OK I know this is confusing with the author's note being its own chapter and everything, but I'm obviously rusty on the fanfiction uploading process and forgot to put in my author's note so...here we are! OK So guess what! I completed this story! I have honestly tried to do it over and over again...but I didn't like it every time. Now I do. I'm not sure everyone will though...seeing as its been three years since I last updated and nothing particularly remarkable was produced. Well...I guess that's up to you! I've also had another idea just pop into my head and I've never heard it approached from this angle before so...exciting! I have decided to post a little preview here! So if you want to check that out read down below and tell me what you think, if you want to FINALLY finish Courting My Wife go on and do it! WOO!

The Straw That Broke the Camel's Back

Summary: Malfoy goes too far and Hermione goes too wild in her quest for revenge. She develops the perfect plan. If only everything had gone accordingly...

Chapter 1: The Straw That Broke the Camel's Back

Nothing gave Malfoy pleasure as much as ruining Hermione Granger.

Sure, the dark arts were all good fun, being filthy rich had quite a few perks, and his seemingly endless luck with women kept him fitfully satisfied - but nothing compared to this.

He cackled almost maniacally to himself as he put the final pieces of his most current – and ingenious – scheme into place. His fingers trembled uncharacteristically as he sealed the last few glossy envelopes and set them on one of the desks in the Slytherin Common Room before him.

For six years he was forced to feel inferior. Despite his blood, his wealth, his family's legacy...

For six years he had worked himself to the point of insanity only to come in second best.

Tomorrow, that would end.

Tomorrow, everything would change.

Forever.

Hermione awoke wonderfully well rested and stretched lithely, sighing as the warm and crisp fall sunlight filtered through the curtains of her four poster bed.

Seventh year had begun swimmingly just as she'd hoped. Her schedule was full and challenging, her friends were closer than ever, and that pesky Voldemort problem was defeated and done with.

Add to that, her much deserved and acquired position of Head Girl and the high likeliness that endless offers for Healing and Teaching positions would soon be pouring in; the reasons for Hermione's glowing complexion and infectious good spirits were easy to pin down.

And today things could only get better. Marks for first term were set to be released today. And Hermione had no doubt she would be at the top of her class.

She hopped gracefully out of bed and hummed her way to the bathroom letting her voluminous and shiny hair run wild around her shoulders. Hermione inspected her reflection lightly. Her skin was looking clear, her eyebrows were looking slightly as if they had minds of their own, and her lips were beginning to chap.

It was nothing spectacular, but her brown eyes shone back at her. Nothing could ruin her day. She pulled her hair into a messy ponytail, washed her face, smoothed on some yummy tasting lip balm, and decided to tackle the eyebrows later. There were far more important things to worry about.

Because today was the first day of the rest of her life.

The end of this term marked the beginning of applying for jobs. They were the most recent and most important marks that her future employers would be assessing when deciding whether or not to give her a much-coveted Intern Healer position at St Mungo's. There were only twenty-five spots available for all the incoming wizarding-school graduates and Hermione would stop at nothing to make one of those spots hers...

OK! Read this and enjoy! Let me know what you think of the preview if you have read it.
