Hey guys!
Previously on Trophy (Chapter 13):
He didn't even know why he was obliged to tell her the truth. But he knew that it would slowly but surely kill him inside if he didn't tell her as soon as possible. The guilt was slowly eating him alive. He was positively sure that Misty would hate him when she knew of the bet but somehow, he knew that he had to do it. He loved Misty a lot and even if it meant her leaving him or him feeling the pain of her leaving him once the truth was out, he knew that it would be the right thing to do.
If you love someone, all the pain would be worth it.
Ash pulled away a little to whisper a quiet "I love you" through Misty's lips before pushing her back onto the bench and kissing her once more.

TROPHY
CHAPTER 14
"So, do I have to ask you like what Paul did with Dawn or is it given that we're going to the dance together?" Ash asked Misty hoping that she would go for the latter.
Misty munched on the peanut butter sandwich that Delia had made for the couple before she left. She looked deep in thought pretending to think about what Ash had just said.
Ash looked at her hopefully. It wasn't that he didn't want to put on some effort to ask his girlfriend to the dance but rather it was because he didn't know how to do it. He always got nervous when doing things like this. He didn't want to mess up anything.
"Nah," Misty said as she waved a hand, "I'm pretty content with you being my loyal boyfriend." She raised her eyebrow at him, emphasizing the word 'loyal' as if testing him.
"I swear I'm not going out with anyone else other than you!" Ash quickly defended himself to which Misty smiled contently.
"By the way, Ash, your mother makes the best sandwiches ever! Better than the sandwiches in that burger house!" Misty exclaimed. She truly admired Ash's mother; how she raised Ash all alone, managed to earn money more than enough for the both of them and still have some time for Ash.
"I have the best mom in the world," Ash calmly replied as he took a bite on his own sandwich.
"Lucky for you. I don't get to spend as much time with my mother since she and dad live in Cerulean so here I am stuck with three lazy sisters," Misty sighed.
"Your sisters aren't that bad," Ash responded thinking that it was the appropriate reply. However, the look on Misty's face said otherwise.
She raised her eyebrow at him and said, "Are you serious?"
Ash shrugged.
"Ash, my sisters attacked you with questions when you first came to my house. They were constantly interrupting us with their noise when we were at my place studying for that exam one time. Are you seriously saying that they aren't that bad?" Misty asked flabbergasted. It was very rare that Misty's friends would say something like that about her sisters.
Either Misty's friends were really straightforward or Ash was just sucking up to her.
"Okay, fine. They're sort of-" At this he received alook again from Misty, "-okay they're really, um, terrifying."
"Terrifying? How so?"
"Well, for one thing, your sisters shop too much. And they shout. A lot. I'm not sure if they're just normally loud-"
Misty cut him off once again with, "they are."
"I'm sort of thankful that I'm an only child but you're still lucky to have them with you, you know. At least you have someone who could actually relate with you. My mom and I aren't always on the same page," Ash told her.
"Well, you're sort of right with that," Misty answered.
She ate the last bite of her sandwich before she decided to change the topic.
"How's training going? Championships are in about 2 days huh?"
"I'm still good. The team's stronger than ever. Overall, we're all hyped up," Ash replied whilst playing with his spoon and occasionally making 'clang' sounds on the glass.
"Really now? Last time I saw you playing with the Rustboro guys, you collapsed after the game. You sure you won't do it again?" Misty teased him.
"I'm healthy now. Stronger than ever, eating better, resting more. I'm actually very excited," Ash said, "Besides, now that you're with me, I've got someone to win this thing for besides myself."
Misty found herself blushing at Ash's comment. He always knew how to make her heart beat faster and her stomach turn upside down as if butterflies were in it.
"Look, loverboy, flattery will get you," Misty told him, however, while sporting a dark blush.
"I know you like it."
"Please, you're like the corniest person I know!" Misty countered before she stole a piece of Ash's sandwich and popped it in her mouth.
"That's my sandwich! Give it back!" Ash playfully said.
"Uh uh, whuf's duh mugic wohd?" Misty asked with her mouth full before she ran to the living room and attacked Ash with the throw pillows.
"Princesses don't talk with their mouths full!" Ash reminded her while successfully catching the throw pillows and throwing them on the floor. He slowly made his way to his girlfriend, his eyes fixated on her aquamarine pair.
To Misty's surprise, Ash pulled her to his arms and kissed her deeply. Before she could even respond, Ash thrust his tongue inside Misty's mouth and skillfully took the last bits of sandwich from her. He pulled away and swallowed before looking down on Misty with an evil smirk plastered on his face.
"And that is a perfect example of how thieves make it in the business," Ash bragged, his lips merely centimeters away from girlfriends.
"That's cheating! How was I supposed to know you were going to pull off a stunt like that?"
"Lesson number one of being a princess, expect the unexpected!" Ash teased her. Truth be told, Misty hated being called a princess.
"Stop calling me princess!" Misty whined pulling away from him.
"Aw, come on, I was just teasing you. Don't get to worked up," he said as he pulled her close to him again.
"You're lucky I don't have my mallet with me or I swear I would ha-"
But Ash was too stubborn to listen to her so he simply shut her up with a kiss and pinned her to the couch, his fingers rubbing her hips. Misty let out a pleasant moan through her boyfriend's mouth, all the while keeping her knees still.
And this went on for the next few minutes which seemed like hours to both of them.

"So, Misty, has Ash asked you yet to the dance?" May inquired as they both sat down on their usual cafeteria seats.
"Nah, I told him not to anymore since I was content with having him as a 'loyal' boyfriend," Misty replied, biting into her burger.
"You're serious?"
"Honestly, May, we've been best friends for as long as I could remember! Do you honestly think that I'd force Ash to do something he's not comfortable with just because I wanted him to?" Misty asked in disbelief.
"Your mallet says otherwise," May muttered. She simply rolled her eyes at her best friend's over-modesty.
"What was that?"
"Nothing!"
"But enough about my life, how's everything between you and Drew? Last time I saw him, he was accompanying Paul during his 'dance proposal' to Dawn," Misty asked, raising an eyebrow to May, who blushed as soon as she heard Drew's name.
"W-what are you talking about? There's nothing going on bet-uh, nothing's going on, uh, between us! I-if there were, you'd be the first t-to know!" May quickly defended herself, raising her hands up in front of her in a surrender position.
"Really now?" Misty said in a challenging tone, "Do you seriously think that I'd believe that?"
"I really hate you sometimes."
"You don't," Misty replied as if it was the most normal thing in the world.
"Ugh fine," May sighed, giving in to her friend. "Misty, I think I like him."
"You think?"
"I don't know but whenever I'm around him, I feel excited and I dunno but I suddenly feel warm and cold at the same time and I just feel happy whenever he's there even though he calls me names and teases me and I feel ecstatic every time he'd give me roses and I don't know, Misty! I really need to go to a doctor, this isn't healthy!" May mumbled rather quickly but loud enough for Misty to hear, the blush on her face becoming more and more evident.
"Oh, May! You totally like him! I knew it from the start," Misty bragged.
"Please, Misty, you're so into Ash that you barely have time to notice me and Drew," May countered. Misty simply rolled her eyes.
"I do too! And that thing with the red roses, I think it's sweet. Don't you know that red roses basically represent love?"
May blushed even more.
"Why don't you just tell him? I know it's hard but you, at least, have to try."
"Tell him? And have him laugh at my face and reject me? Hell no, Misty!" May replied.
"How are you so sure?"
"Because he's a jerk! Damn it, why did I have to fall heels over head for a jerk like him!" May cried out earning curious looks from the surrounding people.
"Why don't you guys just mind your business!" Misty shouted at them. The people just shrugged and continued with what they were doing.
"Oh well, Misty, thanks anyway," May sighed once again, "I'm actually surprised that you're not hanging out with Ash right now and that you're here with me. I was certain that I'd be alone today since Dawn's with Paul right now and you've got Ash and I've got no one."
"Hey, what are friends for?" Misty chuckled then looked at her watch, "May, I'm sorry but I've got to go. I've to go to Mr. Birch for my extra credit."
She drank the last of her juice and stood up.
"I hope you figure out your dilemma with Drew even though there's actually nothing to figure out."
"Yeah, okay." With that, Misty left leaving May alone with her lunch.
May buried her face in her hands, sighing, and said to herself, "Why is it that I'm always the one left alone while my best friends have the great life?"
It wasn't that she was desperate to get a boyfriend, it was the fact that she was always alone that made her down. But what's worse was that she had to be alone with Drew, of all people.
Ah yes, that chartreuse-haired man, who simply couldn't keep his words to himself. She didn't mean for it to happen but she found herself falling hard for this man. Yes, he was a jerk- an arrogant and conceited jerk, yet there was something about him that charmed her.
And then there were the roses. Where he constantly got them, she didn't know but whenever he gave her one, 9 in just a week to be exact, she felt tingles up her spine and couldn't help that small smile creep up in her face.
She was so deep in thought, slowly munching on her meals having completely lost her appetite, that she hadn't even heard the footsteps approaching her.
It was only when the owner of the footsteps dumped his lunch tray in front of her and sat next to her did she wake up.
"Wow, June, you seem like you're thinking about something really important! I'm so proud of you, I think I might cry!" Drew sarcastically commented pretending to be shocked.
"What do you want, Grasshead?" May said tiredly. Drew felt something was wrong and dropped the smirk on his face.
"Okay, seeing that this is a serious matter, I have decided to push you into telling me what's wrong so what's up?"
"Oh, so now you care," May muttered, taking a bite from her ketchup-filled burger. Unknown to her, it left a bit of ketchup on the corner of her lips. Drew chuckled lightly at the sight. She looked like a child what with the pout and her ketchup-smeared lips.
"If you're just going to laugh at me, then I don't see any reason why I should even be sitting here with you so I'm going to leave," May harshly told him, standing up from her seat.
Drew stopped chuckling immediately.
"Come on, please don't tell me that you're leaving me, too! Ash and Paul already left me alone and I really don't see any point in hanging out with my other friends-" he spit out the word as if it were venom in his mouth, "I mean Soledad's okay but she's with her more important friends and there's Brock but I'm sure he'd rather swoon over Lucy and don't even get me started with Harley! He or she is just too crazy, I swear he's like a clown on drugs!"
May couldn't help but laugh at him. She gave him a look of amusement. Suddenly, she felt relieved that they were both in the same predicament.
"Oh, so now you're laughing at me!" Drew glared at her.
"I can't help but think that maybe there's a reason for why we're both stuck in the same situation. Misty and Dawn left me to go be with their boyfriends and Ash and Paul left you to go be with their girlfriends! Don't you think that means something?"
"Are you, I don't know, somehow telling me in a very discreet way that you want me to be your boyfriend?"
"W-w-what?! N-no! W-what made you th-think of t-that?! That's disgusting! What makes you think that I'd want to be your girlfriend?" She quickly stuttered unable to hide the small blush creeping up her face.
"Hey, don't get too defensive. I was just suggesting," Drew shrugged and added, "Besides, I wouldn't have minded being alone together with you, anyway."
"What do you mean by that?" May asked curiously. Drew chuckled again earning him a glare from the brunette.
"Okay, I can't take you seriously right now. You've got ketchup all over you."
"W-why didn't you tell me?!" May fumed, embarrassed.
"Because you were so mad, I thought you might actually be lucky enough to kill me," Drew said, his voice a lot softer than he intended.
He got some tissue paper from his lunch tray and leaned forward, wiping the corner of May's mouth very gently like she was a delicate figurine that would break easily.
"Uhm, uh, t-thanks," May responded shyly.
"As I was saying, next to Paul and Ash, you're one of the most decent people I know. I mean, you're not one of those crazy girls who constantly stalk me-" he raised his voice suddenly, "AND LISTEN TO ME DURING IMPORTANT CONVERSATIONS." As soon as he said that, May saw a group of girls scurry off to some other table giggling to themselves. Apparently, they were eavesdropping.
"You know, if this were a two-sided thing then I don't see any reason for us not to work out."
"What are you saying, Drew?" May asked nervously.
"May, I like you. And when I mean like, I mean like like," he confessed, a microscopic tinge of reddish pink on his face.
"Wow," May found herself releasing the breath she didn't even know that she was holding.
"I get it that you probably don't feel the same as I do but I just thought I had to let you know somehow or else I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight. See ya later, Maple." He was just about to stand up when May caught his wrist, forcing him to sit back down.
"I meant wow because I was just talking to Misty about how I like you and here you are telling me the exact thing that I wanted to tell you," she looked into Drew's emerald eyes, quickly losing herself in his bright green pair, "Drew, I like you, too."
Drew exhaled quite loudly and for the first time showing how nervous he was through his shaky breath.
"Good," was all he could say. And a moment of silence ensued between the two.
"So what does this make us now?" May asked after a few minutes of awkwardness.
"Hmm… May, will you be my girlfriend?"
"I'd love to."
"Great."
"Yeah, Drew, it is." May smiled up at him while he smiled back.
"Oh before I forget," Drew pulled out a rose from his pocket and held it up in front of May. It was a red, thornless rose.
"Thank you," May gratefully accepted and brought it up her nose and smelled it. Drew grinned at her and sat even closer to her, for the first time that week, feeling nothing but joy excluding his thumping heart.
The pair resumed to eating their meals as if nothing out of the ordinary happened.

I'm actually really proud of myself for this since it had a lot of contestshipping. I admire Drew and May's love-hate-ish relationship in the series that I can't help but include it here.
