ATTENTION! Don't forget to contribute to the poll 'LIV rewrite'. The poll will close on November 29th, so hurry up and vote. Should I rewrite LIV or keep going with it?

Peace returned. For now, at least. Thor returned to Asgard, Bruce and Steve went back to New York, Tony was back in California—tinkering away on new and improved suits—Rhodey continued at the marines as a new member of the Avengers. Clint and Natasha resumed their "ordinary" lives as agents.

Marmalade, however, stood before Fury, trembling. He was going to remove her from the Avengers Initiative, she was certain of it.

"Marmalade," Fury murmured, "over the past few weeks, I have decided that . . ."

There it is, the suspense again, Marmalade muttered in her thoughts.

". . . You could be very talented and best as a Shield assassin."

"Assassin?" She wasn't expected that.

"Don't you agree? You don't just think like an agent. You think like an assassin. The way you plot you missions. Your swift, stealth killing. I think that would be a better position for you. You would still do some the missions that you've recently taken, but others would involve assassination. Do you accept?"

Marmalade smiled, "Yes, sir. Being an assassin would bring out my true skills, sir."

"Good. 'Cause if you keep it up, I won't expel you from the Avengers. But I warn you: I am considering."

"I won't let you down, sir."

"Something tells me you won't. Furthermore," Fury stood up and began to walk up and down the room with his hands behind his back, pacing, "there's a mission I'm hoping you'll accept. It isn't an assassination, but an agent's mission. Many have failed. And I'm entrusting you to be the first one to complete it."

Marmalade gulped.

That's it! That's the end of Dark Horse. It's been so much fun developing this character. Even though half the time she was kind of dead. In the next story, she'll probably be developed a little bit more.

Stay tuned for the next story!
