"This world has so much to offer, with its technology and its resources, but with our resources, I could make it so much more. With the humans under my command, there would be no need for anything else." Xzura said.
"But why the need for the human control?" The Doctor wanted to know. "Seems to me that you could harness the power yourselves."
"Yes, we could, but it's so much more fun with humans doing our work. Humans are so weak willed and they're so much less intelligent. They just give into the control." Xzura said with a cruel smile.
"Excuse me?!" I started to interject, but The Doctor silenced me with a look. I stopped talking.
"Oh, I don't know about that." He said, walking around the room.
"These humans are nothing more then mindless puppets!" Xzura sneered. "They're nothing compared to our intelligence. They're so weak willed. If they were smarter, they would be able to stop the control, especially the teenagers."
"Now, wait just a minute!" The Doctor said. "They may not be as intelligent as I am, but they've got enough smarts to create many wonderful inventions that have helped mankind. No one has any right to take that away, not even you!"
"Pah!" Xzura said."You negelected to mention those who wanted power. That's why I hired the science teacher. I could sense his quest for power, so I offered him immunity if he would work for us, but sadly his morals got the better of him."
"What did you do to him?!" Casey yelled.
"Oh, we didn't kill him, if that's what you're asking. Xzura said. "We simply locked him up. He started to realize what he was doing was wrong. Of course, it was too late, so we locked him up." She walked over to the hulking aliens. "Moranth, Jard, bring Mr. Atkins out." They nodded and went to fetch Mr. Atkins.
"You know. You really are an awful creature." I said, glaring at her. "Locking up teachers when they realized their mistakes, turning innocent teenagers into your mindless slaves. You really have no morals, do you?"
"Of course not." She said, smiling wickedly. "That reminds me, Boys!" She called, "Unlock the slaves from their room!"
They grunted as they brought back Mr. Atkins, who was in shackles. He looked like he'd seen better days. He was beat up. I felt sorry for him, but at the same time, I felt like he kind of deserved it. He did agree to help capture him.
"I can't believe this." Casey muttered. "This is so wrong." Moranth and Jard came back, leading the teens.
"Ah good. You're back." Xzura said cheerfully, to the student. You two!" She said to two of the biggest boys. "I want to to grab those two girls." She said, pointing to Casey and I. They grabbed us, as we struggled to get out of their grip. The one that was holding Casey, I noticed was her boyfriend, Brad. I knew that she knew that it was him, because her stoic face turned into fear.
"Brad, it's me!" She yelled, tears streaming down her face. "It's Casey!" But Brad showed no sign of recognition. He was a solider obeying the commands given him. Something snapped in Casey, and she was somehow able to wriggle from his grip. Quick as a flash she grabbed my gun from my holster. Before I could do anything, she was holding it to Xzura's chest.
"Casey! What the heck are you doing?!" I yelled. Casey ignored me and continued to hold the gun to Xzura's chest.
"Let them go." She said with a quiet anger.
"And why would I do that?" Xzura said confidently, but with a twinge of fear in her voice.
"Because, you took my friends and my boyfriend. Do you really think I'd let you get away with that. No."
"Casey, please." I begged. "You don't know how to shoot my gun and it's not worth it."
"But I have to do this." She cried, tears streaming down her face. "She's taken everything away from me!"
"No, you don't." The Doctor said gently, walking towards her. "Killing her isn't the answer for revenge." Casey seemed to accept this, because she loosed her grip on the gun. I took it from her and put it back in my holster. I then proceeded to bring her back and hugged her as she sobbed, rubbing her back gently.
Suddenly, Mark nudged me. "You guys may want to see this." He said
"What?" I asked. Both Casey and I looked up to where he was pointing.
"Holy crap!" I whispered. We saw something we'd never thought we'd see. The Doctor was walking with what can only be described as a very angry stride.
"You just caused an innocent girl to almost kill." He said with a quiet hardness to his voice to Xzura, who was smirking. "That is not a good place to stand with me!" He yelled angrily, causing us to jump.
"Ok. Don't make him mad. At all." I muttered to Mark and Casey. We were all a bit frightened of him. We had yet to see him angry, and now that we had, we knew we didn't want to make him angry.
"Oh really." Xzura said. "And what are you going to do about it."
"I'm giving you one chance to let them go." he said quietly, glaring at her.
"You're sorely mistaken." She said. "I would never do that.
"Then you leave me no choice." He said, unlocking Mr. Atkin's shackles with the sonic.
"What's he doing?" Mark whispered. I shrugged my shoulders.
"Mr. Atkins!" He said. "I think I need your help to turn everything off.
"Of course." Mr. Atkins said. "There should be a switch over here somewhere.
"Atkins!" Xzura yelled. "What are you doing?!
"Saving the students." He said. "I realize that I don't want to be powerful. Now, Doctor. If you'll follow me, the controls are over here."
The Doctor followed him. He seemed to be fiddling with the controls for a while, until...
"Aha!" He yelled."Found it!" He pressed a few buttons, and the circular glass exploded, sending the liquid everywhere, including onto all of us.
"Well, that's an experience." I said, blinking and trying to wipe as much as I could off.
