Chapter 13
First Floor- Cage
Falling back, Naomi barely gets caught by Claire and Rebecca. As the girls screamed, the licker gets ready to hit Naomi, when Billy kicks it in the face. Unarmed, the group was facing a single Licker. With the dogs distracting it, Chris and Billy try to just wing it. But they soon find out that it's not that easy to kill a Licker with no weapon. But after a few tries, they finally took it down.
"That took longer than I thought." Claire somehow say in between breaths.
"How did any of you kill this thing!?" Amy holds back Trident.
Resting on the floor, the group tries to breath normally. But as the cage gets quieter the sound of many things walking towards the trap door, gets louder.
Side Two
As they watched Jack just stand there. Waiting for whatever it was to happen, but nothing did. The beeping was still going and yet the collars showed no sign they were working. Looking down, Jack smirks.
"Was that your big trick?" Jack asks them.
Unsure of why nothing was going as planned. Something weird was going on with the fence. It was no longer humming. And it was starting to lower, tho not at a high rate. Unable to look away, no one notices that the other side was doing the same thing as them. But they soon would as the Licker start coming out. Staying on the ceiling only five Lickers began to surround the massive group.
"Hmm, it seems that one of my cages was damaged by the explosion. Don't worry they won't kill all of you. Just the weak ones."
Looking at each other, everyone was worried about someone else making a move to get the rest of the guns, but at the same time worried about the Lickers attacking them. But time was running out. The Lickers were getting closer to them. Sooner or later, someone would have to make a move.
"Screw this. I'm not letting you walk away from this!" Jack yells as he runs for the box of weapons.
Jumping back from the box, the group is able to avoid several of the lickers. But Jack wasn't. He was knocked down. As the group ran away, no one could hear the beeping over the sound of Jack yelling and the Lickers screaming. They get a little over half way before the collars go off.
"Clever. Very clever. I guess I underestimated your capacity."
"I DON'T WANT TO DIE!" Alfred screams in his sister's ear.
"Can we shot him!?" Both Steve and Eric yells to Leon and Carlos.
"What?"
"No matter how quiet you talk, I will find out your plan!" Alexia suddenly yells.
Looking at her confused, the others are unsure what she was talking about. Mainly cause Alfred caused a slight hearing loss. But only to them. Running in Chris, Billy, Jason, Kevin, and David were expecting something horrible and well too much for them to see, but nothing prepared them to see everyone yelling something out to the person next to them.
"Should we help them?" Jason looks over at Chris, who is sharing the same expression as the others.
"I'm not even sure what's wrong with them." Chris says just staring at them.
"Quite staring and start firing!" HUNK yells as he shoots at a Licker jumping at Amy.
Coming back to the situation at hand, those that can hear try to protect those that can't hear the lickers coming at them. But things would be going well, if it weren't for the Ashfords getting in the way.
"SOMEONE HELP ME!" Alfred keeps yelling over and over again.
Only this time, it wasn't just the people that he was annoying. But the Lickers as well. Wanting the sound to end, the lickers turn to each other and somehow all attack him as well as Alexia. Who makes an effort to help, but just runs away in the end. Using this moment to get rid of the lickers. No one could find two lickers since Alexia ran for her life.
"What do we do now?" Claire asks as she walks over to the others.
"What did she say!?"
"Did we win!?"
"How did I get cut!?"
"I would say a good job, but you allowed Alexia to get away. Alive. But what's done is done. Now all you need to do is met me, So please. Join me up the stairs."
Once the voice was gone, a secret door opens, revealing a set of stairs leading up. To where, they weren't sure. But something told them that it was their only option.
"Who goes up, and who goes down?" Jessica walks over to the small group near the door.
Thinking about it, no one had the right answers. And no one was willing to be the first to say anything. As time went on, HUNK suddenly walks over to them and starts moving people around. Chris, Eric, Billy, David, Naomi, Kevin, Claire, Ada, and Carlos were placed near the door.
"There. The decision has been made for you. Now all you have to do is defeat the one responsible for the death of your two friends." Although HUNK hated that he was exposed, it was a small relief knowing that the people he was talking to finally knew he was telling the truth. Tho he really missed wearing the mask.
"Will you stay here with the rest?" Chris stars straight into his eyes.
Thinking about it, HUNK was about to say no, but then again what else did he have to do. "Sure. Just don't get killed."
Nodding his head, Chris and the group started to head up the stairs.
Second Floor
The room was silent as they got closer to the top. The lights was were on. Moving further into the room, they look around to find it empty. And it looks like there is no exit, so where were they?
"I don't like this." Claire says once they are all in the room.
"So you shouldn't." Wesker suddenly comes out of nowhere. "It's good to see you Chris Redfield."
"We'll see if it's indeed a good thing." Chris keeps his expression blank.
Watching him carefully, Wesker wasn't going to make the same mistakes he's made in the past. Today, only one of them was walking out of this place, alive. And that person was going to be him. Far too long, Wesker has been plagued with the knowledge that he failed to eliminate Chris Redfield.
"Before you say anything, I need to know one thing." Naomi suddenly says before Wesker gets a chance to say a word.
"What is it?" He made sure she knew her question annoyed him.
"Why did you kill her?" A single tear ran down her left cheek.
For the first time, Chris saw a different side to Wesker. One that he never knew existed. Wesker was unable to look at Naomi.
"That wasn't me. And Redfield knows I take credit for all my work." He looks over at Chris who is staring at him confused.
"Then if you didn't do it, then who?" Eric tries to hold back his anger.
"Right now that's not important. What is important is why you haven't tried to leave this place." Wesker knew he was being watched from the shadows.
Looking over at Chris, Wesker could see his brain working on what was going on here. No matter how much he tried to move them away from a certain spot, they somehow managed to get back there.
"Why are you avoiding this area?" Billy watches Wesker carefully, hoping to see some hidden sign from him.
Taking the time to think, Wesker composes himself. "What makes you think I'm avoid any part of this place."
"Cause, everytime we go near this area, your left eye twitches a bit." Billy then walks over to the area, causing Wesker's left eye to twitch. "See!"
Just as he says this, someone rushes out from a hidden door. Knocking Billy over. As everyone watches, stunned. But for two of the nine group members, they knew who they were.
"William Birkin?" Ada was the first to say something. He looks over at her.
"Wait, that's Sherry's father? The one that left her all alone with a sample of the G-Virus knowing Umbrella was after it?!" Claire couldn't help herself. She needed to get some of her anger out, or it was going to destroy her.
Smiling at her, Birkin just laughs until Claire uses the butt of the shotgun to hit him in the face. Sending him back a few feet. As the others laugh, something else unexpected happen. Wesker was laughing as well.
"So you think this is funny, eh Wesker?" Birkin gives Wesker a dirty look that stops him. "Maybe instead of fighting them, I should fight you! After all, everything is your fault!"
Before Wesker could do anything, Birkin screams and runs at him. Birkin gets a few hits on him, mainly cause Wesker just didn't have time to react to the sudden change in plans. Tho it's been so long that Wesker doesn't remember why his only friend is wanting to kill him. Stepping back, the group waits for someone to come out of this and maybe do something about them. But from the way they are fighting, there might not be a winner. Just two dead people.
First Floor
It was the hardest things they have ever done. The dogs had to go and the only place that was available to them, was the hallway where they come from. And when they got to the front door, the sound of tools against metal vibrated. There had to be a way out. And they were all determined to find it.
"Why are you helping us?" Tess asks him, as Lily sniffs him.
He looks down at the pup and then at Tess. "I help cause I never wanted to be here. I've lived my life. And I'm too old to fight."
"I understand." Walking back to the group, it's clear from their body language they havn't found a way out.
"What do we do Leon?" Nick, Steve, Amy, and Jess all asked, but not at the same time.
Looking over at Rebecca and Jason, Leon starts to be overwhelmed by the questions he has no answers to. Seeing him having a hard time, she goes over to help him.
"Look. Right now, the only thing we can do, is load up whatever weapons are here. Harassing Leon for question won't help." Claire smiles at Leon.
Thinking about it, the small group nodded their heads, and went over to the box to help.
"Thanks. Don't know why I froze like that." Leon looks down at the floor.
"It's okay Leon. Everyone gets-"
"It's not like that. I'm use to thinking under all kinds of stress. But for some reason this is different. For the first time in my life, I don't know what to do." He looks at her for a few seconds, but then looks back at the floor.
Not saying a word, they join the others.
Parking Lot
The workers continue in their attempts to open the door. But the steel door proves to be thicker and different from the average steel. All of their equipment seems to break or get over heated. Whatever the cause, nothing they do will help them get through the door. Nor do they see the crack getting bigger. All the camera's on the outside where destroyed. Even the ones William Birkin had installed right before the first ten people arrived. As the day went on, the soldiers that came with a few trucks, start going over some drills. And just as someone was about to say something, an alarms sounds. It's similar to those that are used to warn people of tornadoes. Unable to communicate with the others, they continue on with their jobs as a small group looks for the controls to the alarm. But unknown to them, the controls are inside guarded by something they only thought was in horror movies and in nightmares. As they get closer to the area they think the controls are, a door suddenly opens. Looking at each other, no one wants to be the first to walk in. Taking a deep breath, they slowly walk into the building.
End of Chapter.
