Chapter 14
"Why are you letting this happen?" Jace shouted. "That should never happen to anyone!"
"We can't go against Asmodeus. He is the reason we are here." Michael answered. "I don't like this any more than you do." Michael's face showed that he spoke the truth. He hated knowing that anyone was going through this.
"There has to be something we can do." Clary said. "We can't just sit here and let it happen."
"What can we do? If we go against Asmodeus, that would be like suicide. He brought us back with him to punish the remainder of The Circle. We have to do as we are told, or pay a very severe price." Stephen told them. "We wanted to come back to do this, but this was the only way. I am now regretting it."
"Me, too." Michael agreed.
While Michael and Stephen were back to watching the unspeakable crimes being done to Isabelle, Jace pulled Clary behind him out a door. On the other side of this door was a long hallway. It was dimly lit. There was one door that stood out. It was purple and black. Why was this so simple? Shouldn't there be some resistance?
Just as Jace and Clary made it to the door a creature sprang from an unlit area of the hallway. It landed on Jace, pushing him to the ground. Clary already had a seraph blade in her hand when the creature swung out and knocked Clary backward, sending her flying into the wall.
Jace grabbed one of his own seraph blades and stabbed the creature in the stomach. The creature growled and rolled off him. The creature's limbs all bent back, and its stomach opened up and engulfed the rest of it. It was like killing a demon, but it didn't bubble on the ground.
Jace stood and ran to Clary. She was regaining consciousness. Jace applied an iratze and soon Clary was on her feet, ready to go again.
"Are you okay?" Jace asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine, Jace. Lets go help Izzy." She said.
They opened the purple door to the worst sight they had ever seen. It was so much worse than anything Clary could imagine. Her friend was tied down and crying out in pain as a Prince of Hell was pounding into her mercilessly. Clary was in shock, and before she knew it, Jace was throwing a seraph blade and Asmodeus was snarling at him. She quickly withdrew a seraph blade of her own and threw it at Asmodeus. It hit in his back, very near where Jace's had hit.
Asmodeus stood, and putting himself back in his pants, lunged at Clary. He had her against the wall, pulling her by her shirt higher, her feet were no longer on the floor. He grasped her throat in his large hand and squeezed. Jace threw another Seraph blade, hitting near the same place as the other two. They had already burned away.
"You think you can win, little Angels? You won't. I have lost enough to your kind. I will lose no more to the likes of you." Asmodeus growled. Clary worked up the spit and hit him square in the eye. She wasn't going down without a fight.
"You will regret that." He treatened.
Jace leaped on to the back of Asmodeus. He drew a blade across his neck, and black blood soaked the front of his gear. Asmodeus's hold on Clary loosened and she slid to the floor, gasping for air. Jace brought the blade across Asmodeus's throught again, this time sending him to the floor.
Asmodeus was on the floor in a pool of thick, dark blood.
"I will have revenge." He gurgled, then bubbled and went back into his own dimension.
Jace went to Clary. She was still on the floor, breathing hard.
"Hey, baby. Its done. He's gone." He spoke in a soft voice. Clary just nodded, unable to speak. Isabelle let out a huge sob, reminding them why they were there. Jace stood and helped Clary to her feet. They went to Isabelle and untied her. Clary went to the chest of drawers and grabbed Isabelle some new clothing. Jace looked the other way while Clary silently helped the weeping Isabelle dress.
"I'm sorry that I didn't bring you new clothes, Izzy. Didn't think of it." Clary croaked. Her eyes watered as it hurt to talk.
"It's okay, Clary. You had no idea what was going on. I'm just so glad that you came." Isabelle said, then began sobbing again. She held on to Clary, never wanting to let go. Never wanting to have to face reality. Never wanting to have to remember all the pain. All the torture.
The door burst open and Michael and Stephen and three creatures stood staring at them. Clary stood up straighter, Jace put his hand on the handle of another blade, and Isabelle shrank back away from these men who never helped her.
"You killed him. Now you must be killed." Michael said.
Jace threw the dagger and hit a creature in the head. This creature immediately bent backward and was engulfed. Clary took note and hit another square in the head, this one did the same as the last.
Stephen bounded on Clary. With a great force, he shoved her to the floor. She hit her head and saw blackness.
Jace saw Michael leap, and then saw him fling sideways. When Jace looked at him on the ground, he saw an arrow sticking out from his chest. He glanced at the door and saw Magnus, Alec and Jonathan ready to fight. Magnus shot blue flames from his fingertips, hitting Stephen in the head and dropping him to the floor. Jonathan brought a sword from behind his back and beheaded the remaining creature with one smooth swing of his arm.
"We took out about fifty of those creatures on the way in. Think we got them all, though." Alec said. Jace nodded, then ran to Clary. He applied yet another Iratze to her arm and hoped that all was okay, and that the baby would be fine.
"Magnus, can you have a look at Isabelle? But be careful, she's been through hell, again." Jace said. Magnus walked over to her and she shrunk away at first, but when Magnus quietly cooed to her, she hugged him. He picked her up and walked to Alec.
"We need to get Clary and Isabelle to the Institutes Infirmary. Jace could use it, too." Magnus said.
"I'm fine. Focus on them." Jace replied.
"Look Goldie, you have a gash the size of the Mississippi River on your arm, and a bump the size of Mt. Everest on your head. You need it. Lets go. Jonathan, carry Clary. Alec, walk with Jace and make sure he doesn't worsen or pass out." Magnus ordered.
They entered the institute and quickly entered the infirmary. Magnus set Isabelle carefully on a bed, while Jonathan did the same with Clary. Alec made Jace sit on the bed next to Clary.
"Alec, draw an iratze on Clary please. Izzy, I'm going to need to look at you, make sure there isn't anything down there that shouldn't be." Magnus said. Isabelle just nodded and covered her face. Magnus spread her legs and just checked the extent of the damage. Hopefully she wouldn't have any Demon-Human STD's. "She needs an Iratze, too. I will do what I can." Magnus spread his hand over her stomach and blue spread over her. She went to sleep.
Alec drew two iratze's on Jace, and his cuts and bumps slowly went away.
"Magnus, will you check on the baby? Please?" Jace asked him. Magnus nodded. He held his hand over her stomach.
"The baby is very weak, Jace. Clary will need a lot of care to make sure it lives."
Jace nodded.
"That is all I can do. They will have to heal on their own, now." Magnus said. "I will be leaving now. I am tired."
"I'll come with you." Alec stated. They both left.
"Do you think they'll be okay?" Jonathan asked.
"I sure hope so. They are both warriors, so they will make it. Now, we both need showers, and you probably need sleep. Lets check on them later." Jace stood and walked past Jonathan out the door.
"I sure hope you're right." Jonathan muttered as he left the room to shower and sleep.
Hey, how was it? I am wrapping it up, but i will make a few more Chapters. There will most likely be a chapter for the futures of each pair/couple. Please review!
