Chapter 14: One up
The "getting to know you" phase was a success as both began to delve into their own personal history and revealed quite a bit to one another as Valeria revealed she was a lot younger at first than her brother but due to a cosmic radiation leak and hormone growth she aged rapidly but was halted to the efforts of her father and her uncles and she is also secretly a fan of Led Zeppelin.
"How did you even get an entire car into a classroom?" Valeria asked.
"No idea wasn't even my prank but it was pinned on me and had to prove my innocence which I was able to using my keen detective skills." Jack explained.
She raised her eyebrow at that. "Really "keen" detective skills?" Valeria sarcastically asked.
"I asked around and found the culprit then taddled on them." Jack admitted getting a giggle from her.
"You telling on someone is something I do not see I thought you would've got your mask on, started to rough people up and gotten the evidence?" she said.
"I'm trying to prove my innocence not save Gotham city." Jack joked.
"True but there is a difference between you both." Valeria said.
"That we're both incredibly good looking and have hot women by our sides?" Jack said.
She giggled again. "Well that and the fact he's a billionaire." she stated.
"Ah yeah then things would be sweet as pie, speaking of which I believe there's some left in the fridge." Jack said getting sidetracked by the mention of pie.
"And he does not get that distracted by simple things." she said as he brought out a couple of slices of lemon pie for them both.
"I need to talk to you about next week." Jack said.
"What about next week?" Valeria asked.
"Well the Avengers are having a get together by the massive pool that's at the mansion and was wondering if you'd be my date for it?" Jack asked.
"Why yes of course but when you say get together and pool do you mean…?" she implied what he meant by that.
"Food, drinks which I will be far away from and frolicking in the pool." Jack said
"Um I'm not very comfortable with all that." she said as he could see thinking about it made her uncomfortable.
"Why? Is it being in the pool and showing your bod off? Look your body is amazeballs and seeing it in a two piece would blow everyone's minds." Jack said trying to make her feel more confident about herself.
"Yes and also the fact I have to try and hold a conversation with them all it's going be high school all over again with everyone thinking you're the freak and-"
Jack stopped her in mid sentence with a kiss.
"You are not a freak, you are the most intelligent, sexy and quirky person I have ever met, they will like you." Jack reassured her making her calm down.
"Quirky?" Valeria said questioning that word he used to describe her.
"You have very cute quirks, the way you scowl when stuff annoys or confuses you or how you have to try and correct me but what I like most is your laugh." Jack listed all her quirks and that just made her blush crimson.
"Stop it your embarrassing me." she moaned trying to hide it.
He then gave her a quick peck on the lips. "And that's why you'll do great with everyone when I introduce you to them." he said.
"Jack…" she was taken back by that but then knew her other problem. "…but I still don't have a suitable swimming costume" she worried about her looks.
"Don't worry Val I've got this part covered." Jack said pulling out his phone and dialled a number.

Eclipse was on patrol and was helping out his friend Spider-Girl on a visit to New York.
They were on a trail of a gang that have been committing car thefts for the past several months and by Spider-Girl's tracers that was attached to a car they used as bait and followed them to a shipping yard where they were about to be processed at a warehouse.
"Usual plan?" Spider-Girl asked.
"We go in, we pick them off one by one and leave the head honcho alone and ready for interrogation." Eclipse laid out their usual way of dealing with the situation.
They used their usual method of breaking and entering via the window they scouted the numbers and only a small group of them and decided to just surprise them with a full on assault as he jumped down and engaged them in hand to hand and was easily despatching them while Spider-Girl used her webbing to tie them up, Eclipse interrogated the boss for a confession and then a small tip off to the cops as they made their escape.
"That was easy." Eclipse said.
"I know guess these criminals are getting soft, so why have I been hearing that Valeria's been training hardcore with Lilly?" she asked.
"Yeah she just wants to get into shape that's all." he said.
"So it doesn't have anything to do with a party and the fact she's going to be strutting her stuff in a two piece?" she said knowing what it was about.
"Look she's like a lot of women they want to look their best and I'm helping her by getting her ready and it's not like you can complain." Jack pointed out.
"Hey! I always look good and besides I bet she will." May said.
"Of course she will and also-"
"I got her back as Lilly does and anyway I take it you'll be bringing your axe?" May said referring to his guitar.
"Don't go anywhere without it plus I get to make myself look cool." Jack said as he made her roll her eyes at that comment.
"So how's it going with your new guy I heard about?" Jack asked.
"Great he's been such a gentleman and I'm bringing him to the party if it's ok?" May said wanting him to be the first to know.
"May it's cool, you don't have to ask me anything it's your choice and anyway we're now both bringing our other half so besides Lilly and Reilly being the only couple for us to mingle with, this will be even better and plus I get to meet this mystery man." Jack saying he's ok with it.
"He's no mystery but there is something you need to know." May said as he listened.

Jack made it back to the UK and to the apartment and was greeted to a wonderful sight.
"You really like me." Jack whispered to himself looking up to the heavens as he saw Reilly sitting on the couch and took a seat next to him.
"Yes it is what you think it is." he whispered as they both watched their girlfriends work out and they had a front row seat to this.
"How long have they been at this?" Jack whispered.
"An hour, Lilly really knows how to keep her stamina up as I know." Reilly whispered.
"Yeah she sure can." Jack whispered also noting his time when they were together.
Reilly gave him a look. "That's my girl!" he whispered said.
"Well you've been staring at my girl's ass for an hour and I'm not complaining." Jack whispered as he made a point.
"Fine but this makes us even." Reilly whispered.
The girls stopped and turned to see them both whispering.
"Oh Jack didn't hear you come in, take it you stopped them?" Valeria asked.
"It's the same old story, sneak in, take em out, make boss wet himself until he blabs and let the police take the credit." Jack said giving the short story.
"And how long have you two been sitting there?" Lilly asked.
"Not long." Reilly said.
"And you watched because?" Valeria asked.
"It was nothing per minute for a most glorious sight." Jack responded.
"Oh so I guess that you won't have any trouble walking Lancelot right now then?" Lilly ordered him as he could already see the Yorkshire terrier awaiting him and knew he had to do as he was told and went to do so.
"We need a new roommate agreement!" Jack said as he took the leash and left to walk him.
Reilly laughed at his predicament. "And as for you good sir, you will do the dishes immediately." Lilly ordered her boyfriend.
"Hold on I'm a lawyer I don't have to take this from you!" Reilly protested.
She then gave him the look. "I'll go do those dishes." he said giving in to her.
She turns to Valeria. "Men you see are like pets, they need love, attention but also lots of discipline when they become naughty." she explained.
"You really love him don't you?" Valeria asked.
"Yes and I know Jack means a lot to you as he does to you and when you begin to learn more you'll be able to do this to him. "she said looking to Reilly. "Reilly would you be a dear and get me a Vogue magazine?" Lilly asked him.
"But I just started doing-I got a lot of work and-DAMMIT!" Reilly said getting his jacket and keys and doing so as she looked to Valeria. "Discipline is the key." she said.

It was a week later and the Avengers pool party was in full swing as all members old and current were in attendance.
Tony Stark was talking with Reed Richards.
"So how does it feel having your daughter date a crazy person?" Tony asked.
"It's been very interesting she's made more friends and he's not once tried to take advantage of her which surprised me given his reputation with girls." Reed said as he was pleased with everything.
"Jack's got a good heart, he's like his father and besides he could be a possible future son in-law." Tony joked.
"Tony do you want me to remind you of the many different ways I can trap you in your armour when you really need to go?" Reed said making a threat.
"Oh you mean this." Tony said as he paused for a couple of minutes . "And that is why I am the guy who can outthink you when you least expect it." he bragged.
"And who put you down for the count how many times?" as it was the voice of Bruce Banner A.K.A The Incredible Hulk.
"Don't make me angry Bruce, you would not like me when I'm angry." Tony said as the three of them shared a laugh.
As the party shifted direction to the arrival of Jack and Valeria.
"Hey guys." Jack said as he met up with some of the guys and he quickly whispered into Valeria's ear. "You can do this, just listen to a conversation and try to hold back the smarts until needed." he suggested as he left her to do it alone.
She was approached Cassie and Shannon. "So you're the current misses in Redgrave's life huh?" Shannon asked.
"Um yes we're seeing each other." Valeria nervously replied.
"So how good is he?" Cassie asked.
Valeria looked a bit confused to that question and a bit embarrassed.
"I was just asking if you had done the deed with your man that's all." Cassie said asking again.
"Ok Cass cut it out!" Shannon said trying to stop her line of questioning.
Jack could see them talking as he could see Val's face and knew she was about to crack but then it happened.
"You want to know how good is he?" Valeria asked her straight up as that froze her. "Jack!" she called as he came over.
"Yep?" he said.
"Can you show Cassandra your bedroom skills?" she asked him.
The women looked shocked and surprised by that.
"Got nothing better to do." Jack said as he agreed to it and came over to them.
"So any questions dearheart?" Valeria asked as the couple looked to Cassie.
Cassie and Shannon were both a little speechless as the conversation attracted a crowd.
As no reply came from her not expecting this.
"Burn!" Jack shouted as that's what it was indeed.
But what came next was the biggest surprise of them all as in came May with her new boyfriend.
"Now that is a burn right there."
"That's May with…"
"Franklin Richards?!"
"Jack's gotta be going crazy right now."
Jack and Valeria approached May and Franklin.
"So this is why you didn't tell anyone." Jack said.
"I know and I guess right now this is awkward?" May asked.
"Try unbelievably." Franklin said as he was right.
"That's a understatement brother." Valeria agreed with him.

The party moved on as everyone was frolicking in the pool and the moment had arrived.
"Ready Val?" Jack asked her.
She was a little nervous and reluctant and he knew he needed to do something drastic.
"Holy crap."
"Did he just?"
"Man that's rough to look at."
"Damn."
The comments kept up as Jack had taken his shirt off showing his entire battle scars that covered his body and that took attention off his girlfriend as she took off her shirt and revealed her body in a red two piece and just got into the water as he had just taken a bullet for her.
The hours went on as Valeria was now part of the social gathering and even conversing with others as Jack watched on from the poolside area he was alone as he knew he did that right thing.
"That was a bold move son."
"Did it for my girl." Jack said looking on.
"Is she worth it?"
"She is and everything." Jack answered as she came over to him.
"You and I have unfinished business." Valeria said dragging him by the front hem of his shirt.
"Sweet." Jack said grinning as she left with him in tow.
"So what you think of all this Steve?" Tony asked.
"Eventful but that kid there, who is he?" he asked.
"Jack Redgrave also known as Eclipse." Tony said.
"He saved existence, you wonder at times if were ready to let the future lead the way well seeing him and the rest of The Avengers I'd say it's in good hands." Steve stated.
