shoulder and leaned her head closer to his while bringing her right arm around to place her hand on his chest. Without thinking much, other than wanting to be closer, Lelouch brought up his hand to meet hers and made sure that their fingers locked together.
Around the two close bodied pair was the audience who had come to a standstill with smiles that marked each of their faces. They'd all become relaxed, even some of the livelier folks who had been boisterous on the dance floor had been talked into calming down with the lyrics. Villeta and her new boy weren't the only two take to one another's warmth, as others in the club had decided to break the touch barrier. A small chorus of claps grew lightly out of this mass, acting as natural speaker, while those up on stage knew very well that they'd exceeded their expectations even as they continued to sing. This thought had only been solidified as their audience had chimed in with their own voices that flew smoother than any of them even expected. [5!]
Devante recalled the applause that Styles and his crew garnered and was glued to the dance floor for the ten minutes that followed. By the time he had made it back to the VIP section he and the others were there relaxing. Especially Lelouch who had his eyes shut, but his mouth still opening to slip a few words out.
"I'm falling asleep," Lelouch chuckled lightly and moved his head from side to side as he rested on a plush couch, "This atmosphere is too good to miss."
"Lelouch man this whole place is off the chain you can't fall asleep on us now-you'll be like my cuz…bought a movie ticket and fell asleep during the previews," Devante complained with a laugh, "Course I stayed up."
"That seems like a great comparison," Louch said as he sat up right and opened his eyes, "But if all of this was a preview…how could it possibly get better?"
"I got something that can get you off your feet for more than one reason," KV said sternly and nodded aloud just as Mitix walked in to find them.
"This off the chain aint it?" The host questioned as he clutched a can of cherry pepsi, that was out of place for the club.
"Hell yeah it is-mind if I sing next," KV asked seriously, and got a response from Villeta who had been keeping an eye on Lelouch.
"Kevin what the hell are you saying?" his boss questioned being startled and watched Daren and Tevan stand up with him.
"We can do this…trust us," KV whispered into the host's ears whose face lit up with a wide grin, "So yeah? Can we do it?"
"Hell yeah you can do it…you got this," Mitix said and waved for Clarence to meet him, "Get your ass over here Y-per!"
"KV what you doin?" Devante pressed with a puzzled tone as he was lost in space.
"Y-per…these three wanna go on deck next…say they can do it," Mitix informed his spokesman who was skeptical until KV whispered in his ear, "Go! All ya all get up there!"
"Follow them so they don't do anything stupid," Villeta ordered the boys but felt Lelouch nudge her from behind.
"Just stick with them," Lelouch murmured and lightly blinked sheathing his violet eyes as he was feeling the effects of being so active.
Villeta frowned but did obey his request and left with the boys who were making their way for the stage, but wasn't there in time to see Clarence step up first with the mic stuck in his hand.
"Okay everyone listen up…we gotta be West Coast friendly just for a bit-as you know we got Lelouch's crew here from Los Angeles- so give them some respect alright?" Clarence ordered and didn't so much as receive a negative response, "First lets set the scene…it's going to 2014 very soon-now just because we're going forward…that doesn't mean we can't look back-KV! Tevan! Daren! Take it out there!"
"What's New York-I'm a brother from Oakland," KV chimed in on the microphone and was surprised with the applause as he'd been more or less profiled hours before, "Now let's take it back ten years! Darius! Boyd! Osgood man-step up! I need you two up here too cmon!"
Darius and Boyd had no clue what their friend was up to until he whispered his plan into their ears as well. Both of the boys instantly flocked to the wings on the stage and pointed out the others to take their positions. KV made sure that each one of them had also manned their own mics before he shook his fist to start the beat [6]. The club scene had gotten even better than the others could've hoped to imagine.
"Oh my god!" reacted one girl whose friends immediately flocked onto the dance floor.
"I haven't heard this shit since I was a kid!" Jason, who was close to a security guard, chimed in with enthusiasm and thought that he was going to tackle KV outta joy alone.
Netrix put his hands on his head unable to keep his teeth sheathed by the lyrics of the song, and didn't notice Lelouch who was almost limping to see his friend's on stage
KV: When we pull up to the light, the people all stare, niggas in the Benz
with the dread lock hair, smoke everywhere, waving at Madeline on them
woodgrain Davins with the license plate rattlin
Doin what we want to, hangin out the sunroof, we mental we're ignorant, boy
we dumb dude, gas break dip, we call it yoking, do a donut in the yo whip, we call it doisn,
Get stupid, is what we do good, ghost ride the whip while we dancing on the hood.
I'm amped feelin good, ponta I'm hyphy, in a bitch face with a thizz face of a Nike,
The women like me, im dipped in butta, I'll rob your brotha pimp the blood out your motha,
I'm mister stupid doo doo dumb, Sumthin terrible tell em how we come!
The entire mass of the crowd chimed in all at once and Lelouch's Los Angeles friends were unable to contain themselves as KV was pulling it off. However, as he heard the chant he had nearly been given an anxiety attack. Lelouch widened his eyes and made a cutting motion across his own throat as a signal for KV to follow, but the man on the mic merely pointed him out of the crowd and continued. What he didn't know however was that many others who felt they were under the radar were not as nearly as fearful. [7]
Lelouch wanted to hide but found himself encompassed within the mass when the security guard behind him pushed him aside to join in. He sighed at this but couldn't help but smile at his friend's display of talent, especially the song as it was catchy as it threaded a fine line. Herb couldn't contain himself and patted the boy on the shoulder knowing where his fears lied.
"Have you heard this song before?" Herb questioned with a pitch that could cut through the volume of the music to reach Lelouch.
"Yes I've heard before!" Lelouch shook his head as he'd regained feeling in his legs, "But he's about to give us all away!"
"Naw homie check out that nigga who pushed you out the way dancing with everyone like he couldn't ten years ago!" Merit shrieked in his ear and looked back up on the stage to see KV feel the flow of his song.
Mark and Jacobi, who stood side by side, had remembered the boy's choice of music very vividly. As DJs they'd always heard tracks that even they admitted would be rotated with popularity. However the feelings possessed by the populace were only part of what they looked at when making selection because they'd also took into account the calendar. The music of the previous decade was a far cry from their current era, and even brought about thoughts of the past.
"Those mother fuckers are taking us back!" said the security guard closest to the laughing Jason, "Nigga what you busting up over?"
"That one boy there on the side not supposed to be here!" Jason continued to snicker and was sure that the guy next to him heard, "He's only seventeen hahaha!"
"For real? We could let in those boys?" The guard asked him as he clapped.
"Just ask your boss man!" The limo driver said one more time as he stepped into crowd to continue.
A tremendous roar flooded New York City all at once at the stroke of midnight. The cheers were even more heavily concentrated within the well lively club Lelouch and the others were just about ready to leave behind. For them the sound was deafening, and Villeta could've sworn she was left with ringing in the ears.
Mitchell and Clarence had directed them to go to the VIP section to speak in one of the booths, and had invited everyone else they'd met for one final meeting. They included the young couple Esther and Micheal, the disc jockeys Jacob and Marcus, Jacob's wife Channel, Clarence's uncle Theodore as well as his sisters, and Jason the driver.
"It's been sweet-you'll miss us wont you?" Lelouch questioned and brushed the little colorful bits of paper that stuck to his hair and clothes aside.
"You've got mine and Mark's phone number too so you can just phone us when we get the new gig," Jacobi said and gave the boy one last embrace, "Get your ass to sleep-and bundle up."
"Do you think I could get an invitation to your wedding?" Lelouch asked Esther and Michael directly to which they laughed and consented.
"Sure you can-we were going to invite our old bosses right here anyway haha," Esther laughed, "You're very nice any way."
"All you better watch the roads out there-it gets hectic just driving form here to Jersey," Theodore warned as the boys began outfitting themselves with their warm clothing.
"Let me take you back alright-that way I can come back over here and party it up," Jason pressed and dawned his own set of warm clothes as he followed them out, "Hold the front space for me."
And so they left all those they'd met at the club that night, feeling in good spirits. The next day would bring the pavement that led to home. The group of eighteen however didn't know until much later what happened to the YOLO-ISM club of course by that time it was far too late.
It was chilling cold in the dimly lit loft, as if the outside had broken in and stolen the heat that the group had all counted on for their night's sleep. Not one word was spoken, during the trek upstairs except for Lelouch who yawned and needed help. Everyone broke up the group's wholesomeness as they took to their rooms for a snooze. Devante and Darius slipped two ten dollar bills into their dozing friend's pockets before patting him on the back to go back outside for a smoke. From out of his view however, Kairi gestured to Radius with his chin at the sight of Villeta holding him on their way to his room but neither said a word.
Within his room; the tired boy began discarding his clothing into a pile and was the first to get under the plush blankets. He turned away from Villeta whom was following his example in the darkness. Lelouch, whose eyes were shut, didn't so much as look over at the woman whose clothing made noise as they fell to the floor.
"Lelouch," Villeta blushed was she said his name yet heard nothing, "Lelouch."
"We don't need to talk about it…I don't mind tonight," he murmured picturing her standing there with her body as he trailed off.
A little bit of light from outdoors leaked into the bedroom and ever so slightly illuminated her figure. Lelouch's frame under the blankets didn't move, and the woman had finally had enough of his self-restraint feeling she was denied a prize. Villeta got onto the bed with the extra soft sheets brushing against her thighs. She nudged him over with her hands and caught glimpse of his face within the darkness realizing he'd fallen into asleep. Her hands took hold of the blankets beneath her, and tightened her grip considerably but her facial expression never changed from a blank stare.
