Okay, I am back. Sorry for the delay, I was a little busy with school. Anyway, please relax and enjoy another chapter of Phantom of Justice! By the way, I decided to change the ratings, for safety.
Chapter 13: Depths
Danny, Dani and Jazz were sitting in the kitchen, eating breakfast, kinda. Jazz was staring at Dani with fascination, causing the young half-ghost to feel awkward. Danny, who was trying to eat, decided to stop this.
"Jazz," Danny said, putting his spoon down. "Stop staring at Dani like she's a rare zoo animal, will you? She's been here a few weeks already."
"I can't help it, Danny," Jazz said, giggling. "She is just so cute. It makes me wonder what it would be like if you were a girl."
"Thanks, Jazz," Danny said as he put his spoon down. "I can't wait to see how long it'll take me to live that one down."
He stood up and used his telekinesis to put his bowl to the sink.
"Excuse me, but I need to do something," he said, walking from his two sisters.
"Can I come?" Dani asked, looking at Danny.
"Sorry, Dani," Danny said, looking back. "But it's kinda personal."
Dani pouted, causing Danny to smirk. He patted the girl's head. For weeks, Danny grew fond of Dani. He taught her everything he knew from inventing to using her powers. Dani also developed a sister-like relationship with Cassie and Jazz. She also seems to develop a friendship with Robin, Beast Boy and the newcomer, Impulse.
"How about later we go and get some ice cream, okay little D?" He said, smiling at Dani. "Until then, go hang out with Jazz."
Dani nodded, smiling at her big brother. She walked towards Jazz as Danny grabbed two cans of soda and exited the kitchen. Danny phased through the ground and landed in the grotto, the Memorial. Danny walked through the room, passing the holographic images of their fallen comrades, and stopped in front of Robin's memorial.
"How you been, buddy?" Danny said as he opened a can of soda and placed in near the hologram. "You can't believe the craziness that's been happening here. The Justice League been framed, I've been cloned, a kid from the future came here and we have a little alien problem here. Yup, just another normal day for us heroes."
Danny chuckled as he opened the other can of and took a sip. He looked at the memorial, his expression changing.
"I really wish you're still here, Jason," Danny said, looking down. "We could really use some help. But knowing you, you'd say the bad guys need all the help they can get."
Danny raised his can in a toast and finished his soda. He gave a satisfying sigh before looking serious.
"I promise you, Jason," Danny said. "Plasmius will pay. I'll make sure of it."
Danny suddenly turned his head when he heard some footstep and saw Nightwing.
"Hey there, fearless leader," Danny said, looking at Nightwing.
"You okay there, Danny?" Nightwing asked.
"Just peachy," Danny replied, looking at the memorial. "I was just paying my respects."
The two looked at Robin's hologram, silence.
"He was a great teammate," Nightwing said after a minute of silence.
"The best," Danny agreed.
The two heroes exited the grotto, leaving the can of untouched soda near Robin.
"I know this may be a bad time, but I need you for a mission," Nightwing said as they walked through the corridors.
"Sure, you know I'm always itching for a mission," Danny said, looking at Nightwing, turning into Phantom. "What is it?"
"You'll see," Nightwing said as he led Danny towards the Ops Center. "Follow me."
The two entered the Ops Center and saw Mal and Superboy looking at the giant screen. The screen showed Impulse, Dani Phantom and an orange haired boy sleeping on bed.
"Sorry I'm late," Nightwing said as he and Danny walked in front of the screen.
Nightwing started explaining about the three newcomers to figure out what to do with them.
"They're gonna end up our responsibility, aren't they," Mal said with his arms crossed.
"Not necessarily," Nightwing said, looking at them. "Bart, Impulse, is staying with Jay and Joan Garrick in Central City. Roy, the original Speedy, is recuperating at Royal Memorial Hospital at Star City. Arrows Green and Red are watching over him. Dani Phantom, Danny's…er…little sister, on the other hand, is-"
"Is staying with me," Danny said, interrupting Nightwing. "So there's nothing to worry about her."
"Uh-huh," Mal said, looking at Superboy. "They're gonna end up our responsibility."
"Doesn't everything?" Superboy commented, looking at Nightwing. "I mean, where are we from identifying the Light's new partner?"
Nightwing sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.
"No progress," he said in a tired voice.
"Look on the bright side," Danny said, looking at everyone. "We need all the help we can get if we want to stop the Light and we just got three possible new members."
Before anyone could reply, they heard someone giggling. The turned around and saw Megan and La'gaan, who was eating a plateful of crab cakes floating beside him.
"La'gaan, don't eat so fast," Megan said, giggling. "You might choke."
"If only," Superboy muttered, looking at the two without emotion. Danny looked at him with a skeptical expression.
"I can't help it, Angelfish," La'gaan said, laughing as he popped a crab cake to his mouth. "The idea of cooking crabs is amazing enough. But making them into little cakes?"
Megan laughed and fed one cake to La'gaan.
"If that's not true love, I don't know what is, chum," La'gaan said, smirking at Superboy's direction.
"Can you guys do that somewhere else?" Danny said with a grossed out expression. "I just had breakfast."
Mal chuckled as Nightwing smirked a bit. Superboy, however, just walked away.
"Call me when it's time for the briefing," he said, walking passed Megan and La'gaan.
"Recognize: Artemis. B06," a female voice said, surprising everyone. They turned around and saw the Zeta Tube activating. Artemis walked through the tube, smiling at them.
"Time for the briefing," Nightwing said, smirking.
"Artemis!" Megan shouted, running towards her best friend. The plate between her and La'gaan started to fall and the Atlantean quickly caught it.
"Hey, Megan!" Artemis exclaimed as the two girls hugged.
"How's Wally?" Megan asked as the two separated.
"He's…Wally," Artemis replied, causing the two girls to laugh.
"Welcome back, girl," Mal greeted, walking towards Artemis.
"Hey Mal," Artemis said, smiling.
"Nice to see you again, Arty," Danny said, floating towards Artemis.
"You too, Danny," Artemis said.
"We have so missed you around here," Superboy said, smirking.
"Conner!" Artemis said when she saw Superboy.
"I relish this opportunity to fight alongside you again, archer," La'gaan said, putting a hand on Megan's shoulder.
"Uh…Thanks, La'gaan," Artemis said, not sure how to reply.
"Okay, Gamma Squad," Nightwing said, getting everyone's attention. "Listen up."
Everyone walked towards the screen and Nightwing pressed some buttons, revealing a rocket that was ready for launch.
"The mission is Cape Canaveral," he said, pressing another button, revealing a satellite between Earth and Mars. "Covert mission to safeguard the-"
"First ever Earth-Mars contact," Danny interrupted, looking at the screen in awe. "The satellite that can allow Earth to contact Mars."
Everyone stared at him, causing him to blush.
"What? I'm a space geek," Danny said, rubbing the back of his neck. "So why are we protecting it?"
"There are still people out there that doesn't like the idea of aliens," Nightwing replied. "And will do anything to scrub this launch."
Megan looked down with a sad expression. Artemis noticed her and put a hand on the Martian's shoulder.
"But that's why I came back," she said, smiling gently. "Because not all of us feel that way."
Megan gave Artemis a grateful smile while Mal was looking at Nightwing.
"So why are you going?" He asked.
"Let's just say that running this team for a year, I'm peckish for a little action," Nightwing replied with a smirk, tightening his gloves.
"I am going to witness the launching of a spacecraft," Danny said, trying to contain his excitement. "Best mission I ever have."
Later…
"I'm gonna get you for this, Nightwing," Danny muttered as he adjusted his cap, carrying a camera. He was currently standing in front of the space station in Cape Canaveral, disguised as a cameraman for G. Gordon Godfrey, while the others got a clear view of the launch. How Nightwing managed to get this job for him, he may never know.
"Are we on, cameraman?" G. G. Godfrey said, straightening his tie.
"We are, sir," Danny said with a strained smile that looks painful. "I'll get you for this, Nightwing."
Danny walked pass the other cameramen and reporters and stood in front of a woman with black hair, standing in front of a giant clock that said T minus 01:00:00, next to Martian Manhunter.
"And were officially T minus 1 hour and counting," she said, looking at the reporters. "We do have time for a few questions."
A lady with blonde hair raised her hand.
"Yes, miss-" Godfrey suddenly walked forward with a confident smirk and raised his hand, ignoring the blonde reporter he just rudely intercept. "Uh…Godfrey."
"Ms. Ferris," Godfrey said as Danny rolled his eyes, pointing the camera at him. "Maybe I'm the only one not drinking the space cola, but has anyone ask if the Earth wants more communication with aliens?"
"Our galaxy contains billions of stars, yet Earth and Mars are warmed by the same sun," Ms. Ferris replied. "The Martians aren't aliens. They're…our next-door neighbors. Isn't time we got to know them?"
"So that's your plan?" Godfrey said as he faced the camera. "Borrow a cup of Martian sugar while our world is being invaded?"
"Why not?" Danny muttered so no one could hear him. "Martian sugar sounds pretty exotic."
"If I may," Martian Manhunter said, walking towards the mic. Danny shifted the camera towards the Martian. "All the more reason we must stand together. This satellite represents a new spirit of cooperation between sister planets, a beginning of an alliance that could protect us all."
Martian Manhunter then backed away from the mic, saying all he needed to say. Godfrey just crossed his arms with a dissatisfied look in his face.
"Thank you, Martian Manhunter," Ms. Ferris said, walking back to the mic. "On behalf of Ferris Aircraft and the Earth-Mars Communication Initiative, we couldn't agree more." Martian Manhunter nodded and flew off.
"That's it?" Godfrey said, looking at the camera. "No more questions for the mighty Manhunter? Tell all G. Gordon say that name is ominous to any decent Earthling! And did you notice that the Kryptonian isn't taking any questions at all?"
Godfrey pointed up and Danny faced the camera upward and saw Superman flew off with Martian Manhunter. Danny smirked. He knew that Miss Martian and Superboy disguised themselves as their mentors, so the villains won't figure out that the Justice League were currently short a few members.
"If they were from you, I wouldn't be surprise," Danny muttered again as he pointed the camera at Godfrey.
After a few ranting about aliens, Godfrey signaled Danny to turn off the camera. Soon, the other reporters started dispersing to get a good view of the launch. Danny walked towards Ms. Ferris, who started walking towards the building.
"Um…Excuse me, Ms. Ferris," Danny said, causing the woman to look back.
"Who are you?" Ms. Ferris politely asked.
"I'm…Danny Fenton," Danny replied, showing his I.D. "I'm the new cameraman for Mr. Godfrey."
"And what does he want?" Ms. Ferris asked, her tone changing a bit.
"Actually," Danny said, looking down. "I was wondering if I could go and watch the launching inside."
"Why?" Ms. Ferris asked in a suspicious tone.
"Well, between you and me, I've been looking forward for this launching for months," Danny whispered. "Please?"
"Sorry, but no reporters allowed," Ms. Ferris said.
"Can I at least have your autograph?" Danny said as he grabbed a pen and paper from his pocket. "I'm a big fan of the Ferris Aircraft. I've been studying really hard so I can become one of the company's astronauts someday."
"Well that's good to hear," Ms. Ferris said as she grabbed the pen and paper and signed it. "I'll keep my eye on you."
"Thank you," Danny said as he got the signed paper and pen. "And good luck."
Danny walked away, hiding the smirk on his face. Ms. Ferris entered the building, unaware of two robotic flies crawling on the back of her shirt.
"Phantom to Nightwing," Danny said as he walked towards the studio's van. "The bugs have been planted."
"Well done," Nightwing replied. "Make sure no ones try to sabotage the launching from the inside. Await further instructions."
"Enjoy the view," Danny said as he ended the communication. As he walked back to the van, someone was hiding in the shadows, looking at the building through binoculars.
"No guards around the vicinity," she said through her communicator. "Should I go now?"
"Wait for the signal," the voice said.
The girl nodded and ended the communication, waiting patiently for the signal. She looked through her communication again and her eyes widened when she saw Danny.
"What is he doing here?" She asked to herself. She suddenly shook her head. "Focus on the mission…"
Danny was sitting on a grassy area, holding a bottle of water, the camera propped on his side. He looked at the darkening sky, spotting a few stars. It was almost time for the launch. Suddenly, he felt a tingle in his mind as Miss Martian established the Psychic Link.
Link established, Miss Martian said through the link.
Good, Nightwing said. Begin aerial sweep on the Cape's perimeter. Danny, make sure no one intrudes the building.
You got it, boss, Danny replied back.
Hey boss, Lagoon Boy said. I'd be happy to join my Angelfish on that assignment.
Negative, Lagoon Boy, Nightwing said. You're right where I need you. Giving me maximum coverage; in the water, on land and in the air, in case their any attempts of sabotage.
Besides, no one wants to see you guys all kissey-kissey, Danny thought, drinking water. It's bad enough I have to watch it in the Cave, I don't want any in my head.
Danny smirked as he heard a grumble in his head. Before he could react, he saw his watch beeping. He looked at it and saw that one of his Spy Flies spotted an intruder. Danny looked around to see if the coast was clear.
He stood up and was about to run when someone stopped him.
"Where do you think you're going?" Godfrey said, stopping Danny.
"Uh…I was…going to the restroom," Danny replied in a hurried tone. "I'll be back in a jiffy!"
Godfrey watched as Danny started running towards the building, muttering about children and their soda pops. Danny entered the building, spotted the restroom and walked in, trying not to look suspicious. He made sure no one was around before he went inside one of the stalls.
"Okay," Danny said as he locked himself in a stall, transforming into Phantom. "Concentrate…"
He took a deep breath and closed his eyes. A small glow surrounded him as he focused. Suddenly, he felt his entire body ripping apart. He clenched his teeth as the feeling intensified. Using all his might, Danny concentrated and there was a bright light.
Danny opened his eyes and saw another Danny, who was also looking at him.
"I did it," they said in unison. "What's up, handsome?" They started pointing at each other with smirks.
"You go back and make sure no one noticed that I'm…uh…we're gone," Danny said to his duplicate. The duplicate nodded as he turned into Danny Fenton. Danny Phantom turned invisible and flew through the ceiling as the duplicate exited the stall.
Nightwing, Danny thought as he flew through the corridors. One of my bugs spotted an intruder. I'm in the building.
Understood, Nightwing acknowledged. Make sure to stop the intruder.
Suddenly, Lagoon Boy started talking.
Heads up, minnows, he said. We got bad guys; Black Manta's troopers, working on some sort of platform beneath the surface, just offshore. I'm taking them down!
Delay that, Nightwing said Wait for backup.
I'll get a rebreather on the cargo hold and help the rookie out, Superboy said. Danny suddenly felt anger from Lagoon Boy.
Rookie? He said in an angry tone. Neptune's beard! I don't need help from the Boy of Steel!
Lagoon Boy, stand down! Nightwing ordered as Lagoon Boy started attacking.
Sorry-bzzt, Lagoon Boy said. You're breaking up-keck-bzzt!
There's no static in the Psychic Link! Nightwing exclaimed, annoyed.
This is not going well, Danny thought, his tone serious.
Superboy! Nightwing exclaimed. Do you have the rebreather?
Negative, Superboy replied, annoyed. La'gaan didn't restock.
You want me to go and back him up, Nightwing? Danny thought, pausing for a moment.
No, Nightwing replied. You go and stop the intruder. Superboy, take the helm. Miss Martian, gill up and help Lagoon Boy. Superboy, we need cover fire down here.
Acknowledge, Miss Martian said. Bio-ship reconfigured for manual flight.
Meanwhile, Danny entered the control and looked around. He saw people in uniform looking at the giant screens, absorbing space and the atmosphere. Danny noticed the screen showing the bay and saw troopers firing at Nightwing and Artemis.
Suddenly, a missile flew out from the ocean and towards the rocket. Danny hold his breath as the missile almost reach the rocket when a red laser suddenly hit it, destroying the projectile before it could touch the ship.
Danny let out a sigh and saw Ms. Ferris talking to one of the workers.
"Do we abort?" he asked.
"We are not aborting anything," Ms. Ferris said as he removed her I.D. and inserted in the computer. She then pressed the emergency launch button, causing the countdown to accelerate. "Advance the countdown! Final safety checks then launch."
As Danny watched, he heard a rustle on the ceiling. He looked up and saw one of the air vents open. Suddenly, a black projectile was hurling towards the computers. Acting quickly, Danny grabbed one of his Ecto-rangs and threw it towards the projectile. The two projectiles hit each other and fell on the ground. Everyone stared at Danny in surprise as he became visible.
"Don't mind me!" Danny exclaimed as he flew towards the air vent. "Just trying to stop the bad guys from ruining the launch!"
Danny turned intangible and tackled the person in the vents. The two phased through the ceiling until they were outside.
"Got you, Mr. Mercenary," Danny said to the person.
"That's Miss Mercenary to you," the person said, turning around to reveal an orange and black mask.
Suddenly, she freed herself from Danny and landed gracefully on the roof. Danny looked at the mercenary and saw she was wearing an outfit that looks exactly like Deathstroke, her mask covering the upper part of her face. She tucked her long, white hair behind her and smirked at the half-ghost. She seems to be the same age.
"Who are you supposed to be?" Danny asked as he flew down on the roof. "Miss Mercenary? Madam Slicer? Or is it Stroke Girl?"
The girl giggled a bit, looking at Danny with amusement.
"You're funny," she said as she pulled out a sword that was strapped on her back. "The name's Ravager, cutie."
"Well my name is Phantom," Danny replied as he made a sword of his own. "Danny Phantom. If you want, you can just give up."
"Tempting, but no thanks," she said as she shifted her weight. "My dad told me to do this."
"Deathstroke has a daughter?" Danny asked with disbelief. "Who knew?"
The two stared at each other, feeling the cold wind. From the corner of his eye, Danny could see red lights from the bay. Suddenly, Ravager charged and raised her sword, the blade gleaming on the moonlight. Danny quickly parried the blade and did a sweep kick, but Ravager jumped up and kicked him on the head.
Danny stumbled back and Ravager slashed at him, ripping the logo on his chest. Danny then jumped away from her before she could strike again.
"Hey! Watch the uniform!" Danny exclaimed as he looked at his torn outfit. "I just had this dry cleaned!"
Ravager smirked before she charged. Danny charged back, raising his sword. The two clashed blades, sparks flying around them. Ravager raised her blade and struck down, but Danny dodged it and slashed at the sword, breaking it into two. Then he kicked Ravager away.
Danny smirked as his sword vanished. He started walking towards Ravager, pulling out some handcuffs.
"Ready to give up yet?" Danny asked as he stopped in front of the female mercenary.
Suddenly, Ravager jumped and landed behind Danny. Before the half-ghost could react, he felt a sudden pain on his bottom. He gave a loud yelp and jump up. He glared at Ravager, rubbing his stinging butt. Ravager, who was holding a black staff, winked at him.
Before Danny could react, he noticed something on the bay. Using his shades, Danny saw Aqualad walking towards the bay with two troopers on his flanks.
"Aqualad!" Danny exclaimed, looking at the bay. Before Danny could fly there, Ravager charged and jabbed Danny on the gut.
"Sorry, cutie," Ravager said as Danny doubled over. "But I'm your dance partner."
Danny growled and charged at Ravager, his hands glowing bright. He punched and kicked, but all of his attacks were either dodged or blocked by Ravager. Suddenly, Ravager whacked Danny's shoulder and jabbed him again on the gut.
"I have to admit, Ravager," Danny said, panting for air. "You're good."
He suddenly fired a green net towards Ravager. She suddenly jumped sideways and threw two bolas at Danny, tying him up. Danny tried to turn intangible, but couldn't.
"What the?" Danny exclaimed as he looked at the bolas. "I can't phase through this thing! What is this?"
"It's a little present from a friend of yours," Ravager said as she pulled out a knife from her belt. "Now time to end this."
She walked towards Danny and sat on his chest, looking like a panther trapping a deer. Danny struggled to get free, but the pressure on chest made it difficult to move. Ravager raised her knife. Danny's eyes widened as the knife came towards him.
Danny closed his eyes and waited for the pain, but he only heard the knife hitting something. He opened his eyes and saw the knife stabbed the ground near his face, missing him in an inch. Ravager laughed, causing Danny to look at her with confusion.
"I have orders not to kill you," Ravager said, calming down. "And I had a good time dancing with you, cutie."
She suddenly looked up and saw the ship launched. Ravager then looked at her watch and nodded.
"See you soon, Phantom," Ravager said, looking at Danny. Suddenly, her lips smirked in a mischievous way. "But first, a little something to remember you by."
Before Danny could react, Ravager pressed her lips to Danny's. The half-ghost's eyes widened as Ravager stole his first kiss, his brain suddenly stopped functioning. The mercenary stood up and winked at him before she ran towards the edge of the building and jumped off.
Danny stared at the place where she jumped before he shook his head. He reached for his belt and managed to get an Ecto-rang. He used the silver projectile to cut the bolas, freeing himself. He stood up and looked down the building and saw that Ravager was gone.
Danny sighed and started flying towards the bay. Suddenly, he heard an explosion above. He looked up and saw the ship blew up. Danny started flying towards the bay and saw Superboy and Miss Martian running towards Nightwing and Artemis…who was lying on the ground, her uniform stained with red.
"No…" Danny said as he quickly landed on the ground and ran towards them. Danny watched as Nightwing applied CPR on Artemis.
"I…don't hear her heartbeat," Superboy said, his face filled with a mixture of shock and grief.
"28…29…30!" Nightwing exclaimed as he tried to restart Artemis' heart. He grabbed her face and breath into her mouth. After three times, he looked at her and his expression became defeated.
"She's dead…" he said, his tone filled with grief.
Danny looked at Artemis, his chest filled with grief. Tears were streaming behind his shades. Miss Martian covered her mouth as tears leaked down her face. Superboy looked down and Nightwing sat on the sand, shaking with grief.
With the reporters, the duplicate went to the van and shut the door. As he placed the camera down, a single tear traveled down on his cheek before he vanished into green mist.
Mount Justice…
The Team, including Zatanna and Rocket, were in the Living Room, grieving. Danny sat on one of the stools, his head placed on his arms. Next to him, Jazz was trying to comfort him. Dani was next to Cassie, both of them with sad expressions. Robin sat on the other stool, his face expressionless. Mal was comforting Karen as Barbara was comforting Raquel. Jaime was leaning on the wall, looking on the ground. Garfield was sitting on the sofa's head, his cap hiding his face. Megan was sitting on the couch, tears on her face as she hugged herself and Conner was leaning on the wall with downcast eyes.
Conner looked at Megan and walked towards her when he suddenly stopped. Garfield was towards his adopted sister and comforted her. Mal and Karen suddenly walked towards Conner and he looked at them with a serious expression.
"We'll find Lagoon Boy," he said. "And Aqualad…"
"No doubt," Mal said. He looked around the room like he was looking for someone. "Where's Nightwing? He should be here."
Superboy sighed sadly as he turned to the ground.
"He went to tell Wally," he replied, causing the couple to looked at each other with sad expressions.
Danny raised his head a little, his eyes red with grief. He clenched his fist together until his knuckles turned white.
"Kal'dur will pay for this," Danny muttered.
Bludhaven…
Inside an empty warehouse near the docks, Nightwing was leaning on one of the crates, looking at a picture he took of Artemis and himself years ago.
"We'll laugh about this someday…" he said in a sad voice.
Suddenly, he heard something. He turned his projector off and walked away from the crates.
"Wally?" Nightwing called, looking around.
"No," a voice said. He turned around and saw Aqualad standing in front of him.
The two stared at each other and before they could react, Wally walked towards them, hands in his hoodie pockets. Aqualad turned his head left and right, surrounded. Suddenly, someone appeared next to Wally, face hidden under the hood. The stranger took of the hood, revealing Artemis, alive and healthy.
"I take it our rouse was successful?" Aqualad asked, looking at Nightwing.
"Almost too successful," Nightwing said as he walked towards the Atlantean. "The Team and the League are in mourning. They may never forgive us."
"And still only we four know the secret?" Aqualad asked, looking at the people gathered here.
"This secret and the other," Nightwing replied. "That you've been under deep cover under Manta's organization since leaving the Team. How'd it go in that end?"
"Successful as well," Aqualad replied. "I've proven my loyalty to my biological father. He is moving me up the ladder, bringing me closer to the Light…and their unknown partner."
"Not without cause, Kal'dur," Nightwing said. "The Comm Satt wasn't supposed to be destroyed and La'gaan definitely wasn't supposed to be captured."
"It was the only way to save his life and maintain my cover," Aqualad explained, looking down.
"I'm not blaming you," Nightwing said as he put a hand on Aqualad's shoulder. "I know you've been forced to make impossible decisions. Like choosing between saving the Kroloteans on Melina Island-"
"-Or saving my friends," Aqualad finished, his expression serious. "And I will find a way to help La'gaan. You have my word."
"So what now?" Artemis asked. She and Wally were holding hands and she tightened her grip on his.
Nightwing pulled out a necklace with a yellow stone on it and placed it around Artemis' neck.
"Uh…dude?" Wally asked, looking at Nightwing. "Why are you giving bling to my dead girlfriend."
"Glamour charm, courtesy of Zatanna," Nightwing replied. "Physio-morphic spell, I think. She said it backwards."
Wally walked beside Nightwing and looked at Artemis.
"Wow…" Wally commented. "You look…exactly the same."
"To the four of us," Nightwing said, looking at Wally. "And only us. But to anyone else, you're an entirely different person."
"The more impressive trick is how you got something so specific from Zatanna without revealing who or what it is for," Artemis commented.
"We have a history," Nightwing explained, causing Wally to smirk.
"Dog," he said, nudging Nightwing on the ribs.
"It is time," Aqualad said as he held a beeping device. He looked at Artemis, who nodded.
Wally walked forward and gave his girlfriend and hugged her before the two shared one last kiss. Aqualad and Nightwing looked away as the couple have their last moment together.
"What could go wrong?" Artemis asked in a joking tone.
"Don't say that," Wally said, smirking a bit. He stroked Artemis face before Nightwing interrupted them. Wally looked at Artemis and watched her walk away, following Aqualad.
The two friends went up the roof and watched as Aqualad and Artemis enter a black submarine. The submarine started going down the water and it was soon gone.
"We're through the hard part," Nightwing said, looking at his best friend. "They're in."
"Who are you kidding?" Wally said with a worried tone. "It only gets more dangerous from here."
And that's what happened folks. Aqualad is a double agent! And Artemis is not dead! What will happen now to our young heroes. Also, I hoped you like how I introduced Ravager. Anyway, Review Time!
