A/N: Thanks guys for the reviews again! I love you guys! Keep them coming! I have a lot of school stuff going on now so I'll try to make time for the story since you guys deserve it.
That morning, Matt was exhausted. After the two suspects had gone to sleep, he had figured they would awake around seven so he called it a day last night and went into his bedroom and tried to sleep. His thoughts prevented that since all the kept thinking about was Helena and how she had kissed him. Unable to sleep, he remained awake all night thus causing his current fatigue. Damn Helena for making me stay awake all night. But what can I say? She likes me and I might like her back. Might as well try this thing out.
The redhead glanced towards his nightstand; the clock read 4:38 am. I should wake her up to get back at her and I know just the way... He snuck out of his room and towards Helena's door. Turning the doorknob as quietly as he could, he opened her door and there in front of him was the sleeping form of his new "girlfriend." She was snarled in the blanket, which was falling half off of her and onto the floor. Her arm was draped over her eyes and her head was faced in Matt's direction; he smiled at her form. She looks so weird sleeping. Edging closer to her bed until he was towering her, he shook her slowly and whispered her name until she awoke.
"Helena... Helena..."
"Uggnnn," she groaned and turned her back towards him, causing him to roll his eyes and speak a little louder.
"Helena."
"Unnnn... what?" She rubbed at her eyes and got a peek at the person waking her up. "Matt...? What are you doing here?" He leaned in and captured her lips with his but made sure this kiss lasted longer than the first. Matt wrapped his arms around her in a tight embrace and deepened the kiss, his tongue licking her bottom lip, asking for permission. She opened her mouth and his tongue explored every crevice of the wet orifice. Breaking off the kiss for air, he let go of her and stared at her. So beautiful. Helena blushing from his doing.
"You like me back?" She asked him, eyes pleading to hear a yes from his lips.
"It depends... do you like me?" He questioned smirking, already knowing the answer.
"Yes!"
"Then yes." She ripped off the blanket and hugged him as hard as she could.
"I love you." Matt smiled to himself, stroking her hair.
"Love you too. Now get some sleep kiddo." Helena smiled and obeyed.
"Anything for you." Causing him to blush, he kissed her forehead goodnight and left to go to his room. Feeling like he could finally go to sleep, entered a dream-filled wonderland.
When Matt next awoke, the house was unusually quiet. Too quiet. He glanced over at the clock; 6:15. Fucking hell. Another day of mundane things to do. He scratched at his head and rubbed at his eyes, first opening one, then the other. Swinging his legs over the bed, he stood up and grabbed both of his laptops, heading towards the living room. He set them up as he did yesterday, and observed both suspects. The accountant was awake and presumably taking a shower while the other Oliver was in bed fast asleep. Can this day get any slower? Matt reached into his jean pocket and took out a cigarette and lit it, puffing out smoke.
After about thirty minutes, the accountant left out his door and proceeded to leave for work. He entered his car and drove out of his driveway, heading towards his workplace Matt assumed. The other Schluman was still fast asleep. Hand it to Mello to give me the most boring yet important job. Wow. Thanks. But tomorrow one of these suspects will be the guy we're looking for. One more day. He blew out the cigarette's toxins and reclined back into the seat, sighing in exasperation.
"Hey, Matt?" He turned around to see a sleepy Wild rubbing her eye, edging towards him.
"Yeah?"
"Why are you up so early?"
"I should be asking you the same thing."
"Couldn't sleep."
"I have to watch these guys," he said as he pointed to the screens, "trying to help you guys, remember?"
"Thanks." She gave off a weak smile and hugged him in appreciation.
"Anytime, kid."
"Umm..." Wild started twiddling her fingers, making Matt raise an eyebrow in curiosity.
"Yeah?"
" 'Lena told me you guys are together... is that true?" Fucking Helena telling people already. He rolled his eyes then nodded slowly. "Yay!" She exclaimed then hugged the redhead once more. "I'm gunna go tell Melly!" Wild ran into Mello's room and slammed the door open, startling him.
"Melly guess what!"
"What the fuck Wild!"
"Sorry! But I had to tell you something!"
"What could be so important that you have to wake me up? Huh?" Does she ever run out of energy? "What? And stop calling me that."
Wild pouted for a moment, then seemed to remember her news and bounced on her heels." 'Lena and Matty kissed!"
Mello's face remained impassive and said, "sooner or later, they would have. Not sure why you're so surprised about it."
"Because! They're together and-!" She grinned madly, too excited to finish her sentence, causing him to roll his eyes.
"So?"
"I'm jealous." Wild crossed her arms and pouted.
"Why?"
"Because I want that to be us. I love y-"
"You just love how I look, not me. Now if you'll excuse me I'm trying to sleep."
"No! I love you. All of you."
"Oh yeah? Prove it." Before she knew what she was doing, she leaned in and crashed her lips onto his. She cupped the sides of his face gently and kissed him ardently. He didn't know what was happening at that moment and shut down momentarily, kissing back. But once he realized what he was doing, he pushed her away as if she had burned him and wiped her taste off his lips with the back of his hand.
"Get out."
"But-"
"Now." The blonde's glare held such ferocity and malice that she swore he would kill her without a moment's hesitation if she didn't obey. She hastily exited and ran into her room, slamming the door and plopping on her bed in a teary mess. Clutching at her pillow, a barrage of thoughts invaded her mind that made her cry even harder. Why doesn't he like me? Why does he hate me so much? What did I do wrong? I just wanted him to know I loved him. Just then, a second voice intruded her mind and worsened her mood ten-fold. He'll never love you. He'll find someone better than you. You're not needed. He hates you. Too heartbroken to argue with it, she agreed with it and slowly drifted into a nightmarish sleep. You're right.
Why the hell am I stuck with this job? Matt complained inwardly once more. Damn Mello and your lazy ass. For the past two hours nothing had happened other than the remaining Oliver waking up and doing stupid tasks like watch television or playing cards. Today's gunna be a long day. Chocolate-colored arms wrapped around his torso and an exhale of breath tickled his ear. Knowing who it was, he smirked.
"Hey beautiful."
"Good morning handsome," Helena replied and smiled at the cute greeting, "Still keeping surveillance on them?"
"Yeah. One of them left for work and the other one is playing cards."
She stifled a yawn. "Boring!"
"Tell me about it."
"Wild up yet?"
"She was but went into Mello's room, then went back into her room."
Helena rolled her eyes in exasperation. Why is he such a jerk? Gosh, I hope she's okay. Maybe I should go check up on her... Helena headed towards Wild's bedroom door and knocked twice, waiting for a response. Once she didn't, she came in anyway and found her sound asleep but scrunching her face in what seemed like pain. Helena widened her eyes in recognition. She's having another nightmare. Oh god no. She shook her sleeping body and called out to her. "Wild... Wild..."
Her nightmares always start out the same way. Her mother and her were having a fun day at the mall and a nice woman handed her her Ankh necklace, which she cherished dearly since it meant a lot to her. It was her first necklace after all. The two of them ate at the food court and went on the carousal a few times around until Wild was a bubbly laughing pile.
"C'mon Wild!" her mother called out. Wild looked up with a huge grin on her face and nodded.
"Fine, fine!" The both of them walked to their car, heading home. During the car ride, Wild went on and on about how much fun she had and persistently asked if they could do it again, in which her mother laughed and replied with a maybe. Once they reached and entered their home, her mom began to make dinner because her boss was coming over.
"Behave Wild." Her mother, Lucille, warned, causing her daughter to roll her eyes.
"I will!" Lucille walked over to Wild and ruffled her hair in affection.
"That's my girl."
After taking out the lasagna from the oven and setting it on the table, the doorbell rang. This is the part where Wild's dreams take a turn for the worst. The second Lucille opens the door, a man comes in and stabs her and Wild watched helplessly as her mother's lifeless body falls on the floor and chokes out her dying last words. "Run... Wild..."
"Wild... Wild..." She opened her eyes slightly and saw that Helena was standing above her and leaned down to hug her. "Nightmare again?" Wild nodded and cried silently in her arms while Helena smoothed her hair consolingly. "Shhh... it's okay, it's okay, I'm here now."
