"Dick, do you think is a good idea?"
"Of course, Babs. I mean we do this like every year with each other. It's no big deal."
Barbara raised her red eyebrows. "I don't know." She mumbled, worriedly. "What if Life doesn't like it?" She inquired from the ebony.
In return, Dick rolled his blue orbs. "Chillax, she would love it." He smirked at his red headed friend.
Barbara shook her head, smirking. "Well, if Life tries to kill any of us; I'm gonna have to sacrifice you."
The raven shot her an unhappy look. "Wow Babs, you really are a true friend," He said sarcastically. Barbara grinned in response, her sapphire blue eyes holding a mischief.
Grinning like the Cheshire cat, she walked up to the king sized bed on which a body lay, breathing slowly. Barbara took a small glance at Dick who smiled at her, mentally saying to continue. The red head turned her head at the sleeping body, feeling its slow and small breathing with soft snores. Biting her bottom lip, she leaned in forward; bring her pink lips to the sleeper's ear.
"Hey Life, get up." She whispered, softly.
As if lightening had hit her, Life bolted out from the bed and tackling Barbara to the carpeted floor. The red headed girl gave a small squeak as the magician's body was pressing her to the floor and not to mention that dust bunnies were tickling her nose.
Venom dripping from her voice, Life questioned. "Who the hell are you and what are you doing here?" She demanded, pressing her face with her hand.
"Mphhh…" Came a slurry answer.
The raven haired girl narrowed her eyes, yanking the other girl up and quite surprised to see that it was her best friend. Barbara seemed to dust her nose before glaring at Life, "Will it kill you if you clean your room?!" She whisper-shouted.
Life raised an eyebrow, backing away from the enraged red head.
And then she felt herself bump into someone from behind and she was even more startled when two arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her in a back hug. "What the—"She cried out before a shiver ran down her spine as the person behind her took a deep inhale in the scent of her hair.
"Good Morning, Life." Dick's breath seemed to tickle her ear lobe, scattering goose bumps on her skin.
The grey-eyed teen instantly pulled away from the ebony, her face red as Barbara's hair. She gave him an incredulous look and as a response he grinned at her.
"What the hell are you guys doing in the middle of this freaking morning?!" Life growled; her face red as an apple as she took a look in the side mirror.
Her black curls were falling down her shoulders to the mid of her back, her over-sized purple T-shirt was crumpled and the white pajama pants she was wearing looked a bit too childish.
She looked like she had gone on a wild motorbike ride.
If it was possible, her face flushed even more.
Whipping her head to her 'friends', she looked like she was about to eat them alive. Barbara took a cautious step away from her, pushing Dick closer whose face had a huge smirk dancing on it.
"Do you guys wanna say something before I tie you up and hang you upside down from the Eiffel Tower?" Life deadpanned, glaring daggers at them.
The reply she got was quite impressing; in the next second she found herself enveloped in to two tight hugs.
"Happy Birthday!" Barbara and Dick chorused.
The magician blinked, her eyes widening. "Birthday?" She said out aloud before looking at the two.
Barbara grinned. "Yeah, Happy Birthday!" She beamed, sitting on the soft mattress. "You don't remember?" Dick inquired, smirking.
Life stared at them before answering. "Yeah, I guess I forgot." She scratched her chin, lost in thought.
A smile spread across her face as she slapped the side of her forehead. "Hello Megan! It's my birthday, how could I forget?" She chuckled before frowning.
"How the hell did you guys get in here?" She questioned, narrowing her grey eyes at them.
Barbara smirked and so did Dick. "Through the window," The blue-eyed girl pointed at the open window. Life sent her an unamused look.
She sighed. "So let me get this straight; you guys broke into my house at 5 o' clock AM just so you could greet me on my birthday?" Life inquired, not looking happy.
She received nods from the two and she couldn't help but frown before laughing. "Wow, try to give me a warning next time." She laughed, earning smiles from them.
"You guys really know how to surprise a girl," She laughed, sitting back on her bed beside Barbara.
Something clicked the red head's mind as a huge smile formed on her face. "I just remembered something," Swiftly, she got up before pulling out a small bag out of nowhere.
Unzipping the bag, she pulled out what seemed to be a wrapped up box. "We got you presents," Barbara smiled, happily.
Life smiled back. "Thanks guys but you shouldn't have."
Dick rolled his eyes before tossing the girls a smirk. "Stop being formal and open it," Life grinned taking the sparkling blue box from Barbara, ripping the blue wrapper and pulling out… a night gown?
The magician stared at it, dumbfounded as Dick snickered in his hand.
It was a long sleeveless black sleeping gown with a yellow ribbon at its waist, curved cuttings at its ends and she couldn't help but notice the huge golden bat symbol on its chest. Life cocked her head up at Barbara, giving her an incredulous look.
"Do you like it?" Barbara asked, eagerly.
Life took another look at the piece of fabric in her hands, mentally scowling. "A Batman night gown? Wow, it's ahh… really sweet." She said, forcing a smile.
Dick looked like he was going to explode from laughter.
Barbara, however, smiled even more. "I have a Robin night gown! Now, we both can be like mentor sidekick." She laughed, nudging Life's shoulder with her elbow.
Life's scowled, not even wanting to know about her best friend's huge crush on the Boy Wonder. "It's really nice Babs. Thanks," She smiled, pulling Barbara into a hug who hugged her back.
The two girls separated when they heard someone cough. Smirking, Life cocked her head at Dick as she swung her bare feet, sitting on the king sized bed.
The blue eyes boy smirked as he pulled out a small rectangular box, wrapped with a sparkling red sheet and a yellow ribbon. "Happy Birthday." He said, handing it to her.
Happily taking it, Life began to open the red wrapper slowly and delicately this time. Please don't be a Bird Boy pajama suit; please don't be a Bird Boy pajama suit.
She prayed, mentally.
A huge grin began to play on her lips as she got to know what her present was; it was a picture frame, not an ordinary one but the one when Dick had taken with her when they'd first met and even though she wanted to murder the boy for taking her picture without her permission back then, she couldn't help but thank him for it now.
Her train of thoughts was broken when Dick piped up. "Do you like it?" He inquired, smirking.
Life laughed, pressing the picture to her chest. "Yeah, it's really awesome." And the Romanian boy couldn't help but grin.
"Wasn't my present good?" Barbara pouted, crossing her arms over her chest. Life tossed her a smile. "Your gift is cool too Babs." Life gave a laugh, bumping her shoulder with the other girl's.
A satisfied smile came up on the red haired beauty's lips.

|8:58 EDT
The wind was nice and cool and the smell of fresh air gave her a gift of pleasure. Life grinned.
She couldn't remember the last time she'd gone to the beach.
The magician took off her ripped jeans and yellow tank top before throwing her sandals away on the golden sand, revealing her red and white two-piece.
She adjusted the black sunglasses on her eyes before looking at emerald skinned girl beside her.
"Hello Megan!" Megan grinned from ear to ear. "We should hit the beach everyday!" Her grin widened even more.
Life cocked her head up at the Martian girl, admiring her yellow swim suit. "I so agree with you, Megs." She agreed, pulling her hair up with the help of a catcher and tying it up into a loose bun.
Robin began, placing a hand on his bare chest. "First: a moment of silence for our absent comrade."
"Poor Wally," She heard Megan mutter and the grey-eyed girl sighed that she couldn't see Wally without a shirt on.
Though, she was startled when the others ran into the water, cheering like crazy. The fourteen year old shook her head, frowning as she turned on her heel. She swatted the blue sheet in the air before lying it down on the golden sand.
Without a further ado, Life laid down on it, stretching like a cat and groaning. She turned over, loving the way the warm rays of the sun massaged her bruised body that couldn't be seen by anyone without her approval.
On the other side, the others played in the water, splashing and playing with each other. That's when Robin felt someone's absence. Adjusting his dark shades on his nose, his eyes found his absent rude partner slash best friend who was currently resting on the beach. An idea clicked his mind then.
A mischievous smirk made its way to his face as looked at Megan as enjoying the lovely cool water. "Hey isn't Life gonna join us?" He asked, nonchalantly.
Megan looked down at the ebony before turning her head to the magician. "I think she's doing that sun bathing thing," Megan said, trying to find a proper word.
"Tanning, right?" Robin helped.
Megan smiled and gave a nod. She turned to the magician as she waved her hand, calling her to join them.
Life sat up, pushing down her sunglasses a bit and glancing at the others; Superboy was trying to find something from the basket they had brought, Kaldur was nowhere to be seen (she assumed he was underwater) and Robin and Megan were waving at her from the water.
She, however, paid them no mind. Taking a bottle of sun block, she began applying the sweet fragmented lotion over her legs and arms. One thing Life hated was getting sun burned so she almost used the half of the bottle of the sun block that made her skin a bit too shiny.
Giving a small sigh, she laid back, shivering happily as the sea breeze made her cozy. You see, the universe had done things to her; bad things. Things she hated so now all the Birthday Girl wanted to do was kick back, relax and enjoy the beach.
Life shifted on to her stomach as she dropped her eye lids. Maybe a little nap wouldn't hurt, she thought to herself and yawning.
Strangely, Life felt herself weightless and the wind seemed to get cold and fast. Her eyes fluttered open as she realized what was happening to her. She was flyi—
Splash!
Life gasped, pulling herself out from the sea water before giving death glares to Robin who was busy in laughing and clutching his stomach. If looks could kill, Robin would have been fried a million times by now.
"What. Was. That?!" She barked, ready to pounce on the boy wonder. Robin tossed her grin, pointing towards the teenage Martian girl standing beside him.
Life's eyes shifted from him to Megan. "Megan! Why the hell did you levitate me to here!?" Life's teeth grinded together as her jaw clenched. "You made my hair wet and the sun screen got washed off!"
Megan gave her a sorry smile, tugging a strand of red hair behind her ear.
"I'm sorry but you weren't listening and Robin said that…" The fifteen year old trailed off, gesturing towards Robin.
Life's glare hardened even more. "M' gonna slaughter you, Feather Boy." The fourteen year old hissed but she was surprised when the boy splashed water over her.
"Will you stop acting like an old lady and have fun?" Robin cackled, splashing more water over her.
In return, Life chanted a spell. "Retaw sehsalps no mih." And she laughed when water waves splashed over him from all sides, nearly pulling him in.
Yeah, she loved the beach.
*Life of Death*
Death was pouting and why wouldn't she when Red Tornado come and ruin all the fun when she was about to win the volley ball game. It had been so long since she'd had that much fun and the android just had to come and blow it away. Oh look, I made a pun. Haha… Death thought to herself, sarcastically.
"I hope Bats is gonna give us a mission," Robin smirked, looking at her through the domino mask.
The grey-eyed girl opened her mouth to answer when she was beat it to it by Batman. The caped man settled his steely stare on them before starting. "Team, I want you to meet a new teammate,"
And Death rolled her eyes; she knew who the new teammate was.
Green Arrow walked into the room with a blonde girl hot on his heels. Smiling, the man introduced her. "Team: This is Artemis. You're new teammate." GA said, cheerily.
Frowning, Death looked up at Artemis who frowned back before sending a small smirk. Death didn't hate Artemis. She really didn't but something about her ticked the magician. The raven observed the blonde; Artemis's features looked familiar. Biting the side of her lip, she listened to Batman and Green Arrow who told them about the 'newbie'.
All of a sudden, the Zeta tubes burst into life: Recognized: Kid Flash B03
Numerous objects on him, Wally West ran into the room. " The Wall- Man's here. Let's get this party star—" The ginger was cut off as he tripped over his own feet and fell flat on his face, clearing signs of dignity he had had.
His volley ball bounced out from his hold, jumping over Batman and Red Tornado's heads that sent him unimpressed looks.
Everyone in the room (minus Batman, Superboy and Red Tornado) smiled at him, holding back laughter though Death tried to stop the blood from rushing into her cheeks, making her face an impressive shade of red.
Her steel grey eyes swept over his lightly built chest and then his cute little nose that had sun screen smudged over it and she instantly looked away, tearing her eyes from his toned body to somewhere else, a pink blush dancing over her cheeks and a small smirk across her hidden lips.
The only ones who noticed her action was Batman; who paid it no mind and Robin; who couldn't help but think why was she blushing because of Wally?
"ted" Wally completed his sentence, looking at the others, unhappily.
A small chuckle escaped Artemis's lips as she took a step forward. "Wall-man huh?" She gave a teasing smirk, "I love the uniform. What exactly are your powers?"
Death narrowed her eyes, a low growl escaping his throat.
Wally got up on his feet before asking. "Uh who's this?"
"Artemis, you new teammate." Artemis replied, smirking.
Wally scowled in response. "Kid Flash." He said, giving an introduction. "Never heard of you," He added, sternly.
What Green Arrow did made Wally cry out. He walked over to Artemis, placing a hand on her shoulder. "She's my protégé." He smiled.
Wally was struck by lightning. Now, Death wasn't with the red head on this. Truth be told, she was happy that firecrotch had gotten replaced. She never liked Roy; he was arrogant and way too cocky for her taste. Yeah she didn't like the red headed archer.
As Wally began to bicker with Artemis, the magician replayed the memory in her mind about meeting Harper and… things didn't work out between them.
The Zeta tubes gave out a bright blue light: Recognized: Speedy B07
Speak of the devil…
"He doesn't go by Speedy anymore." Roy stated, walking out of the Zeta tubes.
"Call me, Red Arrow."
Death again rolled her eyes; wow, that's one awesome name.
Green Arrow smiled at his adopted son. "Roy! You look—" The man was cut off. "Replacable?" Roy (or rather Red Arrow) scoffed, angrily.
And this time Roy and Artemis began a sibling war. Death rolled her eyes before smirking as she took a step near the Ginger. "Hey, firecrotch. Still that moody teenager huh?" She smiled slyly, ready to have a small fight with the red head.
Roy narrowed his eyes before brushing past her. "Shoo… Rabbit," He said sternly, walking up to the holo-graphic computer.
Death's eye seemed to twitch. "Who the hell you call'in Rabbit?!" She demanded, anger running in voice. Robin snickered beside her. "That name does suit you, Rabbit." He grinned earning a glare filled with hatred from her.
"Don't you dare call me that," Death said through clenched teeth.
Turned out Red Arrow needed their help, something Robin was eager to do. "You want us to rescue her from the League of Shadows." He exclaimed, masked eyes glinting happily.
The dark magician scoffed; the Shadows were not a child's play. They were dangerous and powerful. She could remember meeting Ra's Al Ghul and his beautiful daughter Talia Al Ghul who had helped to learn stealth mode or a normal man would say 'going ninja'.
The fourteen year old smiled; those were good times.
"Hey Magic Girl, you paying attention or what?" Came Robin's voice from beside her and in return Death slapped the back of his neck. "What was that for?" He cried out. Death sighed before looking at Red Arrow.
"Long story short: you want us to keep that lady safe as she tries to defuse that bomb you've been calling 'Fog' for the last three minutes and call it a day." She said, placing a hand on her hip.
Now, Death could feel Green Arrow's glare boring her head and she knew Canary was going to give her a long lecture on how to talk to your soon to be annoying adoptive brother.
Red Arrow gave a nod as he walked to the teleport beams. "My job here is done," He said out loud as the Zeta beams again said Speedy.
"That's Red Arrow: B07. Update." He growled ignoring two familiar snickers from a certain blonde and raven.
Aqualad shook his head, turning to his team. "Team we have a mission, get ready as we leave in the next fifteen minutes."
Death smiled and that's when she felt someone tap her shoulders, gently. The girl whirled around and fought back a blush.
Wally tossed her a smile. "Life can you…" He trailed off, opening his arms and gesturing to himself.
Death nodded, thankful to the mask that hid her flushed cheeks. "Evig mih sih emutsoc." A spell left her lips and as soon as it did, a black cloud wrapped around the red head's body before clearing away.
Kid Flash awarded the girl with a smile and a wink that made her heart beat faster than before.
*Life of Death*
|Happy Harbor
|21:53 EDT
The magician kept taping her foot on the back ground as she looked at the others with boredom. They all were currently in Happy Harbor Highschool and were protected a blonde woman known as 'Dr. Roquette' whom Life had never met before. She, Robin, Artemis, Aqualad and Kid Flash currently sat inside except for Superboy and Miss. Martian who were outside, guarding the perimeter.
Everyone online? Miss Martian's voice rang in her head and she gave a sigh, leaning against the wall.
This is weird, Artemis complained, glancing over at herself then the others.
You'll get used to it, Death replied, walking and taking a seat beside the Doctor who was busy complaining on how distracting this was.
And soon, Wally and Artemis began to bicker with each other making the fourteen years old frown. They've only met each other for a few hours! What is wrong with them?! Death's voice echoed in their minds as Artemis and Wally snapped their heads to her.
She started it! Kid Flash pointed to the blonde, his mouth full with the chocolate bar he was eating. Artemis glared at him before leaving to help Superboy and Miss. Martian.
Death threw her arms behind her head and propped her legs on the front table, watching Dr. Roquette do her sciency-magic. Her boredom was interrupted when she heard a Mhmm… that boy in her mind.
The girl raised an eyebrow, not liking the way Artemis had purred in her mind and she didn't like it either when Miss. Martian scolded the archer.
"So how's the Birthday Girl doing?" Robin whispered loud enough for her to hear, smirking. She gave him a quizzical look. "How do you know that?" She questioned him, grey eyes looking into masked ones.
"Please, I know everything." The boy wonder chuckled silently. "The only thing you know is how to hack computers, Techno Geek." Death said, shifting in her seat to face him.
Before the two could form a fight of their own, Aqualad began. Robin, you, Superboy and Death would pursue the Fog. Leave the rest to us.
The bird and the magician nodded as they exited the building with Superboy close behind.
*Life of Death*
Sadly, the STAR labs building had crumbled to the ground and now the trio was headed to Wayne Tech Facility. Death remembered the building; it was the place where she had had her first encounter with Klarion. The fourteen year old couldn't help but observe that she was missing her Dad a lot today. A frown graced her features at the thought. Dad…
Her attention turned to Superboy who had jumped out from the Bio-ship and Robin was calling out to him. Biting her bottom lip, she walked over to the boy wonder who was scowling deeply.
"Jee, Supes need to see an anger manager," She shrugged before taken off guard when Robin wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling out a grappling hook with the other. Though, the poor Boy Wonder didn't even get to shoot it as the magician pulled herself away from him.
"What did I tell you about skin contact?" Death hissed and he scolwed even more, reaching for her. "We don't have time for this! Grab hold!" He grimaced but the girl slapped his hand away.
Glaring at him, Death spoke. "You go your way, I'll go my way." She deadpanned. Robin shook his head, glaring at her as he shot his grappling hook and swung outside.
"Show off," The dark magician mumbled before chanting a spell and following the caped boy.
As soon as her feet touched the ground, her com link spoke up. "Sun shine, you need to evacuate the building. I'll take care of the Fog," She could hear Robin clearly.
Her face twisted into a scowl. "Who died and made you king?" She snapped, running into the building. "Just obey orders, get it?" Came Robin's voice even in a louder snap tone.
Death snorted.
She ran into the building, followed by numerous guards who were yelling for her to stop. Performing a flip, she landed on a table with grace as all eyes turned to her.
Curling her hands around her mouth, Death announced, "Listen, this building's gonna blow up any minute, so move if you wanna save your lives!" She yelled at the men and women.
And then screams and shouts filled the atmosphere making Death smile as everyone ran out of the room, heading for the emergency building.
"Well, that was easy…" Death mumbled walking out into the small garden the building held. She touched her com-link. "This is Death to Wonder Bread. I've done evacuating. What am I supposed to do now?" She said, pulling out a chewing gum and propping it into her mouth.
"Just wait for me until I hack this thing. Agh! I'll try to be back there as soon as I can. This is Robin to Rabbit over and out." Death rolled her eyes at the ridiculous nickname. Rabbit? Seriously Roy?! Seriously!
Chewing the bubble gum in her mouth, Death sighed when she felt two hands on her shoulders making her yelp in surprise. "Gee idiot if you were gonna come this fast I would've—woah.." The magician said, choking on the chewing gum in her mouth.
Behind her stood her Father, Sportsmaster, his brown eyes eyeing his Pretty Girl.
"How's it been Pretty Girl?" He asked smiling.
Death finally swallowed the chewing gum as she stared at her Father, scared. "D-d-dad?" She stuttered.
The blonde man smiled even more as he kneeled down to her level and took off his mask. "H-how did you find me?" Death asked, her pulse getting faster as Lawrence kissed her forehead.
Pulling on his mask, the assassin laughed. "What do you even understand by the world's greatest assassin?" Sportsmaster chuckled, taking Death's hand into his own.
"C'me on Life, we're goi'n home." He grimaced pulling the girl. But the man was not happy when she pulled her hand away from him. "No!" She said, locking her grey eyes on Sportsmaster.
The blonde man sighed. "They've brain washed by poor baby." He gave her a pat on the head, frowning. "Don't worry. That idiot Psimon will fix you," He mumbled when Death slapped his hand away.
"I won't come! I'll never go back," Death bit her lip, her voice raising a level.
The assassin shook his head as he turned on his heel. "Stop being a Drama queen, Pretty Girl. You've had your fun now let's go."
"You killed her." Death spat out and her Father stopped in his tracks. He whipped his head to her. "Who're you talking about?"
The magician found breathing hard for a minute. "Mom, you killed her." She deadpanned.
Sportsmaster eyes narrowed as he laughed. "Gee Pretty Girl! Who told you that? Gina died cause of can—" He was cut off.
"Don't lie to me, I know you killed her and I know you sold me." The words vomited out the black haired girl's mouth slowly.
Sportamaster ran a hand through his hair. "Where the hell did you come up with that nonsense?" He inquired, his eyes narrowing even more.
Death tilted her head up, her breathing fast. "You're a liar!" She screamed. "You killed Mom and then you sold your own daughter just for some shitty cash!" Her jaw clenched as she glared at him.
Partening his lips, Sportsmaster was cut off by the fourteen year old. "I couldn't believe it! I just could not believe it." Death shouted, bringing her hand up to her aching forehead.
"All these years, I thought you cared about me, I thought you loved me, I thought you were the only one I had…" She mourned and a small sob came from her.
Death cocked her head up, glaring into Sportsmaster's brown eyes. "But I was wrong. I was so damn wrong." She growled, a deep black aura surrounding her body.
Then she looked at him, analyzing his hard expressions. "I thought you were my Dad… or are you even that?" She taunted, her steely grey eyes glaring at him.
The atmosphere got filled by a huge smack and the next thing the magician knew was looking at Sportsmaster with teary eyes and the throbbing of her now red cheek.
A whimper escaped her lips as she placed a hand on her right cheek, where Sportsmaster's finger prints could be seen clearly. The blonde man glared at her as he dropped his hands on his hips.
"I have no idea where the hell did you found about that so tell me Pretty Girl, where did you find it?" Death knew that tone, it was a tone when her Father was mad, and things didn't go well when he was mad.
"You're a monster," Came her cracked up voice. The magician didn't see the kick coming this time. Death gasped as it was aimed at her stomach.
Biting the insides of her cheeks, Death fell down on her knees, gasping at the pain that now was roaming her stomach.
Sportsmaster took out something from his utility belt before yanking the girl up from her pony tail. A shriek came from her as he pulled her up to his eyelevel.
He looked in those eyes, those stormy grey eyes; eyes filled with anger, pain and hurt. He could even see tears brimming in them.
"You have no idea how much I had to suffer cause of you." He growled, tightening his grip in her curly black locks. "The whole Light thinks I'm a punk whose daughter joined the pathetic heroes." He grimaced, throwing her back on the ground.
"You don't even know how angry Klarion was!"He yelled slamming his foot into her gut, making her wince.
Anger ran through his body as he reached down and cupped her face in his hand. The anger seemed to soften a bit as he tilted her chin up, clearly seeing tears run down her cheeks. "You don't belong with them, Life. You don't." He smiled at her, brushing the locks of hair out of her watery eyes.
"Come back. Come back, home. Come back to your Daddy," His words were smooth and sweet as honey; it was his deadliest weapon against his daughter.
Death partened her hidden lips, "I already got a home, Daddy." She sniffed, squeezing her eyes shut for more pain to come but it didn't, it didn't come.
Instead, Sportsmaster stared at her before taking out a whip and stood a few step away from her. Swatting, it in the air he brought it down on her. The girl didn't scream, she bit her lip as hard as she could, biting back the screams that wanted to erupt from her mouth so badly.
"You've been a bad girl, Life and bad girls deserve punishment." He said, voice dripping weapon as another swat filled the air followed be a huge whimper.
"Tell me who they are, tell me their secrets.' He demanded, tightening the grip on the whip he held. Death shook her head, a small chuckle escaping her lips. "I didn't tell them anything about you. How can you expect me to say something about them?" Her laugh was broken as she lay on the ground, her body screaming from pain.
Sportsmaster gave a sigh, tossing a glance to his daughter. "You'll never be like them, Life. You're blood doesn't allow it. You're not a hero." He explained to her, trying his best to convince the magician.
Death flinched slightly as she got up from the ground, her limbs aching and her legs feeling like jelly. She looked up at him with determined eyes. "Then I'll force my blood, I'll force myself to be like them."
Sportsmaster laughed.
"Keep on tryi'n Pretty Girl but blood doesn't change, no matter what." He eyed her menacingly as he spun on his heel, walking away.
"Happy Birthday, Pretty Girl." He smiled, waving his hand nonchalantly as he walked.
Death didn't go after him nor she called Robin; she didn't want to, she just didn't
Her Father's voice filled her ears. "When they find about your past and hate you, you should know I'll always be there for my youngest baby."
Her eyes widened at the last two words. Youngest? What was that supposed to mean?
Though, when she was going to ask her Father had already disappeared into the darkness of the night.
She looked over her arms that held thick black and blue bruises she had gotten a few minutes ago. She gave out a deep exhale before casting a spell on herself.
"Edih eth skram"
The bruises disappeared, not leaving any traces of them but the pain remained; it always did remain.
Death cleared a few tears as Robin's voice came, telling that everything was clear. She didn't respond.
The magician looked up at the moon and her grey eyes glittered as she spoke. "I'll try my best,"

|7:28 EDT
Miss. Battleaxe clicked the piece of white chalk on the blackboard, looking over her students. "Alright class, who can tell me what formula are we going you use in this word problem?" She inquired, gesturing towards the long question on the black board.
She couldn't help but smile when Dick raised his hand, wanting to answer. He always knew the solution, he was the most brilliant student she ever had and that's why he was her favorite.
Her eyes dragged away from him, landing on the red head sitting beside him, then to the body sitting beside her and the woman frowned; she couldn't believe Life was sleeping in her class… again.
Life currently sat on the chair next to Barbara, her arms crossed over the metal desk and her head lying over them as she slept, snoring softly.
Miss. Battleaxe grinded her teeth in anger and irritation, "Miss. Gordon will you please wake up Miss. Gina?" She ordered, scowling.
Barbara sent her a confused look before peering over Life who was enjoying her pleasant sleep. "Life," She mumbled, slowly shaking the raven.
Life stirred, "Five more minutes."
If it was possible fumes seemed to erupt from Miss. Battleaxe's ears. "Miss. Gina wake up this instance!" She yelled out, making the class flinch.
Life shot her head up, straightening in her seat, her eyes wide as saucepans. "Jack Frost is real!" She exclaimed, loudly.
Dick sent her an amused look as the whole class began to laugh, making Miss. Battleaxe death glares at Life.
"Why thank you for your lovely information on a mystical being, now tell me what kind of formula will we use in this question?" Miss. Battleaxe asked angrily, tapping the chalk on the black board.
The magician stared at it before looking over at Dick who was making circles in the air with his index finger. She cocked an eyebrow when he seemed to slice the invisible circle and pretend to eat it.
She cocked her head back to Miss. Battleaxe whose arms were crossed over her chest as her right foot tapped the floor giving clicking sounds.
"Ahh… pizza?" Life answered, confusingly.
Dick resisted the urge to face palm as Miss. Battleaxe gave a growl and the whole class burst into laughter. "Be quiet," The woman yelled angrily before glaring at Life.
"Sleeping again are we?" She grimaced, looking extremely unhappy. Life yawned in response as she got up from her chair and walked up to the woman. Miss. Battleaxe glared at her as she handed her a detention slip; something Life had gotten used to.
*Life of Death*
Finally there was some silence, Life yawned as she threw her bag aside and jumped on the chair in the empty classroom.
Who knew detention could be so relaxing?
Stretching like a cat, she threw her arms over the desk and placing her head on them. Her eyelids dropped as she could feel the lovely feeling of sleep returning to her aching body.
The door flung open making the magician groan as she already knew who the person was.
Dick smirked as he tossed his school bag aside and joined her, grinning like a madman. "Pizza? Seriously?" He laughed, leaning against his chair.
Life sent him a glare. "You were the one making circles and eating them!" She rolled out her tongue, earning another laugh from him.
"Aren't you gonna ask how did I get here?" Dick smirked, trying to see her guess. Life rolled her eyes. "You must've pretended that you didn't do your homework or something so you could join me." She answered, dryly.
It wasn't that she hated Dick, really, he was her friend, her best friend but the way he was looming over her all the time, it didn't please her. He was trying to help her in Math, which was nice. He was fun to be around with, she'll agree to that and she didn't mind when they shared high fives, laughs and even hugs sometimes but this was starting to get on her nerves.
"I wanna ask you something." The blue-eyed boy's cheery voice stopped her train of thoughts. She looked over at him, questionably.
The Romanian boy pulled out a card from his bag, shaving it into the half Italian girl's face. "Bruce is holding a charity gala at Wayne Manor and I want you to join us." He beamed at her.
Life sighed, leaning against her chair and closing her eyes. "Sorry Dick, but I'm a bit busy these days… so…" She trailed off, yawning.
The raven haired boy sent her an amused look. "Why are you so sleepy all of a sudden?" He inquired.
The magician bit her tongue, cursing mentally. How was she supposed to tell him about the last night encounter with father had made her cry the whole night?
"You know what? I'll come," She smiled, snatching the invitation from him.
In return, Dick grinned nudging her in the arm lightly with his elbow but he didn't expect her to hiss when he did that. "What happened?" He asked, worriedly.
Life clenched her arms, biting her lower lip hard. "N-nothing," She bit out.
Dick's eyebrows knitted together as he scooted a bit closer to her. "Roll up your sleeve," He told the magician.
Life shook her head, saying it wasn't a big deal but another hiss escaped her lips when the boy took her arm and pulled up her sleeve.
His eyes widened at what he saw. Her arms had a huge blue and purple bruise over it and being the protégé of Batman he could tell that it was done by a whip.
"What. Happened?" He questioned her, sternly. He remembered telling her to evacuate the building and that she didn't do anything rough but this a bad bruise like this didn't clear his thoughts.
She looked up at him. Grey eyes meeting Blue.
"Promise you wouldn't tell." The girl said, grimly. He nodded.
A huge sigh escape her lips as she told him. "My Dad came last night," She began and Dick felt realization slap him. Sportsmaster had come? How didn't he notice?!
"He did this to you." Dick inquired and she began to explain.
After a good ten minutes, Dick was scowling. "If you're Dad broke into your house why didn't you call someone to help?" He said sternly, noticing the made up parts of her story that she'd done to keep safe her ID.
"I didn't want to…" Life mumbled as she rolled her sleeve back. "You mean you just let your Dad beat you and you didn't even do anything?" He asked, grinding his teeth.
He could've helped her. She should've told about it to Canary and Batman…
Life shrugged, dragging her eyes away from him. "It doesn't hurt that much anyway…" She muttered, looking out of the side window. Dick sighed but he was taken aback by what she did.
"I-I missed him…" She whispered to herself and the blue eyed boy was shocked when tears began to appear in her eyes. "And-and he just hurt me…" Tears began to slip down her cheeks now. Dick couldn't believe she was crying infront of him.
"A Father shouldn't be like that…" She choked out, crying. Dick bit his bottom lip as he squeezed her shoulder. "It's alright. Just try to relax." He tried to settle her down.
"I was wrong… I was so wrong…" Life sobbed into her hands, hiccuping. Dick continues to console her and after some time he couldn't help but smile when Life had finally slipped into sleep.
Frowning, he got up from his chair and walked up to his bag and pulled out a small device before placing it onto his ear.
"Hey Bruce, I've got something to tell you." He grimaced, glancing at the sleeping magician.
"Life's having some Daddy problems," And he could see Batman scowl on the other side.
